[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126074] Icon styles should not modify official application icons in start center (and other relevant places)

And again it comes to the same thing, inconsistency of a key visual element.
You assume that the customization is good as a premise and also this may or may
not be based on an established element (logo). In the end you could see any
design and be fine.

> I just don't agree that the app icons should be made part of that
> "intangible image of LibreOffice".

Of course, we agree on that. The icons of applications are part of the visual
identity of LibreOffice and it is a tangible element of its image, which is not
respected in the software itself, since it is placed on top of this the
"non-standardized" customization.

Curious, some concrete examples here.
- The logo is used for the main app/start center, however it is replaced by the
customization, even though you consider that it is the only thing that should
be maintained.
- I think it's harder to keep X different icons and T different styles, than a
concrete one that can be used equally by all of them.
- The visual elements to which I have mentioned are used everywhere, except in
the software. With this I do not say that it is not included, however, it is
placed below other layers such as customization, so for example, there are
users of macOS or some gnu/linux distro that do not relate the icons of
applications with those used on the web, wiki, help, etc. You should not assume
that every user should know what LibreOffice is.
. Having a clear visual identity improves both the tangible and intangible
image of any organization.

same findings as reported by Stuart.
no change in overall speed loading that huge replacement table.

looking at the committ by Noel it seems his fix only addressed slowness while
switching to another language in an already opened replacement table, this is
good of course but this was not the issue that I originally reported.

the current bug report is about slower loading of huge replacament table
compared to 5.3.7 where it was quite fast.

as mentioned several time, the regression happened in 6.0.x development
(comment 11) and a bibisect regarding the offending committ is available in
comment 13.

so I set back status to NEW since there are 2 independent confirmations about
persistence of original issue

Note that my wording doesn't imply that customized app icons *should* be based
on the logo; only that *if* they are based on it, *then* they should follow
some guidelines (and I suppose that existing guidelines wrt the logo is
enough). I would agree that KJ styling seems too resembling the logo (having
the page), but at the same time, is too different, breaking the logo guidelines
(already existing: they tell about the ratio, the position and styling of the
corner etc, and simply following that would already make it consistent). Again:
I don't think that the app icons should be based on the logo in all
customizations.

Heh, you seem to miss the idea I tried to emphasize by the irony: that your
proposal affects only those who are already using the software; and that
suggests that you must be right wrt "Irony never brings a healthy discussion".

I just don't agree that the app icons should be made part of that "intangible
image of LibreOffice". I find it nice that only the logo is part of it. The
more things you make part of it, the more difficult it becomes to maintain and
evolve. Without actual benefit really, because, as I already mentioned, the
discussed proposal tells about what already existing users may notice, and
which doesn't improve the "intangible image of LibreOffice" it the existing
userbase view.

It sounds good, but that does not currently exist. I already mentioned how some
styles totally differ from the concept of the original logo (karasa Jaga) and
how others only modify their color palette (Colibre). There is no consistency
nor at that level.

> You cannot limit the amount of UI elements appearing on

Do not get confused, we are not talking about Marketing and even only part of
what is Branding (visual identity). Come on, I'm not talking about changing
everything, you can match with the interface of a specific system by imitating
its design of "folder", "format", "undo", etc. Only maintain a consistent
visual identity that would apply to the logo and its derivatives.

What is not professional is not to consider it for a project as big as
LibreOffice. On the other hand if you want to improve the "look and feel" in
general, you can propose to improve the current visual elements, so that they
fit modern design trends.

> If we need something to represent apps in marketing papers, then better come
> with something very stylized and not related to icons in start center,

That is what is currently used!

> which

>

In practice it is the same and I insist, I mentioned that particular example
because it is the most obvious, but there are other places where those icons
are used.

> Also, I don't believe in a need to insist on "branding" for *users* of our

Irony never brings a healthy discussion.

Nevermind, do you really believe that the intangible image of LibreOffice is so
solid to omit a clear visual identity? You can not put the customization above
everything else. The end user can always choose because thanks to FLOSS he can
do it, but that does not mean that there should not be minimum criteria of the
software that distributes TDF directly.

Also, I don't believe in a need to insist on "branding" for *users* of our
software, who decide to customize. It's like "we insist that our app must look
this way, because "we want branding" - for unclear reason, maybe to keep
reminding you, our existing user, that you are using our app, because we
believe you may have forgotten that fact, and we won't let you choose a
different look of some elements, because of BRANDING!!! Or - maybe we
consider *your workplace* our advertising facility, anticipating anyone
approaching your monitor to get that BRANDING, and we don't care what you, our
user, thinks about that"?

2019-06-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52430

Dear robert,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

2019-06-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116213

Dear Chris Sherlock,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Warm Regards,
QA Team

Dear Hermann Döppes,

Please read this message in its entirety before proceeding.

Your bug report is being closed as INSUFFICIENTDATA due to inactivity and
a lack of information which is needed in order to accurately
reproduce and confirm the problem. We encourage you to retest
your bug against the latest release. If the issue is still
present in the latest stable release, we need the following
information (please ignore any that you've already provided):

a) Provide details of your system including your operating
system and the latest version of LibreOffice that you have
confirmed the bug to be present

b) Provide easy to reproduce steps – the simpler the better

c) Provide any test case(s) which will help us confirm the problem

d) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

e) Read all comments and provide any requested information

Once all of this is done, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED
and we will attempt to reproduce the issue. Please do not:

a) respond via email

b) update the version field in the bug or any of the other details
on the top section of our bug tracker

Warm Regards,
QA Team

Dear sawakaze,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126074] Icon styles should not modify official application icons in start center (and other relevant places)

2019-06-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126074

I - again - suppose that having guidelines to icon creation when the icon is
based on the official logo - is enough, vs making app icons part of the
"branding". You cannot limit the amount of UI elements appearing on different
marketing materials, and if any of them would then fall into that category of
"we want branding", we'll end up in a miserable state of having part of UI
"customized" to match environment, and other - highly prominent - parts
visually different-styled, creating very unprofessional, very untidy look and
feel.

If we need something to represent apps in marketing papers, then better come
with something very stylized and not related to icons in start center, which
would represent e.g. activity, not buttons used to start the apps. This way,
you decouple the icons and marketing.

Still NOTABUG imo, with a possible need to have a different issue about the
said app-graphics for marketing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126097] New: Exporting creates jagged outlines on text that has been converted to curves/polygons/contours

2019-06-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126097

Bug ID: 126097
Summary: Exporting creates jagged outlines on text that has
been converted to curves/polygons/contours
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.0.beta2+
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mwtjunkm...@gmail.com

Description:
In Draw, I convert certain text objects (Shape-->Convert). In 6.2.4.2, this
worked fine when exporting, but in 6.3.2 alpha 2, the converted shapes
inappropriately render the outlines as black, even when the outlined shapes
have their line set to NONE or to a color matching the text.
See the attached Draw file and the exported PNG that created it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Draw
2. Type text into a text box and change the color of the text to other than
black.
3. Convert the text to a shape (Shape--> Convert)
4. Select polygon, curve, or contour (the result is the same regardless)
5. Select File, Export
6. Choose any graphical output format other than windows metafile (PING, GIF,
TIFF)

Actual Results:
The output clearly shows black outlines on a shape where no black outlines
existed in the ODT document (because we set our text color to something other
than black when converting).

Expected Results:
The output should reflect the formatting for the text that we converted to a
shape with no ugly black jagged outline.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
6.2.4.2 does not have this bug. I am not using OpenGL.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126096] New: Hyperlink to in-document target adds path when exported to PDF from Draw

2019-06-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126096

Bug ID: 126096
Summary: Hyperlink to in-document target adds path when
exported to PDF from Draw
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lroll...@in-con.com

This only occurs in Draw:
When a hyperlink target is specified in the current document and is then
exported to PDF, the link incorrectly contains the path.

In other components:
The link correctly contains only the local bookmark

Steps to reproduce:
Create a new Draw document
Add at least one additional page
Add an object
Select the object and Insert -> Hyperlink
Select "Document" on the left
Click the button to the right of Target and select a page
Export as PDF

Sanity check:
Do the same in Writer but create a Heading 1 on page 2 for the target

Confirmed on Windows 10 Ent 64-bit en-US with
Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 4808ae1c73597726c89936f5b9cb3f11c9a4a7bf
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@42, Branch:master, Time: 2019-06-25_01:14:33
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: CL

With default rendering (CPU only or HA), the widget button color swatch is
black. But with OpenGL enabled, the widget button gets correct color swatch.

Color swatches are correct on same system with 6.2.4.2 build both default and
OpenGL rendering.

It's supposed it was resolved
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88027, but I think not the
issue remains for me with Spanish.

The workaround it's define a shortcut without the shift key in the combination.

FTR, this is working with the official build

But apparently the issue can be seen downstream in at least debian/ubuntu and

Thanks for checking, Nico.
Fixed is the status (anyway for us) when there is a clear commit that made it
work. If that's not the case, we set as WorksForMe.

You deserve it ;)

Which system do you use? If it is Ubuntu and the packages from Ubuntu: Did you
install all needed packages for Report-Builder?
