https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142312 Bug ID: 142312 Summary: Draw cannot decrypt PDF with AES-256 encryption. Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: yury.dubin...@gmail.com Created attachment 172052 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172052=edit PDF file with AES-256 encryption I have attached two files: encrypted with 128 bit key (RC4) and with 256 bit key (AES-256). Draw can open files with RC4 encryption, but not with AES-256. Other viewers such as Adobe Reader, Edge, Chrome / Chromium, Firefox, Evince, Okular, and GIMP accept AES-256 encryption. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open attached file with Draw the password for both files is abc. 2. Open attached file with any of above viewers. Current behaviour: 1. We get the message “Version incompatibility. Incorrect file version. “. After press OK as expected we get the second message: “General Error. General input/output error.” Expected behaviour: 1. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142311 Bug ID: 142311 Summary: Draw prompts for password when the PDF is encrypted by empty password. Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.0.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: yury.dubin...@gmail.com Created attachment 172051 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172051=edit PDF with encrypted using empty password This issue is related to the bug Bug 49697 , but the point of view is different. I have many financial statements that are encrypted using empty password. There are reasons, mostly relevant for Adobe products, for using empty passwords. I attached a demo PDF encrypted via qpdf. All viewers except Draw, don't prompt for password when the password is null. I tested the following viewers: on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) with Adobe Reader, Chrome / Chromium, Firefox, Evince, Okular, GIMP, and ImageMagic, and others. On Windows 10 with Adobe Reader, Chrome / Chromium, Firefox and Edge. Even ImageMagic which has problems with decryption silently opens such files. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open attached file with Draw on Linux and Windows 2. Open attached file with any of above viewers. Current behaviour: 1. Draw prompts for password . Also see the attached screenshot. 2. Press Cancel or leave the password field empty and press OK. The document will be open 3. Any of other viewers open the file without a prompt. Expected behaviour: 1. Draw should open the file without any prompt like other viewers. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142309] New: The text of many PDF documents is not full justified in Draw.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142309 Bug ID: 142309 Summary: The text of many PDF documents is not full justified in Draw. Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.1.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: yury.dubin...@gmail.com Created attachment 172045 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172045=edit example of PDF with not full justified text I have collected many PDF document which text has to by fill justified, but Draw doesn’t do it All these PDFs are displayed correctly in other viewers. I checked on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) with Adobe Reader, Chrome / Chromium, Firefox, Evince, Okular, GIMP, and ImageMagic, and others. On Windows 10 with Adobe Reader, Chrome / Chromium, Firefox and Edge. Only Draw has this problem on both platforms. I've attached an example with an actual PDF file and a screenshot that compares the view in one of the above viewers to the view in Draw. Just in case, I’ve attached another screenshot. The file from the Bug 49697 also has problems with not justified lines. I re-attached the file from Bug 49697. Probably Draw doesn’t have a mechanism to full justify text. Wrong justification prevents DRAW from being used directly for work with these files. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open attached file with Draw on Linux and Windows 2. Open attached file with any of above viewers Current behaviour: 1. The document open in Draw has wrong formatting due to not justified lines.2Compare with any other viewer. Or see my screenshot. 2. When the document, opened in Draw, is being exported as PDF the new PDF has wrong formatting because the text is not full justified Expected behaviour: 1. The text formatting is correct. The text is full justified. 2. After being exported from Draw, as PDF the new PDF document looks identically to the original document. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142308] New: Wrong line wrapping of many PDF documents in Draw
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142308 Bug ID: 142308 Summary: Wrong line wrapping of many PDF documents in Draw Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: yury.dubin...@gmail.com Created attachment 172041 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172041=edit Example of PDF with wrong line wrapping on Linux and Windows I have collected many PDF document which have the line wrapping problems with Draw. All these PDFs are displayed correctly in other viewers. Incorrect line wrapping prevents DRAW from being used directly for work with these files. Also, I believe there is another problem related to this. In the most of my PDF examples with unwrapped text Draw displays files equally wrong on Windows and Linux. However, some PDF texts are displayed differently on Linux and Windows. Let's just look at the file from Bug 49697. I have attached the file from this bug report and a second screenshot comparing the page 4 views of this file on Windows and Unix. On Windows, the text is wrapped correctly, but on Linux it is not. It might be a problem with the default font. However, all other viewers in the above list display this PDF file the same way on both platforms. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open attached file with Draw on Linux and Windows and open attached file with any of above viewers 2. Export the open in Draw file as PDF. 3. Open the file from Bug 49697 with Draw on Windows and Linux. Current behaviour: 1. The document open in Draw has wrong formatting due to unwrapped lines. Compare with any other viewer. Or see my screenshot. 2. When the document, opened in Draw, is being exported as PDF the new PDF has corrupted content because all long unwrapped lines are right trimmed. 3. The page 4 of the file from Bug 49697 looks differently on Windows and Linux. Expected behaviour: 1. The text formatting is correct. All lines are wrapped per the document design. 2. After being exported from Draw, as PDF, the new PDF document looks identically to the original document. 3. The file from Bug 49697 looks identically on Windows and Linux. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137679 --- Comment #68 from dante19031...@gmail.com --- (In reply to b. from comment #67) > from a short amateur! look in > https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/115113/4/sc/source/core/tool/ > arraysumSSE2.cxx#30 I would think that: > - you tried to add 'Neumaier' into 'Kahan' and 'pairwise' instead of > replacing the whole construct ... unnecessarily complicated? and that > - 'err2' and 'err4' have 'fallen by the wayside', i.e. are calculated in > 'sum2' and 'sum4' but not evaluated in the rest of the construct ... ??? I don't completely understand it. But by the info I found. If I'm wrong don't hesitate to correct me. The SSE2 does seem to make use of intel's SSE2 by giving instructions at almost machine level, allowing direct access to the register. I suppose the purpose is to boost speed (by a lot) (wikipedia says some AMD also use it). We are performing 4 sums at the same time to use an optimization called loop unrolling. It is supposed to speed up results by making the 4 operations at same time. It's usually what modern hardware support. However I'm not sure if it stills useful. It's generally only worth it if the loop is very simple. So in order to speed up calculations we enter in the very complicated stuff. It's quite hardcore to find good documentation to that kind of thing. Had to guess it by the functions definitions on the header, which by the way is compiler specific. I'm not even sure it is part of the standard. I don't believe Intel's particular stuff could be part of the standard. Due to those reasons I had to go for raw Kahan (does not sum the error at the end, so in the last operations the error is ignored: err2 and err4 ). > i'm in good hope you didn't forget to add the accumulated error as a last > step (difference between Kahan and Neumaier) It's there. And everything was re-checked by expert programmers (while patch review). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137679] Implement a Kahan summation algorithm to reduce the numerical error in the total
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137679 --- Comment #67 from b. --- hello @Dante, from a short amateur! look in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/115113/4/sc/source/core/tool/arraysumSSE2.cxx#30 I would think that: - you tried to add 'Neumaier' into 'Kahan' and 'pairwise' instead of replacing the whole construct ... unnecessarily complicated? and that - 'err2' and 'err4' have 'fallen by the wayside', i.e. are calculated in 'sum2' and 'sum4' but not evaluated in the rest of the construct ... ??? bear with me if i'm mistaken ... even if that's not 'the point' I would say 'now we have the fish by the ears' :-) > I could say I'm a precision freak and always try to get the best possible > result even if at expenses of calculation time. :-) > However calc philosophy is the opposite. :-( > I did try to use Klein ... downgraded to Neumanier sum. if Neumaier would work it would be 'something', > Why Neumanier with calc and Neumanier with C++ differ. I've rechecked all the > code involved in the sum and seems legitimate. :-( but!: i have often faced incomprehensible problems in life and in various fields, from the point where i had a working and a non-working way to compare them ... all problems lost. They became 'analyzable'. insofar :-) > My theory is that the problem is in the SSE2 code. > ... > That way someone who understands it could fix it. I am hopeful that someone will find it, > Sorry to disappoint again. no, not at all, not in the least, you have moved things forward! great! > This is the sum code: void add(double x_i) { double t = m_fSum + x_i; if (std::abs(m_fSum) >= std::abs(x_i)) m_fError += (m_fSum - t) + x_i; else m_fError += (x_i - t) + m_fSum; m_fSum = t; } i'm in good hope you didn't forget to add the accumulated error as a last step (difference between Kahan and Neumaier), and thus can't contribute to the coding part, I'm glad if you have looked through my 'in sheet' attempts and also think that they work, then sooner or later a solution will arise ... thank you very much! P.S. 1e16 and 1e17 'holding' might have been an error by me taking the wrong dataset, or putting it into the wrong sheet, or messing up 0.1, 1e1, 1e-1, 1, 10 ... or recalc / no autocalc or whatever, retrying it doesn't hold, but holds in gnumeric, my general idea is that pretty good accuracy is possible as it's achieved by gnumeric, i've asked Morten how they do and he said 'use an extension of Kahan summation', as @Mike Kaganski is afraid LO might get trouble looking at gnumeric for inspiration i have additional asked if Morten would see a problem in that, not yet answered, will keep you posted. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It has text consisting of single characters. That makes the area good visible, which is occupied by the shape in case of wrap mode 'Square' in Word or 'parallel' in LibreOffice respectively. LibreOffice makes a tight wrap to the bounding box, whereas Word wraps to the full shape. The error happens with custom shape, where the bounding box of the shape is different from the full shape. Such shapes are e.g. the types 'chord', 'partial circle', 'arc' or 'block arc'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
