2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 119754
Summary: Save as & PDF export no longer uses current doc
location as starting point
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.3 release

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cputt...@gmail.com

Since v6.05 or close, document "save as" and PDF export fail to use current doc
location as the starting point, reverting to user home directory as a starting
point.

I noticed this change ~2 months ago, but put it down to a blip as I use
Tumbleweed. However it has persisted through several update cycles and is still
present in LO 6.1.0.3. Cannot confirm which version the bug arrived in but see
comment linked below referencing 6.0.5; this matches, give or take, the release
history of LibreOffice in Tumbleweed i.e. I'd look there for the regression.

The Text Formatting toolbar is "contextual" and contextsensitive, such that
when the text in a Draw Text Box does not have focus--the toolbar will close.
That is the correct UI behavior of a contextsensitive control.

Valid enhancement to be able to selectively pin contextsensitive toolbar
visible (that is the see also bug 103240) otherwise this is a duplicate of bug

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118884] Unary/Binary Operators glyph rendering initially misplaced

2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118884

And https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/60092/ is just cleanup patch to get rid
of a now duplicated HFONT life-cycle management. The original version had a
bug. I couldn't debug it, because of a memory corruption unrelated to my patch,
with very "funny" failing assertions.

That resulted in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/60162/. I just found two
occurrences directly related to my failing unit test, but some grep found more
and reviewing more code around the first hits revealed a lot more.

And this is just the result from a straight-forward grep over the code base.
Who knows how many of these std:unique_ptr<...[]> array delete[] bugs are still
there undetected. I'm just wondering why none of our static analysis
tool-chains caught these earlier... build without online-updater?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118884] Unary/Binary Operators glyph rendering initially misplaced

2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118884

The primary fix is https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/60091/. I'm not sure why
the old code was working at all.

The problem was the completely ignored nFallbackLevel of the glyphs.

For the rendering of the symbols, we do

1. set fallback 0 font OpenSymbol
2. set current scale factor to font 0
3. we render the glyphs to the cache

1. sets fallback 1 some normal font, as we can't render normal text with the
Symbol font
2. set current scale factor to font 1

now we ask for the glyph bounding boxes of our symbols

The old code was wrong here, as it
1. used the wrong "current scale"
2. ignored the fallback level of the glyphs

This is why the glyph were rendered correct, but overlapping, because the
non-Symbol fonts characters with the same glyph id are overall not so width.

Sometimes you were able to get the correct symbol rendered in the math window,
but when you moved the cursor in the editor to the different parts of the
formular, you could see the highlight frame was smaller then the glyph.
Took me a while to figure all this out...

This global "current scale factor" was always wrong. Probably before we were
lucky and didn't get a fallback font. I don't know.

So the patch moves the scaling factor to the font object, where it belongs - no
more global var.
And now, when we ask for the glyph bounding boxes, we check for the glyphs'
fallback level, eventually change the font and use the correct scaling to get
the correct bounding box.

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/60093/ might also be a fix. Font lookup
depends on the SalGraphics in strange way and not just the HDC (look at
ImplDoSetFont). At least this moves the real lookup into the
LogicalFontInstance, where it belongs.

We would need a verbose installation log. And, as LibreOffice installation on
Widnows requires changes to the registry and installation of fonts to the
Windows system folders--it *must* be "run as administrator" with UAC
acknowledgement.

To capture logging, run the installation from an Administrator CMD window or
PowerShell window.

The use the command line to do the install:

"msiexec.exe /i LibreOffice_6.1.0.3_Win_x64.msi /L*v lo610installLog.txt"

if you still have issues with permissions or with the install, ZIP up the log
and post it.

If you can not, please close this issue, as there is nothing actionable
currently.

Selecting a word at end of paragraph and applying highlighting from Standard

Selecting some of the text run and from context menu Character dialog ->
Highlighting apply none to remove the direct formatting, adding additional text
to the highlighted run continues it and spaces *are* highlighted. Deleting the
space back to the direct formatted highlighted run and adding a space back does
not pick up the DF.

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119753] New: Highlighted text magically expands to new text without warning

2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119753

Bug ID: 119753
Summary: Highlighted text magically expands to new text without
warning
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: myusualnickn...@gmail.com

Description:
At the end of a paragraph, I highlighted a word.

I then hit space, and the highlighting did not apply to the space, I then wrote
more... and the highlighting jumped from the previous word to the new word that
I was writing... This might be OK if the space had been highlighted.. but it
wasn't... there was a clear communication from libreoffice that I was no longer
in highlighted text... and it's not ok that it highlighted what I wrote after
because I would have done an action to turn it off...

So the space needs to be properly highlighted to indicate what is going to
happen. I expected it to not be highlighted and my next word to not be
highlighted... but I'm also ok with it being highlighted and me doing
something to turn off highlighting... Of note, I had the word selected when I
made it be highlighted, which makes me expect it to not apply to the space
coming after it... If I had clicked the button, then written the word, I would
expect to click the button to end the highlight...

Steps to Reproduce:
1.See above
2.

if I select text to apply formatting to, ONLY that text should have fomatting
applied to it... the text typed after should not have the formatting

But really this is about the space that came after it... It's not special..
It should be treated like any other character.. It is so infuriating to have
the computer tell me one behavior is occurring, then have it switch behavior
afterwards.. that is the real bug.

Hi I need feedback for Name and Description items in Context menu.

Name Description in writer context menu
- graphic not available
- draw available
- media available
- oleobject available
- form available

>From my point of view Name and Descriptions should be available for all the
objects or for none.

Description
- graphic, draw, media, oleobject, form for ALL apps available

Name
- graphic, draw, media, oleobject, form for Draw available
- form for ALL apps available
other area Name isn't needed cause it's only needed to separate stuff in the
navigator.

Did I miss something

Transformations is still available in draw and impress. Where rotate is also

Rotate and Flip is already available in writer for graphic context menu.

But the "Fields" and "Column type" preview panel has *always* been interactive
(inherited from OOo) the current help (master/6.2) for the dialog is available
here:

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.2/en-US/text/shared/00/0208.html?System=WIN=CALC#bm_id3155934

Don't see much need for a "tool-tip" that a mouse over and context menu
provides.

No, Excel's Text Import Wizard also goes interactive, allowing to set
General-Text-Date-or Skip, in its final steps. The OOo/LibreOffice UI is much
more direct.

Contextmenu Media for Writer, Calc, Draw and Impress V3

>> Missing Description and Name (both IMHO are better without ellipsis)

Description for a11y is available in any other object context menu in writer
excl. form. So have it all the time or none.

>>I wonder what's under Convert (regarding it's media, ie. an audio/video file).

good point removed. It didn't work anyway.

>>No Align for Word/Calc is hard to explain when you keep it on the other
>>modules.

good point added, but didn't work maybe someone can fix that align is available
for media context.

>>Similar for Group- why do you remove it?

wasn't removed it's not in a subgroup so it will be shown ONLY when you select
more than one media file.

>>We had a discussion about "Insert Caption..." though not about media but
>>images.

Add Caption in writer work really well and it's a 100% context related action
So I add Insert Caption to ALL objects.

Thanks for the feedback. The issue is that view grid lines are an "visible"
thing it change how the tab will look like it "hide" the grid. Hide sheet is
also kind of "visible" option it hide the sheet.

Do you have an better idea for grouping cause the main issue is, that I don't
want to have groups with only one item.

Table with issues

I played around with this issue to see if I could figure out the cause of the
problem. I believe that it is related to columns without data surrounded by
columns with data (see the attached example). With this smaller, randomly
generated dataset, I am unable to get Calc to consume all memory as I initially
reported. However, if you select all cells (clicking the blank spot between
row 1 and column A) and attempt to insert a figure, Calc does not produce the
figure as expected. However, if the selection is limited to A1:Y1000 (the
randomly generated data), the figure is produced as expected (see the figure in
the tab with the same name).

If I were to add more columns I might be able to get Calc to consume all
memory, but I think this example will be enough to demonstrate the issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43107] Regular expression "\n" in replace field inputs "\n" instead of line(paragraph?) break

It does. Did you test and see what happens?

> text on line oneAnd this on line too
>
> Unzip a Writer file with a 'new line', and you see:
> This is line oneand this is
> line two

This isn't relevant to whether this is a bug. What's relevant is what the user
actually sees/experiences. Which is a newline. Which is *also* what's in the
docs: https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Inserting_Line_Breaks_in_Cells

> So, although the Calc cell UI does not know the paragraph concept, the xml
> file does.

Unless it's a fundamental limitation of ODS, this is also irrelevant in terms
of this being a bug, and just means there is separate bug with saving to ODS.
Even in the case of a fundamental limitation of the format, it doesn't negate
this bug; it might make it CANTFIX at most.

how the outcome when you tried differed from my description.

Covered above. Ctrl-Enter = line break per docs. Displays as line break. User
wants a line break. Document saving bugs are irrelevant, unless they're the
*cause* of this bug. A "not found" would be adding another effective bug (in
terms of intended/documented behaviour) to align with other buggy behaviour
elsewhere.

>
> So bugs/problems are:
> - a 'new line' in Calc text cells, produces a new paragraph;

Separate bug re. ODS and maybe internal state.

Additionally, the *find* part works fine. The *replace* part is this bug.

> - it makes sense that, since Shift+Enter does the opposite of Enter,
>Ctrl+Enter is used for the line break (new line/paragraph)

It effectively does now (user experience/documentation). Again, nothing to do
with this bug, which is about *replacement*.

> - maybe it should really create a line break?

Not directly relevant, might be a dependency for this bug - see above.

> - Find & Replace should either report: no new lines found; or behave
> different in Calc text, handling paragraphs as if it were line breaks;

Or Ctrl-Enter should just actually insert a line break per the docs - possibly
a separate bug. Again, this bug is about *replacement* being literal \n instead
of an (effectively) line break.

> - documentation is not clear/complete.

Possibly, but tangential.

Seems related to
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=d6fce54c82868b82bd6fa190db6047d69bbb3ecf

Lionel: reading comment of the commit, why don't we match 2) with 1) and so
display only driver/datasource properties supported?

In my case if "End text lines with CR+LF" doesn't stay enabled after having
checked the option on my hsqldb embedded database, I suppose it's because
hsqldb embedded database doesn't support it. So what's the interest to display
the option?

Reading
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a29d97e6ddab8ec002ba9827bd5fc874117712e0,
I wonder if
connectivity/registry/hsqldb/org/openoffice/Office/DataAccess/Drivers.xcu
should be changed to replace "Features" by "Properties"

Now about reporter's case and JDBC, I noticed that ParameterNameSubstitution
was in Features part. What about putting it a ParameterNameSubstitution block
in Properties part but with false value by default?

More simply shouldn't we remove getFeatures and just keep getProperties?
+ some cleanup in Drivers.xcu files

There is more. Who says Ctrl+Enter creates a new line in a Calc text cell?

Unzip a Calc file with a 'new line', and you see:
text on line oneAnd this on line too

Unzip a Writer file with a 'new line', and you see:
This is line oneand this is
line two

So, although the Calc cell UI does not know the paragraph concept, the xml file
does.
Thus the question still stands: what are the bugs, and/or not yet implemented
features? (see below)

They don't - hence my request ;)

No doubt that I agree, that one would expect that Find & Replace replaces 'line
breaks'. In any case, in there is no line break, a result 'not found' would be
more appropriate.

So bugs/problems are:
- a 'new line' in Calc text cells, produces a new paragraph;
  - it makes sense that, since Shift+Enter does the opposite of Enter,
Ctrl+Enter is used for the line break (new line/paragraph)
  - maybe it should really create a line break?
- Find & Replace should either report: no new lines found; or behave different
in Calc text, handling paragraphs as if it were line breaks;
- documentation is not clear/complete.

Interesting that the replication of this file does not occur in the LODev files

There is however 500 Mb in the temp file that is probably unnecessary?

Some small text that tells the user that the columns below are interactive

2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118639

The saga continues. Noticing that LO was getting a little sluggish I went back
to the user support files and sure enough, the backup directory was full of
zero byte copies of my protected file (140,000). I deleted them and then was
able to watch them being re-created in batches of 3.

I also noticed a file name flash in the adjacent finder window - it appears
every 30 seconds or so and is hard to read as it's only there for a split
second. I started a screen record and managed to catch it and then took a
screen shot (attached - iYNegh). The file name is always different but of the
same style - 6 alpha-numeric characters.

An incidental finding is that the user directory contained about 850 Mb of
files - so I hunted down the source and found that is was in 'temp' files. 200
Mb in the user and in user-old/temp another 600 Mb. Should these files
self-delete if they are 'temps'? Can I safely delete them?

I suppose you haven't installed included font. Included font have anchors to
specify combining position. The problem is if we have text with normal
character and combining character in span, then LO shows combination of two
characters as if there were no anchors. If font doesn't have anchors in tested
character combination you won't see the difference.

Yep, gtk3 takes 8 secs for me while gen and gtk2 take a bit over 3 secs.

No idea where those 1 min+ times are coming from. Gorka: you should do a
separate test by launching in safe mode, from terminal with 'libreoffice
--safe-mode' or Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode.

PDF Output tested with LO 6.0.6 (issue still exists)

@Cor Nouws : Thanks for looking into this bug. With LO 6.0.6 I still encounter
the issue, please see attached PDF (sorry, I don't have a newer LO version
here).

Steps to reproduce:
1) select the new "in margins" in tools->options->writer->print and
2) on export to pdf they will be in the margins of the scaled content

Could you try these steps with 6.2alpha?

LO version:
Version: 6.0.6.2
Build-ID: 1:6.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Linux 4.4; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2;
Gebietsschema: en-GB (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

It appears we are both running into some profile b0rkenness: I was able to
repro on Linux. Then I tried on Win, but nope. Then --safe-mode on Linux and no
repro.
So plz test with safe mode and hopefully we can close.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119749] New: FILESAVE: xlsx files with "freeze panes" cause an error in MS Office if saved in CODE

2018-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119749

Bug ID: 119749
Summary: FILESAVE: xlsx files with "freeze panes" cause an
error in MS Office if saved in CODE
   Product: LibreOffice Online
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cputt...@gmail.com

Reported (in excellent detail) by a user trialling CODE (bug also present in
Collabora Online):

XLSX files opened and saved (with or without an edit) and then opened in Excel
gives

"We found a problem with some content in filename. Do you want us to recover as
much as we can?"

Using the repair function the detail reported is

"Excel completed file level validation and repair. Some parts of this workbook
may have been repaired or discarded. Removed Feature: View from
/xl/worksheets/sheet2.xml part"

The Collabora Online demo reproduces the same error with these files.

The user continued testing after initial report and noticed the connection with
"freeze panes" function. The same files that resulted in the error after being
use in CODE did not generate any error if "freeze panes" was turned off before
being opened and saved in CODE.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43107] Regular expression "\n" in replace field inputs "\n" instead of paragraph break

> Help reads: : "\n is for line end entered with Shft+Enter"

(for anyone else reading - the help page by clicking Help on the search/replace
window and clicking "List of Regular Expressions")

This is a documentation bug. This refers to Writer only, not Calc.

In *Writer*, creates a "Paragraph break", whereas
creates a "line break". Search/replace works as per the "List of Regular
Expressions" docs in Writer, specifically:

> \n
> Represents a line break that was inserted with the Shift+Enter key
> combination. To change a line break into a paragraph break, enter \n in the
> Find and Replace boxes, and then perform a search and replace.
> \n in the Find text box stands for a line break that was inserted with the
> Shift+Enter key combination.
> \n in the Replace text box stands for a paragraph break that can be entered
> with the Enter or Return key.

> Hence I do not have a file to test this exactly..

The steps I listed result in a doc to test this.

> behavior was the same in version 3.3.0 and is in OpenOffice.
> So, is this really a bug, or something that behaves different than expected??

It's a bug. The content of "replace" should be interpreted as a regex (i.e. \n
should be interpreted as a newline, not a literal string). It may well have
always been a bug in Open/LibreOffice.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114773] TOC: Remove additional space after chapter number in ToC

> So update summary of this issue?

The extra space always appears between the automatic number generated by Writer
(as set by list or outline/chapter numbering) and the author-entered contents
that follows. So if you have the punctuation input automatically by Writer, the
extra space appears after that punctuation (e.g. "2. blahblah" > note that
there are two spaces before blahblah); if you have the punctuation entered by
the document's author, then the extra space appears before that punctuation
(e.g. "2 . blahblah").

Does this clarify the issue?

You can't reproduce?

Steps:

* Create a blank sheet
* Double-click on a cell to inline-edit it
* Enter two-line content (e.g. "first line", -, "last line") and
hit
* Open find/replace (Ctrl-H)
* Expand "other options" and tick "regular expressions"
* In find, enter "\n" without quotation marks
* In replace, enter "\nmiddle line\n"
* Click "Replace all"

Expected:

* Cell contains three lines: "first line", "middle line", "last line"

Actual:

* Cell contains one line: "first line\nmiddle line\nlast line" (literal string)
