[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103711] The Eurosign € is not allowed in the name of an area inside the table

2016-11-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103711

You are right. The characters '$','€','£' and '?' are not part of XML1.0 letter
spec. As for my "child" bug#102272, this is obvious an xlsx document not
following the opendoc specs.
All I can wish for in this case is to get notified about this, and given an
option to repair it, wich is clearly an enhancement request.

(In reply to Quintin Frerichs from comment #2)
> I'd like to take this bug, but I don't understand exactly what it means.
> What should I do to get started?

You need to extent the Basic and Python API, as described in comment 1.

However if you do not understand what it means, you probably have not worked
with the UNO API before, and then the bug is quite complicated.

Have a look at
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/GetInvolved

there are many easyhacks defined, it is easier for you to choose one, where you
know how it works.

If you want to solve this bug, then of course you are welcome to do so, but
please assign it to you.

I tried it with the French help pack downloaded from the site, but it does say

Did you upgrade from 5.2.2.2? Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling 5.2.3.3

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56498] Draw UI: add Layer manager window

Mockup

A simple mockup of how the alternative layer manager might work, in addition to
other interesting elements to consider.

Based on my experience as a user, the navigator is only used by power users and
in complex documents. A simple alternative, always visible and similar to that
available in other drawing applications is important.

In the mockup:

• Layer tabs disappear and could give way to a default color bar
• it's used the page pane to toggle between page view and layer view
• Layer view has an interface similar to other drawing applications and only
shows the layers of the current page

To be clear, I used SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT to enable common layout in alpha1,

Is it by design to ignore the scaling under new HarfBuzz layout, or due to a
transient state and to be fixed?

But they don't work when using the intel GPU (Linux version 1.14-1).

JRE and i installed jre8-openjdk and problem disappeared!! at HSQLDB too!

Now on gentoo i have virtual/jre-1.8.0-r1 and
on debian-jessie openjdk-7-jre and default-jre

I had no time to test with different jre s and specially on gentoo it isnt easy
because of compilation time it will take

It seems it is a jre matter

Oops! I hadn't expect and therefore I hadn't found that the menu for named
areas completely with all 5 submenu items is moved from the menu "Insert" (in
german "Enfügen") to the menu "Sheet" ("Tabelle") in LO 5.3 - especially
because in (German) LibreOfficeDev help still only the "old" method via the
Insert menu is described.
I have tested: With the Named cells submenu in the Sheet menu I can handle the
names (set, manaage, insert) in the same manner as with the named areas submenu
of Insert menu in LO 5.2. For me this is OK - my prolem is solved!
I don't know if it is good or necessary that there are two ways to reach the
same result.

Hi,

The word "maffiával" is hyphenated in form maffiá-val instead of maf-fi-á-val,
which is wrong according to the rules of Hungarian orthography.
The word "röffenés" is hyphenated in form röffe-nés instead of röf-fe-nés,
which is wrong too.

The word "elhallgattam" has good hyphenation. Sorry for the mistake.

Interesting we have the same entry on two places with different behavior,
well my mistake, not exactly the same:
Menu/Insert/Named Range or Expression...
Menu/Sheet/Named Ranges and Expressions
With minimal difference on their name.
Doesn't look as a good improvement of the UI.

Menu/Sheet/Named Ranges and Expressions/Define
Menu/Sheet/Named Ranges and Expressions/Create
Menu/Sheet/Named Ranges and Expressions/Label

IMHO should be at least also on Insert, the three entries allow to create
items, 'Named Range or Expression...' only paste the list of NRE on the sheet.

Why not simplify, having only the entry on Sheet. But with a different name for
the main and secondary entries.

BTW I can't see this change on released notes.

It seems to be a more general problem. I see a similar problem with rotated
labels in a chart. The angle of the base line is correct, but the characters
are upright. And the characters in the labels in the vertical ruler are upright
too but should be rotated 90° (bug 103741). And rotated text in a Calc table
cell shows the same error.

I would like to try to solve this EasyHack.

I have already checked recommended sources but I have some questions.

Firstly is there some differences between scanner.l/parser.y and
sourceprovider-*? I know the grammar is different but the generated language is
identical? But I think I will try to start from the UNO IDL syntax description.

Moreover if ctags files are written where should I place/push it? In the LO
core branch? Which folder?

I will try first with regex because the ctags' page recommend. The
implementation is easier but it might be slowly than read by character.

Ok, so I read this:
"
Expressions should limit the names of their identifiers to only ([UNICODE])
letters, underscores, and digits, not including patterns that look like cell
references or the words True or False
"
So € should be allowed.

That build does not have the new HarfBuzz based layout enabled by default. You
would need to set the variable "SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT" to activate it.

But rather than the Alpha1 build, suggest you install current daily build of
master from here: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/

There have been a number of patches of the new common layout since Alpha1 was
built including default enabling of the new layout.

Please test with the new layout enabled either with the Alpha1 or current
master

On Linux, HarfBuzz is used in both old a new layout engines, and the code is

Can you test with the alpha release and see if you can see the difference there

Thanks for checking. Let's see if I understand the buggy document right.
Currently there's nothing wrong with the hyphenation, but if you add further
"x"-es in front of the lines, it'll never break as "maf- / fiával" and "röf- /
fenés".
Not sure what's wrong with the last one, as that one can break at "elhallgat- /
tam".

Issues #2 and #3 share the same cause, and are duplicates of bug 96624. Please
don't open a new report for them.

In ScriptRun::next(), it follows the 5.1 of UAX#24 that parentheses have the

Duration is available, it's for example the [HH]:MM:SS Time format.
Please be more specific about "A duration copy/pasted from sheets or excel is
formatted as a time.".
And of course creating custom formats is possible in the number formatter

No, given that the underlying issue is about Java runtime versions with a three
digit "update number" ("_112") and that one has a two-digit one ("_91").

> With JDK 1.8.0_112 all version of LO from 5.1.3.x to 5.1.6.2 crashes

The theory is that LO 5.1.5 should work (or else there's maybe yet another
issue that's causing a crash for you with LO 5.1.5).

I connected again JDK 1.8.0_91 and it works well, with LO 5.1.6.2 and Sierra
10.12.1.
Strange, isn't it ?

With JDK 1.8.0_112 all version of LO from 5.1.3.x to 5.1.6.2 crashes attempting
to connect to com.mysql.jdbc.Driver.

So focusing on 3), I agree that the StarMath-based code will need a big
refactoring. Maybe a reasonable first step is to focus only on improving the
rendering of stretchy and large operators using the MathVariants subtable. But
otherwise, maybe instead of rewriting everything we just want to use a separate
library such as libmathview (https://github.com/khaledhosny/libmathview/) or
WebKit to provide a visual rendering of the formula that can also be navigated.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103680] Use HarfBuzz ot-math API to parse the OpenType MATH table

2016-11-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103680

So as I see there are several separate issues:

1) Encoding of math formulas
MathML is the standard used in ODF for encoding mathematical formulas and we
can attach semantics annotation to MathML formulas (e.g. StarMath or LaTeX).
Currently we use MathML with StarMath annotation. Storing images of formula for
ODF document would be a horrible solution IMHO but that can still be used for
exporting to other formats (e.g. HTML).

2) Writing math formulas
Of course MathML is not intended to be written by hand. Currently we have
StarMath and a visual editor (disabled by default). It would make sense to add
a LaTeX input method.

3) Abstract tree for rendering/navigation of math formulas
Currently, this tree matches the StarMath syntax which is very poor compared
to MathML or LaTeX. I think we should really have MathML as an internal format
here, so that valid ODF import/export is straighforward and we can manage
additional annotations (LaTeX and StarMath) for more input methods.

IIUC, 3) is the topic discussed here. As Khaled said, using OpenType MATH is
independent of the internal tree.

I beg to disagree with Dieter. While indeed "the rectangles represents the
comments an you can open the comments in the margin by clicking on them", the
comments are _already visible_ in margins when you set this in preferences.
Therefore there is no need to show these rectangles. Note that "print as PDF"
(unlike "export as PDF") works correctly.

You don’t need MathML to render fonts with OpenType math information. But
anyway, ODF actually uses MathML to store math formulas (we currently also
store the StarMath syntax in the MathML “annotation” tag and read it from there
to I guess avoid roundtrip conversion).
