** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Well, in the past I used to print product labels on a single wide label printer
for ceramics shipment. In that case it also had an image for scanning and text,
what I did is used a base form, which is just a writer file and laid it up in
print view. Feed the form from a query with results for the print run, walked
down the result set, while print the form for each record. Sounds close to what
you want to do.

Bug ID: 119223
Summary: FILESAVE Custom shape names are replaced by generic
names on export to pptx
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 144119
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=144119&action=edit
File to reproduce the loss of names on export

Open attached file and open the Navigator. Notice, that all shapes have custom
names.
Export it to pptx.
Open the exported file and open the Navigator. Notice, that the shapes have got
generic names.

Besides the loss of information it is a severe problem, that the shapes on
different slides have got the same generic name. That makes it impossible to
select a shape by double click in the Navigator. Try to select e.g.
"CustomShape 2" from Slide 2 via Navigator.

PowerPoint is able to handle custom names of shapes. Therefore the names, which
the user has chosen, should be used in export.

> Debug: are you happy with this answer?

Not especially. Base reports don't allow page size restrictions in the same way
that Documents does. That is to say I am trying to print out on an industrial
label printer and it will not let me set zero margins nor let me make sure the
text lines are x far apart to fit in constricted space.

As it is not I have to print the Document as a PDF form and let people fill out
what they need by hand before printing out.

Not ideal.

Colored Fontwork to test export

Enter a Fontwork in Impress or Calc with filled characters with outline. Save
the file in the corresponding MS Office format. Reopen the exported file or
open it in MS Office.
The outline of the character becomes a shape border line, the fill color of the
characters are lost and the characters are black.

If you open the original files in MS Office and export it there to pptx or xlsx
respectively, MS Office converts it so, that the characters look the same. We
should do the same, to get a good user experience.

[BTW, using the Fontwork in Writer results in the correct character fill and
outline. But the size of the shape is wrong.]

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119219] New: For Japanese vertical writing, the first word's candidate list obscures the text.

2018-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119219

Bug ID: 119219
Summary: For Japanese vertical writing, the first word's
candidate list obscures the text.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: typing...@gmail.com

I am not entirely sure if this is a bug of Microsoft Japanese IME or Writer,
but since this happens with only the first word, I guessed it may be Writer's
bug.

*Steps to reproduce
1. Go to Format -> Page -> Page
2. Set Text direction to Right-to-left (vertical).
3. Type some Japanese text using Windows' in-built Japanese IME.

For words other than the first word of a line, the candidate list (press the
spacebar) is displayed to the left of the current line, so what you are typing
is not obscured.

But for the first word of a line, the candidate list is displayed above the
characters being typed, so you cannot see what is being typed. The candidate
list first pops up to the right of the character, but immediately jumps to the
left obscuring the characters.

@Aron,

Your screen clip shows issues both with line formatting--but more so with font
fallback--which seems the issue here and makes sense as Liberation Mono has
limited coverage of CJK. And, font fallback got major rework 5.2 -> 5.3 with
implementation of more DirectWrite use with HarfBuzz.

Believe the "Text" import defaults to using the "Preformatted Text" style form
default template and is assigned Liberation Mono.

When I open this, if I choose the GB-18030 encoding and a CJK friendly font
other than Liberation Mono--which has limited coverage of the glyphs needed for
correct layout--e.g. NSimSun, no issues with fallback or line formatting.

On import believe empty paragraphs/crlf--those with no GB-10830 glyphs--are
picked up in the UI local as set. So in an en-US local, I get a mix of Asian -
Chinese (simplified) paragraphs and Western - Default English (USA).

IMHO this seems correct, but a CJK user would need to confirm the system local
is picked up as the Default for empty paragraphs.

Perhaps retest and adjust the font for the import?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119096] Error Display Chinese file

 Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME

Yes, the GB-2312/GB-18030 must be opened using the file format "Text - Choose
Encoding (*.txt)", and from that dialog select appropriate Character set
(Chinese Simplified GB-18030 in this case), and Language (if not picked up from
user locale).

If the OS provided file management does not allow selection of the text import
filter type--then set to "false" the "UseSystemFileDialog" stanza (found in
Tools -> Options -> Advanced: Expert Configuration dialog)--and use the
LibreOffice file dialog to make the GB-18030 text filter selection.

Question might be if a properly set user local should pick up text
encoding--but then is GB-2312/GB-18030 a proper "default" for simplified
Chinese use locals?

this is a weirdly designed document. The entire first page is an autoshape set
as behind text (background/wrap through. The only reason Word displays it this
way is because there is a section break/next page. My guess is that the root
cause is related to an empty paragraph getting removed (nope - not bRemove) or
a section break problem.

For anyone having this problem on Windows, you can simply disable cache as a
hack-fix:

1) delete everything in %appdata%\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\cache
2) go to Properties -> Security -> Advanced for the cache folder, disable
Inheritance.
3) remove all permissions from your own username from the cache folder.

Then wait until someone with the programming skills actually fixes this bug.

A simple document you can use to test this bug.

In the old version of Word 2003, the option to add a comment to footnote text
is disabled. So are comments even allowed in a footnote in docx?

tdf#118555 fix HFONT fallback handing / lifecycle
Instead of storing the never changing DC in the WinFontInstance
store the HFONT, which is Windows logical font instance.

Then set the correct HFONT instance from the layout when rendering
its text.

This also changes the HFONT ownership and lifecycle. The HFONT
is moved from the mhFonts to the WinFontInstance, if available,
so it has a proper referenced lifecycle. The mhFonts is still
needed, as embedded font just supply an HFONT and no
WinFontInstance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119215] New: Updating causes taskbar icon to cease working

2018-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119215

Bug ID: 119215
Summary: Updating causes taskbar icon to cease working
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@johnpage.co.uk

Description:
Due to having to uninstall Libre Office before installing an update, the
taskbar icons previously created cease working. As r-clicking the icons reveal
a list of recent documents, that list is lost. It is available from the file
menu, but that's not as convenient as having it on the taskbar. Building that
list again takes time only to be eliminated at the next update.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a taskbar icon from start menu
2.Run a n update
3.

Actual Results:
Covered in description above

Expected Results:
Retaining the taskbar icons with their recent file lists would be good

Reproducible: Always

If Libre Office is simply "updated" as other major apps instead of being
uninstalled and re-installed, this convenience feature could be retained.

exposed another problem than caused a regression. The first table IS supposed
to be a floating table as mentioned in comment 4.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81522] FILESAVE: can't save .docx after deleting header or footer

2018-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81522

Some bad information in the previous comment.

The debug messages didn't come at the time of saving, but at the time of
deleting (and also during file open.).

Also, the I/O error can also be triggered by *creating* a header after deleting
the chart. And probably many other actions can trigger as well.

Demo-Hayden-Management-minimal.docx : reduced to chart and footer

confirmed that the LO 4.2 commit identified in comment 4 matches my own
bibisect using the minimal example.

However, this is also the first time the OLE object shows up as well, so before
there was nothing to "delete" since the document was empty. So not really a
regression, just exposing another bug (unless simply handling the OLE object
was done improperly).

Note that simply deleting the chart itself allows the save to occur. Something
else needs to be deleted (?afterwards?) to trigger the error.

debugging output produces the following after the footer is also deleted.
warn:chart2:25477:25477:chart2/source/tools/LifeTime.cxx:122: This component is
already disposed
warn:svl.items:25477:25477:svl/source/items/itempool.cxx:398: old secondary

Interestingly in the bibisect repo this was related to a Noto font update in
6.1:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=e45e2c4897933f14c90a65fa74d0ad2a0b620ede

However, in the dialog I didn't change the language, only the character set.
Setting the language to Chinese (simplified) as well produces correct-looking
document. Should that be needed, though? (I admit not setting both doesn't make
a lot of sence)
