https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137679 --- Comment #20 from b. --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #17) i have rarely heard more stupid nonsense than declaring code to be its own documentation. i know such approaches used to exist, but in cryptolanguages like C this is silly. in order to analyze idiosyncratic functions or errors of a program, there needs to be an explanation outside the code of what the program is supposed to do, how it is supposed to work, what restrictions it is subject to, and so on. 'we do fp-math as it is historically grown and our dear @Mike Kaganski (doesn't) understand it' is not enough (for me). > (In reply to b. from comment #16) > > If you can point me to an concise explanation where is explained how calc > > works with details about deviations to 'standard math' i'd possibly ask less > > silly questions ... > > Yes, it's documented in the source code. 'somewhat problematic' ... but not stupid enough to shock all their users and break their! backward compatibility, > It's for purpose that various standards do not define the order of evaluation. - on purpose? too difficult so far? or just forgotten? - if you say 'on purpose': 1. evidence please, 2. what purpose? > And then, if you think that it would "improve compatibility", then you are > breaking compatibility with our documents. Then, what about Excel following > the order used in Calc when opening ODS? - i admit it's a difficult thing, i'm yet short to know the ultima ratio, but i know it's relevant to care for, - imho it's not a problem of the file, but of calculation sequence at runtime, as of now i expect the results stored in the files to be different if saved by calc or ex$el, > It's just splitting hairs, and is absolutely useless to pursue this. - no, it would reduce plenty of problems we - and the users - are facing today, at least being aware of such things, > As said in the bug 55960 comment 22 cited here in comment 0, we only worry > about real problems, - it is! a real problem, - as it affects results, and - as you haven't been aware of it, > and suggestions that allow to improve calculations. - i hope you won't start citing Adolf Hitler? who once spouted such nonsense as: 'Only the one who can solve a task better is entitled to criticism.' no, we all make better progress if even the people who can not yet eliminate errors are allowed to point them out. > E.g., Excel gives 0 for SUM(1e20;-1;-1e20) and 1 for SUM(1e20;-1e20;-1), and > it would be just fine for Calc to start producing proper -1 for both; - that sentence gives some hope you change your stubborn mantra 'fp-math is imprecise, it has to stay like that' (i know that you worked for progress, need not to mention, but you humiliate and demotivate other people who try to do this to an extent ... well, we've talked about this before ... shake you ...) > trying to mimic Excel here is *not* a goal (which would be, if we accept this > bug). - it's a quite easy 5 step concept: 1. users demand what they understand, 2. they would understand correct math, 3. they wo

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141788 Bug ID: 141788 Summary: PDF conversion bad after editing along some steps Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.2.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: psch...@web.de Description: OS: LinuxMint 19.3-64 Mate | LO 7.1.2.2 | pdfshuffler 0.6.0 Procedure: Writer-PDFs of different files are arranged and saved by pdfshuffler anew as a new pdf file. This file is opened again by LO for tuning (pagination of entire file) and saving into a new file. When opened there are some changes: - tranparency of objects goes lost (no more trasparent) - text parts glitch and relocate Text glitching does *not* occur on LibreOffice 6.4.7.2, lost transparency also occurs on LibreOffice 6.4.7.2 Steps to Reproduce: LO 7.1.2.2 1. Edit a Writer file with different hard formats (bold, coloured text) and set a drawing on half transparency. 2. Export into pdf format. Start pdfshuffler, open pdf(s), save a a new pdf file. 3. Open on LO 7.1.2.2. and special hard formatted text glitches and transparency of drawing gets lost. Actual Results: Hard formatted (bold, colour) text glitches, tranparecy of drawing gets lost. Expected Results: text formatting and transparency should be preserved mainly. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141782 --- Comment #3 from Ingo Belka --- Thank you for your reply. I did a further research and I could find the Problem. Some weeks ago I set a background image for a page header of a sheet. Before the update everything was fine. After the update this background image was a part of each button and because of the size of the image the title content was to big for the size of the button. In the properties I couldn't seen this because the corresponding field was empty. But after a double click in the field of the property for the background image it was removed from the button and the title text now is visible again. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90580 --- Comment #17 from QA Administrators --- Dear Andreas Säger, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89920] inserting line break to cell from macro
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89920 --- Comment #12 from QA Administrators --- Dear Andras Timar, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141787 Bug ID: 141787 Summary: When trying to add Google Drive as a service, LibreOffice prompts for a 6 character pin. No such pin exists on Google. Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.7.2 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ronsonn...@gmail.com Description: Version: 6.4.7.2 Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: CL I want to access and edit my Google Drive documents. I tried to add Google Drive to the service. I enter my user name/password (correct because from my password manager) and then I get prompted for a 6-digit PIN. I check my phone and nothing was sent. My PIN works with Google services and when Google determines it is needed, I correctly get a text message from Google. Reading through comments from a Google search on this problem, LibreOffice has NOT posted a solution to this problem in a long time. Why? The problem is heavily documented in Google search. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a Google account with Google drive active. 2. Have correctly setup your mobile phone number with Google 3. Have successfully received Google two-factor authentication using text message to your phone. 4. Open LibreOffice on your Linux computer. 5. Try to add the Google Drive service 6. Enter your Google username/password at the prompt 7. Receive the prompt to enter the non-existent 6 digit PIN Actual Results: No PIN received by phone or email. Unable to proceed further. Expected Results: LibreOffice should be accepting the valid username/password and not prompting for a PIN. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.4.7.2 Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: CL -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So every time I add some text, a blank space, a Math object, another blank space and then some more text, I get the blue wavy underline indicating a grammar/spelling mistake. I think LO identifies this as two sequential blank spaces, so it flags it as an error. To disable this behavior, I have to disable the option "Checking spelling as you type". Disabling grammar checking does not have an effect here. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141783 Bug ID: 141783 Summary: ViewCursor does not work as expected Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: BASIC Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de Created attachment 171319 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=171319&action=edit Contains macro with ViewCursor Open attached document. It contains a macro to investigate the ViewCursor. Problems: (A) The method gotoEndOfLine() does not set the cursor at the end of the line. (B) The reported position is not "the cursor's coordinates relative to the top left position of the first page of the document." as said in the API of XTextViewCursor. It seems to be relative to the top left of the work area. Make the window wider to get free area left of the page and vary it. You get different position values. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123665] Inconsistent behavior of "find next" in slides and notes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123665 --- Comment #9 from David F Smith --- As requested, I retested under v7.0.5.2, and in summary, the behavior (which is inconsistent between slides and notes and between Enter Key and Find Next button) is as I reported. In the first tests, using the Enter key to mean "Find Next" in the Find bar, the behavior was exactly the same as in my original report: the first three presses of Enter display the three slides, with "Slide" highlighted, while the fourth displays the Notes from slide 1 with nothing highlighted. Additional presses do nothing. (This is different from the behavior in my Comment 6, and I cannot explain the difference.) In the second set of tests, using the down-arrow in the Find bar to mean "Find Next," the behavior was also exactly the same as in my original report: clicks 1-3 display the three slides, with "Slide" highlighted; click 4 displays the Notes from slide 1 with nothing highlighted; clicks 5-7 display the Notes from the three slides, with "slide" highlighted; click 8 displays slide 1 with nothing highlighted; and clicks 9-11 display the three slides, with "Slide" highlighted. And so on. In summary, the behavior that I see is as I originally reported. I can't explain what I saw in comment 6, nor can I explain why others saw nothing wrong. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 141781] New: Freeze when attempting to insert an image using a hyperlink instead of a file
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141781 Bug ID: 141781 Summary: Freeze when attempting to insert an image using a hyperlink instead of a file Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.7.2 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: uffr...@aol.com Description: The application sometimes freezes upon attempting to insert an image from a web source and then crashes after the OS detects the freeze. Also affects other LibreOffice applications that are open at the same time such as Calc. Reproduction of the error implies it happens most of the time, but sometimes it works as intended. Only appears to happen in Impress, Writer simply says the image can't be opened. Image used: https://www.nrc.gov/images/reading-rm/doc-collections/maps/power-reactors-operating.png Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open LibreOffice Impress 2. Click an option to insert an image 3. Enter hyperlink to image instead of a proper filename (Link attempted to be used in initial bug encounter: https://www.nrc.gov/images/reading-rm/doc-collections/maps/power-reactors-operating.png) 4. Click OK or otherwise input Actual Results: Program and all other open LibreOffice applications froze permanently, had to force close. Expected Results: Inserted the image properly, as if it were using an image off of the disk. Reproducible: Sometimes User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Actually worked properly once, implying that this is a bugged feature, though specifically for Impress as Writer said it could not be opened (without freezing).
