You can zip up your old config directory and attach it here. Maybe someone can
study it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116838] EDITING Not possible to edit chart from sidebar

2018-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116838

There may be two issues here:
1. Impossibility to edit chart (which I report here)
2. The lagging/overlap of UI elements. This second one seems to happen only
after I add the chart but if I click elsewhere and then subsequently select
Chart/Chart Area again, I cannot reproduce it.

I doubt that knowledgeable users would buy a monoblock in the first place,
like, it's not as flexible as PC, nor as portable as laptop. Those users would
be stuck with ancient drivers, and the fact I can personally force a newer
Intel driver to get installed won't help LibreOffice usability for the rest of
them.

No, that is not a correct understanding of the function of
"Diacritic-sensitive" or "Kashida-sensitive" transliteration for search within
LibreOffice.

There is a lot of overhead involved with transliteration(s) to ignore
diacritic/kashida and other CJK Unicode glyph conversions -- frankly any of
them kill search performance compared to a "sensitive" mode, i.e. with no
transliteration of text strings (see bug 115829 dup to bug 116242).

Setting default, and impact on other search/replace function, is going to be
more involved than just a question of locale and script in use--and per user
configuration of Tools -> Options -> Language support, and other settings on
the Find & Replace dialog.

No doubt it could be done by locale and script, but not clear there is a need
as now corrected defaults are reasonable.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Hi Telesto,
Thanks for checking the duplicate, I missed it.
What do you think, should we create a follow-up bug or reopen the duplicated
one?

Bug ID: 116837
Summary: Libreoffice spreadsheet NOT compatible with Microsoft
Office spreadheet
   Product: Impress Remote
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: General
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: goldv...@gmail.com

Description:
I use Libreoffice with Linux Mint 18.3. When I get a one page Microsoft *.xlsx
spreadsheet in landscape mode, Libreoffice will print the spreadsheet in 2 -4
portrait pages - I cannot print it as intended in one page Landscape!.
Annoying, I have to reboot Windows therefore, open MS Office to print it
correctly. How could you folks overlooked this major bug which is not at all
compatible with MS Office?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a MS Office spreadheet *.xlsx filled from edge to edge when it can only
be printed in Lanscape mode to fill one page
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Libreoffice will not default to lanscape as MS Office does and it garbles the
printing therefore

Expected Results:
UNPRITABLE RESULTS

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Since you say Libreoffice is compatible with MS Office, I expected the same
results from Libreoffice as from MS Office

This is a spin-off from bug 111846.

Eike Rathke wrote at bug 111846 comment #27:

Khaled Hosny wrote at bug 111846 comment #28:

As there are quite big differences in the expected behaviour of the letters
with diacritics/accents/dots/etc. also among languages that are written in
Latin script, could we have a per-language/locale default settings for the
"Diacritic-sensitive" search option?

For languages like English, French, German, etc., the "Diacritic-sensitive"
checkbox should be off by default, since ä, ö, ü, é/ê/è/ë etc. are considered
variations of the "base" letter in these languages (so a/ä, o/ö, etc. are also
collated together in dictionaries).

For languages like Estonian, Finnish, Icelandic, Swedish, Latvian, Hungarian,
Polish, etc., "Diacritic-sensitive" should be on by default, as there the
(native) letters with "diacritics" (ä, å, á, ā, etc.) are considered separate
letters in their own right, and therefore they shouldn't be ignored/merged with
"base" letter during searching, at least not by default. Some accented letters
that occur in loanwords or foreign names might be considered variations of the
base letter also in these languages - but that's no reason to default to
disabling diacritic-sensitivity. The default setting should reflect the most
common usage.

For languages like Lithuanian, it's probably better to also have
"Diacritic-sensitive" on by default: there, e.g. ą is considered independent
letter, while ã/à are considered variants of a (used mainly in dictionaries to
indicate stress/length).

I wasn't able to repro it in Safe mode. I also renamed my .config/libreoffice

also. My configuration is generic except some custom words and Lightproof,
which was even disabled along with Java. Anyway, I'm sort of curious to know
what about my config could be causing problems but if it's not something other
people will run into then it's no big deal.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115407] Impress loses transition sounds and sound instructions

2018-04-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115407

I submitted this patch for review:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/52476/

Now, it just deals with the simple case file saved with a system sound.

Have in mind that the odp file doesn't contain the sound file but just a link
to it.
So in this following case:
- on computer A, you create and save a brand new odp with a user sound
- on computer B, which doesn't contain user sound, you load the odp file
=> the dropbox can't display the sound name.

Now let's say, we should force to display the sound name in the display box.
However, obviously LO won't be able to play it if it's a user sound which
doesn't exist on the computer.
So it's not a solution.

Perhaps we should add the possibility to really save the sound file in the odp.
So if it's a link, we wouldn't force the dropbox otherwise we'd force it?
It gets a bit complicated...

In both cases the size of the image is kept, but the resolution is increased
from 96 to 300 dpi. This has to do with the use of the document.

Bildtest2.odt is openend emptily. In the upper part the jpg, in the lower the

Bildtest2. pdf is created by clicking on the pdf-button. It shows the lowest

   Summary: Metadata not deleted
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ga3893...@web.de

When using the "reset properties" button (File -> Properties) to remove
metadata from a document, the data disappears only until the document is
reopened and the information is not really removed.

This includes e.g. the creation date the modify date and the username of the
creator.

Please consider that leaking such data can be a critical privacy issue for
certain people and in certain countries. This is especially true if libreoffice
appear to have deleted such information when it did not.

This bug can be reproduced with any libreoffice document.

To reproduce, create a document save it, take a look at e.g. the creation date
and author, reset properties, save the document, close and reopen libreoffice
and look at the properties again.

Could we have a per-language/locale default settings for these two options
perhaps, regardless of how they are phrased? There are quite big differences in
the "status" of letters with diacritics (or "diacritics") also among languages
that are written in Latin script.

On the one side, there are languages like English, French, and German, where ä,
ö, ü, é/ê/è/ë etc. are considered variations of the "base" letter (so a/ä, o/ö,
etc. are also collated together in dictionaries).

On the other side are languages like Estonian, Finnish, Icelandic, Swedish,
Latvian, Hungarian, Polish, where ä, å, á, ā etc. are considered to be separate
letters in their own right, and therefore shouldn't be ignored/merged during
searching, at least not by default.

For instance in Estonian, treating a/ä, o/õ/ö, u/ü, s/š, z/ž as equivalent
makes almost* zero sense - when searching for either of the words in pairs like
laas/lääs, too/töö, loog/lõõg, sokk/šokk, the other one should not be matched.
Similar principle applies in the other languages I mentioned, so the current
default setting is completely counter-intuitive for many users.

* "Almost zero" because treating õ/ö as equal might make sense in historical
texts (but that's a rather marginal usecase), and treating z/ž as equal makes
some sense because z/ž could only ever be confused in loanwords and foreign
names, e.g. people might not know without a dictionary if the Croatian capital
is called Zagreb or Žagreb. But that's minutia.

...And then there are cases like Lithuanian, where ą is considered independent
letter, while ã/à are considered variants of a, and are mainly used in
dictionaries to indicate stress/length.

I'll open a new enhancement request about this.

Thanks Max! Great that you did that.
Unfortunately, this dump is not what we need - and I am sorry for not had
mentioned that from the start. We need soffice.bin dump, not soffice.exe.

As to two soffice.bin processes - that's unusual... unless it tries to
initialize user profile, in which case it should start the first one, then that
first should terminate with an exit code meaning "restart me", and then
soffice.exe starts the second soffice.bin.

soffice.exe dump made with procdump.

Is that dump good enough? Windows says that error occurs in soffice.bin, but
soffice.exe creates two soffice.bin processes, and procdump can dump only one
proc at a time.

weld native message dialogs
just the straight-forward MessageDialog cases first

a) remove border_width from message dialog .ui so as to take
the default border width
b) retain 12 as default message dialog border for vcl widget case
c) remove layour_style from message dialog button boxes so as to
take the default mode (a no-op for vcl widget case)
d) use gtk response ids (vcl builder will converts to vcl ones)
