[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38915] Multiple soffice.bin soffice.exe

2017-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38915

I asked to test the hanging issue. Please use some application to *post* any
message to any window (of classes SALFRAME or SALCOMWND) of hung soffice.bin,
and see if that resolves it (it should wake up, process the message and close
itself successfully). If it is so, then it's fruitful to look for such loops
and resolve them one by one. If not, then the problem is in another place.

Without active user help (aside from simple tests if current nightly works)
it's *extremely* difficult to solve issues like this.

Btw: from comment 36, it looks like soend has some reliable reproducing steps?
If so, then please share them as detailed as possible.

I tried the latest 6.0 dev build from daily builds but the problem still
exists. Before closing hanging soffice.exe 's the new instance wont do
anything.

It doesn't explain behavior of my version (5.3.4.2, amd64, Linux Mint Debian
Edition 2, kernel 3.16, CPU threads: 4). Can it be OS-specific bug?

Just a quick note. It looks fix from master in comment 57 is only solution from
my problem in comment 60 from duplicate bug 108832. For me changing aero theme
to basic does not fix the problem, but fix from master does. Also my problem is
not exactly the same as others in this bug report have. It well may be that my
bug was wrongly marked as duplicate of this bug and there are actually multiple
similar in behaving problems related to menus/dialog non-appearance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88742] Using of the Term “Properties” in Sidebar is a Bit Unfortunate

--- Comment #6 from Yousuf Philips (jay) ---
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4)
> Properties -> Formatting

-1 from me because properties is a better fit in my view than formatting and

1. 'Formatting' is a verb, while sidebar labels are nouns (e.g. Gallery)
2. 'Formatting' make some content panels labels less understandable (e.g.
Style)
3. we use properties in the menu (e.g. Format > Image > Properties)
4. we use it in the context menu (e.g. Frame > right-click > Properties)
5. not all things in the deck can be classified as formatting (e.g.
locking/unlocking the position of a shape [bug 90295])

Harald suggest 'Format' and similar to 'Formatting' it isnt a better fit in my
view than 'Properties', but

1. we use it in the menu
2. iWork uses it[1], though it has content panels like 'Text', 'Image' which
make sense and our content panels of 'Style' and 'Character' makes less sense
when used

[1] https://www.laptopmag.com/images/uploads/4008/g/pages-mac-sidebar.jpg

> Styles and Formatting -> Styles

+1 as most sidebar deck labels are single words and i never understood why even
in the old days of it being a floating window it had 'and Formatting' in the
name.

retested on the same Win8.1 x64 machine as in comment 2.

LibO 4.4.0 --> 42 seconds

LibO 5.1.2 --> 10 seconds to load

LibO 5.3.4 --> 8 seconds to load

LibO 6.0.0 * --> 8 seconds to load (the day before bug 99071 fix)

LibO 6.0.0 * --> 21 seconds to load (the day after bug 99071 fix)

so the situation was even worse in 4.1.x but a considerable performance
improvement was achieved in the 5.x branch. see also history in Bug 79761

the performance was the same as 5.3.x in recent 6.0.x daily builds but just
after the bug 99071 got fixed , thing become worse again.

according to my tests the regression happened during recent 6.x development.
I don't know if the regression was effectively caused by that committ or is
just a coincidence... anyway something has happened.

I cannot test 5.4.x daily builds since the Windows tinderbox are not working.

The problem with the results is that these commits only contain renamings, like

Would you mind taking a look at it when you have some spare time ?

Hello,
I tested with
libo-master~2017-07-19_02.49.52_LibreOfficeDev_6.0.0.0.alpha0_Win_x86. As with
the LibreOffice_5.3.4_Win_x64 version, the menus are still invisible with
Windows Aero.
If I switch to Windows Basic or Windows Classic: menus become visible whether
it is with version 5.3.4.2 or 6.0.0.0!
Would the problem be specific to Aero themes?
Philippe

Thanks a lot for your reply.

By deleting the user profile directory, I cannot see the issue anymore.
Seems to be solved (even if I have no idea why the user profile was corrupted
nor Writer crashed when the profile is corrupted).

we are not sure that you are describing the same issue that "Bob S" reported in
april 2016.

so I suggest to create a new bug report regarding your "disappears on crop and
compress" issue... you can already set the status as NEW since Telesto was able
to reproduce it (please copy and paste his message in the new report).
u
then I'd set the status of the current report to NEEDINFO, until the original
reported gives feedback about the reproducibility or not of the initial issue
with an up-to-date LibO release.

the fix for Bug 99071 just reverts 62ea355b2679073b8ee326df5793231996136da9, so
I guess it was slower in 4.1 or previous. Could you please test how long it
takes with an old version?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109220] New: App. one second delay when using Page UP/ DOWN and switching between tabs

2017-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109220

Bug ID: 109220
Summary: App. one second delay when using Page UP/DOWN and
switching between tabs
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: brunoj...@gmail.com

Description:
When I move up or down through a Calc spreadsheet version 5.3.4.2, there is a
delay of app. one second, when I press Page UP or Page Down. The same delay
appears when I switch between tabs.

This problem didn't exist in the previous version (5.2.7.2) and after I
uninstalled version 5.3.4.2 and reinstalled 5.2.7.2 the problem has
disappeared. So it only appeared in the new version of Calc.

The problem does not occur in spreadsheets created in version 5.3.4.2 itself
but "only" in all the speadsheets created in earlier version of Calc.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press Page Up, Page Down or switch between tabs
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The buttons does what they are supposed to, but with a delay of app. one second
per click, which makes Calc useless.

Expected Results:
The buttons does what they are supposed to, but with a delay of app. one second
per click, which makes Calc useless.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109219] New: Mailmerge: cannot use CSV as Address List with MM Wizard in Windows

2017-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109219

Bug ID: 109219
Summary: Mailmerge: cannot use CSV as Address List with MM
Wizard in Windows
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gti...@gmail.com

Tools - Mail merge wizard:
1. Next (use current document, default)
2. Next (letter, default)
3. Select address list
3a. Add, select the CSV. For example attachment 134329, field separator is Tab,
text separator ".
If there are no previous address lists, after adding CSV, "OK" is available.
But when there are previous address lists (like ODS) and new CSV is selected,
"OK" is not available. It can be tricked by clicking some other list and back.
But looks like it never really connects. And that's the bug.
3b. Even when CSV is selected and OK pressed, "Next" and "Finish" are not
available. "Match Fields.." is unavailable to set at least one field. "This
doc shall contain address block" is checked and can't be unchecked. No other
option than to press "Cancel".

Expected: OK connects to working address list. Match fields is available so
Next is also available.

Tested in Windows, also with master 6.0+. Looks to me like inherited, seems
that other CSV bugs were tested just in Linux and Mac, so not discovered
earlier. Can be wrong. Works in Linux.

Note: With multiple address list, sometimes the cursor is busy, but Cancel is
still available and that's not hang. Probably related to this bug.

Workaround: Go directly to Tools-Address Data Source.., then External, select
Text, choose path to folder, *.csv (containing headers), Finish, 3. Table
selection select attached CSV, here Field Assignment works, up to 5. Finish.
And File-Print works. But MM toolbar button unavailable.
Here could be another enhancement, probably separate bug: there are too many
steps and should be reduced, choose path to folder is not right, finally MM
toolbar button.

the commit in comment #7 is a good idea but unfortunately incomplete;
there are other places than the one changed there that need to agree
as to whether flys in a selection are deleted or not.

this includes Undo as in this report and OOo issue 97570 (Insert File
instead of Paste) which was incidentally re-introduced by this commit,
as well as redlining.

the Undo currently has difficulties distinguishing between flys
that were already there vs. flys that were inserted by the Paste,
so if it deletes too many flys all the nodes-indexes stored
in Undo objects are off and can cause out-of-bounds indexing.

there is some mechanism in shellio.cxx to track inserted flys;
i forgot if that is used during Paste or not...

unfortunately i'm short on time to investigate how this should work,
so i'll just revert the commit for now, shouldn't crash any more at least.

fixed on master

Important to says I noticed CSV select problem on Windows only. I can select
CSV in Linux.
In MMW when there are no other address lists, and I add and select the new CSV,
I have "OK" available. But when there are previous address lists (like ODS) and
I add and select the new CSV, "OK" is available. It can be tricked by clicking
some other list and back. But looks like it simply doesn't connect.
With multiple address list, sometimes I get cursor busy, but Cancel is still
available and that's not hang.

I'll restrict this bug to Linux and report my Windows CSV findings as a new
bug. Mac is a sort of Linux, right? What' matters is that this one was not
confirmed in Windows. And that's why you already have Evolution Local. When
reporting bug, nothing is obvious.

I couldn't reproduce this bug in Linux with master. I may have not understood
how. Evolution Local cannot be selected.
Possible cause of problems is JRE. I guess it's updated, but please check.

"Immediately" meaning as soon as I attempt to open a new document or load an
existing document.

The irony of the situation is that I can launch the Base wizard (New Database

crashes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109218] New: frames misplaced when document with multiple frames saved as .doc or .docx

2017-07-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 109218
Summary: frames misplaced when document with multiple frames
saved as .doc or .docx
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mike.h...@onepoyle.net

Created attachment 134738
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=134738&action=edit
multi-frame document

Document with multiple frames is scrambled when saved as .doc or .docx, works
fine if kept as .odt - tested with 5.4.0.2

To reproduce:
Open attachment
Save as .doc or .docx
Close
Reopen

Observed behaviour:
The frames are significantly displaced
Text in one of the frames loses a newline

Expected behaviour:
The document reopens with the frames in their original positions and formatting
unchanged

Bugs 55946, 61494 and 67318 seem to be related, but not quite the same.

This bug makes interworking with colleagues with MS Word extremely
problematical.

Suspect that the bug is the same in other OS's, but not tested.

Repro with:

CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.19; UI render: default;

So I can confirm this. However, it looks like a separate bug to me. The initial

See also point 6 of the following post:

https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40493

where it explicitly mentions that database sources from standalone forms are
hardcoded non-relative links.

So, the question is whether or not this could be considered as a RFE, or
alternatively, as behaviour corresponding to intended design.

>From the comment in brackets of the post above, having hardcoded absolute paths
was probably a poor design choice, so let's set this to RFE.

Hi Timur,
I mentioned it to moggi in IRC:
x1sc0: no idea, might be that we can not allocate any memory in the
signal handler so crash again which causes an abort

Using bibisect-releases I can reproduce it in libreoffice-5.1.0.1
 but not in libreoffice-5.0.6.3. Odd!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88126] FILEOPEN Writer hangs on opening a docx that MSO says corrupt but Open XML Productivity Tools finds no validation errors

Summary|FILEOPEN Writer hangs on|FILEOPEN Writer hangs on

When someone submits a bug, always need to be asked how document was created.
Hpw was original created (MSO or LO) and how attached docx was created.
If this DOCX was saved or changed by LO then it's another FILESAVE bug, that
can be fixed only if reproducible with steps.
Othwerwise, this FILEOPEN bug is useless and can be closed as INVALID.
This DOCX cannot be open with MSO, says the file is corrupt.
What's not clear is how Open XML Productivity Tools finds no validation errors.
So I set back to Needinfo.
