[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 30731] Cursor behaviour with Graphite fonts
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30731 --- Comment #17 from RGB --- Problem still present 6.0.4.2. The behaviour can be seen not only with Graphite fonts, but with OpenType ones too. If you take a font with "alternate fractions", for example, like Sukhumala(1) and set the font as Sukhumala:afrc for the text "1/2" you'll see exactly the same behaviour when moving the cursor from right to left towards the fraction. -- (1) http://www.softerviews.org/Fonts.html#Sukhumala -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76131 --- Comment #26 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to John Page from comment #24) > I'm using Windows 10x64, and notice that the > updates take just as long to install as the original program did. Why > can't they be limited to ony the changes since the previous version, This part may be fixed by implementing the proposal in bug 117492. > and keeping > the user's preferences etc? While installing I'm forced to go through the > options list every time, instead of the previous options selection being > re-used, like most other apps. And this part of question is simply false. Current installer *does* read and keep the user preferences; it must reinstall the same components you've installed last time with previous version's installer. The process is that it reads the installed components state first; then shows you the UI, where the installed component state is honoured; then uninstall the previous installation fully; then installs the new version with those components that were either recorded from previous installation, or changed by user in the UI. (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #25) I don't know if there would be regressions implementing the said bug 117492 (of course, our famous last words are "I'm sure it will work!"); but *possibly* it could also fix this problem without any additional logic (because in that case, no uninstallation would take place, only removal of replaced/obsoleted files) - but I don't actually know enough on that matter. Failing that, the proper way would be implementing the jump lists API in our shell extension / program, and thus keep the data in the user profile (thus having no troubles with upgrades that don't affect it). Direct registry manipulation here isn't the most attractive way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

And? There is little dev interest in implementing this Windows installer code to tweak per user migration of Windows 7 Jump List entries (Start menu or Task bar). Especially as Windows 7 Jump Lists have been deprecated by Microsoft [1]. Even less appealing given the divergence of Microsoft's VS 2010 implementation in .NET and UWP flavors. Otherwise, LibreOffice's profile held history of recently used documents already migrates with the profile when upgrading and is supported in the Start Center GUI or menu list. > I'm using Windows 10x64, and notice that the > updates take just as long to install as the original program did. Why can't > they be limited to ony the changes since the previous version, and keeping > the user's preferences etc? While installing I'm forced to go through the > options list every time, instead of the previous options selection being > re-used, like most other apps. Maybe. See bug 68247 (and meta bug 54242) for progress on incremental updates (Linux & Windows), @Andras, Mike K.- while thinking about Windows installer rework for bug 117492--a "straw man" to ponder: is it worth the effort to add custom object logic to the installer--condition Installed and Patch--for an option to move / restore the Windows 7 Jump List items--outside (with our LO cache, logs?) our maybe inside our User profile? To be recorded back to Windows registry per newly (re)registered AppUserModelID and regenerating the Jump lists for items held per user now in: "/User//appData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/Recent Items" "/User//appData/Roaming/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/Taskbar" Or are we stuck as now that during the uninstalling we clobber the linkages and the pinned JumpLists are pruned? Rather seems the later remains reasonable handling and this becomes a clear =>WONTFIX by attrition. That is maintain the current implementation, but not invest dev effort to making its migration per user profile more robust. =-ref-= https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.shell.jumplist(v=vs.100).aspx Referenced Bugs: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113117 [Bug 113117] [META] Windows installer/uninstaller bugs and enhancements -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117682] LibreOffice Writer crashes saving .ott when changing a letter wizard template
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117682 --- Comment #1 from skierpage --- I retried after Help > Restart in Safe Mode and got the same crash. The crash happened when I tried other Formal letter page designs. It also happens if I choose to proceed with "Create a letter from this template" The document recovery window contents depend on what else I was doing in LO, it's not always "Untitled 2". I noticed that on the last step of the wizard there's a Location and file name field pre-filled with a grayed out "C:\users\spage\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\template\my (can't read the rest, maybe myLetter.ott?). I have a LibreOffice\4\user directory, but it has no "template" subdirectory. If I click the [...] button next to this and navigate to an existing directory and click [Save] (i.e. instead of clicking [Finish] in the Wizard) I get a crash. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85295] FILEOPEN: Import/preserve embedded fonts from pdf
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85295 LibreTraining changed: What|Removed |Added CC||libretraining.tutorials@gma ||il.com --- Comment #10 from LibreTraining --- (In reply to Michael Stahl from comment #9) > PDF does not embed fonts, it embeds those glyphs which are used. > > LibreOffice is an editing application and so importing only a subset > of a font is frustrating and useless in practice because you can't > edit the document to add letters that weren't used in the original PDF. PDFs can embed full and complete installable fonts. The fonts must have the embedding setting in the font set to Installable. For example, the Liberation and Noto fonts included with LO are Installable. The application creating the PDF must embed the entire font file. Adobe applications will not do this no matter if the font allows it. There is no reason why LibreOffice cannot be enabled to embed an entire font in a PDF when it is clearly allowed by the font creator. The application reading the PDF must support installing the embedded font file. Some PDF readers will install the embedded fonts. Again, there is no reason why LibreOffice when importing a PDF cannot be enabled to install embedded fonts when the fonts are properly embedded, and the font allows it. The font sub-setting that goes on is either caused by the fonts' internal embedding settings restrictions, and/or the application doing the PDF creation and font embedding either restricts it or cannot do it. Sometimes the font sub-setting is a user option setting which is designed to minimize the size of the PDF. Just like ODT files with embedded fonts, PDF files with embedded full font files can be quite large. So this is possible. It is not a limitation of the PDF format. It is a limitation of LibreOffice. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117674 Bug ID: 117674 Summary: 'New' and 'Open' icons (both in Launcher sidebar and drop down menus) are in High Contrast mode and glitchy. Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: berg...@gmail.com The 'New' and 'Open' icons display as though the icons are set to High Contrast mode, even when the rest of the icons are fine. The 'New' and 'Open' icons also look glitchy. This problem appears in the LibreOffice "Launcher" sidebar, and in the drop down menus, but only appears to affect the 'New' and 'Open' icons. This problem has been present since LibreOffice 6.0, and is happening on three systems I own, all running Windows 10 64-bit. The icons in question function normally, but it really detracts from the UI, and uninstalling and reinstalling LibreOffice does not fix the issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117672] New: Make default column type 'Text' when importing CSVs, or warn of data modification
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117672 Bug ID: 117672 Summary: Make default column type 'Text' when importing CSVs, or warn of data modification Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.4.2 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: totalmassret...@gmail.com Description: With the default CSV import settings, column types are set to 'Standard.' This means that columns that contain very long numbers (such as serial numbers) get converted to notation, which can result in data loss due to rounding. The principal of least surprise would indicate that, if I open a CSV, LibreOffice will not make changes to it that I haven't explicitly requested. CSVs do not have a concept of data types -- every field in a CSV is 'text'. If LibreOffice tries to infer meaning based on the content of these text fields, it will get it wrong some of the time, resulting in unexpected behaviour. The current solution is to select all the cells in the CSV import window and change 'Standard' to 'Text.' Since all of the data in a CSV is text, I would argue that making 'Text' the default column type is more correct and would result in less unexpected behaviour, at least for the use cases I have in mind (opening a CSV, making a minor modification, saving and closing it.) If it is felt that the current behaviour is preferable for most of your users, an alternative solution would be to provide the user with some warning that LibreOffice is about to modify your data. This could take the form of a dialogue box that appears after you click 'OK' in the Text Import window. This new dialogue box could feature a Cancel button, allowing a user to go back to the Text Import window and change their settings, and could perhaps include a recommendation that the user change their column types to 'Text' if they don't want LibreOffice to modify their data. Silently changing data by default is the wrong behaviour, in my opinion. Imagine a user working with a large sheet that has long numbers in column Z that don't immediately appear on screen and aren't relevant to the user, so they probably won't bother looking at them. They make their changes to the cells that are relevant to them (say column A or B,) save and send the csv around to their colleagues, never realizing that LibreOffice has modified part their data. Now they look silly because they didn't predict LO's default behaviour. Or they try to import it into the database using column Z (pretend they're serial numbers) as a key. If those serial numbers are actually serial, the same record might get updated repeatedly due to the rounding. Or some records with sufficiently similar keys might get updated multiple times. Or something else -- at this point we are well in to the realm of unexpected, implementation-specific behaviour. Far better just to not make changes when they aren't asked for. Or at least warn when LO is about to make those changes so the user can prevent it from doing so by changing the import settings. Steps to Reproduce: 1.echo 12345678901234567890 > test.csv 2.vi test.csv -- notice the number, as echoed 3.open test.csv in lo calc using the default settings 4.save test.csv 5.vi test.csv -- notice that the number has changed, despite not having explicitly done anything to the file and despite receiving no warning that my csv file will essentially be corrupted if I save Actual Results: The cell has been changed to 1.23456789012346E+019 Expected Results: The cell should appear as 12345678901234567890 Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.0.4.2 Build ID: 6.0.4-1 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.16; UI render: default; VCL: kde4; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117049] Severe bug in LibreOffice (Calc Speadsheet)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117049 --- Comment #7 from sarti_ca...@yahoo.com --- Mike Kaganski, I think you don't understand what I write. 1) I write "please, look at my bug #117279, closed by JB Faure, where I better explained the problem (with an attached file). 2) If it is possible set the iterations number at 1, why I can't do it? Setting it to 1 means to do 1 loop (it isn't possible to set it at 0). If you do two loop, this is an error. Using the suggested value (100), to do 100 or 101 is not important. If necessary, I can copy my bug #117279. I do not agree about bug 117049 was marked as duplicate of 114482 (referred e:523). It is impossible to speak about e:523 (convergence problems) if I have not this message. The default setting are related to make many iterations to reduce the error smaller than a prefixxed value. I want make "AN ONLY" iterations. For this, the considerations done by Mike Kaganski are not valid. I put below the steps to reproduce the problem (wrong data in calculation). I would attach a my file, but I do not see, in this page, the key "Add an attachment" enabled. I hope it is in the next one (after "Submit Bug Report"). If I will not be able to add it, you will not can to use it, but the following considerations are valid. My program calculate my economic balance. I have ATTIVO/PASSIVO (CREDIT/DEBIT) at the beginning year: I put the data with the last results of previous year. I have ATTIVO/PASSIVO, at the current date. The ATTIVO/PASSIVO are equal the initials vaiues +/- ENTRATE/USCITE (INCOMES/EXPENDITURES). The ENTRATE/USCITE (from C23 and E23 and following rows) are obtained as the couple as A1 and B1 (see below in "Steps to Reproduce"). If I use my program for commercial purposes (naturally suitable modified to satisfy the complete rules of Economic balance), I would go in prison. My program well works in Excel (that I have not, but that I tested with it) and in Softmaker (PlanMaker). >From this site, I downloaded a free version for Windows an another for Linux; I received, by mail, two license numbers. In Excel and in PlanMaker I have correct results; with LibreOffice (Calc Speadsheet) I have wrong results. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open LibreOffice. 2. Open Calc Spredsheet (main page). 3. Click on Tools to open the drop down menu. 4. Select Options. 5. Open LibreOffice Calc 6. Open Calculate. 7. Check Iterative References 8. Set Steps (first parameter in Iterations) at 1 (minimum value). 9. Set Minimun Change (second parameter in Iterations) at 100 (a very high value, this is MANDATORY not to have e:523). 10. Click on OK. 11. Return to Calc Spredsheet (10th step). 12. Put 0 in A1 and B1. 13. From B1, write in the Insertion cell (referred to B1) =A1+B1. 14. If you obtain the message #VALUE!, you can use my trick: repeat 3td ÷ 11th step, adding some clicks on conditions for General Calculations (the message #VALUE! can be considered a little bug), instead of doing change for 8th and 9th step. 15. With 0 in A1 and B1, put 100 in A1, then ENTER; then put 0 in A1 and finally ENTER. Actual Results: The result in B1 (wrong) is B1=A1+B1=100*2+0=200 (per first input) and B1=0*2+200=200 (for the second input). Expected Results: The result in B1 must be B1=A1+B1=100+0=100 (per first input) and B1=0+100=100 (for the second input). A value in A1 is added/subtracted (depending on positive/negative value) in B1 (value updated). You are ready for a new other input. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117446] Firebird: Migration: LibO hangs with data type Binary[ VARBINARY] OR Binary(fix)[BINARY] AND image data in hsql database
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117446 --- Comment #9 from Drew Jensen --- I created the test file with huge values for those columns 2 Million bytes. HSQL embedded in Base works just fine with that. The images were 20 K and 32 K in size, added by linking an image control in a form to them and using that to insert the image. The forms work as expected with the data and reports work with it also. The reason for a 20k and a 32K file was that I thought Firebird was going to impose a 32K limit for the fixed field. My plan was to first test the migration function with empty tables (seemed to pass) then with this data that would fit into FB and when this passes a test migration , check for error handling when the data exceeds the FB imposed limits. As for the 8000 byte limit, IIRC, that is for if you want to index that column or if you are using a character set that supports collating. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98306] Calc crashes instantly when saving .ods-File als MS Excel 2003 XML ( macOS only)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98306 --- Comment #17 from Tor Lillqvist --- FYI: In the master branch (which will become LIbreOffice 6.1) the support for the "Excel 2003 XML" format has been overhauled greatly. See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.1#Improvements_to_Excel_2003_XML_import . Although that mentions import only, and in fact in a current master build "Excel 2003 XML" is not eve offered as a format to export to. I don't know if that is accidental or intentional. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
