Thanks :)

*According to my usage on chrome browser(only)
Most of the issues that i noticed seem to be due to conflicts between the
normal zoom feature of a webpage i.e (ctrl + scroll) and the feature that we
have implemented. Let me explain some scenerios.

1. Keep your mouse outside the doc(somewhere between the doc and scrollbar) and
try to zoom by ctrl + scroll. Sometimes the document gets zoomed and sometimes
the whole webpage gets zoomed.

2. Lets say you have zoomed in a document to 150%, and now you zoom in/out the
webpage. the document zoom gets reset to 100%.(this isn't specifically related
to this feature, but is general)

Urgh.. I am just assuming your crashing 5.2 was using gtk3 as you use GNOME.

Btw. I was able to undock the slides panel in 5.3 in Arch Linux with gtk3, but
I can't get it to dock back!! No crash, though.

If you have a fast machine with lots of RAM, you could try doing your own
build.

I just updated the build dependencies for master (5.4) to the wiki:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Linux_Build_Dependencies#Arch_Linux

(Only difference to the 5.3 deps is that glew changed to libepoxy)

Here are the cloning a building instructions:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/BuildingOnLinux#Cloning_and_building

The only change in your case would be:
./autogen.sh --enable-symbols

That enables the debug symbols.

gtk3 support is built by default. You can always verify from the Help - About
screen.

Well, no need to rename the extension, I opened the file directly from WRITE
and ... OK.
But I think it is not a browser issue, the file that any browser would download
.zip (usually a compressed folder to decompress), and the .zip extension has no
association in Windows 10 that automatically decompresses it with a
doubleclick.
Here, too, it could be a matter of more explicit information, saying only "Open
it in LibreOffice" is not quite explicit: any Windows user, seeing .zip is
brought to click the file to decompress it.

Fix submitted to gerrit for review as https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/35285

I took the chance to also fix the "merge" case, so:
* "Compare" opens a dialog with "Compare to" caption
* "Merge" opens a dialog with "Merge with" caption

Please also note that the "Compare Document..." menu at some point was moved
into the "Track changes" sub-menu (which didn't affect the caption).

Nah, as you can see, it was more like "this fixes a bug and looks otherwise
harmless, let's backport it". Some core parts of LibO were left broken, but
only as aftermath (as they were not free of missign-closing-parenthesis errors
either)

> Still, I do not know if there are other "published" extensions affected.
> Furthermore, there may be users relying on "unpublished" extensions (i.e.,
> extensions they had someone develop for them only to address some need) that
> may be affected.

And not only extensions, I guess there's now thousands of macros that don't
work anymore

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106453] Allow zooming with Ctrl- in Online

2017-03-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106453

So - a nice feature, but also something of a problem.

LibreOffice has to re-render (to pixels) the same scene times where is
the number of clients with different zoom levels. User's experience of latency
is extremely sensitive to the time it takes to render a tile, we already have a
highish network latency and I'm a little concerned here.

So - essentially making it easy to choose different zoom levels is likely to
make LibreOffice Online some multiple of times slower when many people are
using this; so - this is really not the ideal easy-hack =)

To mitigate the potential problem I would like to work to reduce the number of
zoom levels possible - particularly subtly different / fractional zoom levels
are a nightmare. If the zoom just flicks between say 4-5 pre-set zoom levels -
then this makes much more sense: we really want to make sure that our say 50
clients are not all at a different zoom.
+ it would be good to investigate what makes for a good range of levels
there - the smaller the better to be usable and then have an array of these
that we switch between. Of course touch devices can pinch-to-zoom but really we
need to reduce the set of acceptable levels there too I think ;-)

Thanks !

No, it doesn't fail, it just takes some time.

In

it takes

but eventually the new pdf is created.

Could you please attach the original pdf to the ticket ? it would be nice if
you can create a minimal document as the one you mentioned has ~350 pages.

> WHY?

Probably because the app is consuming RAM through either leaking, over zealous
allocation or repeated and useless thread spawning, but finding the cause
requires more precise information.

> Is there some setting that I can adjust to reduce memory usage?

Probably not.

> This may be the reason for the cursor lag.

It might be the symptom, but not the cause.

I am setting this to new, in line with bug 104031

Using test file provided by Steve.

Initial cursor movement up or down or sideways takes more than 1 second - there
is a noticeable lag.

The file also takes a very long time to open on my mid2010 Mac mini, more than
a minute, once LibreOffice has started and displayed the StartCenter.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106589] New: Invalid saving XLSX documents with hidden rows

2017-03-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106589

Bug ID: 106589
Summary: Invalid saving XLSX documents with hidden rows
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ton...@gmail.com

Description:
When XLSX document contains many hidden rows, LibreOffice saves them
incorrectly.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open MS Excel
2. Create new spreadsheet
3. Hide all columns except A
4. Hide all rows except 1
5. Save it as test_excel.xlsx
6. Check file size and ensure saved file opens in Excel and looks the same
(would be 15 KB)
7. Open LibreOffice
8. Open created document and save it as "test_libreoffice.xlsx"
9. Check resulting file size and open it in Excel

Actual Results:
- File size is 3MB (i.e. 500x BIGGER)
- File opens long time (10+ seconds, i.e. 10x LONGER)

Expected Results:
- File size is about 15 KB (no data increase)
- File opens as fast as test_excel.xlsx file (~1 second)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
There is a similar problem with openpyxl. Maybe fix should be done together.

The problem, besides 500x increase in size, is that resulting documents takes
40 seconds to open with Python library and the same 40 seconds to save it
later. It simply too long to be used in production.

Telesto, I am not sure how relevant the responsiveness is to this bug at hand.
For me when I try to install an extension (.oxt file) by double clicking that
file I still run into a hang, LO is completely unusable has to be force quit,
and fans go crazy.

This has not improved since this bug was first reported back in Mai 2016.

I just did a "repair" of my Microsoft Office 2016 and now the described
behaviour is back.

So it seems to be a collision of LibreOffice with MS Office 2016.

Will now reinstall LibreOffice again, which will probably fix it again; I fear
only until the next MS Office update.

So if you want to reproduce the issue, I guess you have to install MS Office
2016 after installing LibreOffice.

I would argue it was not a user change, it was a change made by libreoffice

Quick Mock-up

While I agree that a way to show where direct formatting is is highly
desirable, in my opinion the use of highlighting for that task is not a good
idea because that automated highlighting will be easily confused with a real
document formatting. Any system used to indicate where direct formatting is
applied must be easily recognizable. See attached image for an idea.

OpenCL was enabled.
After disabling, I can no longer reproduce the problem.
Thank you for the pointer!

To be accurate:
OpenCL was not enabled, but 'allow use of software interpreter (even when
OpenCl is not available)' was enabled.
This I disabled and made the problem disappear on the machines I checked so
far.

All machines are Windows7Pro.

So I've reverted. For 5.3.1 we're sadly too late to a party (released
yesterday)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106591] New: FILEOPEN: LibreOffice hangs when trying to open the attached .odp file

2017-03-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106591

Bug ID: 106591
Summary: FILEOPEN: LibreOffice hangs when trying to open the
attached .odp file
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.1.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)

  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
The attached .odp file was created with LibreOffice 5.2.4, I believe, but now
LibreOffice hangs every time I try to open it. When I tried downloading and
installing 5.2.4 to open it, it also hangs. So I believe the file must have
become corrupted, somehow.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download attached file
2. Open with LibreOffice
3. Watch it hang

Actual Results:
LibreOffice hanging.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice not hanging.

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101

Oops. It's not hanging anyway, it's just very slow.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89139] DATALOSS FILESAVE: xlsx pivot table corrupted after save with LO and re-open with MS Office

2017-03-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89139

The Attached file, once resaved with LO 5.3.1.1 x64 (win7 pro) and then
reopened with MS Office 2013 makes MS Office crash when trying to Update the
PivotTable.

When reopener with MS Office it asks me to repair the file, which I do.

@Heiko:
In the Bug 79420 report, you mentioned that this is being implemented on
(Comment #5). Do you have any additional insight in this regard? Any idea for
what release of LO this is targeted?
