[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132339] New: When Changing Heading(X) Numbering Style To "1.1.1.1.1" Subsequent Header(x) Changes The Numbering Is Incorrect!!!
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132339 Bug ID: 132339 Summary: When Changing Heading(X) Numbering Style To "1.1.1.1.1" Subsequent Header(x) Changes The Numbering Is Incorrect!!! Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.7.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: manny.m...@gmail.com Description: By default, the various Heading(x) styles do not include numbering. When the Heading(x) numbering style is changed to the "1.1.1.1.1" numbering style, when additional paragraphs are changed to the lower level paragraphs, i.e. Heading2, Heading3, etc., the subsequent numbering sequence is taken from the Heading1 numbering sequence even though the paragraphs are NOT set to Heading1, but rather are set to Heading2 or Heading3 style. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create about 8 to 12 dummy paragraphs and select every 4th paragraph and set the style to Heading1 2. Select the first paragraph, i.e. the first Heading1 paragraph, and change the numbering style to "1.1.1.1.1" and refresh to update ALL Heading1 paragraphs 3. Select paragraphs 2 and 3 and set the style to Heading2 as well as change the numbering style to "1.1.1.1.1" and refresh to update ALL Heading2 paragraphs; probably not necessary but just making sure! ;-) 4. Select paragraphs 5 and 6 and set the style to Heading2 and then you should see the error! :-( Actual Results: Paragraphs 5 and 6 get numbered "3" and "4", respectively, and appear to get numbered based on the numbering sequence for Heading1 instead of based the Heading2 numbering sequence. Expected Results: I was expecting the number for paragraphs 5 and 6 to be "2.1" and "2.2" respectively. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: I will be attaching the reference files to demonstrate this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107323 --- Comment #5 from QA Administrators --- Dear Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired), To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132337] New: Export Notes only feature desired
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132337 Bug ID: 132337 Summary: Export Notes only feature desired Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: dcoll...@superdan.net Description: Some of us have various Notes written in our Impress presentations, but no way to view them live while giving the presentation. For example: (1) We may have only a single monitor available, perhaps on a laptop. (2) At the college where I teach, a single splitter cord was used to connect every room's desktop & projector, so the systems do not recognize two monitors. It would be enormously productive in these situations to carry a paper script with just the Notes available. Note that I am NOT talking about existing NOTES SLIDE PAGES, which would be excessive. I AM talking about about JUST NOTES themselves, in a writer document (say, with titles from the slides as labels to keep one's place). I've seen numerous others searching online for this same facility, with very complicated workarounds proposed. Examples: - https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10=97562 (suggested: manually copy-paste all Notes text to a separate file, one slide at a time). - https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/msg38932.html (suggested: print presentation to a PDF, convert PDF to text, manually cut out all the non-Notes text). So: It would save many of us a great deal of time and effort, currently manually copying Notes out by hand as a regular process, if a new feature allowed us to export just the Notes (not slides) to a writer document. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127170] Clarify clock time (HH:MM, MM:SS, ...) and duration time ([HH]:MM, [MM]:SS, ...) formatting in help; (ignore the MM month vs minute discussion)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127170 --- Comment #11 from Albrecht Müller --- @Jaromir: As the de facto standard is quite old the floating point approach may have some historical roots. Maybe there were a calendar first which used days as basic unit. Later there was a need to add time but it was not possible to change the basic unit. This might have broken too much of existing software. So time was added as a fraction of days. I recently discovered another bunch of bug reports related to date and time arithmetic and found Winfried Donkers’ attachment #147433 (datetime parts comparison) in Bug 118800 comment 14 (discussed also in Bug 121978 comment 10 and the following comment) which compares how different programs handle date and time functions as well as formatting. From this attachment I learned an additional variant of how LibreOffice might interpret date and time handling. But I also saw that Excel 2016 seems to handle date and time values in the same way as Excel 97 did about 20 years ago (see Bug 127476 comment 6). So why there was no need to change Microsofts date and time handling? Why LibreOffice needs so many changes that cause a lot of unnecessary work and irritation both at the user and developer side? My opinion is that Microsoft pretty early had a clear concept of how an intuitive date and time arithmetic should work. In contrast, LibreOffice development seems to work on a one-bug-at-a-time approach that is based on an inconsistent specification that implies counter-intuitive behaviour. This approach is doomed: You may have a clever idea how to fix one bug but this creates another problem at some different location. So I see a need to have a clear description that explicitly states the key features of how LibreOffice’s date and time arithmetic should work. Therefore I try to reverse engineer the key features of the de facto standard: 1) A value of 1 corresponds to one day. 2) One day is 24 hours of equal length 3) One hour is 60 minutes of equal length 4) One minute is 60 seconds of equal length 5) There are no exceptions to rules 1) … 4) as long as you stay in the defined calendar range, which is something from ??? to 31.12. (?) (this should be specified) 6) Points in time and durations are represented by floating point values. (of sufficient precision; it is necessary to specify the details to allow the user to assess the size of the errors that will occur, I assume are double values are used). 7) Date and time calculations are done using the features of the underlying floating point arithmetic only. This floating point representation cannot in general represent the date and time values exactly. Due to the properties of floating point arithmetic and the inexact representation the user should expect errors both in representation and in the calculations. (Note: This is a common problem inherent to any floating point calculation.) The size of the errors should be expected to vary by several orders of magnitude depending on the kind of calculations that is done. 8)The standard uses an error recovery mechanism that tries to recover the exact values from their inexact representation. This mechanism is used in all date and time functions as well as for formatting. It cannot guarantee to recover correct values but it has to return consistent values. Example: The recovery may consider a value of 59.5 seconds as a representation of 59 or of 60 seconds. The SECOND and MINUTE functions should return either 0 minutes and 59 second or 1 minute 0 seconds, but not 0 minutes and 0 seconds. See bug 127476 for an example where this kind of problems affects which millennium you get. 9) There is a reference point in time that is represented by the floating point value zero. (I think there are several possible reference points that are already specified in the help information) 10) The standard does not support a conceptual distinction between points in time and durations. Points in time are defined by the time difference between this point and the reference point, i.e. by a duration. As long as the resulting values stay within the supported range durations always can be represented by points in time and vice versa. 11) Formatting of time values uses a "round down" strategy, for example 10 minutes and 55 seconds rounded to minutes are 10 minutes. Open questions: What kind of rounding is used in the fractional part of seconds, such as 3:10:55.954? Does the error recovery mechanism use different time units that depend on the number of digits in the fractional part? 12) Realisation of the error recovery mechanism: In order to reconstruct an exact date and time value from an inexact representation some basic unit of time is used. This is an integer fraction of a second, e.g. a second or a millisecond (the exact value has to be defined and documented, maybe the existing industry standard leaves no choice what value to use). Using a "rounding to the nearest" strategy the time value is

Ideally we'd want the SplitNode to create merged frames already, but that doesn't seem to be easy to achieve; several problems with this are: 1. the redlines are only restored at the end of UndoImpl 2. even if we store another set of SwRedlineSaveDatas right before the Join (while preventing the first SwRedlineSaveDatas from deleting them), and restore them by passing a closure to SplitNode, there are complaints about empty redlines, and also this case isn't handled properly: foo bar baz So instead, let SplitNode create whatever frames it does, and fix it up at the end manually on the start node's frames. This necessitates delaying the creation of the frames on the moved nodes until the end too. https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=723728cd358693b8f4bc9d913541aa4479f2bd48 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It always looks good to me in Word 2003. I see the text under the footer table after roundtripping with LO 6.0 and 6.2 and 7.0. However in LO the footer text is missing on the first page. Page 2 looks fine now in 7.0 master, as well as in 6.4.2.2. However, I couldn't see when that happened, because it looks like this in bibisect-linux-64-7.0 oldest, but no text at all in bibisect-linux-64-6.4 master. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132323] Make SKIA default. Move OpenGL and GDI rendering to Expert configuration
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132323 --- Comment #5 from Telesto --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #2) > As the Skia implementatio matures, I could see moving the OpenGL related > settings to Expert Configuration near term (eventually removing), but the > checkbox to disable Skia, and enable either CPU or the Hardware Acceleration > rendering is still useful. GDI I have no objection with GDI being around for a while longer; if Hardware Acceleration is a part of it stay's. However the should be a time path to phase it out. Marking GDI as depreciated starting with 7.0. Stopping official support with 7.0 release (except urgent cases, maybe?) The setting should move to the Expert Configuration starting with 7.3.. While dropping it at 8.0. Not written in stone.. situations can change of course, but a course must be set. OpenGL Again deprecation starting with 7.0. However, it should go faster, IMHO. The multiple choice back-ends flooding the UI; confusing. OpenGL was always somewhat broken. The DEV's aren't interested in it.. and we have to start somewhere with dropping support. And makes QA problematic.. I'm not inclined to test multiple backends for bug reports... So if XOR rendering on Skia is fast, but slow on OpenGL, not my problem.. Also, I guess all (nearly all) the Alpha testers are already using Skia.. So nobody will notice bugs sneaking into OpenGL/GDI; which is also a problem. -- About SKIA, Julien is right about the SKIA support. There needs to be more than one libreoffice developer available. And the developer should really commit to the Skia (at BoD/ESC level). Not running away at the point when the complains/bug come in.. The Firebird tragedy is combination of an immense lack of testers, and an 'broken' tender (support, cleaning up the issues afterwards, seems not to be included). Personal experience, 'developers' - i'm generalizing - are available as long as the a working on it.. story is somewhat different for bugs appearing 6 months later.. They should be committed fixed 'the flood' of bugs report asap.. Luboš is doing a great job at this point in time.. There must be a (soft) guarantee someone will support it the future ... Skia shouldn't become the next OpenGL implementation [again no offence the developers who worked on it.. it didn't turn out as expected I guess] Another question is what the targeted audience is. Is Skia Windows only. Or is/will it be also also for Mac and Linux, please let it be; yes? On what timeframe? What about the different Linux backends.. I have seen a post arguing the depreciate X11. Reducing those means more developer time for Skia and repairs being useful for a large group. LibreOffice Fresh has always been 'some sort' of beta. It can not be called that way, because everybody would skip it waiting for the final. Final never to be archived without testers. So we call it final, being a factual a beta or RC. Depending on the quality standard of the Development team. There are Beta with quality of final release. Betas with quality of a RC. RC with quality of beta. Beta with quality of Alpha.. I have seen some releasing passing by with know horrible bugs.. to be fixed in second or third .3 release. --Going even more offtopic-- About the Firebird experience Is there actually somebody in QA who is testing Base. Alex Thurgood? The Base support scarce.. at QA level as at Dev level and user base is pretty small to (and is getting even smaller as the bugs accumulate) MacOS There is no MacOS developer around, except Tor, once in a while. The code is 'legacy'. There are enough depreciation warning within the code. It still surprises me it's still working; more or less. It really needs some love. However, again a 'small' group of users.. no dev available (and or lacking the Hardware). And fixing if for 'free' while Mac users can afford Macs is still an issue. There should be specific donation campaign/ crowdfunding project.. assigned to make LibreOffice Mac great again. Or the whole Mac stuff must be commercialized.. it's already, more or less: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/collabora-office/id918120011?mt=12. Except Apple getting the biggest part of the earnings (I assume). A even worse deal, paying €29,99 and still broken.. The NeoOffice fork is a far better deal being functional; however lacking features and security fixes. However we enter the terrain of 'open source' and 'commercial interest'. Sometimes I wish that a company could hold back fixes for some time to make a 'profit'. It's impossible to earn something if say Collabora fixes Mac issues while a TDF build with the same fix is available freely immediately afterwards. We come in the area how NeoOffice handles it. With the code being open source.. however not pre-build. Which in my vision would mean, TDF holding of for a while compiling with fixes.. however, tricky area. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132329 Bug ID: 132329 Summary: Regression in the table column sum-function of Writer when a number reference by value is included in summation Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.3.2 release Hardware: x86 (IA32) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: kueh...@t-online.de Created attachment 159822 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=159822=edit Contains the odt test document and sceenshots of good and buggy versions The table column sum-function does not work properly when there is a reference value of a number included in the summation ("Querverweis"). This occurs in Writer in some LibreOffice version after 6.0.0.3. At least, the problem occurs in the latest version 6.4.3.2 and the latest stable version before. I tested version 6.0.0.3 for good and started testing with the latest Open Office version 4.1.7. Also LibreOffice version 5.4.4.2 works well. All the previously noted versions show the same expected good behaviour: a referenced number value (of a "Querverweis") in the table column is treated like a number value directly entered into the summarized column. The value can have a thousands separator or not. The number format of the column can be currency too. In the latter case the Euro sign may not be part of the referenced number. You can change the value in the source of the referenced number ("Querverweis") und then refresh all using the Extras menu, so that the referenced value in the column sum is updated and the total sum too. This does not work in 6.4.3.2. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132168] Track changes submenu is missing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132168 --- Comment #4 from bunkem --- I apologize that it wasn't clear. The first image shows what you see when you look in the Edit:Track Changes menu. There is no sub menu. On the Mac you can also use the Search under the help menu to find commands. So when you type "Track Changes" into the search box, the Mac allows you to see all the track changes menu and submenu items. This is image 2. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132125] Pasting text into comments does not work

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131151] Arithmetic error in Writer
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131151 --- Comment #7 from Albrecht Müller --- The bug is also not in Version: 6.0.4.2 (x64) Build-ID: 9b0d9b32d5dcda91d2f1a96dc04c645c450872bf CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 6.1; UI-Render: Standard; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group This seems to support Oliver Brinzings assumption that this bug is related to bug 127334. It is interesting in the context of the wall clock vs. duration format discussion. The error appears in column D. In this column you correctly use wall clock format HH:MM for a wall clock time. Note that the value in line 8 column D should be exactly the same a the one in line 7 column E as it is just a copy of this value and the same format is used. Nevertheless the displayed values differ (16:49 vs. 16:50). I fear that this problem is related to a correct implementation of the specification of date and time arithmetic which makes it susceptible to tiny round off errors. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132323] Make SKIA default. Move OpenGL and GDI rendering to Expert configuration
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132323 --- Comment #4 from Julien Nabet --- Just to be sure not to be misunderstood, I consider Luboš does a great job about Skia. However: - I'm not an expert but I know that rendering part is a central and complicate part in LO - 95% of patches related to Skia are made by Luboš so what will happen if he doesn't want or can't work on LO anymore for any reason? Has he got some backups people? - is there some doc related to Skia implementation on LO? (didn't find on LO wiki or missed it). If no or not enough (ok everything is relative), it may be difficult for newcomers (and not only them!) to fix a bug about Skia. Having almost no fixes about Base or MacOs bugs for example is quite disappointing, let's be prudent for something like rendering. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
