[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76481] Using autofilter pulldown - !type in search box! - on column with particular amount of records will freeze graphical mode, after few minutes normal state is restored
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76481 Kevin Suo changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |FIXED Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED --- Comment #31 from Kevin Suo --- There are (were) 2 different problems in the autofilter: 1. When a sheet contains may records, then it was slow when you open the autofilter dropdown list (without typing any text in the search box). This is what the original bug reporter has reported. And it was true in previous versions, but based on my test it has improved a lot. At least, on master branch under Fedora 32 I can open the 1st test doc attached to this bug (attachment 96201) within 4 seconds. This was reported to take several minutes to open up the autofilter dropdown. As a result, this issue was RESOLVED. 2. When a column contains many unique items, then it is very slow when you type in a char in the autofilter dropdown search box. It is only slow when there are many unique items (i.e., it is not slow to type in the search box if the column only contains several limited number of unique values) This (the 2nd) bug behaviour is still reproducible on master builds as of today, and I suspect a lot of duplicated bug reports. One example was the one I have reported in bug 122419. The bad thing is that, a lot of bugs with behaviour #2 (but not #1) was wrongly marked as duplicates of this bug (i.e., the bug I am now posting). For instance, bug 102927. As a result, I will mark this bug as RESOLVED FIXED, and move those with behaviour #2 to bug 122419. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91703 --- Comment #8 from QA Administrators --- Dear Alexandr, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. When the attached document is opened, the editor window does not get updated. The pixels which were last displayed in the window remain in the editor and get duplicated when the editor is scrolled. However, starting the presentation shows the content on the slides correctly. This is why I conclude the file is not completely corrupt however it appears to be causing a UI thread crash. When the presentation ends, LibreOffice crashes. I have tried a new user profile, and have tried toggling Skia and/or Hardware Acceleration but no combination of options changes the outcome. I have tested this bug on Version: 6.4.6.2 (Ubuntu 20.04) and Version 7.0.3.1 (Win 10 x64). Both have the same behavior. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open attached document. 2. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130719] Overwriting Writer styles does not overwrite changes to Marginalia paragraph style
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130719 --- Comment #27 from sdc.bla...@youmail.dk --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #26) > (In reply to sdc.blanco from comment #25) > > Of course? And I suppose you read this in a manual? (-: > > I am sorry if that was something ... inappropriate from my side - I only > meant to confirm your findings, to say that they are absolutely correct. Nothing inappropriate. On the contrary, very useful. I hope you saw the smiley at the end of my comment. My point was, of course, that it was "of course" for you, because you know how it works! And in this case, where we are trying to discover/add useful information about how "load styles" works, I was asking (as a joke) if knew that this "useful information" was "of course" because you had read it in the manual (or help pages) -- which of course we know do not exist -- until this patch is made. (-: > > Anyway, this seems to be the "key" bit of (missing) information that > > should be provided, no? > > Likely :-) So now, in all seriousness, thanks for the confirmation. Useful to know. Here is my proposal: For documents, only applied styles, styles modified from a default, and a limited subset of common styles from a default template will be loaded. For templates, only a limited subset of common styles and/or styles modified from a default will be loaded. The styles shown in the sidebar cannot be used as a guide. Please evaluate especially the end of the first sentence. While I understand that there is no "default" template (from an LO PoV), I was trying to find a way to say that in addition to applied and modified styles, one has to know that some (but not all) styles from a (vaguely specified) template will be loaded. No problem to drop "default template" (but it seemed to be a way to convey a sense of "standard" or "factory" default). And one more thing about that sentence. I want to check that I have understood correctly (because "documents" and "templates" seem like slightly different cases, which is why I decided to write separate sentences for them.) To illustrate that first sentence, I tried the following: 1. Open new file1. 2. Modify Heading 1 and 3, and Marginalia 3. Apply Marginalia in file1 3. Save file1. 4. Open new file2, and Modify Heading 2 style. 5. "load styles" to file2 from file1 (with overwrite) I got the impression -- from the discussions -- that the result should be: Heading 1, 3, and Marginalia styles (from file1) are loaded, while Heading 2 (from file1) will overwrite the modified Heading 2 in file2. In my experiments, Heading 1, 3, and Marginalia are loaded, but Heading 2 (in file2) is unchanged. Is that how it is supposed to work? according to design? (If so, then my proposal for sentence 1 is not accurate. Does the "default template" (or however one should refer to that list in comment 3) ever "overwrite"? ) That is what I was trying to test with this example -- And one final thought. Maybe this text does not apply only to "overwrite"? The help page (and checkboxes) also offer "Text", "Frames", "Page", and "Numbering". Is it correct to assume that the same "playing rules" (in the proposal) apply for these different categories? If the answer is yes, then perhaps there should be a little introduction/explanation after "How to access.." and before "Categories" that says what is in the "proposal" -- but in a more narrative form -- instead of a than a "note" or "warning" after "overwrite"? I am not promoting any solution, just trying to get an accurate (comprehensive) understanding of the situation, so that it can be communicated appropriately. Happy to receive comments, criticisms, etc. on the proposals and example. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122970] Direct cursor leaves screen trail with mouse pointer movement and no text
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122970 --- Comment #15 from Doug --- Hi, I would like to add that I am experiencing this problem as well. I am using LibreOffice 7.0.0.3 Mac OS X 10.11 Intel CPU I think it was also showing up for the previous version of LibreOffice I was using; it was triggering some memory about why I stopped using LibreOffice... But it has been quite a while since I've used LibreOffice so I do not know what version that was. Turning off Direct Cursor seems to have stopped this from occurring. It also was happening on pages with text, so I do not think a blank page is essential for this bug to show up. The marks would actually go away if I directed the mouse properly - and others then show up, so some sort of problem in the screen redrawing, perhaps. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
