[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106358] Android: Unable to save any document

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106358

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116278] MAILMERGE (Labels): Unused labels at end of last page should be completely blank

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116278

I'm afraid I can't say "WORKSFORME" because it doesn't! My "bug", if you are
willing to call it that, is that the label function does not work the way a
user expects it to: If I have only 25 records in my database, only 25 labels
should be printed! -- but, say, the page has room for 30 labels, the function
will print any static data in the master label in the remaining 5 labels. In
principle I don't understand why it should be so hard to make it work the way
it should, but I do sense that the label function was added after mail merge
and used that in the simplest way possible to accomplish the task and somehow
the present behavior is a side-effect of that implementation. The strange
floating "synchronize" window that shows up to implement labels is an
indication that it is a strange, albeit I am sure clever, design.

Yes, it would be relatively easy to add a static column containing a comma (or
other static text like a To: or From:) in a small database. But if it were one
that had thousands of records it wouldn't be. I do believe, however, one could
easily create a view of the database that added an extra computed field that
simply was a constant, and use that view to drive the label engine, but I
wasn't quickly able to figure out how to do that. The built-in help for
databases isn't very helpful when it comes to creating views and I was too lazy
to dig around the net for a better tutorial or description on how do to it. (I
am sure you can create a view that, say, creates a field C that is the sum of
fields A and B, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. But if you can do
that, you ought to be able to create a field that is just a constant value.)
Still not something you ought to have to do to get the label feature to work
right, but it isn't much more burdensome than what you have to do to suppress
printing blank lines. So I'm willing to tag the bug as WorkAroundAvailable (or
however that is marked) and of course would recommend the help text for labels
has something on the topic (as well as how to suppress blank lines.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116555] New: Create HTML document(s) via Send yields anchor document with wrong extension

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116555

Bug ID: 116555
Summary: Create HTML document(s) via Send yields anchor
document with wrong extension
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gerhard.we...@t-online.de

Creating a set of web documents using Send -> Create HML Document does, in
contrast to earlier releases, result in a start document which doesn't work.
Take (in LibO version 6.0.2.1, I haven't tested earlier versions after 5.2) a
writer document which contains at least one heading of level 1. Choose File ->
Send -> Create HTML Document The styles setting then should be "Outline: Level
1"; if not, select it; this is not crucial, but perhaps necessary for the
document to be created. Enter a file name "xxx" and save.
More or less files starting with "xxx" will be created, the start file will be
xxx.xhtml. Now this file causes problems: opening it yields an error message,
which obviously is a result from its first line being incompatible with the
extension xhtml. This extension is new: in version 5.2 the extension was htm,
which worked. If, for the file created with version 6.0, you change the
extension to htm or html, as it was in earlier releases, or set it when
creating the file, it still works.
So the problem seems to be that the start file for all the detail web pages has
the wrong extension (or the specification in the first line is incorrect, I
cannot judge that).

When you create a table in Writer and apply a style and when you insert a row,
all the style (styles and formatting) reverts back to default. What one
expects is all new rows will be following the styles above and below it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a table
2. Create a custom style and apply it to the table.
3. Insert a row in the table.

Actual Results:
The style disappeared and all formatting goes to default.

Expected Results:
The styles will be preserved and the new row will be following the style before
it (or after).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116553] New: Bad usability in UI if you have search bar and enumeration bar open at same time

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 116553
Summary: Bad usability in UI if you have search bar and
enumeration bar open at same time
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: clemenspr...@yahoo.de

Description:
If you reach the search result for your word within your enumeration, the
location of the arrow button to go to the next search result changes its
location. Rather then going to the next search result, you click on some kind
of formatting item on the enumeration list format bar.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write a page full of text and use any kind of enumeration list
2. press CTRL + F to search for a word which is included in the text and also
included in your enumeration (so your word must be > 1 times existing in your
text)
3. use the arrow buttons to navigate between the search results (going to the
next search result)

Actual Results:
If you reach the search result for your word within your enumeration, the
location of the arrow button to go to the next search result changes its
location. Rather then going to the next search result, you click on some kind
of formatting item on the enumeration list format bar.

Expected Results:
Next search result arrow button has always same position so you can easily
navigate without ENTER rather than doing formatting your enumeration by
accident.

- OpenGL inactive, HW inactive: no error

Basically, it's like before, but OpenGL is new. I am not sure what its default
state is, in my case it was _active_, I can't remember if I ever changed this
checkbox manually.

Behaviour for me with LO 6.0.0.3

- OpenGL inactive, HW active: error is still existing
- OpenGL inactive, HW inactive: no error
- OpenGL active (HW greyed out): no error

Basically, it's like before, but OpenGL is new. I am not sure what its default
state is, in my case it was _active_, I can't remember if I ever changed this
checkbox manually.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116551] New: FORMATTING some pictures are displayed tilted, but not all

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116551

Bug ID: 116551
Summary: FORMATTING some pictures are displayed tilted, but not
all
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stefan_lange...@t-online.de

Created attachment 140802
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=140802=edit
zip File with 4 screenshots and 3 sample pictures

The reported problem exists in LO 6.1 x64 builds for Windows from 17.03.2018
and later. In build created until 16.03.2018 it didn't exist.

In a writer document with imbedded pictures many of them are displayed
correctly, but some of them are displayed "tilted" to right. The part of the
picture fallen out on the right side is added on the left side.
Screenshot: "LO_6.1_document_with_wrongly_displayed_picture.JPG" in the attachd
zip file

As I have seen it is only a display problem. In printed or exported as pdf
documents the pictures are shown correctly.

The problem exists not only in Writer, but also in Draw and in the LibreOffice
Start screen (some thumbnail pictures tilted).

Not all pictures are affected by the problem, but pictures wrongly dsplayed in
Writer are also wrongly displayed in Draw and vice versa.

Screenshots:
- LO_6.1_wrongly_displayed_picture.JPG
- LO_6.1_correctly_displayed_picture.JPG
- LO_6.1_Start_Screen.JPG

First I have thought that images are not affected if they are wider than they
are high, but this is not correct:
- sample picture "Altix_BA_russisch.jpg" is correctly displayed when opened
with Draw or inserted with Writer in odt document
- sample picture "K-980 Altix I orig.jpg" is wrongly displayed, smaller version
"K-980 Altix I.jpg" is correctly displayed

We discussed the suggestion in the design meeting. Changing the markdown direct
formatting into a character style would require first of all two additional
styles. Not a big deal as well as the switch from SID_ATTR_CHAR_WEIGHT to
STR_POOLCHR_HTML_STRONG (or whatever the correct command is). But the advantage
is opposed by the loss of control. If users change Strong Emphasis for some
reason the markdown is not working as expected anymore (consider that people
try out and forget what has been done). We took also an option into
consideration where the user can decide whether the current direct formatting
or a character style is applied by the autocorrect function but I'm strongly
against this over-engineering. So the decision is to resolve this request as
WONTFIX to keep control over the convenience function.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115553] [ENHANCEMENT] Para/Char Styles in Writer: make possible to toggle font attributes

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115553

@Kenneth Hanson

I went through bug 108498 and it confirms that paragraph and character styles
are in their own hierarchies without links between each other.

>I suspect that what you want to do … probably isn't possible within the ODF
>standard.

I haven't read ODF, so correct me if i'm wrong.

IMO, ODF describes how the stored file looks like so that conforming
implementation can read it and retrieve information from it to display as the
writer semantically intended.

A document processor adds an "ergonomics layer" over the standard so that an
average user can insert the XML elements with a few clicks or keyins without
knowing all what's happening in the backstage. The UI decouples file ODF
internals from user action to get document layout.

As long as you find a way to convert typographical concepts into a sequence of
XML primitives, even if contorted a bit, you don't need to change the standard.

For instance, when importing .doc or .docx documents, the import engine creates
many "anonymous" character styles to translate intra-paragraph formatting
because the concept does not exist in MS Office.

I'm wondering, for my case, if such a workaround could be possible, eventually
using mangled styles names to signal to LO Writer that the style has special
dynamic properties, e.g. adding some __ just like we have
_20_ to encode a space.

The idea is to make the special properties "transparent" or "neutral" if
document is opened with something different from LO Writer and fully processed
in an extended LO Writer.

In this strategy, the burden of handling the extra style properties is pushed
from ODF layer to LO Writer processing layer.

Tell me if that makes sense. I am fully aware that there is a considerable
distance from idea to implementation, though.

Also, I'm confident that ODF will evolve sooner or later (certainly rather
later) in the direction sketched, i.e. the possibility for character styles to
be context (paragraph) aware. "Toggling" is another issue because "toggle" is
difficult to define (what is "bold" for instance? You have many weights in a
single family. What is "italic"? You may have several slant angles.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98316] FORMATTING Dotted lines should really be dots and not short dashes

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 140801

paragraph with dotted border

The problem does not only exists for tables, but for other borders too.
Attached is a file, where the paragraph "2 paragraph dotted" should have a
'dotted' border. It is rendered in something more like a hatching than 'dots'.

The underlying specification of CSS2 has only the text "The border is a series
of dots." without saying what a "dot" is. The upcoming specification of CSS3 is
more accurate. It says "A series of round dots."

Open the attached file and export it to EPUB and open the result e.g. in
Microsoft Edge. You will see little circles.

Because all browsers and EPUB show round dots, I think it is time to make true
round dots in LibreOffice too. The current way is at least for wide borders far
away from "dot".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113479] TRACK CHANGES: Unneeded popup

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113479

Bug 116526, which was just marked as a duplicate of this bug, is mine. I don't
find this popup as annoying as JIM7 appears to, but I can confirm that it
continues to exist in Writer 6.0.2.1.

For anyone trying to duplicate this behavior, note that the popup is
conditioned on rRedlineTable.size() > MAX_REDLINE_COUNT, which is currently
defined to be 250 (see DocumentRedlineManager.cxx lines 2702-2722). I haven't
dug into the code enough to figure out what determines rRedlineTable.size(),
but it seems likely that it's a function of the number of distinct changes
recorded. As I noted in my bug report, the timing of the popup feels random in
a file with no recorded changes; it does not appear after the first change.

In my experience once the popup has appeared, opening a new file and setting
Track Changes on and Show Changes off results in the popup appearing at the
first change in the new file, even if the first file has been closed, so it
appears that the table size is persistent within a session.

Sure.

So, Chrisbath: you can create a separate report for each issue and enter 115805
into the "Blocks" field every time.

Use this link when you create them:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice

Click "Show Advanced Fields" so you can see the "Blocks" field (near the

Xisco, Sorry, but I don't have that version installed anymore.

I had to roll back and forward to test another bug, and in the process lost the
whole LO business and had to reload LO from scratch. ... So much has changed
in 4 months since this was reported.

I will attach snapshot of the 5.4.4.2 I have currently installed if that might
help.

I have been working to transition to 6x, but not fully there yet. ...

More recently, LO has been more stable for me. I think I have only seen one
such crash in the past month, but I also have not been doing as much
development on LO of late.

So perhaps something has been fixed somewhere. I'll keep you posted. Thank
you.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116549] New: FILESAVE export to DOCX does not write border style " none"

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116549

Bug ID: 116549
Summary: FILESAVE export to DOCX does not write border style
"none"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: filter:docx
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 140798
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=140798=edit
Document to test border

Open attached file. The paragraphs have paragraph styles assigned, which are
all based on the style "BorderBasis", which sets a 6pt orange, solid border.
The style "Border0none" sets the border style to "none". That is correctly
written in ODF as fo:border="none".

Save this file in .docx format, it does not matter whether strict OOXML or the
MS variant. It should write a w:pBdr element with child elements having
attribute w:val="none", but the w:pBdr element is empty.

Because the parent style has a border, it is necessary to set the border style
explicitly to "none".

You see the error, when you open the .docx file in Word or LibreOffice. The
paragraph 0 shows a border, but should not.

try to update your kernel, it can help

Update of Kernel Graphics Stack #

On openSUSE Leap 42.3, the upgrade of the graphics stack up to 4.9.x kernel
code is provided via the package drm-kmp-default instead of backporting many
patches into the kernel itself. Usually, this package is installed
automatically during the OS installation when a corresponding graphics device
is found on your machine.

The KMP gives users also another benefit: You can roll back to the 4.4.x kernel
code by uninstalling this package. If you face critical issues, like a hung
GPU, try to uninstall the package as shown below, then reboot and retest:

zypper rm drm-kmp-default

It has been there before. (OOo 3.3)
The images has 100% relative width. This should result in the full width of
it's surrounding frame but it is actually is the width of the paragraphs of the
page.

Just modify the page left/right margins before inserting the caption.

Since you didn't write about the data source: if it's a Calc sheet you can
construct the required string in an additional column.

And even if it is not it would probably be easier to generate a Calc sheet from
the data. Then you can manipulate the data in a way suitable for mail merge.

There is no way mail merge will ever remove commas between fields.
The only properties mail merge works with are fields and section visibility.
Anything more advanced has to be handled by some view in a database, where you
can use SQL to manipulate strings, or Calc functions to construct an additional
Calc sheet column.

If you succeed please close the ticket as WORKSFORME. I doubt that we have an
easy solution and IMHO it's not worth all the effort.

At one point I tried using hidden sections to suppress blank lines, as
suggested somewhere on-line, but as I recall I had trouble making it work. But
I did find that turning every line into a paragraph and then using hidden
paragraphs worked fine to suppress blank lines. In the case of a line that had
no data fields (because it was in a label after the last record) I could not
use that to suppress the line (paragraph) containing just static data (such as
the comma between city and state) -- presumably because that label was never
actually processed.

Thinking about your response I did realize one way to accomplish what I want.
Rather than putting static data (such as that comma between city and state) in
the master label, all I would need do is put a field for the comma in my
database, populating it with a comma in every record. I'm not sure if that
would be easier than simply editing the last page of the label document before
printing it, but at least I wouldn't have to remember to do it!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116547] New: Export of mathematical formula in Writer document to DOCX is displayed incorrectly in Word

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116547

Bug ID: 116547
Summary: Export of mathematical formula in Writer document to
DOCX is displayed incorrectly in Word
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ipla...@tuta.io

Description:
I had to create a series of mathematical formulae for a translation in a Writer
document (ODT) and then save the document as DOCX to pass on to a client.

When I opened the DOCX document in Word, I was surprised and understandably
rather annoyed to discover that the equations were no longer displayed as they
appeared in Writer.

I am enclosing a sample of the formulae as entered in Writer and as exported to
DOCX along with screenshots.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Writer document containing the formulae and sample text.
2. Save as DOCX.
3. Open in Word and compare the difference between the Writer document display
and the Word document display. Note how the lower limit of the sum symbol has
been displaced to right hand side of the sum symbol.

Actual Results:
Incorrect display of the equation when exported to docx.

Expected Results:
Identical display of the formulae both in Writer and Word.

Reproducible: Always

After reading http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr14/, I understood that more
detail on the context is needed. I still think that the observed line break
behaviour is buggy at least for the following codepoint combinations:

0064 200D 02DA (d ZWJ ˚) - no break should be allowed on any side of ZWJ
0067 200D 02F3 (g ZWJ ˳) - same
0077 200D 0237 (w ZWJ ȷ) - same

Not a duplicate. Bibisect confirmed my expectation that Miklos' fix for bug
105095 caused this. LO ALWAYS exports a tab, not only when the margin is
non-zero. However, it probably OUGHT to only export a tab when the margin is
non-zero since the tab's purpose is to emulate LO's alignment with the
paragraph margin.

A work-around is to ensure a tiny margin in the footnote paragraph style.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116545] New: exporting to PDF in Impress stretch one image for every slides/pages

2018-03-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116545

Bug ID: 116545
Summary: exporting to PDF in Impress stretch one image for
every slides/pages
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: newsf...@hotmail.com

Description:
HW+OS: this problem occurred with HP Omen x86, i5, 64 bit, windows 10, Impress
rev. 5.4.5.1 and 6.0.2
It's not a problem with older PC: x86, AMD 64 bit, win 7, Impress rev. 5.2.5.1

Exporting to PDF stretch or zoom one image in every page in the slide set. It
strange that there are only one stretched image in page/slide. No more than one
per page.
Size of image is as original, but inside of the "image border" the image is
stretched totally out of "borders". It is possible to see only 10-30% from
original image inside of the "image borders".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create normal Impress pages with several images (jpg) to every pages
2. save the file (file size 20-25 Mb)
3. export to PDF (changing any settings will not help)
4. open the PDF-file in Foxit Reader or any other PDF reader
5. one image of the any pages are stretched in PDF, not in original .odp-file

Actual Results:
One image of the any pages are stretched in PDF, not in original .odp-file

Expected Results:
PDF files should be look same as original files.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Tested with original file - no problems with older PC and older LibreOffice
(5.2.5.1). Problems occurred only with new PC and new LibreOffice (5.4.5.1 and
6.0.2)
