Impress error

When you add shape in Impress, then add interaction , Go to document, then
select MSO files DOCX, XLSX, PPTX Impress crashed with fatal error could not
open storage.

Ran some of my more complex ODS against this and had no problem.

Must say that it is great how you have set it up that multiple versions of LO

Description:
Auto-save fails to lock out user UI actions before saving and aborts them
awkwardly, sometimes with severe delay and the appearance of a crash

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set auto-save to a very short duration to shorten reproduction testing time
2. Work normally on formatting


Actual Results:  
1. dialog boxes are partially redrawn
2. program appears to hang (it will eventually recover)
3. sometimes a command is wrongly applied - for example, you select a cell,
then go to the formatting toolbar, and click in the font field. Because of
another active bug, the act of clicking fails to select all, so a user who
spends a lot of time with the program will reflexively type Ctrl-A immediately
after click in the font field. But the autosave has garbled the UI and the
control-A gets applied to the whole document, then hangs, and all sorts of
other trouble ensues.

Expected Results:
1. Whatever command is already in progress when the auto-save kicks in should
be allowed to complete before the auto-save operation begins.

2. User commands should be ignored (with or without a warning dialog) during
the auto-save.

I tested and I was also unable to reproduce using only integers. CAn you try
with letters instead of numbers? I was able to reproduce this when putting a
single different random letter in each cell.

Even with the old standard palette, you could only choose colors from the
palette to use for chart colors, so what would be needed there is the ability
to pick any color from any palette and any color through the color picker
dialog, which Regina mentions in bug 105225 comment 1.

Test spreadsheet with font colors

Kevin, thanks for reporting your problem.

I only can partially confirm your issues and only with your file. In my own
tests none of your problems occur.

With your file it's not possible to change the font color if the already
existing text is formatted with a font color word by word (first double
clicking into the cell, then selecting a word and then applying a font color).
But all other actions are possible (background color, underline, indent,
etc.)with one or more cells.

Therefore I can't conform your bug report.

Kevin:
1. Could you test with a new user profile or with another installation of
LibreOffice?
2. Please test my own file if you can change the font color for both cells at
once.
3. How have you created your test file? Can you give a step by step
instruction?

I believe i'm the one who renamed it in Writer as the command inserts the
contents of another document or text file into the current document and the old
'File' label didnt clearly portray this. Ideally the dialog should be fixed so
that it clearly lists only the types of files that can be inserted, rather than
it listing every file, even ones that cant be inserted.

As hyperlinks in Writer are automatically converted to use the 'Internet Link'
character style, there is no way for 'Clear Direct Formatting' to work with it.
I think this can be closed as wonfix or wfm as i doubt the behaviour can be
unified between apps.

this screenshot shows the bug in action

notes: 

1. cell C2640 is selected
2. the Formatting toolbar shows Courier New
3. you can see that the font displayed in the selected cell is not Courier
(it's Prestige Elite) - so even before trying to apply formatting you can see
that something is wrong - somewhere in the cells internal header or whatever is
something that tells the toolbar to display an incorrect font.

try this one first

I think I may be missing a step.

Try this file instead (108185-b.ods) and add these steps at the beginning

1. select all the cells with contents
2. note that while there are superscript characters, the superscript button is
greyed out
3. click bold or italic or the font size (nothing happens)
4. the font is shown as Prestige Elite - try to change to Courier New (nothing
happens except that now the font is designated as Courier New in the formatting
box (while the font shown in the cell continues to be Prestige Elite).

NOTE!: The funny looking superscripts in the spreadsheet when you first open it
were NOT entered that way by the user. That was a bit of corruption that
occurred at some point in the history of the spreadsheet, probably going from
the release version of Calc I was using before 5.3.2.2.

file to reproduce bug of same name

I don't have a way to reproduce this from scratch but it occurs over and over
in a large spreadsheet containing many unwanted instanced of Prestige Elite
that I wish to change to Courier New and am unable to do so en masse.

I can't remember if these cells were originally set to Prestige Elite in Calc
or in Excel before I switched to Calc. I hope you realize that being able to
import Excel files is not a minor or trivial feature. The great majority of
your user base learned how to use spreadsheets with Excel and have many
Excel-created spreadsheets. All that said, it's equally possible that these
corrupted cells began life in the release version of Calc I was using prior to
switching to 5.3.2.2.

Description:
Font and format commands fail to take effect (.ODS file provided)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open the .ods file attached (name will be the same as the bug number)
2. note that the font is Prestige Elite
3. select one or more cells and try to change the font
4. try to change to bold or italic or superscript

Actual Results:  
None of the commands take effect

Expected Results:
User should be able to select a range of cells and apply formatting.


Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
WORKAROUND: You can double click each cell individually and then editing is
allowed. Needless to say, this is a crippling limitation when dealing with this
bug on a repeated basis.

For the sake of completeness, the watermark feature is available (in 5.5
alpha0) via menu Insert > Watermark or with the Customization dialog where you
can add the command to toolbars, context menus, etc. (without an icon).

FYI I created a follow-up bug 107996 "FORMATTING: Watermark feature in page
style dialog".

Yes many users would prefer to see their local currency symbol used on the
'Format as Currency' button, but i doubt that people are going to spend time
creating icons for each locale and in all icon themes.

The dollar sign is quite universal when it comes to money/currency[1] and is
visible in most keyboard layouts with Shift+4. Many currencies use the dollar
sign as or within their currency symbol[2] and the sign is used by 4 out of the
top 10 traded currencies[3].

different, etc. Let's understand currency as a symbol that we have to identify

Nope you can type in a hyperlink and press spacebar and it will automatically
convert it to a linkable hyperlink. For paste in Calc, you'd have to press F2
to go into edit mode, then paste the link and then press spacebar after it.

Description:
After a JPG compression in Writer, only a tiny small image gets pasted to Draw.
I reported similar behavior before (bug 107986), but that seemed to be cause of
missing dpi information. In this example I used perfectly fine images (one JPG
one PNG)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached file
2. Compress both images context menu -> Compress -> Settings: JPG 90% without
reducing the image resolution
3. Copy the top (or bottom) image
4. Open a new Draw Document
5. Paste the image

Actual Results:  
A very tiny images get pasted

Expected Results:
The image should have the same dimensions as in Writer

I have several files that have been 'worked over'(repeatedly modified) that all
display normally when using Libre writer. When attempting to assemble them by
using Insert-section they behave in strange ways. Sometimes a file will be in 4
columns when the original is in 2 columns. Sometimes the heading acquires the
heading of the file to which it is being attached (or vice versa) and I have
not been able to edit the heading to the correct one for the file.

Still the sidebar is a mess.

Telesto, thanks for your effort. But is this tracking bug necessary? (Also the
name isn't very expressive.) Only bug 96178 seems to fit into this jpeg bug.
The other bugs are already or should be listed in Writer Images meta bug and/or
Compression meta bug. For meta bugs with few sub-bugs we get squashed by the QA
team. You should think about reassigning sub-bugs to other tracking bugs if not
already assigned and closing this bug.

Please attach a PNG screenshot of the Writer document, so we can measure the
pixels.

I did it for a box with borders 2,3 pt wide and in GIMP I could verify the
width was correct (by moving around a selection).

You are right. And this will work right in the second attachment, created with
5.4.0.0beta1. Download an try to put
'123456'
into the field "Text_5_String".
An error appears. Won't save this input, Will only save '12345'.

But this won't work with the first attachment, created with 5.4.0.0alpha0.
Download and try to put
'12345678901234567890'
into the field "ShortName".
You could save this data, but the field is set to a length of 5 characters, as
it is set in the second attachment for "Text_5_String".
You could create new tables in this database with the same behavior: 5
characters, but 20 could be saved.

With new created databases it seems this bug won't appear - don't know why ...
