Sounds as making existing functionality better understandable. So I support it

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124044] KDE5 VCL may require a little more cooking for wide consumption (at least on impress)

2019-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124044

--- Comment #5 from sergio.calleg...@gmail.com ---
Thank you Michael for reporting here the strategy you proposed. I very much
appreciate having the ability to see where the project goes and what is being
suggested. And I also very much appreciate seeing that user feedback is taken
in consideration with so much care and promptness!

For the plan, I obviously believe that it makes a lot of sense.

Thank you also for thoroughly answering to my previous message. I'll definitely
keep trying the kde5 vcl as new releases come out on the 6.2 branch and keep
trying to do my best in trying to help the developers with some feedback when I
find something worth reporting.

In the meantime, there is something that is still not 100% clear to me. Is the
building of the gtk3_kde5 vcl plugin incompatible with that of the kde5 vcl
plugin in the LibO deb packages?

I am (maybe wrongly) getting this impression from your last statement:

"In case it's decided to "disable" kde5 for 6.2, the easiest thing would
probably be to revert commit [3], resulting in kde5 not to be chosen
automatically any more, but the order on KDE Plasma and LXQt then becoming:
gtk3_kde5, kde4, gtk3, gtk, gen"

from which it seems like either you have gtk3_kde5 or kde5 on the plugin list.

Would it be possible (and sensible) to ship both the gtk3_kde5 plugin and the
kde5 for the time being, so letting people on KDE plasma play with both
gtk3_kde5 and kde5 in view of the decision that might be taken at 6.2.5?

Unfortunately, I cannot test either, since I was never able to reproduce (s.
comment 1).
Alternatively, it could be checked it's actually fixed with a recent build from
the 6-2-2 branch. Or one could fall back to hoping it's fixed and in case that
fails, it's still going to be fixed in 6.2.3 at least...

It's additional pain that this is Windows-only, as I haven't ever built pdfium

2019-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Katarina Behrens (CIB) from comment #2)
> In other words, it is bit too early to panic. If it is this broken some 4-5
> months down the road, let's talk again.

I took this topic to today's ESC (Engineering and Steering Committee) call and
the decision (according to suggestion) was to take some more time, keep an eye
and take a decision once 6.2 is getting closer to become "still" (i.e. the 6.3
release). From the minutes (to become available in the mailing list archives at
[1] sometime soon):

* keep kde5 as default on KDE Plasma and LXQt desktops for LibreOffice 6.2?
  (Michael W)
+ kde5 is currently default on Plasma & LXQt
+ tdf#124044 correctly states it’s not yet ready for “production”
+ concerned that by the time 6.2 is ‘still’ - will it be ready.
+ talked with Bubli – and suggest waiting some weeks until 6.2.5
+ happy if you are (Michael)
+ if you do the work – you decide (Miklos)
=> leave it to those doing the work to decide.

So basically, a decision is supposed to be taken in time for LO 6.2.5 (s.
schedule at [2]).

(In reply to sergio.callegari from comment #3)

I do understand quite well. On the other hand, there's been quite some positive
reaction on kde5 as well, so I think it's reasonable to do as outlined above.

I'd like to encourage you to keep track of the current status and tell us how
you see it once again it get's closer to the 6.2.5 freeze.

In case you can still find out more about this, this would be really helpful
for any developer considering to look into this, and thus for getting those
ugly things fixed. It's OK for a bug to not be 100 % reproducible and say e.g.
"When I do this, about 1 out of 10 times, this and that fails." While those are
for sure not the nicest bugs to analyse, it's not uncommon and there are ways
to deal with that.

The packages provided by TDF actually don't include gtk3_kde5.

In case it's decided to "disable" kde5 for 6.2, the easiest thing would
probably be to revert commit [3], resulting in kde5 not to be chosen
automatically any more, but the order on KDE Plasma and LXQt then becoming:
gtk3_kde5, kde4, gtk3, gtk, gen
In your case, where gtk3_kde5 is not available, that would mean that kde4 would
be used (as desired).

People still wanting to use kde5 would then have to set the SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN
environment variable (i.e. kde5 would become opt-in rather than opt-out in some
sense...)

Don't agree. When queries in Tools > SQL will work without double-quotes
INSERTS and UPDATES should do it the same way.

SELECT * FROM t2

will work. t2 will be accepted in a query.

INSERT INTO t2 ...

won't work. t2 won't be accepted in INSERTS, also won't be accepted in UPDATES.

The error, which appears, says: Database is looking for uppercased
ACCOUNTCHART, but "accountchart" seems to be the name of the field in the
table.

Queries without double-quotes will work well, but INSERTS and UPDATES won't
work without double-quotes with the internal Firebird Database.

This has nothing to do with with the GUI for queries. Query-GUI doesn't allow
INSERT and UPDATE - only queries without changing the content of the table. The
test for this bug could only be executed in Tools > SQL (for persons, who won't
start macros ...).

@Drew : No, it shouldn't run in the query window, or at least, the GUI query
interface isn't currently designed to accept INSERT statements (and never has
been). This part of the GUI is only designed to take select statements and
returne result sets, but not allow for updating or insertion.

We should close this as WFM, because the solution is to use DML statements with
quoting via the Tools > SQL window as you have indicated, and not the Query GUI
window (irrespective of whether it is executed directly or not).

Thank you, Gabor.

It would be nice if a configuration option is introduced that allows to only
add one hyper-link into a Cell for a specific spread sheet file.

At the moment I use MS Excel 2016 and find that in some aspects less flexible
than LO calc.

Thanks.

2019-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124069

Also the query works as expected when used in a macro:

Sub Main

stmt = thisdatabasedocument.currentcontroller.activeconnection.createStatement

stmt.execute( "INSERT INTO " + """t2""" + "(" + """accountchart""" +", "+
"""accountcode"""+") "+" SELECT "+ """accountchart""" +", "+"""accountcode"""
+" FROM "+ """t1""" )

End Sub

This runs as expected.

So, the question really is; Should it run in the query definition window with
SQL Direct = True?

I'm not sure but doesn't the query definition require a result set?

On Win10 + LO 6.1.5.2, I could reproduce this.

A little more detailed step by step process:
- create brand new odb file
- 1 table with id + value
- 1 table with id + value + value2
- right click table 2 then choose "copy"
- right click table 1 then choose "paste"
=> a diaog titled "Copy table" appears
- choose "Add data" then click Next button
=> dialog is now title "Assign columns"

Indeed, having sorting buttons at left and right is certainly a bug.

Alex/Robert: any thoughts? Did you ever used this dialog in previous versions?
Is it a regression?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124069] Firebird SQL: INSERT INTO...SELECT

2019-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124069

You need to quote the identifiers in this case.

INSERT INTO "t2"
("accountchart", "accountcode")
SELECT
"accountchart",
"accountcode"
FROM "t1"

With that done it will run as expected in the SQL window.

However, it still fails in a query definition (w/Run SQL Direct = true)
but with the quotes the error is different:

Error code: 1

firebird_sdbc error:
*Cursor is not open
caused by
'isc_dsql_fetch'

Open any Writer file, format a paragraph (~oa)
or edit the style (r-click>modify).
if the cursor is to the right, Backspace deletes the last char (OK) and puts
the cursor in 1st position, to the left (idiotic). Then, when one enters a
char, the cursor returns every time to its 1st position, so that entering "123"
gives '321' To obtain '123', one must reposition the cursor at the right after
each char.
Editing other parameters, such as Indent or Spacing, is normal.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124077] New: Broken roundtrip (save/load) for impress/draw document including tables

2019-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124077

Bug ID: 124077
Summary: Broken roundtrip (save/load) for impress/draw document
including tables
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com

Description:
LibO Impress and Draw include an insert table function. Unfortunately, table
formatting does not seem to be always preserved during a save/load roundtrip.

The issue is certainly present in LibO 6.0.x, 6.1.x, 6.2.x and probably also in
previous versions (which I cannot test).

I have managed distilling a reproducible test case and a document is attached
to this report. Please, follow the instructions in "steps to reproduce" to work
with it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the test document, note that there is a table in it. Select the table
and right click to get the object position and size, see that the height is
72.29 mm

2. Click on the bottom handle of the table and kindly push it up. See that the
table gets reduced in its height. Reduce the table height as much as possible.

3. Check the table height again. Now it should be 62.39mm

4. Save the document, close LibO

5. Reopen LibO and reopen the document, check the table height. The table
height is back to 72.29mm

Actual Results:
The roundtrip does not fully preserve the document content. The table height is
lost.

There is no infobar yet, but it would be consistent. If that's not possible
without too much effort the proposal from comment 8 is fine.

Thank you for reporting the bug. Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step
instructions on how to reproduce the problem. For example: Are you talking
about context menu in a blank document or in a table?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' once the steps are provided

Open screenshot. The image is anchored to frame. Its position is set to
'center' to 'left frame border'. The position is correct in file. But the
dialog shows the wrong preview, it is that for right border.
