[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130650] No apparent way to hide right sidebar

> Did you try F11?

F11 maximizes the browser, it doesn't hide the sidebar.

In the meantime, I found that the sidebar can be hidden from the "view" menu,
but I don't see any reason why it can't get a handle that allows for quick
hiding/unhiding, as in the desktop version.

If you a have question like that how to build an app? Then you should know that
there are some popular names like Weebly, Wix, and Squarespace which let you
create a website with just a drag-and-drop option. While using sites like
Woocommerce and Shopify, you can easily develop a web store in no time.

Dear Oribasht,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

I'm a fan of more than less presets as users usually don't want (because
afraid) or know how to do it. So it's better to have many good presets.

Maybe the last row of every preset is not full to give a hint that there can be
added something by the user?

These are the reasons is I tend to 'con'.

Also most users I know are doing a single click on an object and then a right
click for opening the context menu (instead of only a right click). With a
change of the single click behavior these people will see a view scrolling
although they don't want it.

I just noticed this bug also happens when inserting a linked PDF to a Writer
document as well. I used LibreOffice 6.4.1.2, Build ID

Should I add the Keyword "filter:pdf" to the Keywords field and edit the bug
subject to reflect this fact? Or should I create a new bug? I think both bugs
are very similar to each other, but I don't know if they are related or are on
different components.

Question dialogs never make something really safe. I don't know anybody
(including me) who hasn't ever not read the dialog warning text or accidentally
clicked at OK in such dialogs. :)

My point is that if you give the user the power to modify single factory
settings, the user should be able to restore this stage without discarding the
whole user profile at once. This is good usability for me.

On my four year old notebook, at T450 with Intel Core i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz
LibreOffice 7.0 alpha manages to open this after 5 minutes.

An strace shows a long list of calls to sbrk().

Is this an improvement, or did you not wait that long (or used a significantly
slower machine)?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131063] Navigate document content when selection is made by single click in the Navigator

2020-03-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131063

And also, some anecdata with sample size n = 1:

I mainly use Word, so note that my familiarity is biased in that direction.
However, I have used LibreOffice for long stretches of time in various work
environments. Anyway, this is my experience:

1. >95% of the time, I use the navigator to quickly jump between headings in a
large document. So, single-click > double-click (for me, at least). It
may not seem like much of a difference, but over the course of multiple clicks,
the additional hassle of a double-click really becomes noticeable.

2. <5% of the time, I create a new heading and oops, I set it to the wrong
level. For this, I assigned the keyboard shortcuts "Alt + Shift + Left" and
"Alt + Shift + Right" to the commands "Decrease Level" and "Increase Level"
respectively, and I use those to adjust the heading level. These are default
shortcuts in Word, but not in LO (afiak).

3. <1% of the time, I want to reorder some headings. Click-and-drag in LO's
navigator makes this really easy. In Word (my very obsolete version), I have to
go to outline view, set the show outline level accordingly to hide the text,
and then click and drag from there. If these are multiple sibling headings, I
do them one by one. But normally it's just one parent heading + multiple child
headings.

I don't really use the navigator for anything else.

Just as a point of reference, I'd like to compare the suggested functionality
with the "document map"/"navigation" in Microsoft Word and the "document
outline" in Google Docs. (I normally only use the LO Navigator for jumping
between different headings, so I can't really comment on the usage for other
use cases/objects e.g. Images, Tables, Frames, etc.)

# Microsoft Word 2003 (because I happen to have it lying around):

Note:

- Document map = the left sidebar listing all of the headings and subheadings
in the document
- Main text = the big main area on the right containing all of the text in the
document, where the caret is

Observations:

1-1. If I move the caret in main text:

The selected heading in the document map automatically updates to match the
caret location.

1-2. If I single-click a heading in document map:

That heading in document map gets selected. Keyboard focus remains in main
text. Caret in main text jumps to that heading.

1-3. If I double-click a heading in document map:

That heading in document map gets selected. Keyboard focus remains in main
text. Caret in main text jumps to that heading. The expanded/collapsed status
of the subtree under that heading in document map gets toggled.

1-4. If I click the little [+] or [-] to the left of a heading in document map:

Keyboard focus remains in main text. Caret location in main text is unchanged.
Selected heading in document map is unchanged. The expanded/collapsed status of
the subtree under that heading in the document map gets toggled.

1-5. If I press "F6" while focused in main text:

Keyboard focus moves to document map. Up and down arrow keys change selected
heading in document map. Right arrow key expands subtrees. Left arrow key
collapses subtrees. Caret location in main text remains unchanged throughout
all this. If I hit "Enter", then keyboard focus returns to main text, and caret
jumps to that location in the main text. Alternatively, if I hit "F6", focus
returns to main text, selected heading in document map reverts to that of the
current caret location, and caret location in main text is unchanged.

1-6. If I right-click a heading in document map:

That heading in document map gets selected. A context menu appears containing
the followng items: "Document Map" / "Expand", "Collapse" / "Show Heading 1",
"Show Heading 2", ..., "Show Heading 9", "All". Keyboard focus moves to the
right-click context menu. Caret location in main text is unchanged. As soon as
I click one of those items (e.g. "Expand"), that action gets applied, and then
the selected heading in document map reverts to that of the current caret
location. Keyboard focus returns to the main text. Caret location in main text
is unchanged.

1-7. If I right-click a heading in document map and then click somewhere in
main text:

Selected heading in document map reverts to current caret location. Caret
location in main text is unchanged (even if you clicked a location in the text
other than where the caret is).

1-8. If I right-click a heading in the document map and then hit "Esc" or click
somewhere other than the main text (e.g. the title bar, the status bar, etc.):

The right-clicked heading in document map is now selected, and keyboard focus
moves to document map. Caret location in main text is unchanged.

# LibreOffice Writer 6.3.5.2 (because I happen to have it lying around):

(While in content navigation view.)

2-1. If I move the caret in main text:

The selected heading in the navigator automatically updates to match the caret
location (but there's a curious half-second delay).

2-2. If I single-click a heading in navigator:

That heading in navigator gets selected. Keyboard focus moves to navigator.
Caret location in main text is unchanged.

2-3. If I double-click a heading in navigator:

That heading in navigator gets selected. Keyboard focus remains in main text.
Caret in main text jumps to that heading.

2-4. If I click the little [+] or [-] to the left of a heading in navigator:

Keyboard focus moves to navigator. The selected heading in navigator is
unchanged. Caret location in main text is unchanged. The expanded/collapsed
status of the clicked heading's subtree in navigator gets toggled.

2-5. If I press "F6" while focused in main text:

Keyboard focus rotates from main text to the menu bar, then the first toolbar,
then the second toolbar, then the first button in the navigator panel (the one
with the compass icon). If I hit "Tab" here, it rotates keyboard focus from the
navigator toolbar, then the central headings list, then the bottom document
indicator (e.g. "Untitled 1 (active)"). If I stop in the central headings pane,

I am torn on this: from a positioning perspective, isn't LibreOffice
doing a better job re that segment than Office 365? If the text color
was different (= readable) I would prefer LibreOffice's choice.

In the case of the bar char/stacked (cf. comment #3) positioning cannot
be changed, so the color needs to be fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130928] Area Fill update presets

2020-03-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130928

thanks for the bug feedback. My conclusio is to have in all area fill tabs 3x5
presets. Patches for pattern and hatch will come.

In addition I will upload the old pattern and hatch presets to the extension
page.

And cause I did investigate a lot of time into make useful presets I will make
an extension with 3x9 presets in all area fill tabs.

So finally I hope I can make everybody happy.

Thanks for reporting this bug.

However, 6.0.7 is a very old version, and its bug-fix support has ended long
ago. Can you test with the recent versions 6.3.5 or 6.4.1 and see if this bug
still exists?

The official download page of LibreOffice is at:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/
and provides DEB packages of the two versions mentioned above. You may also
contact Ubuntu community to see if they have specific packages for 18.04 LTS.

Setting to NEEDINFO. Please change it back to UNCONFIRMED once you've tested
and reported the result.

https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-6-4/officecfgregistrydataorgopenofficeofficeui/de/?checksum=b8b1cf3409875a38

A machine translation website told me the German translator is correct to
translate English "from right to top" to German "Von rechts nach oben". Do you
agree? If so, it is not a German specific issue and likely affects all
languages.

To clarify, the _upcoming_ release 6.4.3 means 6.4.3.x versions, which is
scheduled to be avaiable at the end of March and early April. Dieter in
comment #4 also means 6.4.3 instead of 6.3.4.

The versions you see this bug in are 6.4.0.3 and 6.4.1.2, both older than
6.4.3.

To locate pages about formulas in table, search for "table formula text
document".

Your report is mixing issues in more than one service: Help, bugzilla and guide
books.

Consider that this report should address the Help of LibreOffice. Please
restate the issue you have. Is it the search feature of the Help page?

(Others source of information (bugzilla, Guides) have their own report and
community).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131171] New: [DE] form animation "diagonal boxes" has wrong german labels for directions

2020-03-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131171

Bug ID: 131171
Summary: [DE] form animation "diagonal boxes" has wrong german
labels for directions
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: logisti...@yahoo.com

Description:
The german translations for the available directions in the form animation
dialog "Auftritt | Diagonale Kästen" are wrong.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a new odp file
2. draw a new form
3. select side panel | animation
4. press "+" for "add effect"
5. select effect "Diagonale Kästen"
6. try different settings for "direction" and observe the demo animation

Actual Results:
The demo animation directions do not resemble the german descriptions.

Expected Results:
The animation should resemble the selected drop down entry.

To my understanding the drop down labels for "direction" should be changed as

"von rechts nach oben" --> "von links unten"
"von rechts nach unten" --> "von links oben"
"von links nach oben" --> "von rechts unten"
"von links nach unten" --> "von rechts oben"

Reproducible: Always

Peter, I assume, you're talking about find & replace dialog. In find toolbar
the string becomes red, if there's no hit. So this is like you expect. In Find
& Replace dialog the string becomes red also, but since it is still
highlighted, you don't see it.

So I also think, it would be nice, if this string is no longer highlighted, if
there is no search result. Would this solve your problem, Peter?

I confirm that
- the text color of pie segment 1 is black where it should be white and
- the label positions are somewhat different in LO than in Powerpoint.

In my opinion your bug report title is somewhat misleading since the "black
text on dark background" results from the wrong positioning of the labels (ON
the pie vs. NEXT TO the pie slice).

If you agree please adjust the title of this bug report. I will then confirm
it.

See no need for this.

Default bullets for the GUI are drawn from OpenSymbol font.

Though we do need a little tweak there to move some PUA glyphs onto their
correct Unicode point:

E00C -> U+25C6 BLACK DIAMOND
E00A -> U+25A0 BLACK SQUARE

And helpful would be the addition of a OpenSymbol appropriate glyph for U+2610
BALLOT BOX

Otherwise, U+25CB WHITE CIRCLE is available to assign as a bullet via the
customize. While any of:

U+25A1 WHITE SQUARE - □
U+274F LOWER RIGHT DROP-SHADOWED WHITE SQUARE - ❏
U+2750 UPPER RIGHT DROP-SHADOWED WHITE SQUARE - ❐
U+2751 LOWER RIGHT SHADOWED WHITE SQUARE - ❑
U+2752 UPPER RIGHT SHADOWED WHITE SQUARE - ❒

Are available from the OpenSymbol font to assign to a bullet listing--though
the customization allows a selection from any font to be used as a bullet.

The following behaviour appears to be the norm and applies whenever the
function selected in the first step belongs to any category other than
“Add-in”.
(1) Double-click a function name in the “Function” list on the left-hand
side of the Function Wizard dialog.
(2) The right-hand side of the dialog is updated to provide details of the
parameters to be supplied with the selected function.
(3) The “Category” drop-down on the left-hand side of the dialog is updated
(if necessary) to reflect the category of the selected function.
(4) The “Function” list on the left-hand side of the dialog is updated (if
necessary) to show only the functions in the same category as the selected
function.
(5) The entry for the selected function is highlighted in the “Function”
list on the left-hand side of the dialog.

These steps all seem sensible from a user interface design perspective.

However, if you select a function in the first step that is in the “Add-in”
category the behaviour is different as follows:
a) The “Category” drop-down on the left-hand side of the dialog is updated
(if necessary) to “All”.
b) The “Function” list on the left-hand side of the dialog is updated (if
necessary) to show all functions in all categories.
c) The entry for the selected function is NOT highlighted in the
“Function” list on the left-hand side of the dialog.

I find this inconsistency very frustrating – could anything be done to make the
dialog handle the Add-in functions in the same way that it handles those in
other categories?

Build and system information from the About LibreOffice dialog follows:
Version: 6.4.0.3 (x64)
Build ID: b0a288ab3d2d4774cb44b62f04d5d28733ac6df8

This is how it looks in LO in regular bar chart mode (note the white on white
lable missing on the fourth line)

Switching to a regular bar chart, the fourth line has its label rendered
white on white -- which is a little invisible. ;-)

How it should look like (LibreOffice) when switching to bar chart/stacked mode

When switching to bar chart/stacked mode the issue persists, so I assume
there is a general routine handling coloring that can be fixed.

This is how it looks in LibreOffice. Not readable well or hardly at all:

 - black text and dark background (hardly readable)

 - black text on darker green background (not readable well)

Thank you for looking at the bug. The option is grayed out for with a brand new
EMBEDDED database. The crash occurs with a split database. That way the
odb-file will link to the fdb-file.
Steps taken:
1. Select Database: 'Connect to an existing database' Firebird File
2. Connection settings: [Create New] and save the new database e.g. "NEW.FDB"
Next appears 'file:///D:/NEW.FDB' Unfortunately this will give an error in OS
Windows(10). Change URL in 'file://D:/NEW.FDB'
3. Save and proceed: [Finish] Now save the ODF Database (linking to Firebird)
e.g. 'NEW.ODB' [Save]
Being done go to Tools>User Administration...
And LO crashes

Note: In version 6.4.1.2 Document recovery DOES work

Opening this DOCX in Writer, the page number in the footer on the last page
is off in two ways: it is rotated by 180° and shows a value of 1 instead of 2,
that is, it looks the same on the last and second to last pages.

If it wants to stay relevant outside of niches then, yes, it needs to
