[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103158] Pressing ctrl+shift switches direction on key down
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103158 --- Comment #15 from Nadav Har'El--- The fact that this bug has been open for half a year although it is already understood what causes it leads me to conclude that the people involved underestimate its severity or believe it bothers only few people. As an RTL user, let me tell you that this is a very serious issue, because it causes paragraphs' directions to spontaneously flip on the mere press of the "control" key, as explained previously in comments here, and in the duplicate I created, bug 107284. The effect is very subtle - you edit a long document, and suddenly the direction of one of the paragraph "flips". For a long paragraph, often the only change visible is the alignment of the paragraph's last line, which you can sometimes miss and only notice later. Moreover, it's not clear *why* this happened. I've seen this problem dozens of times over the last few months, and even added a shortcut for "correcting" it (making a paragraph RTL again), before I figured out what (the "control" key) can actually trigger this problem. I'm guessing that 99% of the RTL users (Hebrew and Arabic writers) have come across this problem in recent months, without being able to explain it, and certainly not figuring out that *this* issue is about the same problem. So it's not surprising we don't see a hundreds voters or duplicates on this issue. But it's still extremely annoying. It's *not* a feature - it's a bug. Nobody wants a "feature" which flips a paragraph direction on the press of a key. Flipping a paragraph's direction is very rarely a useful operation - and doing it with just the "control" key (just because previously you also pressed, somehow, shift, in an unrelated operation) is absurd. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62268] FILEOPEN: Optimum row height should be recalculated with " style:use-optimal-row-height='true'"
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62268 --- Comment #26 from Tester--- (( This next here is somehow of topic and somehow related anyway. So i write it here, but it should not hinder the main discussion here! I checked now even the OptimalColumnWidth functionality, in case of a bug relation with OptimalRowHeight. Calc seams to entirely not support OptimalColumnWidth [style:use-optimal-column-width="true"] - It don't stick with the column after manual use, it is not stored in column propertys. - It is not stored in the file. - There seams to be no code for OptimalColumnWidth (No functions like UpdateAllColumnWidths, AdjustColumnWidth, ...?). - This exists, but it seams it is never used(?): CMAP( "OptimalWidth", XML_NAMESPACE_STYLE, XML_USE_OPTIMAL_COLUMN_WIDTH, XML_TYPE_BOOL, 0 ), Is this a TODO, or is this specification of the ODS format intentional not supported? It could be useful for columns which for example have only short values, or same length IDs, or 1 Charakter marks. The problem is the same, a outside generator can not know the optimal width of a column. Even if OptimalRowHeight is more common and important, OptimalColumnWidth should be supported too, i think. Should i write a feature-request/bug-report, or there will be no support for OptimalColumnWidth [style:use-optimal-column-width="true"] in the future? ! But, OptimalRowHeight by file load should be fixed first, before somebody look in to this OptimalColumnWidth issue! )) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62268 --- Comment #25 from Tester--- Yes, i check the code my self, when i have seen that your first post was 2013... You wait a LONG time for a fix, so lite things can be so nasty. I hope my speculation is right, and the mapping caused a wrong behavior, and a developer simply deactivated the defective update function. And that a skilled developer looks in to this soon. (The code is not documented in comments, this makes it additional difficult for a "outside" developer to understand the logics. A "inside" developer can fix it maybe in minutes, if this is the bug.) Such stubborn bugs are sometimes multiple bugs which makes a search hard, let as hope it is only this. (And never take out a red warning light, instead to fix the problem.) I don't know jet where to reactivate the row updater. This are some related functions: -> UpdateAllRowHeights -> AdjustRowHeight -> IsAdjustHeightEnabled (This can suppress the update. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62268 Bernhard Dippoldchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||fu...@arcor.de --- Comment #24 from Bernhard Dippold --- Thanks for looking in that one, Tester! As I'm no developer, this issue causes quite a number of computers to be stuck with LibO 3.4 (sic!) for years... If the bug just consist of a wrong mapping, a fix should be probably easy. As you stated: "Optimal height" is mapped to XML_MIN_ROW_HEIGHT (pobably the minimal height) "Optimal width" is mapped to XML_USE_OPTIMAL_ROW_HEIGHT (width and height mixed up?) In Comment 16 Matthew Francis found out, that Daniel Bankston did some startup improvement to Calc as a Google Summer of Code (GSOC) 2012 job, mentored by Kohei Yoshida and Markus Mohrhard (who is still active on the developer list). It seems that his hack omitted recalculation of row height even if the flag the flag "style:use-optimal-row-height" is set to "true". If it's just a wrong association between optimal and minimal height and width and height respectively, it should be corrected. I always thought that there might have been a performance issue to standard Calc files. So if some developer might dig into it (or ask Markus for mentorship?), it would help us very much! https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107353 --- Comment #3 from Dominik Kopp--- Hello Xisco, please rethink your decision. MSO 2010 renders the document wrongly because it was created with a newer MSO version. A have some arguments: - older MSO versions (like MSO 2010) create tables and align the text to the page margin. Newer MSO version (I guess MSO 2013+) aligns the table borders to the page margin. - docx import of older MSO versions works OK. - docx import of newer MSO versions works OK, since the *very* recent fix by https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106742 - docx import of newer MSO versions works not, if it's a floating table. The workaround to disable the sidebar decks before the desired deck is no good solution, especially for the last ones like Navigator - how working with styles in that case? Is there anything people can do (without learning to write programs by themselves - whifh is not problem of will but time and skill)? Raising priority? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107357] New: Calc is taking several seconds to switch between tabs

I have about 12 (tabs/pages/sheets) in my ods document. There are formula in about 800 rows and 15 columns on each page. There are no linkages between the sheets or other ods. The computer is running Windows 10 Pro on an i7-4700HQ with 16GB ram. I have the 64-bit LibreOffice 5.3.2.2 installed. Java Version is 8 Update 131 64-bit. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Build a spreadsheet ODS with several tabs 12 2. enter formula on each that fill about 800 rows 3. save, close and reopen. 4. click on a tab 5. try to enter data in a cell. Actual Results: * Upon clicking a tab at the bottom there is a 2-3 second wait for the page to appear. This behavior just appeared in this version of LibreOffice. * Upon initial opening the ods file you can type a single or two numbers into a cell and then the application stops responding for 10-20 seconds. This behavior has gotten worse with each version. Expected Results: This is not that large of a spreadsheet and the computer it is on is not slow with the same spreadsheet loaded into Excel 2012. This kind of performance will not get corporations to convert. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107356 Bug ID: 107356 Summary: Key pressed / Key released events from list boxes don't respond to ctrl-keys Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.5.1 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Base Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: bridgeportcontrac...@gmail.com In LibreOffice Calc (and in MS Access) you can press Ctrl-' (control tick) to quickly copy the field above into the current cell. This can be simulated as described here: https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21=83531=415865#p415865 , ...well, almost. ;-) All controls work properly with Ctrl-tick except list boxes. List boxes seem to swallow up keystrokes that have a control key modifier and never report a keystroke event, either up or down. Alt key modifiers work as expected in all controls. The reason this is important is to try and maintain uniformity with Calc and Access which both use Ctrl-tick for this feature. The author's Alt-Tick workaround, works, but makes Base non-standard. I think this should be relatively easily fixed. The hope is that this utility can someday be merged into Base and no longer be an add on. But first it has to work the way users expect. At the link above, you'll find my re-write of the code if you want to test this at the bottom, submitted today, which should allow you to easily patch in the Ctrl key modifier to test this yourself. I guess i just assumed what you had mentioned was correct (actually there isnt any 'as paragraph' anchor option, so i assume you meant 'as character') and didnt test it, but whatever anchor i set it on, i'm unable to comment. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107284 Nadav Har'Elchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED Ever confirmed|1 |0 --- Comment #5 from Nadav Har'El --- I just attached a document which can help you demonstrate the bug. This document has one short paragraph, which is in English, but marked an "RTL" paragraph and accordingly is aligned to the right. If you open this document, select the whole row by hitting Shift-LeftArrow multiple times, and then hit the "control" key, you'll see the paragraph suddenly jump to the left! With the "Format -> Paragraph" menu, you can see it mysteriously acquired the "left-to-right" text direction, which is what caused it to jump to the left. Of course, people don't expect that selecting text or hitting the "control" key changes a paragraph's direction -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
