One of the errors in the logs was "Sandbox: soffice(971) deny(1)

issue with shared memory and interprocess communication. Does the app have the
required entitlements to use IPC? I am certainly not an expert wrt entitlements
in MacOS.

However, I cannot then explain that everything was working OK for you...

The apps entitlements are:

I cannot say why my Sandbox would seem to be somehow stricter than yours. But I
suppose this issue would be more reported if it was widespread. I guess that
would point to this being some issue with my machine.

Not sure what is happening here then.

As an experiment, just to work around the file-read-data denial, I gave
"LibreOffice Vanilla.app" Full Disk Access from System Preferences -> Security
& Privacy -> Privacy. In my mind this should allow LibreOffice to read any file
on my system. However, LibreOffice still crashes with the same error in the
logs.

This time I also saw other log messages relating to some Sandbox constraints
being violated.

Those are to provide better integration with different desktop environments,
e.g. the qt5/kde5/kf5 VCL plugin is supposed to provide a similar look and feel
to other Qt/KDE applications when using LXQt or Plasma as desktop environment.

I didn't tell Luboš should finish Skia integration maintain it over years
himself. Obviously, I can understand that it can't be one people task. I just
would like that TDF put all required resources to finish integration and
maintain it over the years ; I wouldn't like this good work not be wasted or
let rotten because of lack of devs (like already Firebird, reportbuilder, macro

UNCONFIRMED.

When I set up a table in a Writer document that has more than one page I do not
want the document to introduce page breaks between rows of the table. Ticking
the box 'Keep with next paragraph' in Table Options does this.
However, if I then save the document and reopen it the 'Keep with next
paragraph' option is no longer ticked, and page breaks have been incorrectly
introduced which have to be manually corrected.

OK, if there is consensus on the ESC to dump 4+ years of work and just disable
it now. ;-)

Well maybe, but wouldn't that put a lot of unfair pressure on Luboš near term?

And, it still kind of feels like we will continue to have driver issues for
accelerated rendering to contend with (moving from mainstream OpenGL/Direct3D
to Vulkan support). Likewise don't the accelerated gl slide transitions in
Impress that caused this hiccup need touch-ups for Vulkan?

But put it in a BZ issue by itself and let the ESC have at it. Most will have
had a heads up as cc'd here and on the bug 93529 OpenGL Meta.

LO Linux packages on TDF are more for package maintainers.
Indeed, you must deal with dependencies requirements.
So unless you want to deal with them, you should stick to the repositories of
your distribution.
Anyway, you can try to provide a backtrace (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace).

LO can work without OpenGL, what about disabling OpenGL for all branches and
close the OpenGL related bugs?
Of course I'd let people force OpenGL use if they really want it but at their
own risk (so without official support) until complete Skia integration.
I don't know if it's because we never had enough OpenGL devs or if OpenGL
driver support is too buggy on graphic cards brands but I'd really like to know
if ratio benefit/bugs worths it.

About Skia, hope we'll got enough devs in TDF to finish its integration and
maintain it over the years.

Actually seems the WDDM 2.6 would be both 1903 and 1909 builds of Windows 10,
none the less a bunch of folks with earlier Windows 10 builds and hardware that
would benefit from expanding the OpenGL black listing.

Not til 6.5, and in the interim folks on 6.3 and 6.4 are gonna be plagued with
the crashing OpenGL without doing a blacklist. Expand and backport the
blacklist for now; look at the Skia & Vulkan support going forward.

@Mike, Julien, *

Looking at the Intel Driver numbering scheme [1] seems like we would need
additional stanzas in the XML to set the blacklist.

In Crashreport meta for the WinOpenGLContext::makeCurrent() signature, for the
6.3.0+ builds crashes on IntelGPUs for the gl slide transitions, see a range of
Windows builds and GPU hardware signatures.

Current patch would only blacklist Windows 10 (1909) build with GPUs with
DirectX 12.1 support with the DCH packaged 100.6861 -> 100.7463 drivers.

Alternative to multiple stanzas might be some refactoring in the
blocklist_parser.cxx/hxx to pare the driver string back to just the build
number?

Just to be sure that we are speaking about the same issue.

I believe your sensible explanation concerns the principle of what gets coded
as UNO or not. No dispute there.

My focus here is on UI/UX. From a (naive) user point of view, there are Add
and Remove Item arrows for the Customize Find Toolbar dialog, so one would
expect that if an item is removed, then it should be possible to add it back
with the Add Item arrow. I understand (from your explanations) why this naive
expectation is false.

My main point is only that it seems problematic (and unnecessary) that users
can remove icons from toolbars that can only be recovered by "resetting" the
toolbar. It is already possible for users to hide these items, by unchecking
them in the Customize Toolbar.

My query/proposal was to prevent the user to remove those non-UNO items from
the Find toolbar.

When keyboard focus is in a toolbar combo box control like Set Paragraph Name,
Font Name, and Font Size, or when focus is in the overflow menu, keyboard
navigation using the tab key no longer works for GTK3 vcl backend.

Steps to repro:

1) In writer, with standard toolbar user interface, use F6 key to move keyboard
focus to the Set Paragraph Name control or just mouse click in any toolbar
combo box control.

2) Press the tab or shift+tab to keyboard navigate focus to the next or

Thanks Alex!

To be clear, the root of the issue isn't so much about the key remapping.

It's about how CTRL-S shouldn't be interpreted as trying to type the letter
"S". The main "Writer" program doesn't interpret it this way, so the Macro
Editor shouldn't either.

The resulting saved ".doc" file will look correct if opened in Word 2003 but
will look incorrect if re-opened in LibreOffice.

This may seem like a minor issue, but it prevents me from using LibreOffice in
a large-scale workflow which involves running macros on hundreds of documents
and then re-saving those documents. The macro works, but the documents' rotated
text boxes get mangled in the process.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129632] New: ccache does not get any hits on 'make sc' just after 'make sc.clean'

2019-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129632

Bug ID: 129632
Summary: ccache does not get any hits on 'make sc' just after
'make sc.clean'
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dennisfrancis...@gmail.com

Description:
After a fresh build of master, and a 'make sc.clean' ccache does not get any
hits on running 'make sc.build'.

$ cat autogen.input
--with-parallelism=2
--disable-skia
--without-junit
--enable-symbols
--without-doxygen
--without-help
--without-myspell-dicts
--enable-assert-always-abort

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup ccache if you don't have already.
2. Clear ccache cache if there are any.
3. Start a fresh build of core.git master branch (I am at head
56063d30628ee2497a7c559d7de42d26e9cfc8ae). To save time for the purposes of
reproduction, do 'make build-nocheck'
4. run 'make sc.clean'
5. run 'make sc.build'

Actual Results:
The fifth step 'make sc.build' actually invokes the compiler every time because
of ccache misses. It is pretty obvious due to the long time it takes to finish
this step.

Expected Results:
The fifth step 'make sc.build' should have finished under a minute. At least
until a few weeks ago, with ccache this step used to finish under a minute.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
uname -a
Linux dennis-laptop 4.19.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.67-2+deb10u2 (2019-11-11)
x86_64 GNU/Linux

ccache -V
ccache version 3.6

I'm certain that there was no such issue in the master from late November. I'll
try to get debug logs from ccache debug-mode runs, next time I build.

The second paragraph ought to have a green border around it.

Thanks Mike, and I've tweaked the summary.

Would note the crashreport logs a number of paths resulting in the same LO
crash at WinOpenGLContext::makeCurrent() and that it is not limited to the
Intel GPUs.

Browsing through meta for the crash reports I see Intel, AMD and nVidia GPUs
all in the mix--for both 32bit and 64bit Windows 7, 8 and 10.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129427] FORMATTING MARKS: Symbols should be formatted

2019-12-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129427

Perhaps it's down to how one interprets a "Show-Hidden" feature.
For example to me it means to show what's hidden yet there, and the font
settings on whitespace are part of what's hidden yet there that is valuable to
see. Otherwise, you could reasonably argue there's equally little to no value
seeing spaces or paragraph marks either as visible symbols in a word-processor.
I would argue though they're all useful to anyone who tracks what's hidden for
various reasons, and colour is quite a major one in terms of productivity, as
it's irksome to be frequently/constantly taken by surprise by your typing being
in an unexpected colour.
Another way of looking at it, is that bold, italics and font-size are already
formatting the hidden symbols, and it's just the colour that's omitted...

-1, there is no legitimate reason to style NPC and fields on canvas beyond
current treatment of field shading and or color assignment to the NPC.

Doing so would actually detract from current suppressed visual indication of
what is distinctly non-printable.

bug 58434 is open to move more NPC out of field shading (+) to become
controlled as formatting marks (+), while bug 80054 is open to allow
user to customize the color for the formatting marks/NPC

IMHO => WF

Bug ID: 129629

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: greenandpleasant2000-supp...@yahoo.co.uk

Any writer file will do as an example.

1. Open the Find and Replace dialogue.
2. Click the "Other options" button to close the bottom half of the dialogue.
3. Enter a search term and click "Find next".

Expected result: The selected search term is highlighted in the text, if
available. BUT, "Other options" remains closed.
Actual result: "Other options" automatically opens again when the search term
is highlighted in the text.

The state of "Other options" should remain as set by the USER.
