[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112739] New: After restart, text becomes black.

2017-09-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112739

Bug ID: 112739
   Summary: After restart, text becomes black.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jmike...@outlook.com

Description:
The user cannot see the text because it is black against a black background.

Notably, if Font Color is set to white, the issue persists.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice. Go to Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Application
Colors -> Document Background -> Color setting = Black.
2. Close the Options dialogue, and the foreground text should have become
white, automatically, conveniently.
3. Restart the application and open the same document, and the text will now be
black. Go back to Application Colors and set the Font Color to White: the
problem will persist, and the font will remain black.

Actual Results:
The foreground and background are both black.

Expected Results:
The foreground text should be white, and the document background should be
black.  A normal inverted-color setting.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Workaround: Every time the document is opened, you can select all of the text
and set the Font Color to Automatic in the toolbar; however, this is not ideal.
 In fields where documents use a lot of colorized text, using this workaround
will cause too many problems, and it is better to use a white document
background.

It's very good for reducing eye strain and minimizing interference with
circadian rhythms to solve this bug. Because it's good for human health, I
hope that the bug is prioritized. Thank you.

So a redditer requested[1] the addition of a toolbar similar to the language
toolbar found in MS Office 2002/XP, which has speech recognition, text to
speech, and handwriting recognition. MS Office 2003 provides speech recognition
through Tools > Speech, but the actual toolbar seems to be an OS level
toolbar.

--- Comment #4 from Yousuf Philips (jay) ---
As this error message is invoked from multiple places, we need a generic
message that works everywhere, something like "Java is required for this
operation but wasn't found. Please ensure that it is enabled and active in
Tools > Options > Advanced."

Adolfo, Heiko, Stuart: any suggestions on the text.

Maxim, Samuel: does this text correctly cover all scenarios for when the
message would appear. also the text is found twice in the file, so can we unify
the string so translators only have to translate it once.

As most people dont use versioning and ESC mentioned the problems with it, it
would be better that '(o) Add versions' be the second radio button.

P.S. I wiped & re-installed only the main code, without help or lang packs, and
the problem remains.

BTW, the official 5.4.1 release does not have the problem. On a VM I
downloaded

result started without error.

It looks like this problem came back in 5.4.3.0 dev. builds

$ /lotest/5.4.3.0.0/opt/libreofficedev5.4/program/soffice
/lotest/5.4.3.0.0/opt/libreofficedev5.4/program/oosplash: error while loading
shared libraries: libXinerama.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory

However, the library exists:
$ locate libXinerama.so.1
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXinerama.so.1  (symlink to libXinerama.so.1.0.0)
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXinerama.so.1.0.0

So maybe the startup wrapper script is setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH incorrectly
(just a guess). I did not have any LD* environment variables myself.

because of bug 112532.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112732] Navigator Promote Demote of last entry in Header outline causes crash

2017-09-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112732

--- Comment #4 from Jim Raykowski  ---
Ok, did the reset of my profile and tried in safe mode and got the same
results. Forgot to specify that the Promote and Demote is the Chapter kind with
the up and down arrows icons.

I can replicate with other test documents. It only occurs for the last entry in
the headings outline.

soffice.bin: /home/lo/Dev/LO/core/sw/source/uibase/utlui/content.cxx:2445: void
SwContentTree::ExecCommand(const rtl::OUString&, bool): Assertion `pEntry ==
nullptr ||
dynamic_cast(static_cast(pEntry->GetUserData()))'
failed.

Tried different browsers, but no image is shown.
The image already seems missing from the website, so that's why it would be an

Hi Jacques,

the strings are still untranslated in 5.4.2.1 (pre-release). They are
translated for a long time, why it is not possible to update the Upper Sorbian

Sample document with inserted PDF (raster and vector)

I generated a PDF from a CAD file using CMS Intellicad 8.3.

The CAD file contains a raster image (JPG saved from Google Earth) and Vector
graphics and text added with Intellicad.

Viewing the PDF using Adobe Reader XI, and also with PDF Complete and
everything looks great.

When I insert the PDF into a writer document the vector graphics appear as
intended, but the raster image is a mirror image (mirror on the x-axis) .

A sample file it attached. Original contained personal information.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112657] SfxUndoManager_Data:: SfxUndoManager_Data leaks memory with multiple invocations

2017-09-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112657

--- Comment #6 from Julien Nabet  ---
I traced the number of calls to constructor and destructor.
For ChartModel, it's ok, same number
It's wrong for UndoManager, I only see calls to its constructor, none for
destructor.
The use of UndoManager in ChartModel is:
::rtl::Reference< UndoManager > m_pUndoManager;
(see https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/chart2/inc/ChartModel.hxx#133)

I noticed destructor of ChartModel is:
196  ChartModel::~ChartModel()
197  {
198  if( m_xOldModelAgg.is())
199  m_xOldModelAgg->setDelegator( nullptr );
200  }

But then I'm completely lost since I don't know enough about rtl::reference,
weak ref, acquire/release, dispose/disposing to help here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87590] Table Caption option inexistent in context menu

2017-09-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87590

--- Comment #20 from V Stuart Foote  ---
(In reply to digisus from comment #19)
>
> Please revert the default as it has been for years: Put back by default an
> "insert caption" to the table context menu. It has been there for over a
> decade and for good reason.

And why it was added to the Table Toolbar which is context sensitive and
displays by default when a Table object is created or active for editing. What
is new is an ability to move from static source based GUI for context menus to
xml configurable interface. We no longer needed _all_ the controls as defaults.

Personally, I use caption/title or not, depending on the document needs,
likewise for figures/images.

But there is plenty of space on Table context menus when active. Otherwise I am
neutral on including Caption/Title on context menu for Table objects. Add it
back if folks think it is useful enough--or leave it off the context menu, I
don't care and the vast majority of users will not.

Meanwhile, it is simple to add it yourself to context menu for Tables in your
own persistent user profile...

1. Tools -> Customize -> Context Menus (tab) -> Table (from droplist)
2. position the Menu content entries to where you'd like
3. click the Add Command button
4. from Insert Category, or All Categories scroll and select "Caption"
5. click the Add button

then verify the Insert Caption remains on exit relaunch of LibreOffice, it
does.

Note: at 6.0 the Customize dialog is reworked and includes search capability,
but similar ability to customize any of the context menus.

You don't need the filename. The info is in Help/About as "VCL: ???".

Since there are automatic fallbacks, if a VCL plugin isn't installed, just
always check Help/About.

And please move / delete your "~/.config/libreoffice/4" profile. If this helps,
we're probably missing some migration code for old profiles / menu renames /
UNO name changes.

> solarmutex.cxx:0

Nice.

As for most of my clean-ups, I have dropped a few workarounds and exchanged
them for std::abort() calls, so instead of ignoring the problem and hoping for
the best, LO quits / crashs.

In this case we try to release the SolarMutex we don't own, which is forbidden
AKA undefined. Either the Mutex is locked by an other thread, or not locked at
all. If frame #3 had a valid line number, one would know which of these two is
the problem here.

My guess: somewhere in this BT we must grab the SolarMutex, so we can correctly
release it. Since we're doing GUI stuff, we definitely need it.

--- Comment #3 from andréb  ---
Further tests show that libo apparently expands multiline heading fields to one
(possibly very long) line, which did not occur with libo 4.4.7.2.
A resulting very long heading field can be long enough to occupy the maximum
width in the sort selection window, meaning that the ascending/descending
buttons are no longer displayed.
The solution is to reserve a space to the right for the ascending/descending
buttons.
A multiline heading probably contains supplementary info ABOVE the main heading
text, meaning that if such a heading becomes too long, it is better to omit
text above, or to the left of a combined line.

eg.

could become

...explanation for a description

(Note that when libo combines lines it puts a space in place of CR)

--- Comment #1 from Dieter Praas  ---
I could confirm this bug with LO 5.4.2.2

I choosed Landscape (width 126cm; height 70cm; default margins) and could only
type with a width of 6cm. I changed to 125cm and the width of the text was
reduced to 5 cm. Everything was fine with 119 cm. So it is al little different
to the original bug report.

--- Comment #19 from digisus  ---
With all due respect, I am using LO in an academic setting since v1.0. The
reason I switched from Word were exactly these features. Students and academics
NEED to add captions to tables as they do to images and any other object in a
document:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=scientific+writing+table+captions

Citing a few slobby formatted LO manuals (some have captions, some have
not...wha??) does not help at all, they are not academic texts.

Please revert the default as it has been for years: Put back by default an
"insert caption" to the table context menu. It has been there for over a decade
and for good reason.

As to the "space" argument: How about letting users decide in the preferences
whether they want to have simplified menus or fully-featured menus aka basic
users and power users? Academics would not mind long menus as long as they can
do everything they need on the spot and most basic users hardly use captions at
all.

Thanks for listening!
