[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116278] MAILMERGE (Labels): Unused labels at end of last page should be completely blank
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116278 --- Comment #6 from Ted Lee--- I'm afraid I can't say "WORKSFORME" because it doesn't! My "bug", if you are willing to call it that, is that the label function does not work the way a user expects it to: If I have only 25 records in my database, only 25 labels should be printed! -- but, say, the page has room for 30 labels, the function will print any static data in the master label in the remaining 5 labels. In principle I don't understand why it should be so hard to make it work the way it should, but I do sense that the label function was added after mail merge and used that in the simplest way possible to accomplish the task and somehow the present behavior is a side-effect of that implementation. The strange floating "synchronize" window that shows up to implement labels is an indication that it is a strange, albeit I am sure clever, design. Yes, it would be relatively easy to add a static column containing a comma (or other static text like a To: or From:) in a small database. But if it were one that had thousands of records it wouldn't be. I do believe, however, one could easily create a view of the database that added an extra computed field that simply was a constant, and use that view to drive the label engine, but I wasn't quickly able to figure out how to do that. The built-in help for databases isn't very helpful when it comes to creating views and I was too lazy to dig around the net for a better tutorial or description on how do to it. (I am sure you can create a view that, say, creates a field C that is the sum of fields A and B, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. But if you can do that, you ought to be able to create a field that is just a constant value.) Still not something you ought to have to do to get the label feature to work right, but it isn't much more burdensome than what you have to do to suppress printing blank lines. So I'm willing to tag the bug as WorkAroundAvailable (or however that is marked) and of course would recommend the help text for labels has something on the topic (as well as how to suppress blank lines.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116555] New: Create HTML document(s) via Send yields anchor document with wrong extension
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116555 Bug ID: 116555 Summary: Create HTML document(s) via Send yields anchor document with wrong extension Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.2.1 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: gerhard.we...@t-online.de Creating a set of web documents using Send -> Create HML Document does, in contrast to earlier releases, result in a start document which doesn't work. Take (in LibO version 6.0.2.1, I haven't tested earlier versions after 5.2) a writer document which contains at least one heading of level 1. Choose File -> Send -> Create HTML Document The styles setting then should be "Outline: Level 1"; if not, select it; this is not crucial, but perhaps necessary for the document to be created. Enter a file name "xxx" and save. More or less files starting with "xxx" will be created, the start file will be xxx.xhtml. Now this file causes problems: opening it yields an error message, which obviously is a result from its first line being incompatible with the extension xhtml. This extension is new: in version 5.2 the extension was htm, which worked. If, for the file created with version 6.0, you change the extension to htm or html, as it was in earlier releases, or set it when creating the file, it still works. So the problem seems to be that the start file for all the detail web pages has the wrong extension (or the specification in the first line is incorrect, I cannot judge that). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Changing the markdown direct formatting into a character style would require first of all two additional styles. Not a big deal as well as the switch from SID_ATTR_CHAR_WEIGHT to STR_POOLCHR_HTML_STRONG (or whatever the correct command is). But the advantage is opposed by the loss of control. If users change Strong Emphasis for some reason the markdown is not working as expected anymore (consider that people try out and forget what has been done). We took also an option into consideration where the user can decide whether the current direct formatting or a character style is applied by the autocorrect function but I'm strongly against this over-engineering. So the decision is to resolve this request as WONTFIX to keep control over the convenience function. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115553] [ENHANCEMENT] Para/Char Styles in Writer: make possible to toggle font attributes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115553 --- Comment #5 from ajlittoz--- @Kenneth Hanson I went through bug 108498 and it confirms that paragraph and character styles are in their own hierarchies without links between each other. >I suspect that what you want to do … probably isn't possible within the ODF >standard. I haven't read ODF, so correct me if i'm wrong. IMO, ODF describes how the stored file looks like so that conforming implementation can read it and retrieve information from it to display as the writer semantically intended. A document processor adds an "ergonomics layer" over the standard so that an average user can insert the XML elements with a few clicks or keyins without knowing all what's happening in the backstage. The UI decouples file ODF internals from user action to get document layout. As long as you find a way to convert typographical concepts into a sequence of XML primitives, even if contorted a bit, you don't need to change the standard. For instance, when importing .doc or .docx documents, the import engine creates many "anonymous" character styles to translate intra-paragraph formatting because the concept does not exist in MS Office. I'm wondering, for my case, if such a workaround could be possible, eventually using mangled styles names to signal to LO Writer that the style has special dynamic properties, e.g. adding some __ just like we have _20_ to encode a space. The idea is to make the special properties "transparent" or "neutral" if document is opened with something different from LO Writer and fully processed in an extended LO Writer. In this strategy, the burden of handling the extra style properties is pushed from ODF layer to LO Writer processing layer. Tell me if that makes sense. I am fully aware that there is a considerable distance from idea to implementation, though. Also, I'm confident that ODF will evolve sooner or later (certainly rather later) in the direction sketched, i.e. the possibility for character styles to be context (paragraph) aware. "Toggling" is another issue because "toggle" is difficult to define (what is "bold" for instance? You have many weights in a single family. What is "italic"? You may have several slant angles.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98316] FORMATTING Dotted lines should really be dots and not short dashes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98316 --- Comment #7 from Regina Henschel--- Created attachment 140801 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=140801=edit paragraph with dotted border The problem does not only exists for tables, but for other borders too. Attached is a file, where the paragraph "2 paragraph dotted" should have a 'dotted' border. It is rendered in something more like a hatching than 'dots'. The underlying specification of CSS2 has only the text "The border is a series of dots." without saying what a "dot" is. The upcoming specification of CSS3 is more accurate. It says "A series of round dots." [https://www.w3.org/TR/css-backgrounds-3/#the-border-style] Open the attached file and export it to EPUB and open the result e.g. in Microsoft Edge. You will see little circles. Because all browsers and EPUB show round dots, I think it is time to make true round dots in LibreOffice too. The current way is at least for wide borders far away from "dot". [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113479] TRACK CHANGES: Unneeded popup
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113479 --- Comment #11 from Darrell--- Bug 116526, which was just marked as a duplicate of this bug, is mine. I don't find this popup as annoying as JIM7 appears to, but I can confirm that it continues to exist in Writer 6.0.2.1. For anyone trying to duplicate this behavior, note that the popup is conditioned on rRedlineTable.size() > MAX_REDLINE_COUNT, which is currently defined to be 250 (see DocumentRedlineManager.cxx lines 2702-2722). I haven't dug into the code enough to figure out what determines rRedlineTable.size(), but it seems likely that it's a function of the number of distinct changes recorded. As I noted in my bug report, the timing of the popup feels random in a file with no recorded changes; it does not appear after the first change. In my experience once the popup has appeared, opening a new file and setting Track Changes on and Show Changes off results in the popup appearing at the first change in the new file, even if the first file has been closed, so it appears that the table size is persistent within a session. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Usually, this package is installed automatically during the OS installation when a corresponding graphics device is found on your machine. The KMP gives users also another benefit: You can roll back to the 4.4.x kernel code by uninstalling this package. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116278 --- Comment #5 from Jan-Marek Glogowski--- Since you didn't write about the data source: if it's a Calc sheet you can construct the required string in an additional column. And even if it is not it would probably be easier to generate a Calc sheet from the data. Then you can manipulate the data in a way suitable for mail merge. There is no way mail merge will ever remove commas between fields. The only properties mail merge works with are fields and section visibility. Anything more advanced has to be handled by some view in a database, where you can use SQL to manipulate strings, or Calc functions to construct an additional Calc sheet column. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116278 --- Comment #3 from Ted Lee--- At one point I tried using hidden sections to suppress blank lines, as suggested somewhere on-line, but as I recall I had trouble making it work. But I did find that turning every line into a paragraph and then using hidden paragraphs worked fine to suppress blank lines. In the case of a line that had no data fields (because it was in a label after the last record) I could not use that to suppress the line (paragraph) containing just static data (such as the comma between city and state) -- presumably because that label was never actually processed. Thinking about your response I did realize one way to accomplish what I want. Rather than putting static data (such as that comma between city and state) in the master label, all I would need do is put a field for the comma in my database, populating it with a comma in every record. I'm not sure if that would be easier than simply editing the last page of the label document before printing it, but at least I wouldn't have to remember to do it! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116547 Bug ID: 116547 Summary: Export of mathematical formula in Writer document to DOCX is displayed incorrectly in Word Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.2.1 release Hardware: All OS: Mac OS X (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: filters and storage Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ipla...@tuta.io Description: I had to create a series of mathematical formulae for a translation in a Writer document (ODT) and then save the document as DOCX to pass on to a client. When I opened the DOCX document in Word, I was surprised and understandably rather annoyed to discover that the equations were no longer displayed as they appeared in Writer. I am enclosing a sample of the formulae as entered in Writer and as exported to DOCX along with screenshots. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the Writer document containing the formulae and sample text. 2. Save as DOCX. 3. Open in Word and compare the difference between the Writer document display and the Word document display. Note how the lower limit of the sum symbol has been displaced to right hand side of the sum symbol. Actual Results: Incorrect display of the equation when exported to docx. Expected Results: Identical display of the formulae both in Writer and Word.
