This is such a low percentage issue and the visual glitch on document canvas is
transient, I don't see it as fixable. Perhaps when bug 103322 brings in
floating point positioning and consistent subpixel rendering for the VCL
canvas.

That also would be bug 139074 pasting into the Formula bar rather than into a
selected cell, which has now been corrected.

This issue of crash on paste into a Calc cell has not been confirmed.

Created attachment 168758

misregisterd line of text w/Skia raster rendering

Reducing the document canvas y-height so text can move out of view port without
the view crossing a page boundry, scrolling down & up with mouse wheel or
scroll bar "thumb" a single line of text can be made to lose its
registration--and the distorted "torn" text can move down or up out of view and
return and still be distorted.

But if moved far enough, or if the page scrolls to the next or prior page, the
text run will be refreshed and no longer mis-registered.

This occurs in a very low percentage of scroll movements <5% , but it does
occur with GDI default mode rendering, and with both Skia Vulkan and Skia
raster mode rendering. Did not check OpenGL rendering. Did not check if font
changes affect percentage of the line tear.

Dear Yan Pas,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Hi! I prefer to run the stable version of LibreOffice, since it's tested more,
and I don't need cutting-edge features immediately. I also like the Update
feature for the suite, since it lets me know when new versions of LibreOffice
are available.

However, it seems that the current "stable" version has been notifying me
there's an update for LibreOffice, but the only new version available is for
the "early adopters". I get notified every time I start the product, so I've
stopped checking the website now, since I still find no updates for the stable
version.

Will you please add a feature that, if the stable version of LibreOffice is
installed, only updates for the stable version are shown to the user?
(Alternately, this could be a configurable option, if that seems better to
you.)

Thank you!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139296] Text font size changes when scrolling document with a mouse

2021-01-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139296

I'm not sure why this bug has not been assigned to anyone because it is most
irritating and something that would turn potential users off to continued use
of the LibreOffice product suite.

At any rate, the issue with the tearing text still persists. Originally, I
found that doing a reload would solve the issue, but that would bring you back
up to the top of the document, which is not ideal because you might not
remember exactly where you were in the document before resorting to that
reload.

The next alternative is to scroll the page up or down until the infected area
is out of view, then scroll back. Considering how often this problem occurs,
this is also not an ideal solution.

Finally, I found another, more practical band aid, which is to click on the
Toggle Automatic Spell Checking button. That eliminates the problem, at least,
until the next time moments later. I just found that another approach that
works is clicking on the button right next to it, the Toggle Formatting Marks.

So, hopefully that brings everyone up to speed on this. Someone, please fix
this. One person said it also happened with the touchpad and arrow keys, but I
have only had it happen when using my mouse.

There is currently no import support for HEIC image format. You'll need to
convert external to LibreOffice.

I see filter import of HEIC "HEVC in HEIF" compressed image format as
counterpoint to AVIF "AV1 in HEIF" of bug 138668

The AV1 is more appealing for license, but HEVC is probably more common.

If libs and license allow, probably both should be implemented.

OK, when I present with a Windows build --either single monitor, or select a
second monitor so presenter console is shown--the presentation window is
labeled:

Presenting:

That corresponds to the environment string "STR_FULLSCREEN_SLIDESHOW" [1], so I
guess you could invoke that doing a launch form command line.

Otherwise the "Presenter console" window, if present, and the Impress edit
session are both labeled:

 - Impress

So key to identifying the correct window to expose is by recognizing the assigned to the presentation? Make it a good name?

@Cor, Regina do you see a better way in expert configuration?

I just realized the presenter view (that one that shows the slide, the next
slide and the comments) also has the same window title again. So actually there
are up to three windows after a presentation was started:

- Impress with document in editing mode
- Impress with document in presentation mode
- Impress with document in presenter view

They should have well distinguishable names.

I configured 'org.openoffice.Setup/Product/ooName to the value 'ooName' and
started an impress presentation. Jitsi-Meet still showed LibreOffice 6.

Then I restarted LibreOffice, and also in the newly started presentation I saw
the title LibreOffice 6.0.

Seems the above hit does nto work for me. Plus it shows the name might be
configurable but it is far from having a meaningful name for non-experienced
users. One can hardly assume users would configure preferences via advanced
settings just to find the presentation from conferencing software.

The best way if you want to understand better what is going on is to look at
the code:
https://github.com/LibreOffice/core/blob/90cc24d4728dc94a30865d3b3af9409d5967b45a/chart2/source/view/axes/ScaleAutomatism.cxx#L923

You can see that the additional space is mentioned in the comment, it is
explicitly calculated and not a side effect or a bug. When starting from 0, if
the max value is more that the largest tick * 20/21 (so "too close" to the
top), another gradation is added. In your example, if the largest value is more
than 20/21=0.9539095... then the maximum will be 1.2 and not 1.

It has been like this since at least 2007 (code history is more difficult to
get before that).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139486] New: FORMS: Height of fields couldn't be changed by key directly

2021-01-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139486

Bug ID: 139486
Summary: FORMS: Height of fields couldn't be changed by key
directly
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rob...@familiegrosskopf.de

Open a Writer document.
Go to Form → Text Box.
Draw a text box.
Right mouse click on the box → Control Properties.
Go to the field for "Height" and change it by typing a new value in the combo
field. Don't use the the possibility to change it by mouse.
Switch to the field for "Width".
The new value will be shown but nothing changed for the box. Close control
properties to change the new value.
Reopen control properties. Nothing has been saved.

Go 2 times to "Height", switch the value by typing something inside and move
the cursor to "Width".
Now the height of the text box will be changed.

This buggy behavior appears with LO 7.0.4.1 and also LO 7.1.0.1 on OpenSUSE
15.2 64bit rpm Linux with vcl:kf5

OS: Mac OS X (All)

Description:
I'm Working on a Macbook Pro 2012 (MAC OS v10.15.7, Intel Core i7) and using
LibreOffice v 7.0.3.1.

I have a new Libre text document and I want to first save the document, and use
a previously copied text string (from the clipboard) as the document name. The
copied- text string, no matter its length, will not paste in the "Save As" box
document name field.

Try it yourself: Highlight any text string (using ⌘-C), and verify that it is
on the clipboard (e.g. in Finder, go to Edit/Show Clipboard). Now go to a new
Libre text document and do Save As and try to paste (using ⌘-V) the clipboard
contents as the new document name in the Save As box. This does not work on a
Macbook using LibreOffice v 7.0.3.1.
Screen prints attached.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Highlight any text string (using ⌘-C), and verify that it is on the
clipboard
2. Open a new Libre text document and do Save As (or Save).
3. In the popup window, the default name "Untitled 1" will appear.
4. Now do a paste (⌘-V). No text is pasted in the document name field.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens.

Expected Results:
The text on the clipboard should be pasted as the document name in the Save As
box.

Reproducible: Always

Even though I understand why this being done, things being wrong about it:
(A) It's done with user permission
(B) (t's assumed as general rule (losing control)
(C) This is a kind of user responsibility, IMHO
(D) I'm unaware of this happening in Writer (and same argument can be made)
(E) you make assumptions of what the user wants.
(F) There is no way to opt out
(G) It's pretty inconsistent.. It's only valid this font (or number of fonts)

I personally see this as the undesired solution for the issue. And I'm some
point I start even starting using Mike argument. LibreOffice isn't MSO :P

Other options would be
(A) Set it to Arial; but think this is a no go
(B) Make it an save option; convert font for capability
(C) Put some setting in options if this should happen or not. I even consider
it being disabled by default (out of principle)

And I make a configuration screen where you can set specifics (or setup
wizard).. Same said about auto-correct. All sorts settings (features) are
assumed to be 'good' for everyone.. while I having my doubts.

There is always reasonable sized group hit by the so called feature. And
assumptions made. Which creates undesired effects.

Instead of arbitrary making assumptions about way to many user groups, maybe
wise to simply ask. Instead of throwing all sorts of things on them without
explicit consent.
You can still fill in the 'defaults' which should be good for average.. But at
least people being aware those settings being around (and can be changed)

Nudge + consent is better compared to patronizing we know what's good for you,
IMHO. People don't want to be told .. the want to choose.
And you get rid of those 'arbitrary' choice and the angry mob at losers side.

NotePad++ and UltraEdit have all sorts of templates to target specific groups.
LibreOffice Writer Normal Assistance/Support, Minimum support, Advanced (manual
configuration)..

Summary: CALC Optimal Column Width not working
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.3.1 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: saben...@yahoo.com

Description:
The Optimal Column Width feature no longer adjusts the width of each column to
fit the longest content of the cells in that column. It acts almost exactly
like the other column width feature that sets all the columns to the same
width, chosen in the included numerical input.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Highlight all the cells by clicking the box in the upper left corner of the
table.
2. Click Format in the top menu.
3. Hover over Columns in drop down.
4. Click Optimal Width... in menu expansion.
5. Click OK button in dialog.

Actual Results:
Even if you have manually adjusted each column to be the optimal width, it will
reduce the columns to the width in the numerical box in the dialog.

Expected Results:
The columns should expand or contract to be just slightly wider than any of the
content in the table body cells or header cells.

I am a new LE-Writer user. I had imported a word.docx file. This file among
other things included a list of hyperlinks for my automation hub. I saved this
file with the odt extension.

The one link I needed required editing before ctrl-click(ing).

The pre-edited link was:
http://192.168.1.170/hub/advanced/freeOSMemory

the changed link is:
http://192.168.1.104/hub/advanced/freeOSMemory

When I ctrl-click on the edited version the old link is sent to chrome.

I then saved the file, retried link = still wrong link set.

I saved the file, closed Writer reopened = same result (i.e. wrong link sent)

//-//
On another line, I manually typed the edited link = worked fine.

//-//
I created an new Writer document, copied ALL if the problem document into the
new document.
the now already edited link = worked fine.

//-//

I saved the document under a new name. In the new document, the link worked
correctly.

In the original document, I deleted all content except for the subject link.
not the link did not work at all. Ctrl-Click did nothing, Ctrl-double click
selected a word.

Could think of no additional test that might help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134728] Saving into single files inside Mail Merge is ignoring hidden paragraphs

Just checking with the original reporter as I have a similar issue.

Are you using the Writer UI to do the mail merge, or are you using a Basic
macro or some other automation?

Have you also checked in your options Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer >

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139480] New: Enabling/disabling change tracking in Calc doesn't set modified status

2021-01-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139480

Bug ID: 139480
Summary: Enabling/disabling change tracking in Calc doesn't set
modified status
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
Blocks: 116625, 139478

Start a new spreadsheet, or open an existing one, and toggle Edit -> Track
Changes -> Record.

=> The spreadsheet doesn't become modified, if it's closed without explicitely
saving it, the change in the setting is lost.

Observed in LO 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (2c9708cbb870483a8a1c93d722085be5f789d234),
3.3.0 / Ubuntu.

In Writer this is working fine, already in 3.3.0.
