[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128973] Create a per-document "Paragraph style used by default" setting

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128973

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3)
> Why do we need it
> flexible with "Text Body 115%" for example? It rather adds confusion since
> "Make default" is easy to misinterpret.

Because Text Body, like all other pre-defined styles, are just one possible set
of styles user in some place. Some other user-defined set of styles might be
used somewhere (there are many "do not use pre-defined styles!" advises over
there; and there might be even good reasons for such a decision, e.g. in
circumstances where importing others' documents should keep original
formatting, and at the same time not break current document formatting, so two
distinct sets of styles are needed).

So hardcoding to Text Body is limiting flexibility of using styles.

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I fully support the switch from Default to Text Body (with the needed effort
around) and considering Text Body is the last resort for Reset, which by the
way likely close to zero users need, is this style. Why do we need it flexible
with "Text Body 115%" for example? It rather adds confusion since "Make
default" is easy to misinterpret.

So my take: duplicate of bug 47295.

@Ronald : Unfortunately, still not enough information.

When you write "database connection through Java", what do you mean ?

What kind of ODB file are you using ?

- embedded HSQLDB ?
- some other kind of JavaDB ?
- some other kind of DB engine with a Java driver (JDBC) ?

If we are talking about the default embedded hsqldb engine in an ODB file, then
moving the ODB file to a NAS will inevitably cause a connection timeout if, for
whatever reason, your Windows OS or your NAS drops the network connection, for
example, to save energy, or when one or the other go to sleep...

In that case, you should be reading the HSQLDB documentation for version 1.8.0
to see if there is a parameter that you can include in either the PROPERTIES
file or the SCRIPT file that should be present in the ODB file (which is a type
of zip container).

Resetting to NEEDINFO pending requested information.

After the cell picker is closed (respectively the shrunken wizard becomes

provides the ability to change the referenced range manually into a larger
number. Full selection makes it also possible to change the reference
completely.

The behavior is wanted and working well => NAB.

It _is_ a proper DOCX file straight out of Word two years ago when I opened the
bug.

Today I tried it again using Word 16.16.15, and it works just fine and as
expected. It does not work with LO 6.3.2.2 (i.e. ToC duplicates when I update

I did the same in the original sample, in Word 2013, and the ToC stays as it
is.

I also get the ToC back in your sample, if I update the second ToC that says
"No table of contents entries found". Probably some Word strangeness is at work
(locale-based, perhaps?), but I'd say the original sample is valid. Let's
reopen the bug report.

Sorry, no. File must be a proper one. If it makes trouble in MSO, it cannot be
a reference for LO. And it happens in other bugs also, that it's different in
different MSO versions or that it's wrong there.

I don't know how the original was created but there's a problem.
Please see .DOCX I uploaded with both ToC and test those in LO.

boxes that become available; Reset settings and user interface modifications
and Reset entire user profile and Apply Changes and Restart.
iii) close and do soffice.bin --safe-mode again
iv) select Continue in safe mode
When Writer starts the Infobar should be visible and show a message like "You
are running version x.x of LibreOffice for the first time. Do you want to learn
what's new? followed by a Release Notes button and an X close button.

Beginning with cursor showing in the document window press F6 until focus is
lost in the infobar. This requires three presses of F6 if standard toolbar and
formatting toolbar are open.

Result: No indication of keyboard focus being in the Infobar

Expected result: Indication of keyboard focus and ability to keyboard navigate
and select buttons in the Infobar

Download the original attachment, open it in LO, right-click on the generated
ToC and update it. All entries will duplicate. That is the bug, as these
entries should _not_ duplicate.

What kind of error did you get? I'm not seeing any errors when updating the ToC
in Word 2013.

If there's indeed an error when updating the originally attached sample's ToC
in Word (I haven't encountered one myself), having a clean sample would be
helpful.

Dear Andreas Wagner,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Dear Chris,

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129003] New: Capitalization of menu entry "Show Tip-Of-The-Day"

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129003

Bug ID: 129003
Summary: Capitalization of menu entry "Show Tip-Of-The-Day"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ming.v@qq.com

In the new 6.4 branch there is a new menu entry Help -> Show Tip-Of-The-Day.

I believe the correct capitalization for hyphenized word like this should be
"Tip-of-the-Day". See, for example, the rules from style guides cited in
http://www.accu-assist.com/grammar-tips-archive/GrammarTip_capitalization-titles-headings-hyphenated-words.htm
.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129002] New: Printing with the newest version of LIBRE Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) now takes a long wait times to process file after print command.

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129002

Bug ID: 129002
Summary: Printing with the newest version of LIBRE Version:
6.3.3.2 (x64) now takes a long wait times to process
file after print command.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ronaldno...@hotmail.com

Description:
The new version now takes me to a LIBRE preview screen whereas before it took
me directly to the printer's own preview options. When selecting print, the
printer dialog appears with "creating print file" which takes a very long time
to process LIBRE information. Prior to the upgrade, the print command went
directly to the print spool and would start printing almost immediately. This
is when using wireless printing through the router which works just fine with
my other computer still using the 6.2 version.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select PRINT
2.PREVIEW PRINT PAGE apprears
3.select OK to print

Actual Results:
The Cannon Print Dialog Box will appear on-screen with the phrase CREATING
PRINT FILE for which takes up to 2-3 minutes to complete. Sometimes it will
state PRINTER PORT IN USE and then switch back to CREATING PRINT FILE. Once it
completes printing is normal.

Expected Results:
Create the file for printing immediately instead of going to the new PRINT
PREVIEW page LIBRE created. It will then go to the CANON print preview as it
would have initially prior to the upgrade to Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Prior to printing and between each page, the printer will do a print head
cleaning which uses the ink very fast. If I take it to the printer and use the
USB direct connection, printing is completed as normal, quickly, without issue.
THE PRINTER USED IS A CANON PIXMA MX922, without fail prior to the upgrade to
Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64). The hardware is a TOSHIBA SATELITE LAPTOP without fail
prior to the Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) upgrade.

I can reproduce this on Windows 10 with LO 6.2.8, using sample text "தமிழில்"
(copied from bug 129001).

Version: 6.2.8.2 (x64)
Build ID: f82ddfca21ebc1e222a662a32b25c0c9d20169ee
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;

The overlapping only happens for Outline style, and is fine for Title,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128998] New: Icons and previews are blurry with GTK3

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128998

Bug ID: 128998
Summary: Icons and previews are blurry with GTK3
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nutzer70...@posteo.de

Description:
Hello,

I am using LibreOffice with a HiDPI screen and noticed blurry icons in toolbar,
start center and other places with icons. Also the previews in print preview
and the document preview in start page are not sharp.

When I run in terminal ~$ SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk lowriter the icons are shown
perfect. On Kubuntu with KDE default also no problem here.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start LibreOffice on a system with HiDPI screen
2.At the beginning you should see the blurry icons

Actual Results:
Blurry icons in toolbars, no sharp previews in printing dialog or start center.

Expected Results:
Sharp previews and icons as they are availible with KDE-desktop or with
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk lowriter (command example).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I am using
OS: Ubuntu 19.04 with Gnome 3.34.1
Graphics: Radeon RX 560 Series
Screen: 27" 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz
LibreOffice: 6.3.3.2

I tried several icon sizes and icon themes. With the svg-themes the icons are
getting more blurrier.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128993] Annoying delay of 10 seconds when opening Libreoffice Writer files

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128993

Hello! Good and bad news:

The good news is, that I found the reason for the 10-second-delay-bug:

In the LibreOffice Main Application or Writer go into the navigation bar
"Extras"->"Internet"->"Proxy":

The default value is "System". When I change this to "Manual" or "None", and
then "Apply" it, the problem is solved! That means afterwards LibreOffice
immediately starts up with no delays! I only tested this on 6.2.8, but I'm
pretty sure it will work likewise on the higher versions.
Note that the form was empty anyways, and I didn't use any proxy settings. It
is just the proxy being set to "System" (which is the default value after fresh
install), which causes the 10-second-delay.

The bad news is, I found another bug right at this location:

When I tried to reproduce the behaviour by setting the "Proxy" back to "System"
- the "System" value wasn't applied. It remained stuck at "Manual" or "None".
So actually applying these 3 different options is bugged as well.

In order to reproduce the solution I had to delete the LibreOffice folder in
AppData in Windows 7. After doing that the "Proxy" setting resetted back to
"System" (and LibreOffice had again the 10-second-delay to start up, which
again was solved by changing the proxy setting to "Manual" or "None").

I hope this information helps to address this years-long bugger :)

As requested I tried out the new versions. Unfortunately the issue still
persists:

6.3.3 -> also has the 10 second delay
6.4.0.0.beta1 -> also has the 10 second delay

To verify my previous observations I re-installed older versions again:

6.0.7.3 -> no delay, immediately starts up!

6.1.0.1 -> has the 10 second delay. This is actually the first occurrence of
this issue (though I didn't try the alphas and betas before).

Again the issue only happens if I'm connected to the internet. If I disable the
internet connection it has no delays and immediately starts up.
(6.0.7.3 always starts up immediately though, regardless if connected or not).

I was using even older versions than 6.0.7.3 years ago and never had this
issue. This issue must have been introduced somehow in 6.1.0.

If it is somehow relevant how my computer accesses the Internet: it connects
via a WLAN module to an Internet router. To cut my connection I just deactivate
the WLAN module in Windows 7.

Description:
Database biblio: When opening the tools-bibliography_database menu, this error
message appears: The following column names could not be assigned... then I
have to reassign all columns. Problem is worse in other than english languages,
hardly anybody knows the assignment of the columns.

Big problem: you must use a table for the database, unfortunately it's not
possible to use a query, so you cannot take a relational database for the job.
Best would be a relational database with at least 2 tables, one for the medium
(books, magazines etc.) and the other for the articles, authors... Then a query
should assemble the data for the biblio-format.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. tools-bibliography_database menu
2.
3.

Type
Publication type
Organization
Institution
Type of report
Do you want to edit the column arrangement?

Expected Results:
All columns should be assigned automatically

So… your solution to this is have people open a DOCX file in Words, resave it,
so they can open it in LO?

I have plenty of Word documents that _do_ show duplicate ToC when I open them
in LO and they are just fine in Word. And as such I argue that this is indeed a
LO bug.

Test Base-Doc with HSQLDB - not showing the bug

It's always best to provide a testcase to be used immediately instead of having
to construct one, which would be necessary when a PostgreSQL database is used,
so I thought it best to create a simple base document using HSQLDB with one
table having two columns and two rows.
Unfortunately, the problem does not occur in this case.
I do attach the document, nevertheless, so that you can look at it and see if I
did not understand you correctly: "Test Base-Doc with HSQLDB - not showing the
bug". Open the document, then start the only macro there is, it will list the
two TypeNames and the contents of the columns, so you can see that it's in fact
the first row.
The code is restricted to the absolutely necessary. There is no form document.

I then added a similar message box in on of my applications that uses MariaDB,
but there again I could not reproduce the error. The application in this case
is Calc, hence no reading of the database can have occured before the statement
is executed that displays the message, which is the first situation where a
rowset is used.

You did not provide information about the LibO version. I tested in 6.3.3.2. I
don't know how to test older versions in connection with base (for other
modules there is no problem, but I don't know how to cop with older Java
versions in parallel).

So I cannot confirm the bug, and I can only offer two hypotheses:
- You used an older LibO version
- It's a problem connected with PostgreSQL
But these are only assumptions, with no facts supporting them or making them
probable.

Not clear if the dev effort needed to control break/linebreak handling of
U+2014 EM DASH for es-XX locales should be done outside provisions of ICU lib
handling.

Durring editing insertion of a ZWNBS U+FEFF before or after the EM DASH is
trivial. Annoying to have to do it, but easily done.

Worth keeping open on the back burner? Or, best to issue a WONTFIX until
Unicode and ICU can resolve?

Reading Unicode UAX#14 [1], it seems to be covered by the B2, and LB17 rules
for handling U+2014 EM DASH. Although not clear it is fully resolved to all
Unicode participants and ICU-8061 issue [2] remains unresolved.

At some point should make it into ICU libs and be available to possibly use in
LibreOffice edit engine(s). Until then it remains incumbent on users to mind
their formatting.

And, as suggested in the AOO see also i122337, while writing dialog one could
set the AutoCorrect localized options for open and close 'Double Quotes' to
U+2014 by picking the EM DASH character. Done from Tools -> AutoCorrect ->
AutoCorrectOptions -> Localized Options.
