Here is a macro implementation that I have not tried,

By design. Toggled on the Tabbed view from the configuration tab.

When opened in LO 5.4 alpha the row is hidden, but in the autofilter list the

Saving the document in ODS, filtering out the 3rd row and reopening shows
correctly the value as filtered out.

That is the point, you can not. Hence my assessment this is not a bad thing and
a WONTFIX of rolling it back, but we'll let the devs decide that ;-)

DirectWrite has more completely replaced comparable GDI calls, and now at
5.3.2.2 the Default and CPU rendering matches the rendering as for OpenGL. That
is intended and by design, but there is agreement that the DirectWrite calls
need attention.

It remains to resolve is if the DirectWrite calls can be made more functional
for earlier Windows--notably XP, or if support for XP will be dropped. And to
determine if a buffering scheme similar to OpenGL must be implemented for the
Default rendering to remove the flicker of bug 107024

Any news on this issue?
In the academic field, this is crucially needed.
Indeed, if you write a scientific article with many formulas for one journal,
and then want to submit it to another journal with a different style (e.g.
different fonts), you have to edit the formulas one by one.

Really?

How to get image/behavior as LO 5.3.1.2 with
[v] Use hardware acceleration
[v] Use anti-aliasing

You don't see ugly fonts with FullHD on 13", but try to see LO 5.3.2.2 picture
on low DPI LCD -- it is terrible ugly.

With everything in Column, deactivating totals fixes the bug, but that doesn't
work when everything is in Rows.

Thank you. So that set of clips confirms--there is no degradation of the OpenGL
rendering, and that at 5.3.2.2 the DriectWrite/Direct2D font shaping is now
more fully used with the Default HW and CPU only rendering. Fonts just look
different between the two engines.

The flickering of bug 107024 is an unintended consequence, but IMHO this is not
a bug as it is by design.

Seems to do so with that particular order of Row fields.
Changing their order in the pivot table gives good display.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mcav...@yahoo.com

Description:
When selecting a block of text to spellcheck, the direction of selection makes
the difference between correct spelling error detection and false positives.

Steps to Reproduce:
Create a new document. Enter the following two lines of text.
Do not literally type the text in brackets. Instead, press those keys.

  This is a test.[press Enter]
This is az test.[press shift up arrow]

All text should now be highlighted. Click spellcheck tool button. Spellcheck
finds no errors.

Deselect all text. Select all text with the mouse by clicking at the end of
the text (lower right) and dragging to the left and up. Select the Tools menu
and click "Spelling and Grammar" (optionally, press F7). Spell check finds no
errors.

Deselect all text. Select all text from upper left to lower right using either
keyboard or mouse. Use any method to do a spellcheck. Now the spelling error
is detected.

Actual Results:
Dialog box pops up that says "Spellcheck is complete."

Expected Results:
Expected to be shown "az" as a misspelled word.

Reproducible: Always
