[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126384] New: Crash if I open the "more numbering" dialog and click any option of written-out numbers

2019-07-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126384

Bug ID: 126384
Summary: Crash if I open the "more numbering" dialog and click
any option of written-out numbers
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: xra...@gmail.com

Description:
It crashes when I try to make a numbered list like "1st, 2nd, 3rd" or "First,
Second, Third". I put "Writer" in the "component" here but it happens on
Impress and Draw too (inside text boxes). As a result, I cannot make a
written-out automatic numbered list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the "more numbering" dialog
2. Go to the "customise" tab
3. Try to select any of the options "First, Second, Third", "One, Two, Three"
or "1st, 2nd, 3rd"

Actual Results:
Crash

Expected Results:
A written-out numbered list

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I have restarted in safe mode to no avail. Open GL is disabled. This is the
latest version I know how to install on my system, from Debian
stretch-backports

Version: 6.1.5.2
Build ID: 1:6.1.5-3~bpo9+1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.9; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2;
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Dear Simon,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

It behaves odd.
There is *no* logic or regular behavior for me.
After first opening with a list, closing, removing list, typing text... the
meny entry "New Style From Selection" is greyed out.. SHft+F11 work and show
the Page Style in my situation.

Gábor!
The Libreoffice can use different RTL texts, not only Old Hungarian. You must
set, which one want to use. So you need choose "none" identifier setting CTL
scripts. After that you need to choose the font, what you want to you use for
the CTL language, the font's need to have entries in unicode range for that
language.
Old Hungarian texts need to use u10c80-u10cff codepage's letters. It seems,
your letters does not use this area, that because your keyboard layout and
fonts doesn't work as you want. It seems, you want use non standard font which
has glyps override another language page, maybe latin(?) area.
When you developed your font, the part of UNICODE standard did not existed.(You
dated 2012) Please look the desription of UNICODE range u10c80-u10cff. Find on
page of UNICODE ,between charts on www.unicode.org ! And after that develope
your font, compatible with UNICODE.
So it is not our bug.

Isn't this a duplicate of
bug 123591 or bug 126268 ?

There are some problems with numbers with decimal places, when importing from
Calc or other databases to the internal Firebird database. This bug looks the
same way like
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126281

I will close this one as a duplicate of bug 123591, which will be fixed in LO
6.3.0.2

The problem remains.

Since LO's website offers 6.2, I assume that's a major version, and I have
6.2.4.2.0+ (Build ID 6.2.4.2-4.fc30; CPU threads 2; OS Linux 5.1; UI render:
default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US; Calc:
threaded).

Alt alone causes underlining but doesn't open a menu and, I think, shouldn't
(LO wouldn't know from alt alone which menu to open, thus I disagree with
comment 6).

But alt-f opens the file menu. If I let it go too quickly, the menu closes. I
have to keep it open long enough that the first submenu opens. Then I can let
the keyboard go because the menu and the submenu will stay open for my next
decision. I limited my testing this time to Writer and the File and Format
(alt-o) menus, but the problem probably remains for Calc and for having nothing
open. By releasing quickly, I was able to reproduce the problem ten times
consecutively with alt-o.

(In reply to TorrAB from comment #10)

The valid 'bug' here is difference in behavior of Word selection.

A double mouse click correctly selects to full word bounds, with correct
handling of NPC as expected.

A customized shortcut assigned the 'Select Word' UNO action does not. And in
fact is loosing its position passing over the NPC and selecting the preceeding
word's text run!

With shortcut assigned for Select Word, open attachment 152495

Position text cursor to the word 'efgh' and enter the shortcut. Selection jumps
backward to the ' ' word. Whilst a double mouse click will select the '
efgh'.

Similar misbehavior if positioned at ' CDEF'. A double mouse click will select
the word, but using the shortcut 'Word Select' will jump backward and select
',;:!* '

'non-breaking spaces or any other special space […] don't separate one word
from the other'. True.
But, try this again: Put cursor between f and g, hit ~w: the 4 dashes are
selected, but 'efgh' (which was targeted) is NOT! NAB, really?

I see you have gtk2 there. What if you use gtk3? Which Linux distribution are
you using? I think they should all ship builds with the gtk3 backend now.

To force a specific backend, you can launch from the command line with

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk libreoffice

Then inspect Help - About: VCL to confirm.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126380] New: [Feature request] Glue points: Add copy & paste operations, upon selection of them

2019-07-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126380

Bug ID: 126380
Summary: [Feature request] Glue points: Add copy & paste
operations, upon selection of them
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lcdgoncal...@gmail.com

When preparing templates for diagrams, specially those with curved boundaries
and with more than one glue point, this feature can be a time saver.

For instance, for digital OR and AND gates (which I'm currently preparing) the
inputs can be from 2 to 4 glue points; such points could be then copied from
one prepared component to the other and displaced accordingly to match the
contour. Or, for instance, copied from a prepared AND gate to a NAND gate with
minor adjustments.

Some examples of such diagrams can be found at
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Digital_Circuits/Gates
or, more elaborate with 3 inputs diagrams, at
https://mindhunter74.wordpress.com/2011/04/25/xor-the-interesting-gate/

This sounds like bug 103625, which was unfortunately automatically closed due
to no response from the reporter.

To drink from logging firehose, one could use a debug build and SAL_LOG:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123150] FIREBIRD: Query with 'LIKE' fails with error "malformed string", when index is set for the field of the condition of the query

We need to specify the character set of the connection between the server and
the sdbc driver too.

This can be done using the isc_dpb_lc_ctype DPB parameter option as documented
in the Interbase API reference[1].

I have a patch on gerrit for that:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/75557/

The issue is present only when an index is specified to that column. It seems
without specifying the isc_dpb_lc_ctype parameter the use of non-ascii
characters in a literal is unspecified behavior.

That is a new problem. And kde5 should also be hit by it. I'll have a look, if
I can find something obvious, that is different for qt5 and kde5 in this
regard, but I currently have no idea.

If you're interested in debugging this, please open a new bug report. Both qt5
and qt5+cairo work for me with Qt 5.11. It might be a bug in the older Qt
version...

Does a master daily build work for you with qt5 / qt5+cairo?

Technically kde5 uses qt5 for almost everything. Very little code uses kf5
specific calls in kde5.

qt5 implements two rendering paths, which mainly affect the font handling and
text layout: naive QPainter and Cairo. Native qt5 uses Qt's drawing, font and
text layout functions. qt5+cairo uses LO's own text layout functions, which
just use cairo for drawing. In the end this uses Cairo for most drawing
operations and the resulting Cairo surface is just blitted to the QImage on
paint. This way we guarantee that the kde5 layout looks the same then all the
other unix backends. And as you can see it, native Qt needs much more work.
Everything else, which is still a lot, uses common Qt code.

Ok, I see and now I always check this information.

I'm sorry, I've checked this before others checks and this works fine. I see
"kde5" in "About LO" as you expected.

I've tried to run win cairo, but result is roughly the same - no main window
appeared, but LO doesn't use 100% CPU, but hanged.

But as I can understand, kde5 uses Qt5 framework and it works fine. How could
it happen?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126352] “Create Style” Dialogue Does not Work Correctly if Opened via Menu or Toolbar

But if you make selection of a word or character with some 'Character' style
applied you get exactly that style and its parents. So again the logic of the
"Create Style" dialog is based on what selection is made.

Remaining issue when opening a new "empty" document and getting the 'List'
styles is wrong. It acts like no selection on canvas defaults to the 'List'
styles, and that is not right it should probably be 'Paragraph' styles.

But by giving it a touch, i.e. first opening 'Character' dialog or 'Page'
dialog, the Create Style dialog responds to use that as parent style type. So
there is ability to control the style type when no paragraph, word or character
selection is made.

Unfortunately opening the 'Paragraph' dialog, or the 'Bullets and Numbering'
dialog on an new "empty" document still results in the 'List' style type
default--so something is not correct.

=> NEW

Great, so your Qt5 is >= 5.6 and the "QT_NO_VERSION_TAGGING" fix works as
expected.

Just make sure to always check "About LO", as LO will use a fallback, if a
plugin doesn't work. SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN is just a user preference but doesn't
enforce anything.

And you didn't test the most interesting use case: not using SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN
/ normal startup :-)
Automatically it should select "kde5" for you and "just work (TM)". Does it
work for you?

> According to sysprof qt5 spends most of the time somewhere in libfontconfig.

The font registration for qt5 is slow, because Qt always parses the whole font.
There is a reason why it's never selected automatically. You could switch it
from QPainter to Cairo by using SAL_VCL_QT5_USE_CAIRO=1, which is the same the
kde5 plugin does. Still even for a lot of fonts it shouldn't use more then a
minute.

And there is some font variant naming problem in Qt. Somehow Qt misses some
fonts on startup from fontconfig and LO tries to register them. Anyway qt5 +
QPainter is considered experimental playground. This needs additional work, but
we had enough bugs with kde5, so work on it is postponed (there are also
pending patches to run qt5 on Windows and MacOS).

> > Can you try, if the current daily build is fixed regarding the menu?

Great :-)

So except for the automatic selection test it looks like we're good for 6.2.6
with regard to these crashes.

Can you test without SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN too?

I've tested following packages:

with:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde4 libreofficedev6.2 - works perfectly for me, no visual
issues.
  SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde5 libreofficedev6.2 - starts without error messages,
'kde5' is shown in About LibreOfficeDev window.
  SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5  libreofficedev6.2 - hangs at splash screen,
soffice.bin runs at 100% CPU usage but nothing happens.

According to sysprof it spends most of the time somewhere in libfontconfig.
