[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127168] New: "Ranges containing merged cells…" modal dialog underlays Autofilter pull-down
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127168 Bug ID: 127168 Summary: "Ranges containing merged cells…" modal dialog underlays Autofilter pull-down Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.4 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com Description: When using the Autofilter pull-down menu to sort a column, the sort will fail if the spreadsheet contains vertically merged cells -- this is a separate issue documented in Bug 85807. The problem I am reporting is that LibreOffice reports this failure by popping up a focus-stealing modal error dialog *underneath* the Autofilter pull-down menu. This has two unfortunate consequences: 1) Depending on the placement of the pull-down menu, it can be impossible to read the error message. 2) At least on my windowing system (KDE Plasma), the modal dialog cannot be moved or resized, and steals focus not just within the LibreOffice Calc application but from all other windows. So it is basically impossible to use the computer for anything until the error dialog is dismissed, but it is not obvious how to do this as the dialog's "OK" button is hiding behind the Autofilter pull-down. You either need to blindly click on the unlabelled edges of the "OK" button or else press the Escape key. Steps to Reproduce: Also attached is a sample spreadsheet for triggering the bug. Use the following steps to reproduce: 1. Open the attached spreadsheet. 2. Activate the Autofilter pull-down menu in cell A1. 3. Select "Sort Ascending" or "Sort Descending". Actual Results: 4. The above-described focus-stealing modal error dialog pops up underneath the pull-down menu. Attached is a screenshot showing what the problematic behaviour looks like. Expected Results: 4. The modal error dialog should pop up *over* the pull-down menu, and it should not steal focus from other programs. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127167 Bug ID: 127167 Summary: Draw Print Dialog: Preview gives totally wrong information about the real print Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.4 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Printing and PDF export Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rob...@familiegrosskopf.de Created attachment 153665 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=153665&action=edit Open the document. Shows the screenshots for the reported bug Open the attached document and have a look at the different preview in the dialog for printing with draw since LO 6.3.0.4. (Sorry for the big screenshots - but the dialog isn't sizeable in GTK3 and fills nearly the whole screen ... another bug). I have tried to print a page with user-defined 564 mm width and 400 mm height. The dialog sets Page Layout to A4. Values between print preview (356mm/216mm) and A4 (297mm/210mm)doesn't match. Changed to tab LibreOffice Draw. Changed Size → Distribute on multiple sheets of paper. Preview shows format A4 portrait. The content "Schnellbahnnetz" is shown as format A4 landscape. Switched to the second paper. It will be shown A4 landscape. The content will also been shown as A4 landscape, but it is (in the document) defined as nearly A2, which is about 4*A4! Page 3 shows a part of the "Schnellbahnnetz" in A4-landscape. This part is also shown in page 1 and page 2, but it will be originally printed so. Page 4 will show a part, which is printed in page 3 also. Back to page 1 now. It will show the right values for A4-landscape and the whole content of "Schnellbahnnetz", which is 564 mm width and 400 mm height. It will be printed as 297 mm width and 210 mm height. You will get one page, which prints the whole content (as "Fit to printable page") and 3 pages, which will show diffent parts of the first page in the same size, which is much too small. All tested with LO 6.3.0.4 an OpenSUSE 15 64bit rpm Linux. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127140 --- Comment #7 from Jan-Marek Glogowski --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #6) > @Mike, Jan-Marek -- are we happy that our implementation of Win7 Jump Lists > remains correct (though maybe obscured by Windows UWP shell changes)? I'm no Windows user. I'm fixing VCL bugs on any platform, if needed, but really can't say much about user experience. If these "jump lists" are the way Windows handles recent documents nowadays and it works with LO, we're fine. So I searched for "Windows UWP" and now I know it's the acronym for "Universal Windows Platform". No idea how that would fit in here, but probably also needs an extra bug report, if we have to make changes to be UWP-compatible (if that even exists). (In reply to Tracey C from comment #0) > Expected Results: > These options would be available whether the program was open or closed. We have to rely on the OS support here. So if we miss an opportunity here, I would like to get it documented, so someone can implement it, eventually. > On all 3 OS's > 1 - The menu shows recent documents If it's possible to add these "jump lists" as a submenu, then I don't have any objections about adding the "jump lists" to the right click menu of the icon or as a File menu entry. > 2 - There is an option to pin documents to a list of pinned documents That is a completely different enhancement request. I don't know if any OS offers support for this in the context of recent document handling (or even outside), but I guess that would need some LO-only implementation, to save a "pinned documents" list. I don't think these could be available as part of the recent file lists. Should be handled in an extra bug report IMHO. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119470 Robert Großkopf changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rob...@familiegrosskopf.de --- Comment #5 from Robert Großkopf --- Have tested this with LO 6.3.0.4 on OpenSUSE 15 64bit rpm Linux. Doesn't work. The print will give the whole content on the first page and parts of the content on the other pages. The new dialog will show different content in the preview when scrolling through the page. I open the dialog and it shows in tab LibreOffice Draw when choosing "Distribute on multiple sheets of paper" the portrait-format of the paper A4 of my printer. The document has landscape format A2. The print-preview will print a A4 landscape-format on 2 A4 portrait-format-pages. I could see this when switching to the second page of preview. Going back to the first par shows the preview in landscape-format. It will print the A2-format on a A4-format page. There isn't fixed a bug with this dialog. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127123 --- Comment #6 from Pedro --- > Consider more than one projects where completely different fonts are used. > Would be annoying to list the arty Comic for your thesis, right? In the > other (more common) scenario you create similar documents where the > preferred font should always be at hand. So what actually is need is both, > per document and some kind of favorite. I would make this a duplicate of bug > 91130. What do you think, Pedro? I disagree. Bug 911130 refers to something completely different. >My idea is that the font name drop down list will begin with containing only a >>short list of fonts that are commonly used and available on a user's system >(e.g. >Liberation Serif, Times New Roman, Liberation Sans, Arial, etc) and >additional >fonts will be added to the list according to the following >scenarios. >1) A user opens a document which contains fonts not already shown in the list >2) A user clicks on a 'More Fonts...' entry at the bottom of the list and >selects >to use a particular font in the character dialog's font tab Now, the discussion over there drifted to overlap this bug. IMO, the use case you mention is something different. It's to have a list of preferred fonts at the top of the drop-down list, NOT the most recently used. That's something that could be done in a different manner: allow the user to pin fonts to the top of the drop-down menu. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127115] language-agnostic styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127115 Regina Henschel changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de --- Comment #7 from Regina Henschel --- The problem is this: Actually, language is a property of character portions. However, the paragraph can have a default language. This is used if the characters do not have their own language setting. The problem in your case is, that if you select an entire paragraph, then the choosen language is not applied to the characters, but it is set as default language into the paragraph. If you then apply a new paragraph style it will use the default of that new style. For to set a language to a portion of text, define a _character_ style with that language. To change the language of the text portion, apply that style. In this case the "portion" may be an entire paragraph. If you look into the generated file, the difference is, whether a element with a "Tn" (or your own character style name) style exists, or there is only the element with a "Pn" (or your own paragraph style name) style. There is indeed a UX problem: It is not clear, what happens, if an entire paragraph is selected and something is done with this selection. Sometimes the setting is uses as paragraph property, sometimes as character property. Only the assignment of a character style seems to reliably generate the elements, needed for multi-language documents. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127142 --- Comment #5 from Maxim Monastirsky --- (In reply to Dieter Praas from comment #1) There's some confusion here: The items in the context menu are applying styles (they correspond to the same items under the Styles menu), while the items in Format > List menu are about direct formatting (they correspond to the toolbar bullet and numbering toggle buttons). So: > different names: "Bullet list" ans "number list" in context menu; "bulleted > list" and "numbered list" in Format => list Given that they're not the same, not necessarily they need to have same names. > in Format => List you can remove list, if you click on marked "Bulleted > List"; in context menue this is not possible Right. "Bulleted List" in Format > List is about direct formatting, which you can toggle on and off, like any other direct formatting (e.g. Bold). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127145] A .wmf file is rendered with thin stroke on rounded rectangles, but should be thick.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127145 --- Comment #11 from JSR_LibreOffice --- I continued testing this with another programs with my LINUX desktop. AbiWord had problems with displaying the figure. Latest version of AbiWord is dated 20 October 2016. For comparison reasons I installed WPS Office in LINUX desktop. Installed WPS Office for LINUX is version 11.1.0.8392 (i386) created on 15 April 2019. http://wps-community.org/downloads There are new versions of WPS Office in LINUX but they are 64-bit versions and my laptop is 32-bit LINUX . Then information about tests. 1) The view on WPS Writer displays the figure correctly. The view on WPS Writer will be added after this comment. 2) Then I saved that in Word (.doc) document. When opened in LibreOffice the figure was not correct. That Word (.doc) document will be added after this comment. 3) Then I exported a PDF file from WPS Writer. Exported PDF file displays the figure correctly. That PDF document will be added after this comment. 4) When summarizing this issue it seems that there are some differences between different programs. Some programs display the figure correctly and some programs seem to have problems with the figure. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127115] language-agnostic styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127115 --- Comment #3 from l...@royal.net --- I kept on thinking about this issue and while I don't really care how it is done as long as it gets done, it is in fact an indication of a fundamental design flaw. Document can be split into two domains: content and presentation. Style - fonts, colours, spacing etс - belongs to the presentation domain, text - to the content. Text is always written in specific language, applying German language to text written in French is meaningless as it won't translate it into German - not yet anyway; language is an invariable attribute of text and belongs to the content domain which means that linking language with fonts and styles is incorrect, and the proper way of resolving this issue requires complete separation of language from the presentation domain. Language should be assigned to text not as one of the attributes of the font and shouldn't be linked to styles in any way, but should be a completely independent text attribute (which to some extent is already done via Tools-Language menu, but unless you pick a language from a 3-item frequently used list you still end up in the same font selection dialogue). Incidentally, ODF standard is similarly flawed: fo:language is the attribute of style:text-properties. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
