Dear Khaled and fellows of the community, I'm not aspiring to stand with a whip over you or even to suggest that you do the work you do not fancy. However, if I may stretch a little what _you_ say, it goes to "we do what we want and be grateful" (in the very spirit of Bruce Sterling rant on OSS). May I remind you that the only real payout on the (unpaid) OSS work, excepting the "fame" or CV stuff, is user base/support? Those nameless fellas throughout the world who trust the (general use) software "with absolutely no guarantees", often in the face of workplace/etc. opposition/opinion? By taking out features (ANY features) you are undermining their position, you know. In other words, OSS is not charity, with one side doing what it pleases, and the other side meekly accepting anything it's thrown (or getting stuffed; Bruce Sterling again, it seems). OSS is a process which entitles some responsibility on the devs side, after all. And I wouldn't get so proud of LibreOffice development results in the last couple of years, anyway. Series 3 was okay, but in series 4 and 5 it got bulky and unsafe. I'm having lots of issues, some of them work-stopping, which take devs years to even look at, and now I'm actually waiting with my breath hold for a completion of the "big project" here to move the LO out of the principal workflow. All the details that are needed are in this bug report, though it might not be
clear without knowing that the original bug report was about URL recognition.
The mentioned sample text ("40V, 200mA, h=100@1V,10mA") contains a "@", which
causes "100@1V" to be recognized as a URL when it's entered. This report is not
about the URL recognition itself, but about some issues when it comes to
working with cells containing URLs.
For the 1st issue you have to type the text in, or copy/paste and trigger
autocorrect with a space in the appropriate position.
For issues 2-4 you can use the text with the recognized URL, but to make it
easier, I'm attaching it in a file as well.
Based on the attachment:
2. Switch to A2, then back to A1 using the keyboard. Note how the Input line
shows the URL as a URL (like the cell).
Now do the same using the mouse (select A2, then A1). Note how the Input line
shows the URL as plain text.
3. When it shows the URL as plain text in the Input line, select part of the
URL there, for example "00@1V". The cell shows the selection incorrectly ("0mA"
for me in this case).
4. Interestingly, right now I can't reproduce this (eg. using autocomplete to
enter the same entry in another cell does produce the link inside). I doubt
it's fixed, but I don't want to spend too much time on this.

Hi, people.
I sincerely don't know what else to provide as information about this problem.
The steps that I follow are simply:
1 - download the first document that I attached (which I labeled as "Document
before changes in LibreOffice")
2 - open it with Impress
3 - just save as with another name
4 - click that you want to keep it in Microsoft's format <--- this is a
critical step
5 - close the original document
6 - open the copy that you saved as
You will see that a lot of things have changed. Fortunately, I discovered this
before I had people complaining at me.
To be more precise, I don't know how to dump the data structures that
libreoffice read from the original document (while things were in memory) and
dump what those data structures contain right before they hit the disc.
I note here that a step that is important to give me the loss of formatting
that I'm seeing is telling LibreOffice to keep the document in Microsoft's pptx
format (step 4).
For completeness, I am using Debian's version 1:5.2.2~rc2-2 on an amd64
computer, but I have seen this bug since before I reported it.
Please, *do* help me get a better bugreport, since the issue is so macro that I
don't know how to break it into smaller pieces.

So some else has to look, what goes wrong here. Perhaps it matters, whether it is a TrueType (ttf) or OpenType (otf) font? The GNU freefont "FreeSerif" has got this double strike glyphs. http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/freefont/. It is part of the .zip file. For my Windows 7 I have chosen the .ttf variant. The problem is clear now. When you see a rectangle instead of the character that means, that the selected font has no glyph for the code point. Nevertheless the input method with Alt+x after a U+1 still works. In my Word 2010 I see the same rectangles with the .docx file as in LibreOffice with the .odt file. It might be, that Word 2013 has some font substitution. So you need to figure out, which font Word 2013 is actually using and set this font in LibreOffice too. So I think, this is not really a bug.
