[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106786] FILEOPEN: DOC: Empty gap at the beginning of the document
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106786 Justin L changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |NEEDINFO See Also||https://bugs.documentfounda ||tion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41 ||542 --- Comment #2 from Justin L --- I'm not sure what I should do with this regression (which is connected to bug 41542). The problem here is that the "no spacing" paragraph style does not have a borderline defined, but does have a 0.43inch spacing-to-contents padding, and that is where the "gap" comes from. Before 5.3, LO improperly ignored that padding setting. In Word, if I look at the border settings, they do not reflect the 0.43inch padding seen in Writer, and if I make any slight border changes, the spacing-to-contents disappears in Writer. (However, a simple .doc round-trip through Word does not cause the spacing-to-contents to disappear.) In Word, if I "save as" .docx format, then the border spacing-to-contents disappears in Writer. I agree that there is a disconnect between Word and Writer during import though. Word seems to be ignoring the padding value - perhaps the value is larger than Word's internal limit, and thus is replaced by defaults? I also note that if the document is round-tripped through Writer, then everything is "fixed". So, my conclusion is that this example document is not in a valid .doc format. Please provide a clean "created in Word" document that displays the same symptoms to further pursue this bug. Otherwise, I suggest it be marked as WontFix. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

When using the TAB or ENTER key the behavior is correct. However, when using the cursor arrows it is possible to easily navigate to protected cells that are (should be) unselectable. Also it's possible to enter the cell name of a protected cell in the name box and that cell will be selected. This seems like a bug to me. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new Calc file 2. Protect the sheet. Deselect "Select protected cells". Keep "Select unprotected cells" selected. Actual Results: When using TAB or ENTER key nothing happens (cell A1 will stay selected) as expected. However, pressing the cursor arrows will change the selected cell. Also entering a cell in the name box will select that cell. Expected Results: It should never be possible to select unselectable protected cells. Using the cursor arrows or name box should not make ik possible to select these cells. An unselectable protected cell should be unselectable at all times and in any situation. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106896 Bug ID: 106896 Summary: Writer freezes when editing table cells crossing to next page (And Workaround) Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.6.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: com...@protonmail.com I created tables in an article, some of them extend 2 pages. Writer freezes every time when i edit text in a cell at the end of a page, i.e. when the input in this cell makes it begins to cross to next page. As a Workaround i push the whole cell into the next page, by inserting empty lines in an upper cell or above the table. After editing the cell on next page, i delete the empty lines and make that cell return to its place. Now this cell extends 2 pages and i can edit it without crashes. However, when the editing makes it return to a cell on only 1 page and then again makes it starts to cross to next page, Writer freezes again. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It is a > > quite handy feature, which I frequently use and really like. I am quite sure > > that other people are using it, too. > > What do you use it for? Gerry posted his use case here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Talk:Proposals_for_removing_features "I have all documents in Libreoffice (including all their layout and formatting, of course). It is very handy to move (parts of) documents over to Writer/Web, switch to HTML source code, edit/refine the source code, switch back to Writer/Web view to see how it looks, switch back to source code and copy the relevant part of the source code to use it further for websites or CMS. In my opinion, only the tight integration with the office suite allows to not lose formatting in this kind of workflow." Usually CMSes include embedded WYSIWYG rich text editors like CKEditor or TinyMCE. If there are problems with the CMS editors accepting pasted formatted content from LibreOffice, bugs can be filed against them. Writer/Web cannot be used as a reliable preview of how something looks like in a browser and to bring it to such a state would require a huge investment of developer resources. We cannot compete with the developer tools in browsers. Honing them has taken dozens, probably hundreds of man years. Interaction with JavaScript, responsive design etc. - there is no way we could implement this. We should not try to compete with desktop WYSIWYG editors as they are very niche and ill-suited for web design and development. If they wish, developers can shed light on the technical challenges regarding a decision to amp up our HTML WYSIWYG capabilities. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
