https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114491 Yousuf Philips (jay) changed: What|Removed |Added Hardware|x86-64 (AMD64) |All Blocks||85811 Summary|Dropdown from toolbar too |Scrolling menu bar menus at |tall, too many toplevel |low vertical resolutions |items in menus | OS|Windows (All) |All --- Comment #6 from Yousuf Philips (jay) --- (In reply to capri from comment #0) > I have a 768 vertical resolution and with the start menu, there is not > enough space for the menus (File, edit, view, etc) because everything is on > the top level instead of nested in folders. It makes things difficult to > navigate especially because the menu takes the whole height of my screen > instead of just adding a down arrow to scroll down the dropdown. Each top level menu bar item's menu have multiple nested submenus in them, but yes even with these multiple nested submenus a menu can become to large for a 768 vertical resolution, resulting in a user having to scroll the open menu to reach the bottom items. > Which brings me to also add that it's inconvenient that menus stretch on top > of the main bar. That behaviour makes it impossible to browse through the > menus because they're hidden underneath the dropdown. You need to close the > dropdown and click the next menu. Didnt follow what this meant. Can you provide a screenshot. > Steps to Reproduce: > 1. set your vertical resolution to 768 > 2. click on Insert > > Actual Results: > Format, Styles, Table, Tools and Window is inaccessible until you close the > drop down menu. Wasnt able to reproduce this on my 768 vertical resolution windows 8.1 laptop. > Expected Results: > The drop down should not be stretched vertically on top of the toolbar. Dont understand what this means. Do you mean that the expanded menu shouldnt cover the toolbars? (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3) > We state in our guideline [1] that WXGA 1280x768px is the minimum required > screen resolution. Tested myself with 1024x768 and in fact you have to > scroll the last three entries for Insert (or more when you not hide the > Windows task bar). The situation became worse lately as new items were added > to the root level. Yes with 5.4, you had to scroll the last 3 items in the Insert menu, but that was solved in 6.0 with the creation of the new Form top level menu, but then the Signature Line entry was added to the Insert menu this last week which has resulted in the same scroll appearing again. The insert menu in writer will always be faced with this problem, especially as more insert functions get added and i dont see any means to group these unrelated insert functions into a single submenu, unless it called 'More Functions' or something like that. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114484 --- Comment #10 from Heiko Tietze --- Don't see a difference when I check the internal print dialog option or not (using "gen" VCL). Bad usability, btw, to completely hide options - both internal dialogs are hidden depending on the setup. Haven't counted the tickets at bug 103309 but there are a lot. At least for the internal file dialog I don't see progress to make them work. And for what reason? So my take is, after all Rene's concerns and since headless and gen use the internal file dialogs, that we strip down any additional functionality and dont even try to make them competitive with the system picker. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77346 --- Comment #36 from Ryan Tandy --- Hello, I tested this again with: - Calc 5.4.3.2 on Debian 9.3 (stretch) - Calc 5.3.7.2 on Windows 10 and following the instructions in comment #23. The behaviour does seem to have changed since I originally reported the bug. I no longer experience a lag of several seconds. However, Calc does still become noticeably less responsive after Select All (Ctrl-A) and changing the font. It's easy to see if you use the arrow keys to move around: immediately after opening the document, arrow key navigation is quite responsive; but after changing the font on the entire document, there is noticeable lag in redrawing the row/column indicators. Even though it's much better than it used to be, as the steps to reproduce still result in a visible change in UI performance, I'm leaving the status as open for now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114501] New: Copy pasting from OpenOffice/ LibreOffice to Thunderbird ruins formatting
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114501 Bug ID: 114501 Summary: Copy pasting from OpenOffice/LibreOffice to Thunderbird ruins formatting Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.3.4.2 release Hardware: x86 (IA32) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tbreport...@protonmail.com Description: Copy pasting from OpenOffice/LibreOffice with default formatting, to Thunderbird Mail Composer will ruin the formatting in the Thunderbird Mail Composer. This happens even if the user has unchecked the option "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default" from Thunderird. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write text in OpenOffice or Libreoffice with default formatting (line spacing is 1). Select this text and press CTRL+C. 2. Open Thunderbird and go to Preferences -> Composition. From here uncheck the box "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default". Press close. 3. Open Thunderbird and press the Write button to open a new window to write an email. 4. Paste the text you copied from OpenOffice/Libreoffice to this "Write window" of Thunderbird. Actual Results: The formatting of the pasted text is now ruined, because it is paragraph formatted (it should not be). Also if I select all of the text, and change from "Paragraph" to "Body Text", it does not change the formatting the way it should be. Expected Results: By pasting text from OpenOffice/LibreOffice to Thunderbird, the formatting should stay the same, just like it was in the original OpenOffice/LibreOffice file. (And not change into paragraph formatting.) [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114484] Make internal file and print dialogs obsolete
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114484 --- Comment #8 from Rene Engelhard --- Hmm. I am bit torn about this issue I agree that these dialogs should be ideally not used. Normal desktop integration will use system file dialogs. But what about print? Do we use the KDE print dialog? Anyways, Heiko tells me on IRC that the plan is also to remove the internal code for these. There os where problems begin: There is cases where you don't have the needed stuff: - nothing for kde5 - file pickers disabled for kde4 at runtime with non-patched Qt4 - gtk2 and gtk3 can both be disabled. Also can be in own packages. So you might not have *any* of those. What are you then going to use? Of course, one could inflict a gtk3 dependency here, but is it worth it? And will LO then have a hard gtk3 dependency when people use a (prospective) gtk4 VCLPlug? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113780] Password-protected PDF which should allow opening still prompts for password
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113780 --- Comment #18 from V Stuart Foote --- Issue here remains, we seem to be mishandling the /P document security. As for bug 103807 if we choose to not implement the arbitrary privacy settings of later PDF specs--we should not limit ability to read a PDF if password is not otherwise required to read it. So even if we retain our handling per 103807, something in our handling of password protected PDF does need a tweak. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
