Fortunately I had also MS Office available, just received Excel sheet, where
conditional formatting was used heavily and without Excel's "Filter by color"
feature finding those relevant cells would have been a real pain. So pls. add
this neat feature also to LO Calc asap.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112363] New: Text is missing from all menus and toolbars

2017-09-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112363

Bug ID: 112363
Summary: Text is missing from all menus and toolbars
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rickhamp...@comcast.net

Description:
Problem first happened with v 5.3.4.2, but also with all subsequent versions
including 5.3.6.1 and 5.4.1.2. Downgrading to 5.2.7.2, everything works fine.
I was running 5.2.7.2 and tried upgrading to the latest 5.3 and 5.4 versions
tonight, but it didn't work. I tried repairing the files, uninstalling and
reinstalling, but nothing works.

I wanted to downgrade back to 5.2.7.2, but discovered that in the various
multiple installations/deinstallations I'd accidentally deleted the
installation files somehow, so now I'm running 5.2.6.2, which works fine. If
anyone knows where I can get the 5.2.7.2 installation files, please let me
know. I'd like to reinstall it until I find a later version that works.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Installed any 5.3 or 5.4 version.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
I simply downloaded and installed the versions manually with the wizard.

Expected Results:
Text is missing in all toolbars and menus.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No.

Ignore the Excel 2003 part - it appears that there it was only a cached value;
recalculating there gives error (#NAME). 2007 and 2016 work as I described
though (just made both recalculate).

Please find attached the .xls and .xlsx files that I created with LOO in

Open up the MS files in LOO and you can see the problem.

In my opinion, software should be foreseeable and function always the same. In
that light, it is not in my opinion tolerable that sometimes cursor goes up,
and sometimes not. I illustrate it in the attachment I have included. Try to do
the same rutine and put your cursor to the place I have marked in the
attachment.

You will see, that this time the cursor moves up when up arrow is pressed, as
last step. How is it expleinable that some times cursor moves and other times
does not? Should you have good explanation to this design philosophy, I would
be glad to hear it. Otherwise it still remains as a flaw in my mind.

I would also like to point out, that with cursor in this place, the whole line
under, moves up, when del is pressed. At the first place only the formatting
mark is removed, and the line above is not affected, or moved up. Instead, the
cursor jumps one line down! I can not see, how this is not a bug... Could you
explain it to me, please? Or is it some unseable marking issue?

Also, the dictation program Dragon Dictate will not work with LibreOffice. This
makes the software essentially useless for a writer who needs to paste
formatted .rtf text or who dictates.

Pasting .rtf text is still broken in 5.3.6 and 5.4.1.

I think I might have found what poEdit didn't like about
extensions/messages.pot to automatically delete duplicated string entries.

It is probably this entry in the pot file:

#. AXGeC
#: strings.hrc:320
msgctxt "RID_UPDATE_BUBBLE_DOWNLOADING"
msgid ""
msgstr ""

The English string is empty, as you can see ...

Current 5.4 branch LibreOffice builds with new (bug 89727) pdfium based filter
insert the PDF with near perfect fidelity. But for now no support to "break"
the image (that is bug 106581) to be able to edit resulting Draw objects.

Alternatively, the legacy pdfio based import filter directly converts PDF
elements to corresponding Draw objects. As noted its fidelity is low but that
has always been deemed appropriate as Draw is _not_ a PDF editor.

The current state will likely not be improved much. And the pdfium based image
insert filter has limits and needs Skia additional development.

Aside from LibreOffice's insert as image there are better programs external to
LibreOffice for conversion of the PDF to other grpahic formats (vector and
bitmap), and other editing programs more appropriate to use with PDF.

Also, if the source documents are ODF, preparing Hybrid PDF can be convenient
way to handle need for PDF changes. Please explore the File -> Export to PDF
dialog.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112359] New: Layout: A table in frame with page wrap overlaps normal text/ table in a specific document

2017-09-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112359

Bug ID: 112359
Summary: Layout: A table in frame with page wrap overlaps
normal text/table in a specific document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com

Created attachment 136209
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=136209&action=edit
Table overlaps table

In the attachment, the bottom half of the first page contains a table in a
floating frame. The frame's wrap mode is "Page" (or, as seen in the Properties
dialog, "Parallel"). This is described in help
(https://help.libreoffice.org/index.php?title=Writer/Wrap) as "Wraps text on
all four sides of the border frame of the object". But the text and table that
go below the table's anchor point overlap the frame, so the layout is broken.

The problem is not format-specific. First encountered in a DOC file, then
sanitized and saved into ODT.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112358] New: EDITING: Undo of style formatting doesn' t show affected cells

2017-09-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112358

Bug ID: 112358
Summary: EDITING: Undo of style formatting doesn't show
affected cells
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: thomas.le...@gmail.com

When using the Undo feature I expect that the canvas view of Calc will jump to
the cell where something will be took back. With that I can see what is being
undone and can stop taking changes back.

If styles formatting (not direct formatting) are affected, then the canvas view
doesn't bring the user back to that cell.

Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha0+
Build-ID: bc9714fefb2dd2ad55a92aaacb6b246f354ed2c0
CPU-Threads: 4; Betriebssystem:Linux 4.10; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2;
TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@70-TDF, Branch:master, Time:
2017-09-11_23:29:06
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

LibreOffice 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6)
tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a new Calc document.
2. A1: insert text and apply direct formatting like (align center horizontally
or bold)
3. B1: insert text and use a style of the Styles and Formatting sidebar like
"Bad" on that text
4. Go down to row 100 so that the first row isn't visible.
5. Take back a change and see if the view jumps to the first row.
6. If the view jumps, go back to row 100 and take back another change.

Actual result:
Canvas view jumps back to row 1 when undoing the change in A1 but not in B1.

Expected result:
All changes should be visible to the user.

2017-09-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I like the wording of LibreOffice 3.3.0 (OOO330m19 Build:6):
"Align Center Horizontally"
in addition to the others "Align Left" and "Align Right".

I think that we should use "Horizontally" regardless we don't offer a vertical
alignment because that is more precise and leafs no question open.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48354] Implement "export to OneNote" feature

I've installed MS OneNote at work and as far as I know, current versions of
that software (>=2013) brings their own OS-wide "printing to OneNote" feature.
It's implemented as printer. Therefore nothing has to be done by third-party
software. Sure, a button in the toolbar (like in other MS Office products)
would be nice, but I don't know the effort and if it's worth.

Watermark dialog

Since 5.4 we have the Watermark dialog, where we can set a watermark for the
document. We don't have local help for it, neither a Help button.

The Text, Font and Color fields are easy to understand, but Angle and
Transparency might need a bit of an elaboration, and maybe a few tips about
using watermarks in general.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109258] Tooling allows (and thus code has) duplicate string entries for translation

2017-09-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109258

My further investigation into this showed (because poEdit did not want for some
reason delete the duplicate string definitions from extensions/messages.pot and
opened it as it is, and then I selected the Group by content option) that all
the newly generated messages.pot - and this goes for all messages.pot files
that gathered all strings from existing UI subdir po files in LibreOffice - are
all faulty!

*They consist of quadrupled gettext strings definitions.*

A simple example is the short sccomp/messages.pot file that you can check from
git.
Here is the structure of the file (as of September 10th, 2017):
lines 1-14: header
lines 16-86: first set of string definitions
lines 89-159: second set of string definitions (a complete copy of the first
set)
lines 162-232: third set of string definitions (second copy of the first set)
lines 235-305: fourth set of string definition (third copy of the first set)

You can see where the repetitions begin because there is a double empty line
there: 15, 87 160, 233. So you can check all other messages.pot files for
double empty lines and find where it happens.

So all pot files, generated by this huge migration of UI strings, resulted in
faults - with quadrupled definitions. This is a huge problem, IMHO.

There are already several capable open source email applications, such as
Thunderbird. LibreOffice has its hands full with the existing project and
adding an email application would cause untenable spreading of resources.

Hi,

I wrote an .odt in the English version of writer and sent it to my boss who is
using the Catalan version. There is a problem with cross-references: even
though the indexes say "Illustration Index" and "Index of tables", the
cross-references in the text only show the number (not the reference category,
which would be "Table" or "Illustration") - they show in the beginning but when
you edit the document or press F9 to update them they disappear.

In that other installation, I can see all the references inside the other
language's category for table (taula) but when I try to insert yet another one,
it behaves the same (only inserts the number of the reference, even though I
selected category and number).

Thanks

the Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyghur_language
The Uyghur or Uighur language (/ˈwiːɡər/[4][5] ئۇيغۇر تىلى, Уйғур тили, Uyghur
tili, Uyƣur tili or ئۇيغۇرچە, Уйғурчә, Uyghurche, Uyƣurqə), formerly known as
Eastern Turki, is a Turkic language with 10 to 25 million speakers, spoken
primarily by the Uyghur people in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of
Western China. Significant communities of Uyghur-speakers are located in
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and various other countries have Uyghur-speaking
expatriate communities. Uyghur is an official language of the Xinjiang Uyghur
Autonomous Region, and is widely used in both social and official spheres, as
well as in print, radio, and television, and is used as a common language by
other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.[6]
Uyghur belongs to the Karluk branch of the Turkic language family, which also
includes languages such as Uzbek. Like many other Turkic languages, Uyghur
displays vowel harmony and agglutination, lacks noun classes or grammatical
gender, and is a left-branching language with subject–object–verb word order.
More distinctly Uyghur processes include, especially in northern dialects,
vowel reduction and umlauting. In addition to influence of other Turkic
languages, Uyghur has historically been influenced strongly by Persian and
Arabic, and more recently by Mandarin Chinese and Russian.
The modified Arabic-derived writing system is the most common and the only
standard in China, although other writing systems are used for auxiliary and
historical purposes. Unlike most Arabic-derived scripts, the Uyghur Arabic
alphabet has mandatory marking of all vowels due to modifications to the
original Perso-Arabic script made in the 20th century. Two Latin and one
Cyrillic alphabet are also used, though to a much lesser extent. The Arabic and
Latin alphabets both have 32 characters.

appears with two columns when reopened
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.1.2 release
  Hardware: All

The problematic document

This DOCX document was originally created in Microsoft Office. The document
begins with a short two column text, then continues with a one column text on
the same page. If the document is saved as DOCX in LibreOffice, the whole text
turns into two columns. The issue doesn't appear if the document is saved as
ODT.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the original document (columns-bug-original.docx) in LibreOffice.
2. Save the document as DOCX in LibreOffice Writer.
3, Open the saved DOCX in LO and Word 2013 as well

Actual results:
The whole document has two columns of text when opened in Writer. It has one
column in Word.

Expected results:
The original layout of the document should be preserved.
