[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135202] LO 6.4.6.1 and 7.0.1 fail with error 1045 when accessing MySQL database using native connector

I just downloaded the current daily build:
libreoffice-7-0~2020-12-07_00.17.15_LibreOfficeDev_7.0.5.0.0_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz.
Then I installed it. Then I ran the same MySQL database which uses the Native
driver. I was able to successfully connect to the MySQL Server using BOTH
authorization type (native password and caching_sh256 password). The problem
has been solved at least for the Debian versions of 7.0.5.0.0. I would have
liked to have changed the status to RESOLVED, but I will leave that to others
who have been doing this much longer than I.

FWIW: track & changes is involved. That's whole different can of worms :P.
There quite a bunch of issue (or should I say countless) flying around since
the 6.2 refactor (M. Stahl). Which obviously also appear in DOCX format...

So not even sure if what you're seeing being DOCX issues or only redlining. I
would even attribute the wrong export to M. Stahl/ track changes (until proven
otherwise)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138628] ClearDirectFormatting does not remove page break

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138628

--- Comment #10 from Octavio Alvarez  ---
To add complexity to the matter, the page break formatting attribute can also
be set by using Insert > Page Break (Insert menu, not Format menu). Also, they
can be removed by either pressing Backspace with the cursor after the page
break or Delete with the cursor before the page break. This make page breaks
seem like they are inserted objects as opposed to a formatting attribute. Think
that formatting attributes like "align left" or "bold" can't typically be
erased by pressing Backspace or Delete.

So, internally (content.xml), page breaks are a formatting attribute, but the
UI currently offers them under two concepts: as a formatting attribute (Styles,
Format > Paragraph...) but also as objects (Insert > Page Break,
backspace/delete). Both map to the same thing.

For users that think of them as objects and not as formatting attributes it
would be unexpected to have Clear Direct Formatting erase them; much more if
they don't use Styles.

This just means that, unfortunately, whatever decision is made will break the
expectation of a different set of users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133276] Wrong characters formatting (kerning) after odt file opened in LO Writer > 5.3 release (harfbuzz)

Actually don't think it is a kerning/hinting issue.

At 5.3 with Khaled's harfbuzz work we picked up OpenType smart font features on
the Graphite framework.

So, for this rather horribly formatted source/sample document, moving the
direct formatting into a paragraph style for the "Prices valid until..." (i.e.
a new style Prices_italic against Text Body -> Prices) with Palatino Linotype
italic font. Activating the Character feature "Historical ligatures", with
":hlig" tag, is sufficient to bring the text run onto a single line --
recovering spacing by ligature of the 'st' of 31st, and 'ff' of coffee.

Assume this was an upgrade installation. And, that looks to be cache

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 138748
   Summary: Replace number format "Language" with "Locale"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ville...@t-online.de

Could we replace the term "Language" with the term "Locale" in all number
format dialogs, in Calc's text import dialog and HTML import dialog? The
default setting we overwrite here is the global locale as set in the language
options. "Locale" describes how text is converted to numbers. "Language"
describes how human language is spell checked and auto-corrected. "Language" in
the context of number recognition is inconsistent.

--- Comment #1 from V Stuart Foote  ---
The duplicate short name labels are a non-issue as we now (for bug 108458)
provide specific UNO command identification and description for the controls
when working with the Customize dialog.

It really is not worth the dev effort, nor i18n linguistic gymnastics, to
attempt to resolve all duplicates--otherwise these are easy hackable for
duplicate short labels that actually are substantive or unclear in context.

IMHO => WF

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138749] New: New Excel Function LAMBDA

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138749

Bug ID: 138749
   Summary: New Excel Function LAMBDA
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.3.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: that.man.co...@gmail.com

Microsoft has announced a new function - LAMBDA(), permitting users to define
their own hyper-functions by selecting and naming their own regular sequence of
existing function calls/formulae.
It would be nice for those with no Java skills.

Here's a link to the release notes;

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138750] New: Add option to make paragraph border color same as paragraph default font color

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138750

Bug ID: 138750
   Summary: Add option to make paragraph border color same as
paragraph default font color
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.3.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: needsUXEval
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org

Paragraphs and (headings) border color is independent from (default) paragraph
font color.

Use case: n a situation where I want to change the color of the paragraph
(default) font, I also have to set the border color, if the border color is to
follow the font color.

Today this must be done manually for all paragraph with borders.

Suggestion:
Add a checkbox in the border tab of the paragraph style to inherit the font
color for the border color. For example, a green font color will be applied to
the border color

When the checkbox is selected, the border color selector is disabled and the
border color applied is taken from the paragraph font color for the style (set
in Font Effects tab). For example, a green font color will be applied to the
border color, turning border to green.

When the checkbox is cleared, the border color selector is enabled and user
must select border color manually.

Suggested action either add a dialog that's something like this
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38261 or add a "multi-line"
checkbox under the sign input and make the regex greedy/non-greedy to fix it.

The desired end result is to do this in python. The code below works as
expected. `\n` isn't finding new lines or paragraph breaks.
```
replace = document.createReplaceDescriptor()
replace.SearchRegularExpression = True
replace.SearchString = r"Pre\-Authorized\*\*\*\*(Pre\-Authorized[
\*]+)+\*\*\*Pre\-Authorized"
replace.ReplaceString = r""
document.replaceAll(replace)
```

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134747] sorting in calc can't be focused on letters alone

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134747

--- Comment #4 from foxtrot  ---
Aha... I understand, what you mean, but I don't agree. It's in both cases far
from text processing. Names and - in my case - song titles in a table are both
"data" of the type "character".
Your example of "von der Lippe" is to be solved by an additional column for
"von der" - a prefix that isn't relevant for sorting. I do something similar in
another table with movie titles, where I have a column for the article at the
beginning of a movie title, that is not relevant for sorting (the sixth sense,
the italian job...) (and I even do some calculation there... sure not with the
names).
But both Flemish family names and song titles can't be parted like this or
cleared in another useful way but considering only letters. And this setting/
option would now already cover two use cases (three, if we count movie titles,
too), and who knows how many more...

I too think, the "Keyboard" tab needs improvement.
There is a tooltip when hovering an entry. What information get users without
using the mouse?
Showing an uno-command helps advanced users, but ordinary users likely need
more information to distinguish the entries and find the desired one. Try it
with search term "center" for example.
The "Toolbars" tab shows the icon of an entry. Why not the "Keyboard" tab too?

@NISZ
I think you want to keep track of this one

FWIW: the (redundant) comment for step 3 is only true for older versions,
working fine in 7.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138755] New: Can't login to the documentfoundation wiki

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138755

Bug ID: 138755
   Summary: Can't login to the documentfoundation wiki
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

I once had an account on the DF wiki. I tried logging into it today, and
failed. So, I tried recreating it. That supposedly succeeded - I got a
confirmation email, clicked it, and supposedly my details got saved - but when
I now try to login through the "Login" link at the top of the wiki page, I am
directed to here:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main+Page

and the page says:

Log in

User cannot be authenticated.
[ ] Keep me logged in

and there's a button saying "Login with Pluggable Auth". The button does
nothing, apparently.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138725] Duplicate function names in Writer's Customize Keyboard dialog

Yes there probably should be a 'Description' panel to show the tooltip content,
here on the 'Keyboard' and for the 'Notebookbar' tab to match what is provided
for 'Menus', 'Toolbars', and 'Context Menus'

> Showing an uno-command helps advanced users, but ordinary users likely need

> The "Toolbars" tab shows the icon of an entry. Why not the "Keyboard" tab
> too?

Think that is the best we can do, absent restoration of the local help provided
descriptions, which are being pared down.

This code however doesn't notice the `\n` at the end.
```
replace = document.createReplaceDescriptor()
replace.SearchRegularExpression = True
replace.SearchString = r"Pre\-Authorized\*\*\*\*(Pre\-Authorized[
\*]+)+\*\*\*Pre\-Authorized\n"
replace.ReplaceString = r""
document.replaceAll(replace)
```

I think the current implementation is not ideal for ordinary users and I too
think the Keyboard tab needs improvement. However, I think it'll be a long time
before we see the Keyboard tab redesigned.

I think that, for now, giving better function names and eliminating duplicates
is a quick short term solution. The most difficult part would be to define new
names for these functions.

I could try to propose some names and share here for other to comment on.

Is this information already available in the code? If so, we could use it to
update the function names and provide better tooltips.

Seems like intentional design but I'll leave that for someone higher up in the
