[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115418] Suggested improvement: Use * / to apply text styles

2018-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115418

Leandro, what exactly is your request?

a) Extend the inbuilt auto-correct options with standardized markdown/-up
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightweight_markup_language)

b) Make auto-correction a character style
*bold* -> bold

c) Export/Copy the text as markdown
(Would be another ticket)

For additional reference, we could consider what ThinkFree Office does to font

in this weak, i downloaded libreoffice 4.3.4.1 and libreoffice crashed for me
when openning the file.
i think i should download 4.3.0 and see if this version can open my book or
libreoffice crashes again like newer versions.
i also, could open my book in libreoffice 5.1.6, 5.2.5, 5.2.6, 5.2.7, 5.3.3
until 5.3.5 without any crash!
not sure about newer versions of writer because version 6 does not support xp
and i am not comfortable with newer versions and dont use them.

Meanwhile the 6 version still be unstable and many user will still install a
version 5 for months (years ?). As a workaround could we possibly disable the
hardware acceleration by default for all users when installing the versions 5 ?
Each user could later enable it by hand if he/she wants.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115418] Suggested improvement: Use * / to apply text styles

2018-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115418

--- Comment #6 from Leandro Martín Drudi ---
The ability to customize the style opens up countless possibilities for the
user; making it optional (at Write level or at Document level even more) to
format your documents. Replacing 4[*] steps for what it would be enough to type
*too* is beneficial in time for the writer. And if the user wants to do it in
certain documents or save the replacement option in the template, much more.

[*] Write the text, select it, search for the style, apply it

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46988] VIEWING: Screen jumps when scrolling down with arrow keys, refactor Smooth Scroll function

2018-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46988

The "smooth scroll" option is still present in Version: 6.0.1.1
It does nothing.

¿Why keep offering an option which has no effect whatsoever? I find it weird.
Considering that the 1st message of this thread is from 2012, wouldn't it be
more elegant to at least *remove the option* until something can be done about
it? It just seems it is not a priority for LO developers (and I'm not in a
position to question that), so why not simply remove the option and (likely)
forget about this? In this case, I don't agree with "let's leave it until we
fix the real problem in the code", because it seems a little strange to
maintain several versions of the same application keeping an option without any
effect (and of course, even more considering that this is known for so long).

Just my thoughts.

Why not go with character styles only instead of using direct formatting
without a new option for the user. The only problem I see is if the user
changed the attributes of--for example--Strong Emphasis character style from
bold to red and *too* results in a red string instead of bold.

For me this is a problem LibO should solve and not the user should search for a
way that LibO can export it to have it right-looking in exported HTML files. If
a user wants have 3 spaces between characters, this should be preserved for
HTML view as much as technically and semantically possible.

How this is achieved is another question, I haven't worked with HTML/CSS for a
decade.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116075] New: EDITING: Unwanted dragging of sheets + contents then deleted

2018-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116075

Bug ID: 116075
Summary: EDITING: Unwanted dragging of sheets + contents then
deleted
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tomstew...@gmx.fr

Description:
My OS is Ubuntu 17.10. When I try to navigate between sheets, it grabs and
drags them along. I am not holding down on any button to drag them, but this
happens anyway. Much worse: after it drags a sheet, it often deletes all of its
contents!

Similarly, if I copy a selection of cells, and then paste them elsewhere, it
won't let go of the pasted selection. It will keep dragging it around the sheet
as if I am holding down on it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a file with >3 sheets, all with several columns. In each cell of each
column, there are a few words of text.
2(a): Hover the cursor back and forth over the sheet names. Click on one sheet,
then try to click on another.
2(b): Select and copy three cells in a row. Paste anywhere else. Try to click
anywhere else in the sheet.

Actual Results:
2(a): The user is not holding down any button, but the cursor grabs grabs the
sheets, drags them along, and often then deletes their contents.
2(b): The pasted selection is dragged along, even though the user is not
holding down any button.

Expected Results:
2(a): It should be possible to click on individual sheets, and then work on the
selected sheet. It should be possible to hold down on a sheet and drag it left
or right, and for this to be released when the user releases the hold-down
button.
2(b): It should be possible to navigate away from pasted cells.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
This happens when I use my mouse, and also when I completely unplug the mouse
and use the trackpad. This behaviour only happens within LibreOffice Calc, no
other programme. This leads me to believe that the source of the problem is
LibreOffice Calc, not my mouse/trackpad or my own behaviour.

This unwanted dragging has made the programme very difficult to use, and the
deleting of contents has made me lose a lot of work.

This is likely a Windows-only issue.
Try to e-mail a document with an e-mail client set up (at least works with
Outlook).

=> While the user is writing the e-mail, LibreOffice window is unresponsive in
the background.

Reproduced using LO 6.1 master build / Windows 7.

Is component 'Writer' the right one? If changed, it should be changed in all
components as well as in Calc.

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #1)

Calc only works as intended in this bug report if you insert columns left or
rows above. Not for columns right and rows below (because in fact the selection
doesn't change).

I'm not in favor of changing neither keeping the behavior, I haven't paid
attention to this in the past to say what's better.

But if we change it, to which cell should the cursor moving especially in RTL,
CTL, CJK languages when several rows/columns are added? In LTR it's the
top-left cell I assume. In Calc it's easier as the whole cell selection should
move to the newly added rows/columns.

The associated attribute text:anchor-type exists two times in file format. One
is in section 19.754, which means it is property of an individual object; the
other is in section 20.408, which means it is a style. Currently LibreOffice
uses it as object property. From point of file format a change would be
possible. At the same time issue 113381 needs to be solved.

This is an old request.

Bug ID: 116073
Summary: FILESAVE PPTX Background gradient in chart gets lost
when saving as PPTX
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress

Created attachment 140198
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=140198=edit
Sample document (in ODP)

Consider the attached document.

Saving this as PPTX and reopening the PPTX you'll find the gradient
in the background of the chart is lost. (Not that this was a nice
background, but...)

This was properly imported from a PPTX originally, so an issue with
the export filter I assume?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87525] Remove the option 'Current selection only' in Find and Replace

> Solution 2: Check 'current selection only' by default regardless anything
> has been selected before (you wont be able to change all occurrences unless
> you expand other options and untick the checkbox)
> Solution 3: Keep the current behavior (modifications to the selection while

> start with a selection but unselect later)
I vote for: improve the current behavior. Now if you select a cell range and
open the F dialog, the 'current selection only' option is activated
automatically. If you deselect the cell range, then the option will be
deactivated automatically. The problem is that the other way round (nothing
selected, F opened, then cell range selected) doesn't work automatically.
Also a subsequent selection of a cell range doesn't activate the 'current
selection only' option again. This must be enhanced.

> Solution 4: Drop the option and apply the function to the selection; if

> always the selection or the full sheet if nothing is selected
I'm against removing the option because it doesn't harm in the use case what
was the reason for this bug report. LibreOffice boasts of its flexibility and
configurability. Removing this option would counteract that principles.

Bug ID: 116072
Summary: Improve spell checking by better word breaking for

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Following cases results false alarms during Hungarian spell checking:

példá(k)
csinál(hat)nak
(1)-ben
[1]-ben
Mi van?-nal
Helló!-val
„Élet és Irodalom”-ban

Suggested solution: handling (, ), ], ”, ?, ! as MidLetter during word breaking
will pass the previous word forms to Hunspell, where using Hunspell feature
IGNORE and BREAK can ignore the parentheses and recognize stems and
hyphen+affixes.

Remove StringMirror UNO service.

This was a kludge from back in the day when pdfimport was an
extension and could not link against office libs.

While at it, fix mirror method to handle unicode surrogates
correctly.

I've uploaded the sample videos a little bit more than a month ago. It was
there in version 5 and I saw it using version 6. Do you want me to check if it
can be still observed? I haven't repeated it using the latest version 6. I'm on

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open the attached ODT file.
2) When the following popup appears (translated from french), click "Keep old
styles":

"Model 'modele_test' on which this document is based has changed. Do you want
to update the format based on the modified model?"

3) No need to edit the document. Simply close the document, and LibreOffice
will ask you if you want to save changes (which ones??). Click "Do not save".

4) LibreOffice crashes. This is also reproducible with 6.0.1.1, see

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116071] New: .doc style is lost after saving file as .odt

2018-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116071

Bug ID: 116071
Summary: .doc style is lost after saving file as .odt
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ho...@mogi.at

Description:
I have to use a .doc file where some style for a heading is used. In
particular, a background area-fill is set for 'Heading 1'.
If I save this .doc as .odt and reopen the file the 'Area'-fill is set to
'None'.
As long as I use the .doc nothing changes on reopen. But if I look into the
style I see already 'None' set for the 'Area'-fill tab. So I think that
LO-Writer does show the imported style correctly but does not set the dialogues
for the styles corretly. When saving the document as .odt all some information
about the style is lost.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached .doc file
2. Check the style of 'Heading 1': Area is set to 'None' even if a color is
used as background fill
3. Save file as .odt
4. Close LO and reopen the .odt file; The Fill color of 'Heading 1' is no more
visible!!
5. Check the style of 'Heading 1': Area is still set to 'None'.

Actual Results:
After saving the .doc as .odt some style information like 'Area'-fill is gone.

Expected Results:
The saved .odt should look like the .doc (with area-fill in headings)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The area fill is visible as long as you use the .doc even if in the
style-dialogue the 'Area' is set to 'None'. Maybe only the dialogue values are
not set correctly in the first place when opening in with the .doc.

Always also try the latest master as I'm finding and fixing problems that
aren't covered by out automatic tests on regular basis and fixing them.

Also does it happen when you insert image, save, close, open? Always try this
as that would mean the problem is in ODF export. Or save with the release
version, then open with the LO master, then that would indicate the problem is
with ODF import. If both of them work fine, then the problem is in core
handling.

Actually maybe it would be good to not report bugs regarding images for a week
or two and then look into this (and other potential issues) again.

First, thanks for the report. Accessibility enhancements are important to make
life and work for all people easier.

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #2)
> Of course, would be distracting as default. So would probably need to be

Thought the same that such feature should not be the default.
> Also, would think providing an ability to set the view to high-contrast or
> apply alternate color scheme would provide correct a11y interface to make

Isn't the contrast aspect of this report part of OS settings? If so, the
highlighting and text selection colors will be influenced by such a11y setting
I assume. Generally to change the selection color from lightblue to e.g. red is
no good idea as this color shouldn't be too intrusive. Maybe fixing Bug 92303
will improve the situation (inverting color was suggested in Bug 92303 comment
3).

Weird that the import filter does a font replacement of Arial for Times New
Roman

The pdfium insert filter handles correctly, if a too low a resolution.

The page is

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.1/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060109.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3153181

>From the description in comment#2

I am not sure why the double quotation marks are used where they are on the
help page. I think they should be used around the entire expression in
brackets, with single quote marks around the filename. In the Calc Guide v3.4,
p.250 indicates the general format for a reference as:

='file:///Path & File Name'#$SheetName.CellName

and current help contents, it looks the help page is correct when states that
Ref parameter must be a text expression, and therefore must be treated as
string, with all limitations it bears.

Please provide here the text to fix or to be inserted in the help page.

That's the fix (for my machine, that is). Still a bit strange since the test

Anyway: many, many thanks and all the best!

Quote from:
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/131310/libreoffice-54-font-gui-problem-just-rectangles-macos/

This worked:

1. Open Applications / Font Book.app
2. File -> Restore Standard Fonts
3. All non-system/default fonts will be removed and put into ~/Library/Fonts
(Removed)
4. Close and reopen LibreOffice; it should work now
5. Optionally: reinstall the fonts from the removed folder and check if it
still works; if not, rinse and repeat until you have identified the culprit
font. In my case, I had another version of Helvetica Neue installed.
