[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126906] New: Libre Writer Locks Up Itself and the Whole GNOME Desktop Upon Pasting Web Page Contents

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126906

Bug ID: 126906
Summary: Libre Writer Locks Up Itself and the Whole GNOME
Desktop Upon Pasting Web Page Contents
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: launch...@startport.com

Description:
Libre Office Writer locks up itself and the entire GNOME desktop when you paste
into it the contents of a web page that contains numerous large pictures and
text.

Steps to Reproduce:
I have 64GB of RAM in my laptop. I expect everyone can reproduce this by
strictly following these steps:

1) Allow this page to fully load in firefox (in a new tab):
http://www.amorosity.com/SlingBlade/
(wait until the page is finished loading)

2) Click into the page (to give it focus) and then hit ctrl-a (to select all
contents in the page), then hit ctrl-c (coping the entire page's contents into
memory).

3) Open LibreOffice writer, and paste your clipboard into a blank page.

Actual Results:
>From this point forward, LibreOffice Writer will be unusable, and the whole
GNOME desktop will lock up (for almost a whole minute) each time you try to
navigate the LibreOffice Writer page.

Expected Results:
I expect the application to either efficiently handle the task or decline to
handle the task.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
So, this is a bug in LibreOffice Writer for sure; if it can't handle the work,
it should decline it.

Additionally, this is bug in the GNOME desktop, because no single application's
workload should ever be allowed to lock up a multi-task desktop environment.

Screencast short video to show this issue in action

As u can see in this screencast video, I corrected my spelling mistake of using
built-in library word. From "voilation" to correct word "violation".

It would be a great lifehack if there is automation in this.
People make these kinds simple silly of mistakes quite often.

So, it would be a great lifehack if there is some sort of way to show an error,
and when we move our cursor upon it, it shows the correct suggested words to
click upon. Or some sort of shortkey to toggle "Always correct to" words.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126897] Cell Drawing End of Content Rather than Beginning of Content

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I'm confused. The attached screenshots show a cell in Calc, where the text
"Selecting 'Close' on Editing a unit..." is not visible in the cell, and a
screenshot from Numbers where that text is visible in the cell and the text
that is not visible is the end ("... close without saving?").

Basically, for a cell with long text, Calc is showing the end of that text
rather than the beginning, which is not expected behavior.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: d.j.ba...@frontier.com

Description:
In LO Calc: Right click on a row number shows expected pull down menu, but only
on
the first instance after opening the file. On the second instance several
commands are no longer present. For example, "Delete Rows" disappears entirely.
This is a partially protected sheet, but the rows in question should allow
deletion.
This problem does not occur in LO v6.2.5.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the file and select "Sheet2".
2.Right-click on row 9 - "Delete Rows" option is seen.
3.Press "Escape" to close the menu, then right-click again - "Delete Rows"
option is gone.

Actual Results:
Same as above!

Expected Results:
The "Delete Rows" option should remain present in the menu and functional as a
command.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: d.j.ba...@frontier.com

Description:
In Calc 6.3.0.4: Issuing a right arrow either manually or via macro code causes
a large
column jump on a mostly protected sheet. Right arrow navigation should halt at
the last
unprotected column ("N" in this case) as it does in version 6.2.5. Instead, a
further right
arrow causes a jump to column "BM". Further right arrows allow column jumps to
the right
even though all those cells are all protected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the file and press right arrow to column "N" (7 times)
2.Pressing once more (8th time) will cause an unexpected cursor jump to column
"BM".
3.In this partially protected sheet, columns beyond "N" should not be
selectable.

Actual Results:
Same as Above!

Expected Results:
In previous LO Calc version (6.2.5), the cursor would not move further after
pressing the
right arrow key once the last unprotected column was reached (expected
behavior).

Doing so will move the box, not resize it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126900] New: Confusing UX for Cell Navigation / Moving Image if Image Selected in Cell

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126900

Bug ID: 126900
Summary: Confusing UX for Cell Navigation / Moving Image if
Image Selected in Cell
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: t...@alumni.brown.edu

Description:
If I have a cell with an inline image, which I've selected for saving, and then
I left- or right-arrow navigate, I can get stuck in a confusing toggle that
doesn't wind up moving me through all cells (so I'm not navigating cells), nor
am I moving the image.

If I stop long enough, I can move the image in one direction but not
necessarily the other.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a sheet with an inline image.
2. Click the inline image.
3. Left-arrow.

Actual Results:
Continuing to click the left arrow causes a weird toggle between the two cells
in which the image might have a footprint (although it's only actually in one
of the cells).

Expected Results:
I guess I'd assume that the image would move rather than cycling me between the
two cells in which the image has a visual footprint.

Reproducible: Always

Shape with zigzag line as custGeom with LineJoint = "Miter"

The attached file contains a zigzag line as custGeom shape with lnTo commands.
The problem can be seen too if you use the shape "Callout Bent Line" in
PowerPoint. In that case drag the handles, so that you get a sharp corner. Test
it with a large line width to make the joint types better visible.

If you open the file and re-save it to pptx in LibreOffice and then open the
re-saved file, the line joint "Miter" is gone and line joint "Round" is used.

The information is correctly read and I see the correct values in in the shape
in the Basic IDE. The method DrawingML::WriteOutline() gets the case
aStyleLineJoint == eLineJoint when treating the property LineJoint and thus
does not write the a:miter element at the shape. But if you examine the
re-saved file, you will notice, that the element is missing in all
childs of the .

In case of export from our own format there exists no scheme and the
element is written at the shape. Therefore there the error does not happen.

Reproducible on LibreOffice 6.3.1.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 18.04 x86-64.

Summary: Text alignment "Justified" last line "start" not

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)

Screen shot of 2-column paper

See attachment. I'm trying to write a 2-column research paper in outline
format. I want Justified. Yet the last line of every paragraph is ruined,
even though Last Line is set to Start. The text is in outline format. It
doesn't even recognize the last line of a numbered section to be the end of a
paragraph. The attachment is a horizontal slice of a 2-column research paper.
Note how in the left column, spacing is horrible in last line of paragraph.
New paragraph was created with Shift-Enter, the only way I know to start a new
paragraph in an outline without it striking a new outline number. (No other way
to insert a "new paragraph" indication.) Now look at the right column.
Surely, the end of a numbered outline section should be considered to be the
end of a paragraph, yet it isn't.

Running on MacOS 10.13.6, High Sierra.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126866] Iteration not only bug-laden, but neglected and misunderstood

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126866

There is a more or less sophisticated bunch of mechanisms for: controlling
excess iterations; making counters and buffer resettable; only allowing buffer
advancing after some time; keeping a buffer (and changing only one row at a
time); detecting if the edit box is cleared, and absorbing one extra char at a
time; and to slalom the bugs. The reference values are randomly generated at
Sheet1.D36. I don't think there's much more relevant to say, but of course I
can give any more details if you want.

> Even the attachment doesn't describe clearly what should be done and what
> should be observed, and what is the expected result, to see bugs.
There are bugs already explicit or hinted there; let's start with them, as I'm
already getting specific.
$Sheet1.A3: "you probably will have to press ctrl+shift+f9 (hard recalc)
occasionally." means that soft recalc is not enough. Particularly, the
ever-unneeded "Err:523" disappears on hard recalc for some reason.
$Sheet1.C5: "(in libreoffice, this has been necessary to force iterative
updates without hard recalc.)" refers to including things such as +0*RAND() or
+0*NOW() to make iteration keep going on soft recalcs, since those 2 functions
force recalc to work (or for strings, (0*$B$5,";;;")).
$Sheet1.C6: "(this should match your iteration settings.)" currently there's no
function, even in other apps, to inform a spreadsheet on the set number of
iterations, which for some purposes has to be compensated, or even better,
should be changed on a per-formula basis by a function wrapping the original
formula.
Also, "Err:523" pops randomly in the buffer even when nothing has changed, and
eventually covers the "your input" field. There's really no apparent or
reasonable pattern in that. I had the idea of posting that screenshot, in case
the bug doesn't happen with you. I could work my way around the other bugs, but
this one (the "your input" and "valid" fields covered up) is the last straw,
making the spreadsheet unusable. Unless you throw a hard recalc after every
digit you type (in the edit box), and quick enough.

Of course my statements shouldn't be based on telepathy or delusion, and my
point was not about specific minds like yours. I guess I couldn't believe the
state of maturity of the feature, given all these years, and given the other
apps, so LibreOffice remains unworkable for iteration. After the initial
frustration I searched about it in more than one LibreOffice site, like I said,
and anyway it's all out there for you all to see -- what's probably missing is
someone involved that has (or gets) a different view, and sees that several
things are wrong. Every time I refer to LibreOffice team, I refer to what I've
seen on the sites. Although I'll never force you to think or speak the same way
as I did, I still think what I described as some non-computer bug has the
attributes of a bug. Of course, whether it will auto-heal in a decentralized
manner, or needs to be tracked, is a different story.

Have you seen Kohei Yoshida's words on bug 0, comments #5 and #6? What does
it mean, "invokes an entirely different calculation engine"??? Well, why do I
care.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126894] New: Update Issues on Windows 10/Linux Mint 19.2 and Ubuntu 19.04

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126894

Bug ID: 126894
Summary: Update Issues on Windows 10/Linux Mint 19.2 and Ubuntu
19.04
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0 all versions
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mariusgeis...@web.de

Description:
Hello,

I'm having issues updating Libre Office on all my systems. In Windows 10 the
build-in Updater hasn't worked for the some time, now. Yesterday I realized
that the update function, using apt and snap, isn't working on my Laptop with
Linux Mint 19.2 and Ubuntu 19.04 (run in an VM). The only way, that is working
seems to be the manual update by downloading the package from the website or on
Ubuntu using the softwarecenter and reinstall the newest version from there.

Thanks in advance

Steps to Reproduce:
1.In windows using the build in Updater. In linux I tried apt and snap for
updates but neither worked.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The newest version is installed although in the Info it says that it is an
older version. It were different versions so I cant reproduce which ones it
were but definetly 6.0 and newer.

Expected Results:
Actually having the newest version installed or at least an failure notice.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126866

I put "convergence" under quotes because it's a plain simple delta; there's
absolutely no convergence being checked, and indeed there shouldn't be. Even if
there were, it should be presented as a warning (like that little triangle
Excel occasionally puts on the top-right of a cell), not an error hiding the
value; but that checking would cost CPU time.

If your number varies by 0.1, under default settings, it's said it does not
converge. If your rescale things so that it varies by 0.0001, it is literally
"convergent". "Furtiveness" would be a better term for this. For those things,
I called the "convergence" check uneducated.

Even if the formula is judged to give nonconvergent results (and the results
get censored), the underlying iteration is never paused. Later I may paste all
this into a new bug report if you need. While I surely wanted to scorn the
anti-feature thoroughly, I apologize some of the anger spilled to the
originators of the distracted artifact. (I didn't even mention about trying to
use iteration with strings.)

   Version: 6.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lio...@mamane.lu

Description:
The reproduction document has two sections (named Section1 and Section2,
respectively) inside the frame, one visible and one not visible. The UI calls
that "hidden" but the actual property is "IsVisible" and the negation of the UI
"hidden" checkbox.

The button launches a Basic procedure that toggles the visibility of the two
sections. Correct behaviour ("the macro works correctly") is that the section
visible before procedure execution is hidden, and the section hidden before
procedure execution is visible. Incorrect behaviour is that one or both
sections are not toggled.

For ease of observation, each section contains the text saying that that
section is visible, and the Basic procedure checks whether the change it
requested has been performed, and indicates success or failure in a pop-up
MessageBox.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set Macro security to medium (or low)
2. Open reproduction document
3. Accept macro execution (if prompted, i.e. macro security is on medium)
4. Click button (repeatedly)
5. Select the frame
6. Cut (Cntrl-X)
7. Paste (Cntrl-V)
8. Click button (once, repeatedly, ...)
9. save document
10. Use menu Format / Sections to see that the two sections are still there,
and still have the same name, and its visibility can be successfully changed

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126891] New: Two-touch Horizontal Scrolling on TouchPad in macOS Reversed

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126891

Bug ID: 126891
Summary: Two-touch Horizontal Scrolling on TouchPad in macOS
Reversed
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: t...@alumni.brown.edu

Description:
If I open Numbers (Apple's spreadsheet application), it uses the current macOS
metaphor for two-touch scrolling such that I slide my two fingers to the left
to move my field of view to the right.

In Calc in LibreOffice, by contrast, the scrolling is reversed, which makes
usability pretty unfortunate.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a spreadsheet with enough content that horizontal scrolling is
required.
2. Slide two fingers to the left.
3. Get frustrated.

Actual Results:
I have to slide two fingers to the right to shift my field of view to the
right.

Expected Results:
I would expect the horizontal scrolling to reflect expected macOS best
practices.

Reproducible: Always

Just for information, it seems the no-break spaces aren't managed by the quoted
xml files.

Also, I don't think LO manages second level quotations but since I'm not an
expert at all, I may be wrong.

Also since changing to 6.3.0.4, I find that form fields (check box, option
button, etc) continually flicker and take a lot of CPU load. They stop
flickering in design mode.
Is this a 'feature'? How do I stop it?
Unless there is a good fix for this, I will have to revert to an earlier
version.

@Uwe:
There is no maybe involved regarding app notarization on macOS 10.15
(Catalina).
Quote:
Mac apps, installer packages, and kernel extensions that are signed with
Developer ID must also be notarized by Apple in order to run on macOS Catalina.
Weblink:
https://developer.apple.com/developer-id/
The relevant text starts on the middle of the page.

I am happy to open a new bug report on this but I think it directly involves
the language installation process (because the LO package is changed by it) and
not just the notarization of the LO app (which needs to be a separate "bug"
report).

@Frank: Whatever Apple may do or not do in the future and whatever this may

Maybe(!) somewhere in future this will result in a then NEW bugreport!

Would like the ability to open one of our construction prints that are always
in PDF, draw a "Scale" line over a known dimension/length anywhere on the
drawing. Then it "calibrates" the drawing for print with a scale line and for
doing dimension lines in the drawing itself. Would also be nice to have it
show the measurement in Feet-Inches on the dimension line text when drawing in
a dimension(eg; 24'-7") or (24' 7-1/4). Also a feature i would be willing to
pay a bounty for.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124108] auto-correction of typographic quotation marks and apostrophes broken for fr_CI

2019-08-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124108

To open a double quotation mark use the following sequence:

Either:
– U+00AB LEFT-POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK
– U+00A0 NO-BREAK SPACE [NBSP]

Or:
– U+00AB LEFT-POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK
– U+202F NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE [NNBSP]

To close a double quotation mark use the following sequence:

Either:
– U+00A0 NO-BREAK SPACE [NBSP]
– U+00BB RIGHT-POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK

Or:
– U+202F NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE [NNBSP]
– U+00BB RIGHT-POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK

This should be valid in all the countries you have listed.

> ‘ :for QuotationStart and QuotationEnd

If this is about second level citations or quotation marks, than: No, this is
wrong. There are different opinions about how second level quotation marks
should look like in French typography, but none of these opinions is about
using U+0027 APOSTROPHE. It might be either “like this” or ‹ like this ›, see
also
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillemet#Double_ou_triple_niveau_de_citation.
Also LibreOffice’s fr_FR.xml seems a little bit strange in this sense.

Anyway, for the normal apostrophe usage, always U+2019 RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION
MARK is the right choise.
