with EN or FR keyboard.

@Jorge, @pavelz: please write your keyboard and exactly which combinations
don't work.

(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #4)

> At least, after several minutes, it's still not opened.

Same result with
Version: 7.1.3.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

I could finally open the file in Word 2016, but it took a very long time. So
for me, the source file itself seems to be problematic and therefor the bug is
mor or less document related. So I suggest to close the bug. Telesto, feel free
to change it back to NEW with a short reasoning if you disagree and could test
it with the latest version of LO.

I think the "Add"-Operation is rather a workaround. It seems the paste flags

Dear wpeaton4,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Alas, I see what you mean. By "sheet tab" you mean the context menu

Are you using the Tabbed user interface? I think the tip assumes Standard
Toolbar UI and means "Sheet > Right-To-Left" from the menubar. But I agree,
the current wording is not clear at all and can lead to all kinds of
misunderstandings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142086] FORMATTING: Wrapping text around equations

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142086

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #8)
> @Regina, anything to add on wraping around an OLE formula?

Yes. We have two contrary use cases for Math formula, (A) a small formula
inline and (B) a formula in own paragraph. Dave apparently needs case (B).

The default is case (A). That means, that the frame style "Formula" is
automatically used, when a Math formula is inserted. This style has the anchor
type "as character" and that anchor type cannot be changed in the style. This
style has a padding, where zero padding should be, see bug 65067.

For use case (B) you need to change the anchor type individually for the
formula, or you need to define an own frame style derived from "Frame". That
one has the anchor type "to paragraph". In such a new own frame style you can
set the desired padding. You will need to apply that style after the formula is
inserted.

We might consider adding an option to select the preferred anchor type for
formula, which would reduce the cases, where the user has to set the anchor
type individually for each formula. Similar was done for inserting images.

There exists a third option: inserting a formula into a layout table. That is
done by the autotext FN. I personally do not like it, because it is not
possible to move paragraphs up and down with arrow keys across a table.

In case you need a formula in own paragraph often, defining an own autotext for
that might be a fourth option.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142111] New: LibreOffice Writer Sidebar has non-working Navigator Icon

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142111

Bug ID: 142111
Summary: LibreOffice Writer Sidebar has non-working Navigator
Icon
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: david.s...@agingsafely.com

Description:
In 7.1.2.2 Writer's sidebar has a grayed-out Navigator Icon. In the hamburger
menu, the other functions are list but not Navigator.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Look at the sidebar, see the grey Navigator icon
2. Look at the Hamberger menu above the sidebar, see that Navigator is missing
3.

Actual Results:
A grey Navigator icon
Navigator missing from the menu

Expected Results:
a working toggle for Navigator

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
It looks like someone half-implemented making Navigator part of the right pane.
I think that this would be a great idea, especially for small-screen systems
like my 13" MacBook Air.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142086] FORMATTING: Wrapping text around equations

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142086

That was a totally half-assed apology if it even was one, but I'll take it. :-)
Let's be civil from here on out. I admire your volunteer spirit and the support
you give to one of the most useful open-source/libre/free software applications
I'm using.

Let me take a moment to clarify my point.

To me, the idea of a formula in a frame is a work around. And a kludgy one at
best. Why? because it is different than the way text wraps around an image.
Wrapping text around an image takes little if any thought. Right-click,
properties. Oh, look! There's a tab for wrap. Done!

Contrast that to wrapping text around a formula. Right-click, properties. Oh,
look, there's a tab for wrap. What's this? All of the options are grayed out
and unavailable for me to select. Well, this sucks. How am I supposed to wrap
text around this [expletive deleted] formula.

This is how I envision it working. Gee, I'd really like to wrap text around
this formula so it doesn't spill out over multiple lines in a genuinely
visually displeasing way. I've never done it before, but I've wrapped text
around images. I wonder if its the same. Right-click, properties. Oh, look!
There's a tab for wrap. And it works exactly like it does for images. Isn't
that neat! I [expletive deleted] love LibreOffice! Honey, where's the
checkbook? I'm making a donation.

This is why I submitted the enhancement request.

Not a developer, just a TDF member and longtime LibreOffice QA volunteer.

I can't tell you how many enhancement/bug report are for features that are
already fully implemented in the project. If I were being snotty I would give
you a "RTFM", but I try to be kind.

Formula in your added frame is being "squashed" (compared to a non-frame
insertion) because it now has two sets of padding--for the formula OLE and for
the frame.

You've got the wrap you wanted, adjust the padding.

@Regina, anything to add on wraping around an OLE formula?

I highly doubt this is not an LO issue. If _no_ LO window had a proper icon,
then that would be a reasonable suspicion.

As for triviality - I disagree. It hampers usability and, when it manifests, it
is highly noticeable, i.e. it doesn't happen only in some niche usage scenario.
And you are constantly reminded of it.

I wonder if someone can try this with a plain-vanilla Debian (which Devuan is
exactly like except modulo the lack of systemd). If that's attempted and the
issue is not reproduced, then by all means mark it as WORKSFORME.

I would also add that beginning a reply with "Your point?" is probably not the
best way to foster good relations with the user community. I offered this
suggestion as an enhancement, not a bug. I spent valuable time creating a
clearly worded request with screenshots to back it up. I also donate money to
LibreOffice. In short, I created this enhancement request because I care about
the product. I believe the enhancement will create a more consistent and
polished user interface. If the project wishes to have continued input from the
community, the attitude that we are inconveniencing developers with these
requests needs to be dropped.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142086] FORMATTING: Wrapping text around equations

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142086

I agree the equation in a frame solves the text wrapping, but it alters the
look of the equation. The result is shorter and more squat than the original.
The equation cannot be resized to adjust this. There is a black border around
the equation that cannot be removed.

Also, the process of putting an equation in a container to be able to wrap text
around it is not intuitive. Wrapping text around an image is intuitive. I would
argue, for the sake of a consistent user interface this is still a valid
enhancement request. Not high priority by any means, but it would make the user
experience more consistent.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142098] Calc: pasting comment clears cell contents

Martin Wilck changed:

   What|Removed |Added

(Hi, I'm the person who reported this to Markéta on SUSE bugzilla).

I can see that it's documented to work this way. But it makes no sense to me.
Comments aren't cell contents. If nothing except "Comments" is activated below
"Selection", why would the user also have to choose "Add", too? The expectation
is that the comments and *only* the comments are pasted, otherwise the user
would have selected at least one of the other "Selection" options besides
"Comments", e.g. "Text" or "Numbers".

And if this really is how "paste special" should behave, why isn't it the case
for pasting "Formats"? In that case, users don't have to select "Add" to paste
the formats and nothing else. This is inconsistent at least.

Can you provide a rationale for this behavior?

Not sure if this matters, but Excel doesn't require selecting "Add":

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/insert-comments-and-notes-in-excel-bdcc9f5d-38e2-45b4-9a92-0b2b5c7bf6f8#ID0EBACAAA=Windows
https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/1258-excel-copy-comments-from-cell-to-another.html

(I can't test with Excel, because the only version I have is Excel/Web in o365,
which doesn't have general "Paste special" functionality at all; same for
Google Docs).

The screenshot in the 2nd reference above suggests that, in Excel, the
"Operation" selection is actually inactive / greyed out when "Comments" are
selected only.

I found another equally weird and possibly related issue: When pasting "Text"
only into a cell which has a comment, the comment of the target cell (the one
pasted into) is deleted. This is highly unexpected, at least by yours truly.
Selecting "Add" doesn't change this behavior. Actually, I haven't figured out
how to paste anything into a cell in LO 7.2 without destroying the existing
comments on that cell (well, pasting "Formats" only seems to work). This
definitely differs from the behavior of both Excel and Google Docs.

If you think this is not a bug, please provide some convincing arguments.

I presume you have no problem in e.g. writer main document with the same
sequence. It works ok for me with the stock Bosnian IM under Fedora 34 GNOME
and sequence like AltGr+1,a so I don't have a route to reproduce.

At a technical level what I expect to happen is WeldEditView::Command gets
these special events and passes them on the EditView. The source of the events,
for gtk, should be vcl/unx/gtk3/gtk3gtkinst.cxx from the IMHandler class there.

   rWrtSh.SetCurNumRule( *pRule, false, sContinuedListId );

[If the selection spans multiple numbering rules, the one at the cursor might
be identical to the one being joined. So this isn't going to be consistent in
every scenario, but it would cover the normal case - which should be good
enough.]

But this isn't good enough because IsNumRuleStart/SetNumRuleStart only affects
pPaM->GetPoint() (the end of the selection), so instead we need to somehow step
through the selection and check each para if it isNumRuleStart for a different
numRule.

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142102

(In reply to DarkTrick from comment #3)
> Spacing / padding settings of header should be 0 by default, because:
>
> (1) Increasing it by hand on the page is easy and very intuitive

Wrong. Vertical ruler is off by default. Additionally, you can't increase
*spacing* using the ruler - only header height. And any manual adjustment there
disables AutoFit Height setting, that is on by default, and allows people in
general not bother about the height at all, while keeping the comfortable
spacing.

> (2) Reducing it is difficult. One has to know what to change ("spacing") and
> how to change it (page style -> header -> Spacing).

This only asks for a control on the vertical ruler to make it possible, not for
changed defaults.

> (3) By default the handling looks un-intuitive, because the "adjusted size"
> (red arrow in the screenshot) is suggesting something different, than what
> actually happens (characters are hidden)

The non-0 spacing allows to have ... well, spacing between header text and text
body. It is normal, and not having it would look unnatural. And actually the
problem only appears when one tries to use the ruler to make direct changes,
actually ruining all useful defaults and automation, thus no defaults would be
good.

Note that both OnlyOffice and MS Word (both based on the same document model)
use completely different page model compared to Writer, so no direct comparison
is useful.

If someone wants a different default, it's easy to create a custom template,
and set it the default.

My 2c.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142108] New: Calc chart loses number formatting on bars when pasted in Writer doc wher shows all decimal parts instead of using original format setting

2021-05-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142108

Bug ID: 142108
Summary: Calc chart loses number formatting on bars when pasted
in Writer doc wher shows all decimal parts instead of
using original format setting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gstr1...@gmail.com

Description:
Pasted bar-chart bar in

Writer shows 4.12345678 while its original in
Calc shows 4.12

A chart which has decimal values shown on bars loses cell level formatting and
shows all decimals in Writer (seems like 4.123456768) instead showing the value
in the original format which was set in Calc (like 4.12) It worked different
way in previous versions.
- In 6.2.0.3 if I have copy pasted a chart from Calc to Writer, decimal value
formatting was the same in Writer. (4.00 was correct too)
- In 6.4.7 the whole numbers are shown without any decimal part but decimal
numbers are shown the same way as they are formatted in Calc.

The correct way would be to show values exactly the same format.
if in Calc
the source value is 4 and value shown on bar is 4.00 Writer must show 4.00
the source value is 4.1234 and value shown on bar is 4.12 Writer must show 4.12

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a table like this in Calc
col1 col2
row1 4 4.12345678912345

2 format BOTH cells with numeric values to show exactly 2 decimals
(format cells, category "number" options Decimal places: 2)
you should see 4.00 and 4.12

3. create bar chart from data in point 1)

4. right click on chart /EDIT

5. right click on any bar in chart /Insert Data Labels (to show values on bars)

6. click out from chart to leave edit mode

7. copy bar chart to clipboard

8. open new text document from file/New/text document menu

9. paste Chart from clipboard to the text document

Actual Results:
in Writer's text document bar chart bars show "4" and "4.12345678912345"

Expected Results:
to show exactly the same format as it was in Calc on bar chart:
"4.00" and "4.12"

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Version: 7.1.2.2 (x86) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 8a45595d069ef5570103caea1b71cc9d82b2aae4
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

I was informed about this error from other 3 people who could not use my charts
due to this error. I could reproduce it after that on my machine.
I used portable version for error reporting because I need to use the installed
version 6.2.0.3 daily, which does not have this error.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142102] Header is hidden, if "small enough"

I would then like to ask, if UX could take a quick look at this:

Suggestion
===
Spacing / padding settings of header should be 0 by default, because:

(1) Increasing it by hand on the page is easy and very intuitive

(2) Reducing it is difficult. One has to know what to change ("spacing") and
how to change it (page style -> header -> Spacing).

(3) By default the handling looks un-intuitive, because the "adjusted size"
(red arrow in the screenshot) is suggesting something different, than what
actually happens (characters are hidden)

Backwards-compatibility
---

To stay "backwards-compatible", the initial header height could be set to a
value of [former default header height] + [former default spacing].

Comparison
--
- OnlyOffice does it as explained above (this is the closest to MS office, that
I have)

Workaround:
===
If you have a font installed, that does not reserve space for those certain
characters (like IPAPGothic ), you can manually set the first character to that
font.
