Just to clarify:

the layout loop problem was fixed with commit
9857c6390212e16dd9f26b47b4afc5d33b5242ef, and it worked OK for 5.0.0.0.beta1.
Then, it was reverted in commits 64dc505ce180a168798b725423a308207de42c63 (for
branch 'libreoffice-5-0') and dfedebd1e1912252bc2b5204a2b5371952b552cd (for
master), so it already didn't work for 5.0.RC1+. Then, for 5.1, it worked again
between 46a76be3a13ad501e4d09da652f551b2c621e685 and
6a55792cdd39f95c28a929cd0c1c1a3e89e00cfd.

I suppose that for Windows, using its own "Default Programs" is the proper way
of fixing this. So, when bug 104793 is resolved, this one will be resolved,
too.

Not sure about other OSes, as mentioned in comment 7. So, I don't mark these
bugs as dupes. However, I don't believe that LO should do OS (DM) integration
itself. Rather, for each OS we should have its own proper method, like e.g.
installer for Windows does. LibreOffice application itself should stay
registration-agnostic.

I guess my description and title were not clear enough. This is NOT a
regression. 

The DOCX importer incorrectly maps Word's "Top Margin" to "Margin". The MS-DOC
importer correctly maps it to "Entire Page". This is not about the regression,
bug 96218, that's a separate issue which is why I filed a separate report.

Verified that indentation issue was fixed in Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+

When saved as .doc, the document looks good in both Writer and Word. Don't know

Description:
Recently I got Tangut N4694 font from http://ccamc.co/fonts.php to test
vertical Tangut text. On LODev 5.4.0 alpha0 I found several Tangut Components
shifted to left, because some of them are not em-width.

This is reproduced only with OpenGL enabled, because when I disabled OpenGL,
the text orientation are failed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attachment 128899 with LODev 5.4.0 alpha0
2. Replacing the font face as Tangut N4694

Actual Results:  
See attachment 129800 (with OpenGL) and attachment 129801 (without OpenGL).

Expected Results:
When you use Tangut N4694 font, several proportional characters within Tangut
Components range should be centered within vertical texts.

Simple .doc file with justified text and section break

The MS-DOC standard has a quirk where if you end a justified paragraph with a
section break and no carriage return, the last line will be justified.
(Normally last line is left aligned). For some reason, just before a section
break (page or continuous), our exporter throws away the final return. As a
result, justified .doc files with section breaks get damaged on round-trip when
opened in MS Office.

This is a single user machine.
It is an Apple macintosh not a Window$ machine.
There is no user profile that I know of.
My comment about the filter is taken up in detail in another bug report.
I was only noting that there are several problems with this version of this
software.

Re - "No special steps"
I guess this depends on what you consider "special".
Pulling down the Data menu and selecting a feature named "AutoFilter" is not
something I consider "special".
Maybe I misunderstand your terminology.
There are certainly no special steps required to move the cursor from one cell
to another and enter/change data therein.

Following the instructions in the link provided is a dead end.
There is no user profile file in my computer.
There is no "system tray" on an Apple computer.
There is no "restart in safe mode" option in the LO Help menu.
I have not tried the "safe mode" start up yet.
How do I find a User Profile in Libre Office in a Mac?
There is no "Options" entry in the "Tools" menu, as stated in the link
instructions to find the User Profile.
This is what I get in terminal mode ...

Doing a hard recalc works fine, it is a xlsx file, you can set up to always
recalculate the file at opening.

Menu/Tools/Options/LIbreOffice calc/Formula - Recalculate on file load,

change it to 'Always' or 'Prompt user'.

Option was incorporated to avoid an initial recalculation on large files.

Hi,

  I experience the same problem. Maybe even "worse". I have a text in gedit in
order to be able to paste it in Impress (but I think the problem arises also in
Calc and Writer). Usually I can do paste special, but some times, for no
reason, it is disabled (grayed). Btw, If I paste the text from gedit with the
regular paste, then I have another behaviour (for ex, in a bulleted line, it
takes out the bullet). I have:

Date is defined with Custom Properties.
Date is shown in odt correctly on windows7 and mac os x.
Date is shown in odm file still correct (dd.mm.yy); however, wrong (mm/dd/yy)
on max os x.

Hello Everybody.

At this dead keys problem, I stumble upon now. Ever since a few weeks, I work
at a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04 - along with KDE Plasma 5.6.5, installed
via the Kubuntu ppa backports. Dead keys work in all applications except
LibreOffice - version 5.1.4.2. I am using the keyboard "USA International". A
character like ä is no problem in most of the applications. They same applies
for e.g. the double quotation mark (") - the key that needs to be pressed first
in order to get ä. However, in Libreoffice in my configuration as summarised
here, signs like " and ä do not show up. I have similar problems with
characters like à, é, ë, ñ. č, etc. Also signs like `, ~ or ' do not show up in
Writer or any other Libreoffice application. It does not matter whether I work
in Dutch, English, Italian, French, German or whatever - the problem remains
the same - however, as I said, just in LibreOffice. 


The only workaround I have found so far is editing a text in another
application (Kate, BlueFish or whatever) and copy-pasting it into LibreOffice. 
The workaround mentioned in comment 6 does not work here. I DO manage to invoke
libreoffice from the command line -  "libreoffice" does end up in the following
sequence:

Variants like "libreoffice4.2" or "libreoffice5" do not produce any result.
On the other hand - the simple command line command "libreoffice", without
anything else, is already enough to invoke that application. During my main
working session of today, Tuesday 20 December 2016, I have done so by purpose.

This issue was first brought up by Timur Sattarov on Dec 1, 2015, but then
deemed a duplicate of bug 50097:

When reading docx file that contains Word Content Controls, MS Word shows "data
from databinding", but Libreoffice shows only the placeholder text.

Note: This is NOT a duplicate of bug 50097 as this issue is about the wrong
text being displayed when a .docx file is opened in Writer. Instead of
resolving the XML file and displaying the text from the XML file (like Word
2016 does), Write just displays the placeholder text.

When saving a Calc file as Xlsx, a message is generated to warn of possible
data/formatting loss:


Maybe this standard warning about possible changes in a document when changing
the extension could be more detailed? Eg: when cell borders are detected: "line
thickness will not be kept when changing to the xlsx format".


A short term and maybe more easy improvement could be a link to a wiki page
where the results of the conversion are explained. On that page all important
changes when saving as xlsx could be mentioned.

The hairline cell border style in Excel is imported as a solid border in Calc.
There's a Calc cell border style that would be better suitable for this, maybe
this behavior should be changed.

Bug 89469 should probably not have been closed as a dupe.

Aha, so no need to select the entire text.
I was used to selecting the entire content of the document and upon selecting
it all I was trying to change the language, but the language options were
greyed out.
I somehow missed the "For all text" option.
My apologies.

zipped New Microsoft Word Document .docx Created In Folder By Right Mouse
Button Click And Menu Item Selection

The system would not allow me to upload the "New Microsoft Word Document.docx"
file created in a windows folder by a right mouse button click and menu item
selection. This has hightlighted what is probably the cause of the problem
described in this ticket, the file is zero size. I have zipped up the file to
enable it to be uploaded.

I have checked that if I open a "new" blank word document using Microsoft 2013,
make the same edits described in this ticket, then just press the "save" button
and close the document, that the document then opens and displays correctly in
both Word 2013 and LibreOffice.

So, there is no way to ask for an enhancement of api or otherwise ask for a
feature that currently is not in libreoffice. got it. thanks.

On one hand you talk of using filters, on the other you say "No special steps".
I take it the filter stuff is just something you wanted to mention and no test
case is needed. If so, there is indeed something special in your system.

You should try this first:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists after profile reset. Change
to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

I fully realize that there is not currently API support. This ENHANCEMENT
request is about adding that API support.
