[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119970] New: The auto-save feature jumps the page.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119970 Bug ID: 119970 Summary: The auto-save feature jumps the page. Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1 all versions Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: keith.gruba...@aol.com Description: This is may be a bug or it may be something that was programmed on purpose, but either way it's the most annoying problem I face. It is the only problem I have with this software. In Writer (the only one I use) I write novels, and sometimes I scroll back to a previous page, looking for something. But when the program auto-saves, it jumps back to where the cursor is. I lose the place I was looking for and have to find it again. This is beyond frustrating (especially when you have 200+ pages of work). Is there a way to add a switch so that this feature is optional? I would much appreciate it if it didn't jump around every three minutes because it makes it that much more difficult to do my work. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Ensure auto-save is on. 2. Have multiple pages in a document. 3. Put cursor on any page other than the one you're on. Actual Results: The page jumps to wherever the cursor is upon auto-save. Expected Results: It should stay wherever you are, regardless of where the cursor is. Would respectfully suggest something similar to the 'always save a backup copy' function in Tools>Options/Load/Save. Suggest having an option to 'Always save a pdf copy next to original.' This would save a lot of clicking and navigating around directories whenever a user wishes to save a pdf version of their text file. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Work in directory (A) 2. Move to directory (B) 3. Wish to save text file as pdf in directory (B) Actual Results: LO prompts user to save pdf in directory (A) Expected Results: LO prompts use to save pdf in directory (B) where user is presently working. This > similarly overlaps in Writer. Interestingly this starts to overlap in > different versions compared to the table + table. > > Overlaps in 5.4.0.3. > Doesn't overlap in 5.3.0.3. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119445] When switching to a new paragraph in a big document, the display of the current paragraph style in the sidebar updates with a lag
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119445 --- Comment #2 from Dr. Matthias Weisser --- "We need a test case for this." I understand your problem. Its no problem sending an original file as private copy. But I cannot post my original files there. Please understand. "To quickly remove pictures" This is not a problem because all pictures are embedded as a link. So when I do not give away the folder "Bilder" no pictures are loaded because the files are missing. "Let's hope the bug is not tied to the presence of the images." This may be the case because picture loading consumes memory. Unfortunately the problem is related to a memory problem. When I write books I have several windows open as is LO (may be up to 3 open documents), Dreamweaver 4, PSP5.03, Everything, 2-3 Explorers, Firefox with several windows open and sometimes also ppt from Office 2000 with a 100MB file open. Working a whole day on the document sometimes problems with LO occur, like "Datei speichern" does not work any longer correctly, the cursor does not behave correctly (is jumping around when typing in text) and so on, text marking does not work any longer in one of the LO windows. All this seems to be memory related. But there is quite some memory there. So may be hard to find. I do not know how to help best here. I can only explain what I do see here on several laptops of the same type over the years. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
