Well if you could make a copy of the document(s) and then change all characters
to X (with regex find and replace), save it. Check it is still having issues
with selection, and then save as a Flat XML ODF file.

Then post that redacted document--that way we could see the formatting that
might be causing the issue, and test its behavior with a default user profile.

You can always stick your head in the sand. Whether it's a good tactic is a
different question.

I am just saying, that it's sad, that since so many years starting with
StarOffice that suite has never got a broad distribution among people.

Just compare what WPS guys have achieved within much smaller time frame.

Frankly MSO is not perfect (actually far from it), but the fact is, that nobody
came even closer to them with all the efforts made. If that would be a
commercial organization they would drop the project long ago.

The only solution I see is starting from scratch. Make it clean, compact,
plugin based set of programs. Not that super monster we have now. Period.

Sorry, I was wrong to say that it works in 5.2.5.1. I did not know that there
was a difference between the separate navigator (F5) and the navigator in the
sidebar. The separate one is updated, the sidebar not, also not in 5.2.5.1.

--- Comment #2 from Bob English  ---
I just started working in another document, in this case within a table with 4
columns, If i try to select the first or second column, both are selected
regardless, but I can select the third and fourth separately.

In the case I initially described with a 6 column table, it doesn't matter
which of the first 5 columns I try to select, it always selects them all, and
the 6th can be selected separately.

Both of these documents have one table with only two columns, and those work as
it should.

Somehow the columns are being grouped, based on what, I have no idea. It
doesn't look like it has anything to do with the "Number format" or how the
text is formatted, as both tables are different in that respect.

I can select whole tables (corner arrow) and individual rows without problems,
only columns seem to be effected.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer

  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 132359

document to test the description

Open attached document. Set cursor in a heading. Call "Bullets and Numbering"
dialog from context menu or Format menu. Goto tab "Outline", select the bottom
right set, that which has bullets, click OK.

Notice that the headings show this bullets. Goto Tools > Outline numbering.
Notice that the bullets are shown in the preview.

Save the document. Close it. Reopen it. The headings have no numbering at all.

It is a bad user experience, that the user gets no hint, that bullets on
outline numbering are not possible, and he will notice the problem first, when
he reopens the document and sees, that the bullets are lost.

The bullets are lost, because a outline list cannot have bullets in file
format.

The UI should not allow a setting, which is not possible to be saved.

The numbering in the document is a mix of outline numbering and list numbering.
Such mishmash should not happen if you create an *odt-document from scratch.
Your document is a docx document and therefore goes through some import filter.

If you will add a new heading to continue the numbering of the existing
headings of the same level, go to an existing one and look at the status bar,
to get the name of the used numbering style. When you then style your new
heading, you need not only apply the correct paragraph style - which gives you
the outline level - but have to apply the correct list style too. When the
cursor is in that heading, double-click the list style in the "List style"
category of the "Style and Formatting" part of the side bar. Right-click and
"continue numbering" is the wrong method.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106982] New: Can't select single column in writer table anymore.

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106982

Bug ID: 106982
   Summary: Can't select single column in writer table anymore.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bobofengl...@zoho.com

Description:
When I hover above a column (down arrow appears) and click the left mouse
button, the column below the arrow is normally selected (Highlighted), so I can
make changes to text formatting...

Now when I do the same it selects the desired column as well as the adjacent
ones, all but the last one in the table, which I can select by itself.

For reference: I did not change a thing to the document nor program settings,
and it worked fine before. I can not find anything in the table or paragraph
settings that could indicate the columns being linked to each other somehow.

I have also noticed that after a few tries of opening and closing any settings
(with or without making changes), and I try again, the highlighted columns
loose the highlight when the settings dialog opens, and only the top left
fields text (not the field itself) is highlighted, and any changes I make are
applied to that text only, not to my original selection of columns. Once this
has occurred, the results always repeat until I close the document, and re-open
it.

LibreOffice Version: 5.2.2.2 Build ID: 1:5.2.2-0ubuntu2 CPU Threads: 4; OS
Version: Linux 4.8; UI Render: default; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc:
group

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open document with a table (more than 2 columns; 6 in my case)
2. Hover mouse over any but the last column to get the down arrow cursor, and
click with left mouse button (Right handed Mouse). Do not drag the mouse.
3.

Actual Results:
All but the last columns are selected.

Expected Results:
Only the one column should be selected.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No, and it's not a good solution either, or else I will
spend more time configuring the software than using it, given the frequency of
problems. You need to find a way to prevent this frequent user profile
corruption in the first place, or at least narrow resetting to single files,
not the whole profile.

Additional Info:
I am not a programmer, so if you want me to help by getting readouts from
terminal, or fetching files to attach, then you will have to give me step by
step instructions like what to type in terminal, and where to find files...

Cut the list from after the paragraph sign of the previous paragraph to the end
of the list. Insert it as "unformatted text". That will turn the numbering
fields into simple characters.

I have looked deeper in the specification, and now think, LibreOffice can do
some binding of paragraph style and list level via attribute style:list-level.
Read my comment in bug 62032.

--- Comment #4 from V Stuart Foote  ---
Sorry, but "Spread Sheets" are comprised of Rows and Columns of "Cells" -- a
Cell is atomic and can not be reduced, but can be removed or added shifting
adjacent cells in row or column on a sheet.

For the menu label "Sheet" is the most concise notation. Reality is the menu
items your analysis highlights as cell and sheet are really ALL dealing with
data presented on a sheet (although you categorization is wrong).

Again changing the label adds no contextual or functional benefit--but impedes
the localization effort by forcing convoluted translations to fit the menu
width.

If, after 3 you save the document again and reopen it, it's fine.

DOCX import: fix handling of embedded DOCX files

The problem was that SwXTextEmbeddedObject::getEmbeddedObject()
returned
an empty reference for those embedded objects, so the HTML filter
couldn't extract their content when it wanted to do so.

It turns out the reason for this was that the DOCX importer only
handled
the replacement image + raw native data for the object. Fix this by
creating the embedded object with the correct CLSID and import the
raw data into the empty embedded document model.

This is similar to what is done for XLSX-in-PPTX in
oox::drawingml::ShapeExport::WriteOLE2Shape(), just for the import
part.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62032] Outline numbering doesn' t work when defined in Paragraph Styles

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62032

Regina Henschel  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de

--- Comment #8 from Regina Henschel  ---
The outline level is set correctly, but the paragraph does not get a
list-level, which corresponds to the outline level.

The list level is not given by an attribute in the file format, but by nesting
lists, which is a structure.

I have looked around in the ODF 1.2 specification, whether it is possible to
specify an associated list level. If I understand the spec correctly, it would
be possible to use the attribute "style:list-level" in the paragraph style.
That is section 19.495 in
http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part1.html. It
seems, that currently LibreOffice does not evaluate that attribute at all. At
least adding it manually to the file has no effect and resaving the document
removes this attribute.

With that attribute it would be possible to build a set of paragraph styles
similar to "Heading 1", "Heading 2", ..., so that when assigning the paragraph
style, LibreOffice knows, that it has to put the paragraph to the specified
list level, which means to generate the nested lists accordingly.

If I'm correct with my interpretation, then implementing the attribute could
solve the problem. In this sense this bug report would be an enhancement
request.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106981] New: The Repeat feature when you select an Inserted Video for it to play in a Loop during a slideshow no longer works after Version 5.2.1.2 of LibreOffice.

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 106981
   Summary: The Repeat feature when you select an Inserted Video
for it to play in a Loop during a slideshow no longer
works after Version 5.2.1.2 of LibreOffice.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: branman2...@hotmail.com

The Repeat feature when you select an Inserted Video for it to play in a Loop
during a slideshow no longer works after Version 5.2.1.2 of LibreOffice. The
video will play for the allotted video time and then stop even if the repeat
function has been selected on in the newer version of Libreoffice/impress.
Version 5.2.1.2 would allow the Video, such as motion backgrounds, to loop
perfectly.

THank You for any help/fixes :)

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com

I am trying to work on a .doc file that was prepared by someone else on MS
Word.
When I open the document with LibO, it looks fine. The document is formatted on
an A4 page, with 20 mm left and right margin. The top ruler correctly shows
numbers from 20 to 0 mm (the left margin), then the left margin and indent
markers, then numbers from 0 to 170 mm (the paragraph space), then the right
margin marker, then numbers from 170 to 190 mm, which looks fine, because the
page is actually 210 mm wide, which is 20+190 mm.

Unfortunately, weird thing start to happen as soon as I touch the
Tools->Options Libreoffice Writer->Compatibility dialog. Even if I do not
change anything, as soon as I press the OK button, the ruler goes crazy.
now the ruler shows figures from about -24 to 0 mm for the left margin, then
from 0 to 186mm for the left margin and from 186mm to 210 mm for the right
margin, as if the page was ~ 243 mm wide.

In practice, the page width gets assigned to the paragraph space + right
margin, rather than the left margin + paragraph space + right margin.

This makes it impossible to use the ruler to decide where tabs should go.

No way to tell how it became unchecked, but one of the QA steps we'd have asked
you to do would have been to reset your user profile which would have restored
the Tools -> Options -> Writer -> View check boxes to defaults.

In general not a bad idea to reset on occasion and build back UI from defaults.
For consistency, a user can bring in customization(s) with templates (or a
script against the user profile folders and the registrymodification.xcu
configuration).

It might be a helpful show/hide toggle to add to the Table menu, and even the
context menu.

But for now, you seem to be functional, closing...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106978] New: The tables in my invoices are invisible on my W7 machine , show in Vista

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106978

Bug ID: 106978
   Summary: The tables in my invoices are invisible on my W7
machine, show in Vista
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: s...@stmradio.com

I print my own invoices for my business, have been for years without problems.
Recently switched to a Windows 7 machine and went to print more invoices but
cannot, as all the tables and their contents are invisible. I DO NOT want to
edit the tables, especially not by accident. I just want to SEE them. One
entry, the invoice numbering, has to change for each printing. Not being able
to see the number is a major problem. The older computer is displaying the
invoice correctly. LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 on Vista, 5.2.6.2 on W7.
I will try to change my display settings in W7 to see if it helps, but since
that requires a logoff and I do not want to lose all this, I am sending it. If
it works I will come back to let you know. In any case, the display setting
should not have this effect. (It is set now at 125%, as default 100% is far too
small to use.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71098] PAGE-BREAK: sub-documents force a page-break when inserted in the master document

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71098

--- Comment #11 from Thomas Lendo  ---
sm8ps, my reasons asking for a RESOLVED WORKSFORME are 1) that new documents
have no page-break (at least on my installations). If it's not reproducible
with current versions, then it's not a bug anymore. And 2) if it's only
reproducible with your installation, than maybe a new user profile could help.
Did you test all steps to ensure that's no problem with your installation? And
3) if the bug is only reproducible with the old attachment of 2013 (and not
with new files), then for me it needs not necessarily to be a bug because maybe
the page-break is inserted hard-coded in the xml files and can't disappear also
with current LibO versions.

I'm working with master and sub documents for 10 years and I haven't seen that
bug in my documents (master documents including over a dozen sub documents with
about 200 pages in total). I can't confirm the bug, maybe another one can.

sm8ps, maybe it helps if you give us a step-by-step description how you create
the master and sub documents and how you do link these files in the master
document. Please do this with a fresh user profile and with new templates/files
(not old one because old files could be the reason for that behavior).

Can confirm this on 5.3.1.2.

Even checking the option to restart numbering on this paragraph, the numbering
will not restart when the style is applied to another paragraph.

The expected behavior is that when the option is checked the numbering should
restart when the style is applied again to other paragraph in the document.

--- Comment #3 from V Stuart Foote  ---
With current 5.3 release the built-in help and the on-line help provide the
related articles [1-3]:

Find & Replace
Searching for Attributes
Attributes

As the actual attributes are composites (not individual settings) their
description is conceptual in Technical-English. Their terseness is a
requirement of restraining the panel size for labeling check-box widget
elements (and tool-tips) in the GUI. The linkage from the dialog is correct.

The help articles here might be cleaned up a bit, but they provide the
appropriate framework for the l10n translation effort.

In that context, edits/revisions are always welcome, but this is not a bug.

And of course, for emerging features, the Documentation team is always in need
of good technical writers to incorporate content into the "published" User
Guides.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106975] New: Download Link is not Localised

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106975

Bug ID: 106975
   Summary: Download Link is not Localised
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: harald.koes...@mail.de

In the “Check for Updates …” dialogue the download link is not localised. It
always leads to the English website. Expected: Link to the localised
LibreOffice download page according the language of the operating system, if
the respective LibreOffice page is available.

Bug is only reproducible with a non-English OS:
[1] Use a LibreOffice version which is not current. Start this version.
[2] Check for updates in the help menu. The Check for Updates dialogue is
opened and a newer version is offered.
[3] Click Download button. An English Download website is displayed in your
browser. Expected: Localised website should be displayed.

tdf#41542 MSWordExport: accommodate image's borderless padding
Honor the padding value even if the border is not visible.
Previously the padding information was just thrown out, and
the image scaled to fill the entire image size.

The unit test for tdf#77454 needed to be tweaked because surprisingly
it has border padding of 1 - which this patch turns into a negative crop.

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 106973
   Summary: Dragging FileList out of LO fails
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: sdk

Hello

I try to implement drag and drop via Java UNO from an LO control
(XTreeControl).
Dropping of Text/Files onto the control works fine.
However, dragging a "FileList" type
(application/x-openoffice-filelist;windows_formatname="FileList") from LO to
any
application accepting files (FileList) fails with a crash of the receiving
application e.g. Explorer/Notepad.

Dragging text from LO however works (sort of).

Due to little documentation I am not sure if I do this correctly.

Tried a number of different options returning raw byte[], many combinations of
Any etc.

Debugging the receiving application crashes here (win32 api):

DragQueryFile(hDropInfo, 0, szFileName, _MAX_PATH);

The call succeeds however, szFileName contains garbage.

I use the following test Java code to implement the drag source:

private static final String MIME_FILE_LIST =
"application/x-openoffice-filelist;windows_formatname=\"FileList\"";

@Override
public void dragGestureRecognized(DragGestureEvent evt)
{

evt.DragSource.startDrag(evt, DNDConstants.ACTION_COPY,
0, 0, new XTransferable()
{
@Override
public Object getTransferData(DataFlavor
dataFlavor) throws UnsupportedFlavorException, IOException
{
String s =  "C:\\Users\\xxx\\file.log";
if(dataFlavor.MimeType.equals(MIME_FILE_LIST))
{
return new Any(byte[].class, s.getBytes());
}
return null;

}

@Override
public DataFlavor[] getTransferDataFlavors()
{
return new DataFlavor[]{
new DataFlavor(MIME_FILE_LIST, "FileList",
new Type(byte[].class)),
};
}

@Override
public boolean isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor
dataFlavor)
{
return true;
}

}

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81658] Include Tables among Cross-references (Field)

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81658

--- Comment #6 from Ulrich Windl  ---
Looking at the image in attachment 132351, I noticed that "Create from" "Object
Names" is unchecked: If I check that, I get an index for images and tables, but
I cannot select what type of information I want (like for "Create from"
"Captions"). That must be a bug: Why is the option "Captions", if it allows
sub-options "References", "Category and Number", and "Caption Text"?
To me the first option "Create from" seems useless, because you could select it
all from the sub-options. Did I miss something?

I strongly object: A table is a table even without a caption. You can even
select between "References", "Category and Number" and "Caption Text". So only
for the last one a caption should be (must?) present.

In the sample document both indexes (tables of images and tables) are empty,
even though "Category and number" was selected. However Navigator shows both:
"Table1" and "Image1".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104244] EDITING: current cell not indicated in Calc (Ubuntu)

2017-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104244

--- Comment #18 from Nico R.  ---
Can confirm on Kubuntu 16.10 64-bit with LO 5.3.2.2 from the official Ubuntu
repositories with libreoffice-kde installed and active. Platform is a Dell
Latitude E6410 with Intel i915 graphics/chipset. xserver-xorg-video-intel is
installed, and I already tried purging and reinstalling it with no effect.

On enabling OpenGL, LO crashes at the splash screen. On disabling, it works
fine, but the active cell is not marked in any way. Only when I select two or
more cells, they become highlighted in a blue color and with a blue border
around them.
