with dual R7/R5 iGPU/dGPU.  Is the ref below still the system configuration
(from msinfo32.exe run)?

Also, have you been able to toggle LibreOffice runs to "low power" to run on
the integrated R7 GPU, as we as in "high performance" to run on the dedicated
R5 GPU?

Ok, was able to install

after all, my computer just needed a reboot.

Still the same bug, and empty log file when I try to run it in cygwin with the

Watermark: not visible if page background was set
Watermark was drawn under the page background.
It has to be placed on the upper layer to be visible.

I just now tried to run the latest installer
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86_64@42/current/libo-master64~2017-09-09_02.18.42_LibreOfficeDev_6.0.0.0.alpha0_Win_x64.msi

but I was not able to run that. The installer just hangs after a few seconds.

Description:
No text is displayed in the UI, only horizontal lines where the text is
supposed to be. This applies to all text, menu items and text that you type
yourself in word, and text in dialog boxes etc.

This is a continuation of bug #107166 for issues that was not resolved with
that bug.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Libereoffice
2. Start libreoffice


Actual Results:  
You see "underscore" lines instead of text. No readable text on the screen.

Expected Results:
Be able to see normal text in the application.

Hi Jean-Baptiste

I tried your suggestion but in both cases the office still freezes. I first
re-started my machine, then opened a terminal. A screenshot of it is attached.
The first two calls to soffice resulted in the office freezing. I typed the
export commands by hand rather than pasting them. Then I tried my workaround as
described above, i.e. copying something random to the clipboard. The second two
calls are after doing that and in both cases no freezing occurred.

Indeed, after having left Calc (window is closed), process soffice is still
alive for a moment, using 100% of one core.
For me it is not a bug because LO needs some time to close properly after
having created a lot of data.

Buovjaga, I think NO.
I am running now 5.3.4.2 but nothing has changed in respect to my comment#18
and cannot well understand the question as posted in bug 111983: it seems a bit
confusing (full cock and drunk wife?).

Recapitulating:

1) as already said, SAVE is no longer inhibited and clicking on it, the file is
rewritten regularly updated. This means that, exiting clicking on File-Save (or
CTRL+S) all goes as expected but it is not a good method as it forces LO to
phYsically rewrite anyway the file even if no change has taken place.

2) I think you can easily test yourself, try this please using the two files
ods and odt already attached on 2017-01-13:
- open the ods, change the cell A5 to , exit saving
- open now the odt, reply YES to update links (you will see that data regularly
updated), now click on the "X" button to exit as usual: the file is closed
without any save request and is not updated as it should (MS office does it!).
You can verify reopening the odt and replying NO to update links: you still see
the old data.

Then, retry opening again the odt, reply YES to update links, update now also
any text data (a word in the first line, for example), then click on the "X"
button to exit as usual: LO now asks if you want to save or not as expected.

WARNING! Remember that the objects links embedded in the document are dependent
on the drive and folder where the source files were when linked (in the sample
the odt may reside everywhere but the ods has to reside on the D: root, as the
odt links point there; if needed you can open the odt and change the links
drive-id from Edit-Links).
And here the last further question:

3) established that the objects links embedded in the document are
driver/folder dependent, if the spreadsheet file source was renamed / moved /
deleted (however is not found from Writer), opening the odt file, also replying
YES when requested if you want to update the linked data, the file gets opened
without any warning message about the not found objects (but consequently not
updated) without we have awareness of that.
Then, I think that a warning about would be more correct (anyway WinWord too
had this problem): were this SW improvement not possible, what you think of a
warning notice, at least, in the help?

Today I can't reproduce the freeze anymore with GTK3 backend whatever version I
use (5.4.1 from Ubuntu PPA or 5.4.2.0.0+ and master both built at home). That
strange, I do not see what changed since yesterday. I recompiled 5.4.2.0.0+ and
master but not 5.4.1. 

I wonder if trying GTK2 backend changed something in my user profile that made
LO working again with GTK3 backend.

@Howard: Please could you try with GTK2 backend then with GTK3 again?
To switch between GTK2 and GTK3 backends launch LO in a terminal using
environment variables:
for GTK2 : export SAL_USE_VCPLUGIN="gtk"
for GTK3 : export SAL_USE_VCPLUGIN="gtk3"

Installed Windows debugger, but got no analysis because Libreoffice didn't
actually crash, but rather produced the error message Bad Alloc. At this point
Libreoffice is still running and asking the debugger to analyze produces
nothing. If at this point you hit OK, Libreoffice exits normally and the
debugger has nothing to do. I suppose an actual crash might be debuggable but
the message produced by Libreoffice (Writer) should be able to provide
information about what was going on. The implication of the message is that
Writer was asking the system for memory and not getting it. That suggests that
Writer was asking for a LOT more memory than is available. Without the source
code before me, I can do no better than guess what is going on.

Can you suggest a procedure for determining exactly what the system call that
produces the Bad Alloc error?

I really do not understand how you close this as Worksforme.
This is a feature that works on Microsoft Office.

The necessity for this arises by things like sorting cells, where the image
stays in place, although anchored at cell.

Yes, I remember now. I was actually setting next to Behdad when he was hacking
this code for that release and I remember wondering if these changes are going
to affect the brittle way we (I) position vertical glyphs. Unfortunately all
the details escape me know and I need to dig both the HarfBuzz changes and the
related LibreOffice code to have anything meaningful :( Actually I think that
is why I didn’t update our bundled HarfBuzz all that time.

We try to improve the response time and want to lower the number of tickets
where input from UX is requested. Ideally there should be no ticket in state
UNCONFIRMED for more than a week. So I could either resolve it immediately as
NAB or abuse NEEDINFO as a reminder for myself in case no further input is
done. Sorry if you understand this as a "trick".

If you scan without LibreOffice are you able to change the default config and
reuse this default when you scan from LibreOffice?

Set status to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested
informations are provided.

Part of the old dialog, which is missing in the new dialog

In the old customize dialog it was possible to add the call to a macro to a
toolbar and assign an icon to it. See attached screenshot for which part I
mean.

I find no way to add the call of a macro to a toolbar in the new customize
dialog.

It froze my whole system for a few minutes. I guess this means it is not
related to bug 109174 because that one is about Windows.

I guess the problem is in the virtual machine not in LibreOffice.
Do you have some some configuration flag vmware that may have action on the
file system? If the problem is in the file system, it is not in LibreOffice, so
we could close this bug report as NotOurBug.

Pinging UX team: I tried to find a feature request for enabling text styles in
Textboxes, but nothing came up. Have you ever discussed it? I did find reports
urging to disable style controls context-sensitively.

I found I had carelessly accepted bug 96706 as NEW in 2015.

I hope this last patch may help.
At least, I compared the number of calls of PaletteManager constructor and
destructor and it's the same value with the patch (there was more calls to
constructor than calls to destructor before the patch).

I'm eager to hear some news about this bugtracker and if it helps here, it may
help for the 2 other bugtrackers put in see also.

Just a con, even if it helps, it's more a bandaid than a real fix. Indeed, the
real root cause isn't clear.

I can't confirm any buggy behavior here with LO 5.4.1.2, OpenSUSE 64bit rpm
Linux and icon-theme Breeze, as shown in the attached image.

Please add the system you are using. Try to change the icon-theme in Options >
LibreOffice ... Breeze has very thin lines so you couldn't see most of the icon
in navigationbar, if the icon is disabled.

Did some more testing.  Version 5.1.0.0.alpha1 functions correctly.  Version
5.1.0.0.beta1-buildfix1 fails to load the sample document with the text

Did you test rules with all the other LibreOffice applications?

I think your solution is best, if it works for you and then it's a question of
someone adding the functionality to apply those settings to TP4TABLE.DAT upon
install.

Please, could you test again with current supported LO versions?

I do not reproduce the problems you described with LO 5.4.1 from PPA Ubuntu
under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64.

Confirmed. It does not seem to depend on how the bullet looks like (tested by
enabling/renabling bullets).

In version 3.6 both of the bullets look small, so at least some progress is
made..

When those setting are corrected, all works.

I am unable to reproduce in original situation (I reinstalled system changing
it 64 bit Lubuntu 16.04 and I have no access to 32 bit Lubuntu 14.04 system).

I failed to reproduce crash on my current system, though very poor performance
and artifacts remain.
