I have the problem already in LO 5.2.3.3 (Win 8.1) that the green gradient
(Tango: green) is shown in the Slide Properties of the Context Menu, but there
is also only a limited selection of gradients available in the Slide Properties
(I can not customise it like in the Side Bar)?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103866] Formula font change

Reproducible with LO 5.2.3.3 (Win 8.1). The characters in the math formula
(with the same font settings) seem to be about 1 or 1/2 (unfortunately I can
not measure it because it is quite small) milimeter lower than the normal text.
Even if it is a small difference you can recognise it with your eyes (see also
the attachment).

But I also have the feeling that the rendering of the characters is a little
bit different. If I have the text and the formula in italics then text seems
to be more italicised (more slanting) that the formula (take the same character
and font settings to test it).

2016-11-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101174

I'm not sure it's possible. To have correct display, glyph's size should be
specifically chosen to be usable stretched, stacked etc. Also, we stretch
characters where they should be composed of a number of parts to display OK
(braces/parens, etc) - now stretching makes glyphs thin etc. Fixing this
requires changing current composition of glyphs. And if we go this route, then
substitute should have these glyph parts available at the same codepoints as
well.

Do I understand it right that the bug you mentioned is that the whole text area
before and after the asterisk has a blue background colour but not the asterisk
itself?

If yes, then I confirm it with a new text file and also with your sample
document with LO 5.2.3.3 (Win 8.1).

Have functional implementation of that now, with a text selection made using
context menu's Character dialog--or via Format -> Character launch of the
dialog--a preview is rendered into the box in the dialog (not on the document
canvas).

The trigger to refresh the preview of the selection is a _mouse click_ on a
font from the list.

Conceivable to make the selection preview mouse over while scrolling the font
list in the dialog--but if implemented that could not be the default behavior
for its obvious performance impact.

A better solution is changing svtools/source/control/ctrlbox.cxx:
-if ( bGapChange && nGap > MINGAPWIDTH )
+if ( bGapChange && nGap >= MINGAPWIDTH )

The width size is automatically increased to 1.10 when reloaded.

However, that looks like it exposes another bug, where extra borders are added
to other cells - perhaps because of duplicate styles.

@Khaled, issues of duplicate bugs bug 100746 and bug 103745 are not appreciably
corrected by commits closing this issue. Should they individually be reopened,
or will you take another whack at this?

Scaling issues can be seen in attachment 126046 from tdf#100746, and the sample
Starmath formula from tdf#103745:

widevec {P_0 P_1}
widehat {P_0 P_1}
{x+y+z} overbrace {}
{x+y+z} underbrace {}

or the issues in scaling glyphs for formula node composition as in this
Starmath:

nroot{3}{27 over 2} cdot sqrt{9}

although that is admittedly equally an issue with node composition in sm math
module.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103881] New: Font scaling with HarfBuzz common layout breaks down for huge fonts

2016-11-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103881

Bug ID: 103881
Summary: Font scaling with HarfBuzz common layout breaks down
for huge fonts
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha1+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu

Description:
With HarfBuzz common layout and OpenGL or GDI+ rendering scaling of large fonts
"huge" are no longer rendered.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open sample document attached from OOo issue 47675
With new layout
With old layout

Actual Results:
With new layout the base line is miscalculated and glyphs extend beyond top
margin, also glyphs for the second line of text are not rendered.

Expected Results:
New layout would mostly match old layout.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: yes

Additional Info:
Work on bug 103725 brings reasonable scaling for most text. The routines for
scaling "HUGE" text are not correct.

This is a massive request and not within the current scope of LibreOffice.
There are other pieces of software that can accomplish this but it's not going
to happen within LibreOffice. Similar requests to add an equivalent to
Microsoft Outlook have been shot down after extensive discussions. At this
point in time, we're sticking with the five components that are already
included. Moving this to NEW wouldn't do anyone any favors, it'd sit there
indefinitely and rot. Best to just mark as WONTFIX.

The default, when inserting an equation, is a Math-OLE anchored "as character"
with assigned frame style "Formula". So an equation is initially always
"inline" and you need to take additional steps to make it floating.

A margin of 0 is correct too, in case you put the equation as first and only
item in a line. I do not see why complex multi-line formulas would need a
horizontal margin.

> Why not additional frame style formats?

This issue is about the default style. Additional frame styles would not solve
this problem.

The ESC decided to drop support for Type 1 fonts, so I’m closing this as
invalid since 5.3 does not support Type 1 fonts by default (they are still
supported by the old, non-default layout engine but this will also go away).

Please re-open if the bug is still reproducible with 5.3.

Just changing the font is not enough, may symbols are hardcoded to use PUA code
points from OpenSymbol, so changing the font will give you garbage. This needs
to be fixed first.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103878] New: na enhancement for the font selection

2016-11-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103878

Bug ID: 103878
Summary: na enhancement for the font selection
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.3.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jlbr...@portugalmail.com

When we select a font for a selected text, we would like to see first how the
text would look with that font. This way, we wouldn't have to select each font
manually, one by one, until we find a cool one. At the same time we slide from
font to font on the font list, the selected text could appear formatted with
the font over which the mouse is hovering. I guess this is called the live
preview, and I guess I saw it happening once, but never again. Was it removed?
That feature was useful.

Hi.

I once wrote this before, but I'd like to update the importance of my request.
I still think there should be an extra program on the entire suite: a
LIbreOffice webpage builder. It might seem there is no necessity for this, but
the fact is, in the 21st century, the creation an edition of webpages is
something essencial to every working office, perhaps even more than a database,
especially if we consider a web designer office. If LO includes a database
creator, why not a webpage creator?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103874] New: a conflict between text color and background color

2016-11-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103874

Bug ID: 103874
Summary: a conflict between text color and background color
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.3.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jlbr...@portugalmail.com

I inserted a footnote in a textline in a table cell. I set the text to blue and
the asterisk which leads to the footnote in red. But then I wanted to make the
text white and the background color blue. Whenever I selected the text
(including the asterisk) and did that, what happened was that the character
area belonging to the asterisk didn't change color. It results in white text
(alright), red asterisk (alright), blue background (alright), and a small
vertical rectangle behind the asterisk, with the page colour in the middle of
the blue background (and that's not right)!

2016-11-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103873

Bug ID: 103873
   Summary: Images slows program down
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: decomarks2...@googlemail.com

Writer slows down when I insert a high resolution photo such as one taken on a
phone or camera. Pictures that I download of the internet don't slow it down. I
am ending up having to resize the image just to make it work. This is extra
work that I shouldn't have to do.

You are right. Seems it has been changed with Firebird 2.0. Have tested the
insert with 32765 - works right.
