[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128973] Create a per-document "Paragraph style used by default" setting
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128973 --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3) > Why do we need it > flexible with "Text Body 115%" for example? It rather adds confusion since > "Make default" is easy to misinterpret. Because Text Body, like all other pre-defined styles, are just one possible set of styles user in some place. Some other user-defined set of styles might be used somewhere (there are many "do not use pre-defined styles!" advises over there; and there might be even good reasons for such a decision, e.g. in circumstances where importing others' documents should keep original formatting, and at the same time not break current document formatting, so two distinct sets of styles are needed). So hardcoding to Text Body is limiting flexibility of using styles. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128973 --- Comment #3 from Heiko Tietze --- I fully support the switch from Default to Text Body (with the needed effort around) and considering Text Body is the last resort for Reset, which by the way likely close to zero users need, is this style. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128965 Alex Thurgood changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #5 from Alex Thurgood --- @Ronald : Unfortunately, still not enough information. When you write "database connection through Java", what do you mean ? What kind of ODB file are you using ? - embedded HSQLDB ? - some other kind of JavaDB ? - some other kind of DB engine with a Java driver (JDBC) ? If we are talking about the default embedded hsqldb engine in an ODB file, then moving the ODB file to a NAS will inevitably cause a connection timeout if, for whatever reason, your Windows OS or your NAS drops the network connection, for example, to save energy, or when one or the other go to sleep... In that case, you should be reading the HSQLDB documentation for version 1.8.0 to see if there is a parameter that you can include in either the PROPERTIES file or the SCRIPT file that should be present in the ODB file (which is a type of zip container). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129002] New: Printing with the newest version of LIBRE Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) now takes a long wait times to process file after print command.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129002 Bug ID: 129002 Summary: Printing with the newest version of LIBRE Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) now takes a long wait times to process file after print command. Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Printing and PDF export Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ronaldno...@hotmail.com Description: The new version now takes me to a LIBRE preview screen whereas before it took me directly to the printer's own preview options. When selecting print, the printer dialog appears with "creating print file" which takes a very long time to process LIBRE information. Prior to the upgrade, the print command went directly to the print spool and would start printing almost immediately. This is when using wireless printing through the router which works just fine with my other computer still using the 6.2 version. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select PRINT 2.PREVIEW PRINT PAGE apprears 3.select OK to print Actual Results: The Cannon Print Dialog Box will appear on-screen with the phrase CREATING PRINT FILE for which takes up to 2-3 minutes to complete. Sometimes it will state PRINTER PORT IN USE and then switch back to CREATING PRINT FILE. Once it completes printing is normal. Expected Results: Create the file for printing immediately instead of going to the new PRINT PREVIEW page LIBRE created. It will then go to the CANON print preview as it would have initially prior to the upgrade to Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64). Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Prior to printing and between each page, the printer will do a print head cleaning which uses the ink very fast. If I take it to the printer and use the USB direct connection, printing is completed as normal, quickly, without issue. THE PRINTER USED IS A CANON PIXMA MX922, without fail prior to the upgrade to Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128993] Annoying delay of 10 seconds when opening Libreoffice Writer files
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128993 --- Comment #4 from schregen...@gmail.com --- Hello! Good and bad news: The good news is, that I found the reason for the 10-second-delay-bug: In the LibreOffice Main Application or Writer go into the navigation bar "Extras"->"Internet"->"Proxy": The default value is "System". When I change this to "Manual" or "None", and then "Apply" it, the problem is solved! That means afterwards LibreOffice immediately starts up with no delays! I only tested this on 6.2.8, but I'm pretty sure it will work likewise on the higher versions. Note that the form was empty anyways, and I didn't use any proxy settings. It is just the proxy being set to "System" (which is the default value after fresh install), which causes the 10-second-delay. The bad news is, I found another bug right at this location: When I tried to reproduce the behaviour by setting the "Proxy" back to "System" - the "System" value wasn't applied. It remained stuck at "Manual" or "None". So actually applying these 3 different options is bugged as well. In order to reproduce the solution I had to delete the LibreOffice folder in AppData in Windows 7. After doing that the "Proxy" setting resetted back to "System" (and LibreOffice had again the 10-second-delay to start up, which again was solved by changing the proxy setting to "Manual" or "None"). I hope this information helps to address this years-long bugger :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128993 schregen...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|1 |0 Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED --- Comment #3 from schregen...@gmail.com --- As requested I tried out the new versions. Unfortunately the issue still persists: 6.3.3 -> also has the 10 second delay 6.4.0.0.beta1 -> also has the 10 second delay To verify my previous observations I re-installed older versions again: 6.0.7.3 -> no delay, immediately starts up! 6.1.0.1 -> has the 10 second delay. This is actually the first occurrence of this issue (though I didn't try the alphas and betas before). Again the issue only happens if I'm connected to the internet. If I disable the internet connection it has no delays and immediately starts up. (6.0.7.3 always starts up immediately though, regardless if connected or not). I was using even older versions than 6.0.7.3 years ago and never had this issue. This issue must have been introduced somehow in 6.1.0. If it is somehow relevant how my computer accesses the Internet: it connects via a WLAN module to an Internet router. Unfortunately, the problem does not occur in this case. I do attach the document, nevertheless, so that you can look at it and see if I did not understand you correctly: "Test Base-Doc with HSQLDB - not showing the bug". Open the document, then start the only macro there is, it will list the two TypeNames and the contents of the columns, so you can see that it's in fact the first row. The code is restricted to the absolutely necessary. There is no form document. I then added a similar message box in on of my applications that uses MariaDB, but there again I could not reproduce the error. The application in this case is Calc, hence no reading of the database can have occured before the statement is executed that displays the message, which is the first situation where a rowset is used. You did not provide information about the LibO version. I tested in 6.3.3.2. I don't know how to test older versions in connection with base (for other modules there is no problem, but I don't know how to cop with older Java versions in parallel). So I cannot confirm the bug, and I can only offer two hypotheses: - You used an older LibO version - It's a problem connected with PostgreSQL But these are only assumptions, with no facts supporting them or making them probable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Durring editing insertion of a ZWNBS U+FEFF before or after the EM DASH is trivial. Annoying to have to do it, but easily done. Worth keeping open on the back burner? Although not clear it is fully resolved to all Unicode participants and ICU-8061 issue [2] remains unresolved. At some point should make it into ICU libs and be available to possibly use in LibreOffice edit engine(s). Until then it remains incumbent on users to mind their formatting. And, as suggested in the AOO see also i122337, while writing dialog one could set the AutoCorrect localized options for open and close 'Double Quotes' to U+2014 by picking the EM DASH character.
