[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92335] FILEOPEN FILESAVE: Character style for bullets added every time docx document is saved

lbrown86...@gmail.com changed:

This bug still occurs, and has gotten worse. I am using v5.2.3 on Debian Sid
(amd64).

Repeating the reproducibility steps given in the original report, every time
the original reporter saw one new Listlabel style being added, when I tested a
couple of weeks ago I was seeing NINE being added, one selected, and eight
additional unused ones.

This creates a usability problem, as I have experienced working recently on
some docx files. Over several days I quickly ended up with thousands of these
Listlabel styles, which pollutes and lengthens the list.

Furthermore, with the largest docx document I have been working on, just as I
had it finished, I opened it again to discover that all of my paragraph styles
had been lost. I don't know for certain whether this relates to the total
number of Listlabel styles I had accumulated (4100+), but after importing the
styles from an older ODF file backup, and reapplying the styles, I kept running
into the problem after a couple of saves. I solved this problem by importing
the styles, and then using a rough macro I put together to strip out all of the
ListLabel styles, before then reapplying all of the styles, and everything
seems fine with it again, which suggests that it is related. Thankfully I was
aware of this bug, could make an educated guess at what might have been wrong,
had enough skill to create a macro to get rid of these styles, had a backup,
and thus got through the problem, but there are many people out there who would
be completely lost, and experiencing a problem like this would be likely to
discourage people from switching away from word to Libreoffice.

The same formula with HarfBuzz common layout but without OpenGL rendering.
Better shaping of the roots and the overbars, presentable.

Composition of nodes with the OpenGL rendering still need attention.

sample of new HarfBuzz based shaping, and GreekCharStyle 2 set -- OpenSymbol

The GreekCharStyle is set to 2 (from Tools -> Options -> Advanced: Expert
Configuration), so Greek Capitals are regular while greek Lowers are italic.

the formula displayed is:

prod %PI %pi sum %SIGMA %sigma int iint coprod a newline
nroot{3}{27} cdot sqrt{9}

The node for the sqrt and the nroot do not quite scale the root sign to join
the overbar -- but position is correct, and substituting a STIX or Asana root
sign does close the gap. So the glyph metrics for the OpenSymbol root can
probably be corrected, or the source for building the node.

The issue here of incorrectly using Segoe UI system font is resolved.

The new HarfBuzz based common layout corrects the incorrect use of Segoe UI in
Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 installs.

The new layout is available in 5.3.0alpha1+ and current master--it is currently
experimental (enable by setting a variable SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT). It is being
finalized and with project ESC approval may be implemented as default for the
5.3.0 release.

It will not be back-ported to 5.2

Please check out a current master, and set variable to test the new layout--it
resolves many font rendering issues affecting the Windows builds.

OpenSymbol rendering in formula nodes containing cdot, sqrt, nroot and the over
bars are much improved. Still some work needed to the source to fully cleanup
scaling of OpenSymbol fonts--but things are better with the formula editor on
Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 with the HarfBuzz layout engine.

I think there is not such bug.

When you use the MONTH() function you gets only the month number 1-12.

The format for dates only works properly on cells with a date value.

So to format for getting the text month you can't extract the month.

Please take a look to the attache file.

Master referencing document with section with hide condition

ToC is never shown in Master Document, if it is in ODT in a section with a hide
condition. It will not be shown even if the condition is false. However, simple
text located in the same section is shown in master document.

To reproduce, extract the attachment in a directory, and open DUMMY.odm. The
other two ODT files are referenced from that master document, and are identical
except second doesn't have a hide condition for its section. The master
document doesn't show ToC from first document, (though simple text from that
section is visible) but shows ToC for second document. The condition for first
document's section is DUMMY1 != 0; this condition is false (as apparent if the
first document is opened itself); there's no User Field named DUMMY1 which is
equivalent to it being 0; and even explicitly defining the User Field equal to
0 doesn't resolve the issue.

Reproducible with:

2016-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103611

Bug ID: 103611
Summary: FILEOPEN: DOCX: Objects with relative position to top
or bottom margin not imported correctly
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lukebe...@hotmail.com

Description:
Bug 103573 fixed the horizontal import of docx shapes with alignment relative
to 'Left Margin' or 'Right Margin'. The import of shapes with vertical
alignment relative to 'Top Margin' and "Bottom Margin' are still unhanded.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Word insert image, texbox, or shape.
2. Set vertical alignment relative to 'Top Margin' or 'Bottom Margin'
3. Save and Open in Writer

Actual Results:
'Bottom Margin' objects are placed on the top.

Expected Results:
Same results as Word

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103093] "Insert as Link" should be renamed to "Reference externally ( non-embedded)"

2016-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Luke from comment #5)
> If we're going to change hyperlink to link. We need to either qualify every

Well, other use (its only one -- so no need for using a plural here AFAICS) of
the word 'link' in LibreOffice is actually misleading:

"Linked text frames" are not really describing well what this feature does (it
describes more what the internal implementation looks like, which should not
bother users): Instead they should be named according to their function e.g. as
"Continuous flow text frame" or some such.

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2)
> Guess most users are aware of what "Insert as Link" (only "[ ] Link" here)
> means

Citation needed ;)
>From my observation of users, the whole concept of having a parts of the
document not stored in the is _not_ at all obvious to many users of the
product. Emphasising the EXTERNAL of this action as early as possible might
help here.

> will rather be confused from this change because "reference"
> reminds to the bibliography.

In "Reference externally" the first word is a verb, not a noun. A native
speaker will not be very likely to confuse this with the latter. In german
"Extern referenzieren" doesnt suggest a strong relation to the bibliography
either.

> The question came up with the change of hyperlink to link, which now makes
> the other 'links' weird.

As said above, the other use of 'link' (its only one: the continuous flow text
frames) in the product are unfortunate in themselves.

> while
> {=AVERAGEIF(B1:B2;A1:A2;A1:A2)}
> computes
> #DIV/0!; #DIV/0!

There's nothing wrong with these.
It may not be immediately obvious, but
* assuming that
=AVERAGEIF(B1:B2;A1:A2;A1) is placed in C1 and
  =AVERAGEIF(B1:B2;A1:A2;A2) is placed in C2
then for the scalar Criteria (2nd parameter) the argument to match
against B1:B2 is taken from the implicit intersection of the range
A1:A2 and the formula cell position, hence the intersection for C1 is
A1 and the intersection for C2 is A2.
  * The range to average (3rd parameter) *starts* at A1 for C1 and A2
for C2, the actual dimension is taken from the range to match the
criteria against.
* For the array/matrix case {=AVERAGEIF(B1:B2;A1:A2;A1:A2)} in the first
iteration the criteria in A1 (empty) is matched against B1:B2 and for
the matching positions (none) the average built over A1:A2 (no value
  => #DIV/0!) as result in row 1.
  * For the second iteration the criteria in A2 (1) is matched against
B1:B2 with TRUE for B1 in the first row and FALSE for B2 in the
second row. For the TRUE matching position row 1 in A1:A2 there is
no value => #DIV/0! as result in row 2.

Patrick,
This is a native IMAGE rotation issue. You are describing a TEXT rotation issue
for importing .docx files. This sounds like Bug 82627 or Bug 76456.

If those are not your issues and you can't find your bug in the tracker, please
file a new bug. Adding noise to unrelated reports doesn't help anyone.

What Samuel said in bug 73151 comment 33: "Being able to pull out elements from
the sidebar is a long-term goal. It will take some time to implement and is
definitely too big for me. So we try to make the best out of the current
situation."

I've added the issue to be discussed at this week's design meeting, along with
having the navigator window docked by default (bug 81902), as Samuel closed it
thinking that there wouldnt be a navigator window anymore.

Also an additional reason - there is no automatic test to check for this
scenario yet. So when we change something we test it "by hand", but this
doesn't check all corner cases or other scenarios that could be affected by the
change (like in this case). An automatic test would solve this as the build
would fail because the test would fail and we would need to fix this right
away. Let's see if we can get a test for this in..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73797] Allow rotation of images in Writer by any angle / degree ( currently only 90° s =?UTF-8?Q?teps=20possible?=), w/options for non-destructive handling of source image

I believe this is related. Created a rounded rectangle shape that is rotated by
something other than 90 degrees in MS Word. When rendered in LibreOffice the
shape rotation is correct but the text within the shape is not rotated at all.
Added a screenshot on 2016-10-31.

I've found a workaround :

Go to Tools>Options>advanced Options and click on "Open advanced configuration"

Search for opensymbol string

Then go to FontFormatList and change the 2 items values from opensymbol to
Symbol

It works fine with me on W10

See the description of bug 103403
You have to launch soffice.exe from the same terminal window you use to set the

Created attachment 128388
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=128388=edit
screenshot of formula in "Impress edit mode"

I have tried several more things:
* Opening the formula in the math module (by double clicking), and then zooming
in and out makes the vector arrows appear in the math module. But once I leave
the math module and return to impress, the arrows disappear again.
* Changing the font size for the math content (from inside the math module)
does NOT help, the bouning box also resizes and the arrows are not displayed.
* Dragging the outside box from within the math module, does also not help.
After returning to Impress the box is as small as before an the arrows are not
displayed.

I have no objections to changing the bug report title to better account for the
fact that this behavior is only present in the "edit mode" of impress, not in
the "presentation mode". But I do not know how to do this title change, sorry.
Feel free to do so yourself.

I will also attach a screenshot how this formula (of the attached odt file)
looks like on my screen.

If you need more info and details, then please let me know in detail WHAT
information you need.

Bug ID: 103607
Summary: in case only a single document was recovered, don't
ask the user to "finish", instead just open the file
which the user already opted to recover
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: libreoff...@openmailbox.org

Description:
The recovery dialog is a bit convoluted. Users should not have to "finish"
(what does that even mean?) the recovery dialog in cases where only a single
file is recovered. see other fields for details

Steps to Reproduce:
1. user is asked to Recover or Cancle
2. select "Recover"

Actual Results:
disclaimer: this concerns only the case where a single file has been recovered.

user is presented with dialog shown in screenshot. dialog suggests that one
file was successfully recovered.

user is super happy. but...

Expected Results:
... why does the user have to click on "finish" in order to actually proceed?
what value is gained in that step?

I suggest the following more sane workflow:

1. if the file is successfully recovered → open the damn file (: done
2. if the file cannot be recovered, show a dialog and explain why and what
happened.

Makes sense?

Reproducible: Always

I noticed that when I copy and paste I lose my text after a particular keyboard
sequence i.e. copy + paste

This happens when I have not yet pasted, the stuff that is our ought to be in
the clipboard of the operating system does not paste itself to the spreadsheet
and I risk losing the information therefore.

To reproduce
1. Select text from L3:5 and select copy [Ctrl + C], then distract myself
changing to another spreadsheet
2. Try to paste [Ctrl + V], the paste function sometimes does not happen!

Just an addendum:
if the translation would have been there (checked in), but not used, then it
would be a bug, but the samples that Stuart picked are from a different version
of the dialog (the one used in 5.2).

It has been changed in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/27866
and the templates for master have not been updated yet (5.2 projects in pootle
have just been created).

So as Adolfo wrote: new/not yet translated strings, will show up in pootle
soon, and make their way into the next 5.3 build (beta1)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103605] New: Starting/ Opening of LibreOffice crashes every time after second time after fresh installation , but never when Java Console is open

2016-10-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103605

Bug ID: 103605
Summary: Starting/Opening of LibreOffice crashes every time
after second time after fresh installation, but never
when Java Console is open
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: i...@martinmueller.ch

Description:
The realease of 5.2.2.2 (but also 5.1.5.2) on macOS (10.12.0 and 10.12.1, but
possibly also on 10.11.6 (I am not sure anymore)) crashes every time after a
fresh installation, except for the first time starting/opening it. It does not
matter whether it is being started by opening the LibreOffice application
directly, or by opening a LibreOffice document, e.g. a Writer document. It is
fully reproducible. And the crash produces always the same segmentation fault
crash report (see attchment).

However, if you open the the Java Control Panel (current version, Java 8-Update
112, but also valid for some earlier update(s)) in the macOS system preferences
before starting the LibreOfiice application, it does never (!) crash and you
can normally use LibreOffice as expected!!! You can now work with LibreOffice
as expected, even if you close the JAVA Control Panel in the mean time. In the
mean time you can for example save and reopen (Writer) documents; it works as
expected. But, as soon as you restart LibreOffice without an open Java Control
Panel it crashes during opening with the same results again. Again, this
behavior is fully reproducible.

It does also crash with LibreOffice 5.1.5.2. Exactely the same behavior.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install release 5.2.2.2
2. Start/open application
3. work with it or not
4. close/finish it
5. Start again for the second or xth time, it crashes always with the same
(reason in the) crash report (see attachment)

However, if you open the the Java Control Panel (current version, Java 8-Update
112, but also valid for some earlier update(s)) in the macOS system preferences
before starting the LibreOfiice application, it does never crash and you can
normally use LibreOffice!!! You can now work with LibreOffice as exected, even
if you close the JAVA Control Panel in the mean time. In the mean time you can
save and reopen (Writer) documents; it works as expected. But, as soon as you
restart LibreOffice without an open Java Control Panel it crashes during
opening with the same results again.

Actual Results:
It crashes and OS produces a crash report (segmentation fault).

Expected Results:
Starting the application.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I am working with macOS and LibreOffice configured with German user interface.
However it does not matter whether I install the LibreOffice's German language
interface or not.

I tried with LibreOffice 3.3, which is identical to the original OpenOffice and
no "Properties" context menu item appears when clicking. Is this some recent
addition by Apache OpenOffice?

What about your original problem? What should we do with the document to see

@Khaled, *

Not sure it is reasonable to expect the new layout engine to rectify this old
Windows font glitch--but it is certainly affected by it.

Opening the new test document from the command line or in a new session from
the Start Center should show the issue well.

Created attachment 128383
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=128383=edit
sample document mixed language multiple fonts

Looking at experimental HarfBuzz based common layout (available on master from
2016-10-21, and in 5.3.0alpha1) and find fallback font use on Windows builds
are still affected by the means of launching Writer module to edit a file.

Attaching a new sample document to better challenge HarfBuzz layout.

It uses a common paragraph rendered in Symbola (ttf-ancient-fonts), DejaVu
Sans, Arial Unicode, and Noto Emoji.

With a SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT variable set when launched from Start Center
receive one layout. And when launched from a command windows with swriter.exe
tdf71603_fallback_testing_All_BMP.odt you get quite different layout result.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103602] new documents fail ODF validation with Error: unexpected attribute "draw:fill"

It is a hard problem. The "draw:fill" attribute may not be used in the element
. And the element has no
other children or attributes that are suitable.

For Draw and Impress, this is solved by an element of style
family "drawing-page". But this family is only usable with draw and
presentation documents.

For Calc it is solved by restricting the background filling to color and image,
because those do not need an attribute "draw:fill". Color is written by the
attribute "fo:background-color" and an image by the child element
 of the element .
Writer was restricted in the same way in older versions of LibreOffice.

So currently exists no way to express other kind of fillings beside color or
image for a text document or for a spreadsheet in ODF.

There are suggestions required, how to solve this problem in ODF. Such
considerations would have been necessary _before_ implementing the new feature.

Another problem is, to get it into the namespace "loext", because only whole
elements and attributes have a namespace, but not a single value.

Where should this be discussed, so that it is really public? Here in the issue,
or on the dev mailing list, or in a Wiki page or ...?
