[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122398] UI: Cannot specify date in axis scale

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122398

If I set the minimum value of the X axis in chart.ods to 09/04/1900, save, and
unpack, I see that chart:minimum has a value of 100 in "Object 2/content.xml".
Could it be that there is an incorrect range check for dates, permitting values
in the 0-100 range, like percentages, instead of whatever is appropriate for
dates?

OK, I just got that weird behavior again. I had just typed a capital "L" and
was going to type an "a" after, and when I hit "a" a menu popped open. So, no,
it's not OpenGL or using an old user profile that causes that weird behavior.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122398] New: UI: Cannot specify date in axis scale

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122398

Bug ID: 122398
Summary: UI: Cannot specify date in axis scale
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kyri...@alumni.princeton.edu

Created attachment 147914
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=147914=edit
Spreadsheet with a chart showing the problem

Version: 6.2.0.1
Build ID: 0412ee99e862f384c1106d0841a950c4cfaa9df1
CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: el-GR (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

In a chart that contains an axis with a date datatype, the UI does not allow
specifying a minimum or maximum value greater than 09/04/1900 (i.e., April 9,
1900).

E.g., see attached chart.ods. If I uncheck the minimum or maximum value of the
X axis, the corresponding input field will show 09/04/1900, and the spinner
controls will only allow decreasing that value. If I enter a later date by
hand, e.g., 01/01/2019, and hit tab, that date will be changed to 09/04/1900.

This seems to be a UI only issue. If I unpack the ods file, edit the
corresponding content.xml file by hand, adjust chart:minimum to an appropriate
value (e.g., 43466 for 1/1/2019), and repack, the chart scale appears correct,
though LibreOffice still shows 09/04/1900 in the Format Axis dialog, and still
does not allow entering higher values. The same goes for charts that had been
created with previous versions of LibreOffice.

The problem appears with both the gtk and the kde UI.

This would need ESC approval for a mass correction of the Elementary theme. The
theme cleanup is still probably warranted even for as late as a 6.1.5 build, it
brings it in line with theme work at 6.2.0 and would eliminate some of these
nuisance issues.

I especially want to draw the attention to the fact that as a consequence you
cannot select the underlying cell using the mouse, you have to reach it using
the up/down/left/right keys. Hence I extended the title.
As far as I could test it, Excel does behave as I would expect.

i can tell many more "bug"s in pre 6.2 release cycle for elementary theme.
Instead of send particular patch I propose to backport latest elementary build

icon backporting so we as designer could backport other icons theme as well.
Definitely icons would not break stability.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121380] LibreOffice base readability issue with Dark Theme

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121380

It seems that Libre (like certain other programs) suffers from a general issue
with producing very low contrast text-vs-background combinations under under
certain conditions that are difficult to enumerate. Configuring Libre to light
text on a dark background and/or using a dark desktop/toolkit theme, seem to
trigger these issues. I'm fighting a couple of them now (white text on a pale
yellow background in Writer comments, black formulas on a black background in
writer). Sometimes switching desktop themes will cure the issue in one context
while causing it somewhere else.

I understand that light-on-dark is helpful for people with some kinds of weak
vision. I personally find it much easier to look at over time, even though my
vision is not horrible.

I wonder if it would be practical to implement a bit of code in LO that checks
the contrast between text and background and tweaks the font color
automatically to avoid these situations. This would probably need to be made
optional to avoid interfering with people who actually *want* low contrast.

Sounds as if there is no or not enough money to pay a LO software programmer

(200 €) in 2018 to a German foundation which is collecting money for generating
or maintaining open source software.

I see the same issue with the Adwaita-dark theme on GNOME3.30.2.

I set the "Document background" to black and the "Font color" to white under
"Options -> LibreOffice -> Application Colors" and inserted a formula in Writer
by doing Alt-I - O - F to get the formula text entry box. The text in the
entry box was white on a black background as expected, and the formula in the
Writer page display was also white on a black background. But when I clicked
on a blank part of the Writer document to finish entering the formula, the
formula switched to black on black.

I haven't found any way to change the color of the finished formula except by
putting explicit colors in the formula itself. I don't want to do that since
the light color would probably persist even if someone opened the .odt file
with LO configured for black text on a white background.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122397] New: Editing: Writer jumps back to selected text when copying to another location using X-clipboard

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122397

Bug ID: 122397
Summary: Editing: Writer jumps back to selected text when
copying to another location using X-clipboard
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ckore...@atlanticbb.net

Description:
When editing a multi-page document, using the X clipboard to copy text between
pages causes an unwanted display jump from the page where the text was pasted
back to the page from which it was copied. This is inconvenient for its own
sake (since the user typically wants to continue editing where he just pasted
the text). The problem is compounded by the fact that the original text
remains selected, so that if the user then starts typing the original text is
deleted.

This behavior is inconsistent with the that of most (all?) other programs that
support the X clipboard. It's also inconsistent with the behavior of Writer
itself when the copy-and-paste is done via the ctrl+C, ctrl+V keystroke
sequences.

The current behavior is this:

* Middle-click pastes the selected text at the mouse pointer position

* The display jumps back to display the page with the previously-selected text

* The previously-selected text remains selected

Typically, the user must then manually de-select the text at its original
position and then manually return to the page where he pasted it in order to
continue editing there.

To improve this, it would be useful to change the middle-click behavior to be
consistent with other programs that support the X clipboard:

* Middle-click pastes the selected text at the mouse pointer position (as it
does currently)

* The display does not jump when the text is pasted

* The selected text that was copied is de-selected

* The text cursor moves to a position just after the pasted text

With these changes, it should be possible for the user to select text on one
page of a document, scroll to another page, middle-click to paste the selected
text, and continue typing without any additional steps.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a multi-page document in Writer
2.Select some text on the first page
3.Scroll down a few pages and middle-click to paste the selected text

Actual Results:
Writer jumps back to the the first page of the document. The selected text is
still selected.

Expected Results:
Writer does not jump the display (it remains where it was when the user
middle-clicked). The text cursor is positioned immediately after the pasted
text. The previously-selected text is de-selected.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This was found and tested on various Linux distros running various versions of
LibreOffice (it's a pretty old bug). It presumably happens on all Writer
versions running on X. The obvious workaround is to use the ctrl+C, ctrl+V
clipboard and just accept the efficiency hit.

I tried using the checkbox "Use only paper size from printer preferences"; it
did not change anything.

About the paper size: The size I'm trying to print in is 'user defined' 21,59cm
x 33,30cm, but I've tried changing it to other sizes and the problem usually
remains. (Sometimes I successfully change to a different size, but it seems
random; there isn't a certain size it'll accept.) While trying to troubleshoot
this, I accidentally installed a US driver for the printer which set my default
size to letter; while it was installed, the problem remained, except that the
size it was stuck on was letter instead of A4. (That is to say, it seems to be
stuck on whatever the default paper size is.)

It does seem to be quite similar to Bug 105615, though. Should I do anything?

Recording search strings into an ODF archive seems no more "secure" than
recording to user profile, probably less so since once a document is out of
users control those prior searches would be exposed.

As to what could be done to record search strings (and probably replacement
strings as well, not results of course) for LibreOffice the user profile seems
the correct location.

Notepad++ records per user search strings into stanzas in a
 XML file--config.xml.

We already do similar in LibreOffice's application registry to hold the
picklist for our MRU per user profile.

If you look at the example on the page cited in comment #1, which in fact is
only a proposal how it could look like when it will be developped, there is
already included the request for buttons (simply search for button), even
though the title does not state this. Otherwise, as I agree with you, the
proposal would not be very helpful.
But there seems to be no realisation yet, at least I could not find one where I
would think it should be placed, namely in parallel to menubar, toolbar etc.
You may also note that the text is dated 2016 and has not been edited since.
I would gladly add buttons to the notebokbars, even though I do not like seem,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122395] New: Irrecoverable loss of focus editing formula across worksheets with frozen rows/columns

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 122395
Summary: Irrecoverable loss of focus editing formula across

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.2.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: templ...@protonmail.com

When editing a formula in the formula bar, LibreOffice Calc 6.1.2.1 release
(Fedora 29, GNOME 3) irrecoverably loses focus if another worksheet is accessed
for addition to the formula, if that worksheet has freeze rows/columns enabled.

The only way to escape appears to be to force quit the application.

Upon re-launching the application, if the freeze rows/columns is removed from
the worksheet, the formula can be written without any loss of focus or problem
otherwise.

This has been encountered on multiple unique documents, saved in both .ods and
.xlsx formats.

Sorry, I have no access to my Linux for six weeks to come.
On Windows 7, results for the various styles are as follows:
Colibre, Breeze, Karasa Jaga, SiFr, Tango: okay.
Elementary: icons swapped.
Thus, it does seem to be a problem limited to the Elementary style.
Moreover, I second Heiko in that several of the icons are not particularly
iconic.

Improved, but still a bit buggy in LibO 6.2.0 RC 1.

Test case to have an issue needs to be slightly changed to still show the buggy
behaviour

Test case (again with attachment 80018)

1) Open attached document

2) Note that the cloud image is anchored to cell B2, and placed in such a way
that the top of the cloud is about half-way in row 2.

3) Now, select row 1 and insert a row before row 1. This works: the cloud
correctly moves down, since it remains still relative to its anchor point (now
cell B3). Now the top of the cloud is about half-way in row 3.

4) Put your cursor in cell A2 at the end of the world "Foo", press CTRL-ENTER
to insert a line break and type "Bar". This is broken in LibO < 6.2 and working
(sort of) in LibO 6.2. In LibO 6.2 the cloud correctly moves down, since it
remains (almost) still relative to its anchor point (now cell B3). Now the top
of the cloud is about half-way in row 3. Actually, the behavior is still buggy,
because there must be some miscalculation and the image moves /slightly/ up
relative to its anchor point.

5) Put your cursor in cell A2 at the end of the world "Bar" and press
CTRL-ENTER 10 times. This adds 10 empty lines to cell A2 and makes evident the
miscalculation reported at the previous point 4). Now the top of the cloud is
not anymore half-way in row 3.

Note that this is not handled properly. The height of cell A2 is increased in
order to accomodate the two lines of text. This means that cell B3, to which
the cloud image is anchored moves down. However, the cloud image does not move
down, so that its relative position with respect to the anchor point is
changed. The top of the cloud should have remained about half-way in row 3, but
now it is at the bottom of row 2.

Seems the issue with reversed Promote/Demote icons in the Navigator deck occurs
just with the Elementary theme. And *is* present on Windows builds (6.1.4.2)
when Elementary icon style is selected.

And there is similar issue with the icon's used for Next/Previous in the Find

I noticed that some borders had value to -1 to indicate no border whereas it
should be 0.
I uninstalled the extension, unpacked oxt, changed the value, rezip and
reinstalled.
I got another assertion
This time I don't know what's the pb.

Anyway it's quite an old extension, 2008 if INSTALL.txt is up-to-date.

2018-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 122394
Summary: changing named ranges content via vba macro will not
update cell formula
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: oliver.brinz...@gmx.de

Created attachment 147909

test vlookup changed range vba

i noticed the problem while investigating issue
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122378

- open attached "test_vlookup_changed_range_vba.ods"
- press button
- named range "Region" content is changed via:
  ThisWorkbook.Names("Region").RefersTo = "=Sheet1!$A$9:$B$11"
- but vlookup formula's in A2:A4 will not update
- a full hard recalc will not work
- the document keeps unmodifed

- to force a recalc, e.g. cell A2
  - select A2
  - press F2
  - press space
  - enter

btw.:
the problem does not happen if named ranges content is changed via lo api,
see "test_vlookup_changed_range.ods"

User must know about "Use only paper size from printer preferences" checkbox on

Please try with that.
And explain exactly what's the original paper size you're trying to change.

It does sound similar to bug 122363.

For me, all the 6.0 series have been OK. I had a problem with 6.1.2, which was
the first one that I installed, and every version of 6.1 that I installed
since.

It is severe enough that I will have to uninstall 6.1 and revert to 6.0.7
(which was OK).

Before I do, is there anything that I can take do help resolve the problem? I
have Visual Studio Community Edition installed, if that will help with
debugging.

Please, don't change the "version:" that field indicates where the problem was

fixed in LO 5.0 with commit 65a56636a68451d15499a37c2d5bd9efb71b1279
Author: Michael Stahl
CommitDate: Tue Apr 14 17:29:36 2015 +0200
tdf#88337 tdf#89193: sw: add missing SwXPageStyle properties

It is still true in 6.3 master that the background from OP's "Borders and

colour also started showing up at Michael's 5.0 commit.)

Thank you for clarification.
I try to explain, why this (in my opinion) is not ab bug. You have two lists ib
your document: One list with heading 1 style and one list with heading 2 style.
they all are at the same level (level 1). If you want to put them together:
right click => bullets and numbering => continue previous numbering. If you
want to change the level: right click => bullets and umbering => Demote one
level. This is the way you get the 1.1 or 1.2 format.

So I close this bug as NOTABUG. If you don't agree, fell free to change it back
to UNCONFIRMED with a reasoning. And again: If you want to create chapter
numbering, you should use tools => chapter numbering instead of lists.

Thank you for reporting the bug. It seems you're using an old version of
LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of
LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I
have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED'
if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED
WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
