[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125117] EDIT: Table of Contens (TOC) spanning more than page: Only the first page of the TOC can successfully be assigned to the page style „Index“
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125117 --- Comment #2 from Jens Radloff --- Hi Drew, Thanks for your support. After a long time of trying and searching I successfully could implement your workaround, thanks. I needed to read the locally installed online help for LO Writer to find out which exact icon I have to click in menu View => Styles in order to create a new, custom page style (I did not notice the horizontal icon line at the top of the "Styles and Formatting" window, instead I used the vertical icon line in this window, which did not let me implement your workaround). Before I could apply this new, custom page style (I called it "Index_2") as the next page style for the "Index" style I had to deactivate the write-protection for the TOC in my document. Having defined the new, custom page style (with the "Default" page style as the next page style, and page numbers deactivated) as the next page style for the page style "Index" I had to activate the write-protection for the index in my document again. This workaround is much too complicated, although it works. I guess the LO developers have a different opinion on this, but one cannot expext that every LO user is a power user. An unexperienced and also a normal user would not be able to implement this workaround without spending a lot of his or her time and with the possibility that he or she will give up because he or she fails to find out an implement this workaround. And if he or she did not fail, i.e. he or she successfully implemented this workaorund, will he or she remember this workaround the next time he or she gets confronted again with the issue that is subject of this bug report? Due to this it is my opinion that it would be better if the page style "index" would get definied by default within LO writer for an endless amount of pages which contain an index. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103793] FORMATTING: Conditional formatting doesn't respect category of number-format (Documentation per Comment 8).
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103793 --- Comment #9 from AndyK --- I have a little table where I want positive values lower or equal 10 to be displayed as percentage "#,##0%" and values higher than 10 as normal decimal values with format "#,##0". 1. I made a style "percentage" based off of the standard/default style, changed the number formatting to percentage "#,##0%" and selected the bold font type (to verify). 2. I made a style "number" based off of the standard/default style, changed the number formatting to decimal "#,##0" and selected the italic font style (to verify) 3. I typed in A1 the value 2.5, A2 the value 0.5, A3 the value 125 and in A4 the value 30. 4. I created a conditional formatting with condition 1 "value is below 11" set use style "percentage" and condition 2 "value is equal or greater than 11" use style "number". Range A1:A4 I thought conditional formatting would allow me to do this, but it is not as I can't change number formatting using conditional formatting. If I manually set the style "percentage" or "number" to a cell, the correct number format will be displayed. While writing this and verifying every step along I found a workaround: 1. Enter your values 2. Select the cells you want to have the conditional formatting 3. "Edit" -> "Clear Cells (Backspace)" -> select only "Format" 4. Create styles (if necessary) 5. Create/Apply conditional formatting The step to clear all formats is the key action to have this working. Even though the user has not explicitly applied a format did so implicitly. Imho this information should be included in the help documentary. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119775] Incorrect keyboard navigation when insert table toolbar button is dropped down and right or down arrow key is pressed
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119775 Jim Raykowski changed: What|Removed |Added Assignee|libreoffice-b...@lists.free |rayk...@gmail.com |desktop.org | --- Comment #2 from Jim Raykowski --- (In reply to Buovjaga from comment #1) > An interesting fact is that still in 3.6 the arrow keys determined the > cell/row amounts. Later, there appeared a defect, where the selection did > not appear with a single arrow, but you had to also press another arrow key. > Then in the 5.x era it changed to just staying at More options button. Reading the code it seems up until when the 'More Options...' button was added the keyboard should have been able to be used. Here is a patch to restore this ability when *activated by keyboard*. https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/71813/ The patch does not show the 'More Options..." button when the Insert Table popup window is activated using the keyboard. The Insert Table dialog automatically opens when row or column amount using arrow keys exceeds the row or column size of the popup. The Tab key also opens the Insert Table dialog. Up Arrow key and Left Arrow key when on first row/column as well as Escape key and Enter key at any time close the popup. When the Mouse is used to activate the Insert Table popup window the 'More Options...' button is displayed. To prevent the key input buggy behavior reported, key input is limited to Space, Return, and Escape when the focus is on the 'More Options...' button. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125109] Calc inverts typed dates
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125109 --- Comment #9 from SStefanek --- I'm trying to play with "Date Acceptance Patterns" but I can't figure out how they work. Whatever i put in the setting the input behavior doesn't change: it still interprets all the date patterns as dates and still swaps day and month. By the way, I still have LibreOffice 5.4.5.1 on my laptop and that one works perfectly (same system and LO settings). First of all it seems to interpret the input based on the cell format. If it's set to an English locale then 01/02/2019 will lead to 02 Jan 2019. If it's set to Italian locale then 01/02/2019 will lead to 01 Feb 2019. Moreover it never swaps day and month: what the user types is what will end up in the cell. I think that the previous behavior was correct. Obviously it might be a matter of personal preference, "industry standard" or whatever. But since currently there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it, I suggest that the behavior should be configurable: either prefer cell format for date interpretation or prefer global locale. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125109] Calc inverts typed dates
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125109 --- Comment #8 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to SStefanek from comment #7) > So on windows with Excel it's a matter of system date settings. True. > Calc on windows has a different behavior. With global English locale and > system date format -MM-DD it still interprets XX/YY/ input as > MM/DD/ regardless of what format is set on the cell (unless MM is > greater than 12). So I guess that the system setting is honored only > partially: global locale is used but specific date format is ignored. LibreOffice does not take system locale into consideration "completely". Well - sorts of: LibreOffice uses system locale to detect the *default* locale - if user doesn't set LibreOffice locale to some explicit value in Options->Language Settings->Languages. And then, it doesn't take into account any OS-specific additional settings, like intl.cpl settings other than language on Windows, or LC_TIME on Linux. There's an enhancement request on that; but it has never worked differently with LO/OOo. LO had introduced accepted date formats to allow users to fine-tune what is accepted as date. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125109] Calc inverts typed dates
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125109 --- Comment #7 from SStefanek --- Thank you for taking time to make a video. It helps nailing down the issue. So on windows with Excel it's a matter of system date settings. I have English locale and date format set to -MM-DD. If I type in any format that is not like -MM-DD (say it's DD/MM/) it is interpreted like text and preserved: not perfect but still OK. If I type in -MM-DD then it works like in your video: it changes it to whatever the format is set on the cell, even to the insane MM/DD/. OK. So Excel really interprets input related to system locale. Calc on windows has a different behavior. With global English locale and system date format -MM-DD it still interprets XX/YY/ input as MM/DD/ regardless of what format is set on the cell (unless MM is greater than 12). So I guess that the system setting is honored only partially: global locale is used but specific date format is ignored. This seems to be case also on linux: with LC_TIME set to it_IT and everything else set to en_US the dates are swapped on input. I'm pretty sure this used to work before. My dates weren't swapped when typing. It started when I have upgraded from Ubuntu 18.* to Ubuntu 19.04. I have also tested Calligra Sheets (which does not preserve input) and Gnumeric (which preserves it). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I'm Russian, and use Russian locale (D/M/Y); so I did just the opposite: I set the cells to en-US, and then entered the date, so you may see that the date as I entered (1.3.2019) converted to 3.1.2019 on entry. I guess it should be that the patch has not been put > into the daily build. This is just fixed in 6.3 / master builds (see whiteboard). I know the commit is just a single removed line, but that completely changes the layouting code for fallback fonts, which you have in this case with mixed asian + western glyphs in a single string. I'm rather reluctant to port this to 6.2, as it's just a minor nuisance with regard to usability and 6.2 is already out since a few months and I don't know what else might break. And FWIW 6.3 has some more changes to Asian layouting, which I think are correct, but can't really verify. So if you still want to verify the fix, please test a master build. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Not sure; RFC 4180 tells: > 7. If double-quotes are used to enclose fields, then a double-quote > appearing inside a field must be escaped by preceding it with > another double quote. So a single quote in a field starting with a quote shouldn't be treated as a normal quote in a quote-enclosed field; rather, if it's not followed by a field separator, the string should be treated as not-quore-enclosed; and the quotes should be treated as normal characters, part of the field. At least that's my understanding of the situation. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125112] New: Last page view not fully respected on exit and new session in Calc
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125112 Bug ID: 125112 Summary: Last page view not fully respected on exit and new session in Calc Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.2.0.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: arthurkin...@gmail.com Description: I use multiple worksheets in a workbook, Usually about 50, sometimes more. So my Calc screen has a row of worksheets, some visible, some not. All normal operation. Scrolling works fine. Issue is, when working some of the final worksheets(say 40 through to 50, out of 50), wanting to keep worksheet 40 as the active one on re opening Calc, Calc re opens with Worksheet 40 at the end of the row, so 41-50 are hidden by the scroll bar. Is there a way to set a save last view, so that I can have worksheet 40 as the active sheet on opening Calc again, but also that the last worksheet in the row is my final worksheet(in the example above worksheet 50) Ie. if there is setting for saving Calc to view exactly as it was closed, rather than it defaulting to my active worksheet being the last one in the row. My current work around is that I edit my worksheet, then highlight the last worksheet as the active one. Would be nice if Calc could be set to open exactly as it was closed. Haven't used Excel for many years now, my last version was 2010 I think, but I do remember it opens a new session exactly as last saved and closed. TIA, Arthur. Actual Results: Editing sheet 40, but have worksheets 30-50 in view on the worksheet tab list. Preference is to view these last sheets, primarily 40-50. Save the work done on sheet 40, and would prefer Calc to maintain this view for the next session. Re open Calc, but now sheet 40 is the last sheet now in view in the worksheet tabs row, and it displays sheet 20-40, not XX through to final. Expected Results: Would hope that on re opening Calc it would display on screen, exactly as it was last saved/closed, but doesn't. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Not sure if this is a bug, or just not programmed in this manner. All other functions work as expected, saved worksheet is fine, no data loss .. just not respecting the last screen view on exiting the program. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It might make my work harder;). > although it would be good to consider whether we need some > convenience wrappers around std::chrono to make it somewhat less verbose - > particularly the cast to milliseconds is very ugly. Can you please elaborate. What do you mean by convinience wrapper here? I think moving to std::chrono will take a lot of work. For e.g to move this [1], we have std::chrono::time_point::time_since_epoch whose return type is std::chrono::system_clock::duration, while the data type already being used is std::time_t. So we will have to typecast or something. Do we have to move all the present instances of Poco::Timestamp or are there some restrictions? Thank You. It should have been enough to simply install it. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125110] New: CalcSpreadsheet: issues converting .CSV wherre there are more than 30K rows of data
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125110 Bug ID: 125110 Summary: CalcSpreadsheet: issues converting .CSV wherre there are more than 30K rows of data Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.1.5.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ad...@okbarrydale.com Description: We have a need to convert a .CSV file with more than 13,000 rows of data to and XLXS file. The data is a mix of character and numerals with 9 columns - simple data It is our product lines Master Stock List exported from our back office inventory and sales system - the data contains product ID, descriptions, pack sized, last sold dates etc. What appears to happen at about 131K lines or so the data does not get unpacked into columns/rows and comes through as a "stack" into one cell containing thousands of lines of data. However, if I convert the same file using MS Excel, and then open the XLS file as created by MS EXCEL, then LibreOffice has no issues using and formatting the data. Now it may be that the source data has some special characters and MS Excel is a liottle more forgiving ... I am not sure. What I find Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select given .CSV to import/convert - character set "Western Europe windows-1252/winlatin1" 2.at data row 13137 conversion stops ... data not unpacked 3. Actual Results: Warning message: The data could not be loaded completely because the maximum number of characters per cell was exceeded. Expected Results: Unpack all rows of data correctly Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: We will load the data file on the ticket about 5mb I cannot find a corrupt data record, there may well be though -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125102] LO crashes upon trying to save a file
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125102 --- Comment #3 from Christian Lehmann --- Thanks for the hint. I will try that (although 6.1.6 is not yet recommended as a stable version). Meanwhile I can report that LO Writer also crashes in the following situation: - Have a document open. - Hit the shortcut CTRL-o to open another document. Here the same message as above appears, and one may send an automatic error report. I did this twice in the last few minutes, just in case anybody among the developers would be interested. The generalization seems to be that any file operations may lead to a breakdown of LO if they are triggered while a document is open. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125109] Calc inverts typed dates
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125109 --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to SStefanek from comment #2) > However this is very user-unfriendly > ... > The same applies to dates. If a document contains a column of dates > formatted as (DD/MM/YYY), thinking and typing them all in as MM/DD/ is > very hard. I'd say it's almost impossible to do without errors. In opposite, the current behavior is much more user-friendly than the proposed change. If you are from the US, you likely think of dates using the national standard (month-day). And having to always re-think how to put it to a cell accepting a date would be a burden. So proper selection of your locale allows you to disregard any formatting; and e.g. use string like "jan/3" if you wish. Additionally, you only consider a case of formatting where only day and month exchange positions. But there are more possible formats. You may use ISO format (2019-04-30); or you may use home-grown format like `"day "DD" in year "YY" month "MM`... and treating format as input mask would impose huge difficulties to user. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125109] Calc inverts typed dates
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125109 --- Comment #3 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to SStefanek from comment #2) > and really no software does that Wrong. MS Excel (the major spreadsheet software) does that; that's the industry standard. > Analogy: if a form accepts a price in euro everyone is expected to type > euros in there. This is valid also for users that live in USA and have > dollars as "system" currency. Your analogy is wrong. Spreadsheet is not a form itself. *Format string* is never used to interpret the input (other than when it tells that the cell is text, so no interpretation at all is needed), because format string may be however complex, with different parts, and even invalid itself. Formatting is related to display, not to input. > Another thing I see now is that it's not consistent. Typing in a date like > 21/12/2001 will NOT swap day and month. Very hard to use. It *is* consistent. When you type it like that, it's treated as invalid date, and then simply not converted to date at all, staying string (and then you can't use it in calculations like finding date difference etc). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It is taken from you (according to your locale, which is set to en-US, i.e., using MM/DD/ date ordering); the date is converted from the text to the date internal representation; and then it's shown according to the cell's format, which puts parts in a different order.
