But isn't it *using* stuff from a wrong include file that indicates something
is wrong, not where the include file is located? Anyway, I'm fine with
resolving this as NOTABUG; Eike is right that no easy hacker will understand
the subtleties involved. Not even I do.

Should we instead then have a difficultyInteresting easyHack (a contradiction
in terms...) to find these includes and fix the code to not need stuff from
such a "wrong" include file at all?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101174] Enable means to change Formula Editor default font from OpenSymbol via Expert Configuration

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101174

My comment would be that it's essential that we be able to change the font of
our formula, independent of this immediate issue with the font metrics of
OpenSymbol. Agree with Stuart's comments about the need to move away from
any/all hard-coded dependencies on a particular font. But in the interim --
switch to a well-behaved font instead!!

I think the bug might actually be in the import filter, because the same bug
occurs when converting a master document to a ODT (flat) document - the
resulting ODT contains none of the subdocuments.

Re the workaround, unoconv 0.7-1.1 with LibreOffice 5.1 does convert the master
document correctly to a PDF, including repagination. "unoconv -f pdf
--output= " is the command to
use.

This bug is still present in LibreOffice 5.3.0~rc3.

You might be able to do the conversion using unoconv (I'm using v0.7-1.1).
unoconv used to suffer from this bug, but it seems to be importing the subdocs
correctly when converting to pdf now. (When it used to have the same bug, I
used to make unoconv convert the master document to ott first and then to pdf.
But now unoconv just converts the master document to a master document with an
ott extension if you ask it to do this.)

I can't use unoconv to convert my master documents, though, because I have a
program insert text into the subdocuments, and unoconv doesn't repaginate
anymore when doing the conversion so the extra text gets all bunched up at the
bottom of the page and is unreadable. So it would be great if soffice could
correctly import the subdocs when doing the conversion.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106544] New: Calc: Merge cells dialog is difficult to understand for new/infrequent users

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106544

Bug ID: 106544
Summary: Calc: Merge cells dialog is difficult to understand
for new/infrequent users
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu

Have entries in two adjacent cells, and try to merge them. You get a dialog
like this:

"Some cells are not empty.
o Move the contents of the hidden cells into the first cell
o Keep the contents of the hidden cells
o Empty the contents of the hidden cells"

At this point there are no hidden cells, there's no mention that certain cells
are going to be hidden, or why it matters that certain cells are not empty.
These could be puzzling to users unfamiliar with the procedure.

Compare this to Excel's dialog:
"Merging cells only keeps the upper-left cell value, and discards the other
values.
OK / Cancel"

It offers less choices, but the procedure is clear.
Could we have a similarly clear dialog? Additionally, "the contents of the
hidden cells" appears in each choice, it would be nice to move the text before
the selection somehow.
I wish I could suggest a good replacement text...

ARGH! Can we please be VERY SENSIBLE about this? It leads to blindly moving
headers into a module's global inc/ directory, making them available to each
and every source file of that module effectively destroying the separation of
view, core, filter even further. Examples of such bad moves are
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a0f6374670f67646e802aef45d927a8746b2ae12
moving Calc ViewData around and the just pending
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/34827 that even wanted to move ScDocShell which
would be an invitation to use it about ~everywhere.

I rather prefer having some sporadic
#include "../../ui/inc/xxx.hxx"
if really necessary than letting run this loose. Specifically UI view related
classes are not to be offered for general use even if now and then they may be
needed by filter code.

I also consider deciding how to solve things by no means an EasyHack in all
cases unless we don't care about model separation anymore.

Or am I just on the wrong track and everything is fine?

Description:
After creating an X-Y scatter graph and adding an axis label to the Y-axis, the
Y-axis label only shows the bottom half of the text, making it illegible. Only
fix found so far is to rotate the axis label to be perpendicular to the axis,
however this is not ideal.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create X-Y scatter chart.
2.Add Y-axis label.
3.

Actual Results:
Top half of the text not shown.

Expected Results:
Full text should be shown.

Reproducible: Always

Bug ID: 106541
Summary: FILEOPEN: Top level numbering is not considered in
this DOC/DOCX
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu

  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=131891&action=edit
Sample DOCX

In the attached documents (same content, one in DOC, the other in DOCX format)
there are two levels of numbering. In LibreOffice the first level is not shown.

Additionally, the DOC is shown slightly differently (worse) in Writer compared
to the DOCX.

Tested with LO 5.3.0.3 / Windows 7.

It's visible on print preview, you don't need to export as pdf.

I don't understand, except LibreOffice doesn't import fine the 'Autofit'
option, why it should be applied as if it was disable?,
what is then the purpose of the option?

See bug 58874, comment 11
Like with OFFSET this may be similar for INDIRECT constructed with an array
(here ROW(3:12)) in that Excel internally processes a list of single arrays for
which SUBTOTAL in array context acts on the individual arrays.

> It is not only when OFFSET is inside SUBTOTAL.
> =OFFSET(A1;ROW(1:4);0)
> result in an array of 4 cells (A1:A4) in Calc
> result in 4 arrays of 1 cell in Excel.
Thanks for analysing and the example. I'm not sure that's all there is to it,
but it may explain why in Excel it's not possible to enter
{=OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)} as a two-cells array formula (results are all #VALUE!),
whereas Calc has no problem with.

Currently there are no means to return (and further process) a vector of
arrays, each one element in this example but {=OFFSET(A1:A3,{2,4},0)} probably
should return 2 arrays of 3 rows each (for A3:A5 and A5:A7), which actually
already almost happens, the final Calc result is a 2 columns x 3 rows matrix,
but it gets a little weird with {=OFFSET(A1:B3,{2,4},0)} ...

Squeezing such "vector of arrays" (if that really is what there is to it) into
the existing interpreter structures would be quite challenging..

However, in Excel the support of that seems to be very special cased, for
example with A1:A5={1;2;4;8;16} the expression =SUMPRODUCT(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0))
(or =SUMPRODUCT(OFFSET(A1,{2;4},0)) for {2;4} column vector just in case it
mattered) simply does not work and returns 0, not even an error, within or
without array context. Also =SUM(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)) does not yield the
expected result of 20 but 4 instead, entered as array formula it returns the
array {4,16}, so treating the two arrays as independent, both results the same
as with =SUBTOTAL(9,OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)). To me this is all a mess and I'm not
sure if we aren't just chasing a corner case of undefined behaviour and
implementation detail. It may make sense for SUBTOTAL to treat the array
results independently, but otherwise?

Btw, Gnumeric for those examples
a) =SUMPRODUCT(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)) gives 4
b) {=SUMPRODUCT(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0))} gives 0
c) =SUBTOTAL(9,OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)) gives 4
d) {=SUBTOTAL(9,OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0))} gives 20
e) =SUM(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0)) gives 4
f) {=SUM(OFFSET(A1,{2,4},0))} gives 20

Hooray.

Calc gives 20 for a) and b), which to me is the only logically correct result,
and c)-f) are identical with Gnumeric.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106450] Admin Console: missing version numbers

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106450

1. As you said, i had a look in src/admin and i realised that admin-bundle.js
was autogenerated and it takes its code from the various js files in admin
folder.
So, i will change the AdminSocketSetting.js instead of admin-bundle.js.

2. I read more about git review and by using 'git commit --amend resolved the
error'. I have updated the new patch now.

Thanks Aron

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106540] New: Generating PDF file using cups-pdf with option brochure results in mixed orientation file

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 106540

brochure results in mixed orientation file
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: f.de.kru...@gmail.com

I have a Writer document with 24 A5 pages of which I need to make a PDF file in
brochure layout. When I generate it via printing to a file I get a PDF file
with the proper layout, however the page characteristic of the file is A5,
where I would expect an A4.

When generating the PDF file in brochure layout using cups-pdf I get a PDF file
with pages which are a mix of portrait and landscape oriented pages. Using the
utility pdfmod I can make all pages with the the same orientation. However
printing without rescaling gives an A5 on A4 paper size.

Paragraphs of the document are composed of styles with Character styles "scaled

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106526] UI 4k Slide Presentation screen causes crash for x86, messed up for x64

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106526

Looking at the crash report, it appears calling routines and line numbers are
reported (i.e. great diagnostic information).

A cursory code look, I would suspect trouble starts at
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/slideshow/source/engine/slideshowimpl.cxx?h=libreoffice-5-3#n1382
in the addView() routine when the second call to add the Presenter's screen is
called.

I see a number of design patterns used which aren't in my background, so a
developer more practiced in these patterns and this specific code area will
need to do the debugging.

I hope it will be relatively straightforward for a developer to discover why
this code fails on a dual 4K screen and works fine on a dual 1080p screen set.
My guess is there is a constant or two for memory allocation which needs to be
updated from 1920x1080 to 4096x2160 so memory isn't overflowed and corrupted by
a pointer passing a boundary and writing where it shouldn't. This is based on
watching the screen initially paint right, then be overwritten and corrupted by
what I assume is an update pass.

This code will not work on today's current batch of 4K laptop screens with
auxiliary 4K monitor, like what I'm running.

Let me know if I can help whoever is looking at this issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106476] Page formats vary although all page style settings are identical

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106476

I started with ShadowHunt-CS-PageFmtNew,Bad-obfusc.odt

1. Deleted all comments to see if some hidden characters were adding space
No change

2. Turned-off Justification (ugh, hate the mess justification makes)
No change (but a lot easier to read)

3. Removed all manual formatting
Ctrl+A to select all.
Crtl+M to remove manual formatting
That had an effect - more pages now go to the bottom of the page.

4. Looked at Page Style is saw being used - Convert 8
Page size was set to:
- Width 5.00 in
- Height 7.99 in
Changed Height to 8.00 in.
That had an effect - more pages now go to the bottom of the page.

The pages with just text now all seem to go to the bottom.
Chapter pages will still have a gap.
This is due to the chapter title font selected in points and the space
before/after paragraph selected in inches will not evenly fit in the page
height selected.

You have a mix of point sizes and inches.
The only way to make sure all pages fix exactly into the page size within the
margins is to use points and picas everywhere.
That way you can align everything into a grid which fit exactly into the page.
That way you can make the chapter titles a particular point size and set
before/after paragraph in point which will make your pages align to say a 12
point grid.

You cannot set a page size in inches, a font size in points, a before/after
paragraph spacing in inches - and expect everything to fit.

Also LibreOffice makes rounding errors with font sizes which are not exactly an
integer size. I think 10.5, 11.5, etc. does work properly, but other font sizes
like 10.3 will not be sized properly. There is a bad bug in LO.

If you are serious about book publishing take the time to learn how to use
points and picas.
It will make your life much easier.

Maxim,
Thanks for investigating this.

I noticed that in Impress the text format of shapes is centered, while in
Writer it's left-aligned. Could we resolve this inconsistency by making these
new advanced shapes use the same defaults(Center Align) as older versions of
libreoffice and Impress/Calc?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106539] New: Headers/footers cut off in this XLS/ XLSX when exported to PDF/printed

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106539

Bug ID: 106539
Summary: Headers/footers cut off in this XLS/XLSX when exported
to PDF/printed
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu

Created attachment 131887
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=131887&action=edit
Sample XLS

See sample XLS and XLSX with specific margin and header/footer settings. When
it's exported to PDF in Calc, part of the header and footer is cut off. Not
sure if the margins make sense, but in Excel they are exported fine.

In Calc enabling AutoFit height in Format -> Page..., Header/Footer tab fixes
the behavior, but also changes the value of height when the spreadsheet is
saved.

Tested with LO 5.3.0.3 / Windows 7.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106450] Admin Console: missing version numbers

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106450

1. The reason why it isn't in the repository is that the files are generated,
I'd look in loleaflet/src/admin, and add the corresponding code there
(disclaimer: I don't know the code).

2. That's all right, it can still be fixed, you can update your current patch
by making changes (in this case, "git rm "), using "git commit
--amend", and submitting to gerrit again (see relevant part of [1]).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106529] LibO 5.3.1.x breaks extensions for changes in BASIC parser

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Katarina Behrens (CIB) changed:

   What|Removed |Added

--- Comment #7 from Katarina Behrens (CIB) ---
'twas bug#80731 - missing closing parenthesis in Basic expressions is now
considered to be an error (which it really is) instead of being silently
ignored.

So yes, the issues mentioned here are bugs, but bugs in the extensions, not in
Libreoffice core code.

Please have extension authors fix their code.

I have uploaded the patch here.
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/35199/

A few errors seem to have come in though.

1. admmin-bundle.js was being ignored by git so i 'git add -f' it. Now it looks
like a new admin-bunde.js has been added instead of being modified.

2. By mistake i forgot to remove the previous html i wrote. That was very
careless of me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106537] New: PDF inserted as image then cropped - display errors

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106537

Bug ID: 106537
Summary: PDF inserted as image then cropped - display errors
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: photoanimator-li...@yahoo.com

Description:
In creating slides in Draw, I imported PDF single pages and then cropped them
to specific sections of those pages (as trial exhibits for sections of
depositions and evidence). For the first few slides this worked without issue,
but in subsequent slides the thumbnails on the left were not showing the full
cropped section - just a sliver of it. In later slides (16 total) the PDF
image was displaying as expected in the slide itself, but when I clicked off to
another slide then came back to the slide with the newly created PDF image, the
image was gone - leaving just the bounding box and/or shadow of the border if
applied - as if it had 100% transparency applied, but it did not. I then tried
to export it as a PDF file to see if it reappeared in the export, but it did
not.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Re tried many times by deleting and reinserting PDF image, but with the same
results.
2. Tried deleting the slide itself and recreating it, with same results.
3. Tried creating new project and still had the same results.
4. Reverted to opening the PDF page in Gimp, then saving it as a JPG and
importing it as an image and cropping it, and that still works as expected.

Actual Results:
The only way to resolve the issue (work around) was to open the PDF page in
Gimp, then save it as a JPG, then import the JPG version into Draw.

Expected Results:
Already explained above.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No.

Additional Info:
No I didn't try to reset the user profile because the glitch appears to be a
display refresh error because it works as expected in the first few slides, but
then in the following slides the image of the cropped PDF (even happens with no
cropping) does not display in the thumbnails, but the in later slides the image
is invisible in the slide even though it may (or may not) display in the
thumbnail.

Xisco, I thought bug 105225 is for accessing color palettes. This bug covers
the fact that there are no colors or no color palette for charts anymore. Did I
misunderstand the other bug?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106535] New: Improved Help Text for Selection Modes

2017-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106535

Bug ID: 106535
Summary: Improved Help Text for Selection Modes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: harald.koes...@mail.de

The help text page “Selection Mode” is a bit unclear. Hence I propose the
following changes:

Standard selection:
Current text: "Click in text where you want to position the cursor; click in a
cell to make it the active cell. Any other selection is then deselected."
Extending selection:
Proposal: "This is the default selection mode for text documents. With the
keyboard, selections can be performed by Shift+NavigationKey (arrows, Home,
End, Page Up, Page Down). With the mouse, click in the text where the selection
shall begin, hold the left mouse key, move to the end of the selection and
release the mouse key."

Extending selection:
Current text: "Clicking in the text extends or crops the current selection."
Proposal: "By using the arrow keys or the keys Home and End you can extend or
crop the current selection. Clicking into the text selects the text between the
current cursor position and the click position. You also can use (with or
without Shift key) the arrow keys and the keys Home and End to increase or
decrease the current selection."

Also double borders are affected, this bug is still reproductible under 5.2.6.2
(Win64) or also tested on 5.3.0.2 (LInux64Bits)
