2021-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 142696

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

  Reporter: heiko.tie...@documentfoundation.org

The attachment 172653 contains a chart (embedded OLE object) and despite the
document is read-only it is possible to start the chart module per double-click
and modify the object. I wonder if this is a security/safety risk.

Double-clicking e.g. Rectangle tool makes the command "sticky", i.e. one may
continue creating more rectangles after the first one. This is similar to how
format paintbrush operates (see bug 59828).

All tools (and not only in Draw) should get a hint like the one implemented in
bug 59828.

hang-lo.odt

Opening the attached document "hang-lo.odt" in LibreOffice (version 6.2 or
later) causes LibreOffice to become unresponsive, with 100% CPU utilization on
one core.

The first page of the document is displayed, but then the user interface stops
responding and the application must be killed to recover.

LibreOffice 6.1.6.3 can open the document fine.

In theory, just anything may affect integrity, if LO has a bug related to this
specific piece. Hard to tell if URLs affect this specific case - it's better to
not try to guess, but follow the backup-upgrade procedure and find out for
sure.

:-)

Yes it may be. Try with clean profile, measure start time of older and newer
versions, report it. Definitely a separate thing :-)

No, I refer not to a physical disk corruption (and so not to something
identifiable by chkdsk), although such disc corruptions indeed could cause this
(but such things would be not possible to fix in LibreOffice code, even in
theory). What I am thinking about is some problem in LibreOffice (either in
older version generating an invalid profile, or in newer version considering
valid profiles as invalid). And this could only be identified by backing up the
profile [1] from time to time, and especially before upgrading, so that if the
problem appears, one could then try again with the profile restored from
backup, check if restored backup also gets the setting "reset"; maybe check if
older version still has the setting correct (downgrading the version);
inspecting the setting in the profile before and after running the new version
(to see if it changes) ... and finally filing the bug with the "good" profile
attached, to allow devs to try and see what in the profile causes the problem
(in the hope that it would also happen on others' system).

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142666

I have been affected on a number of occasions.
The changes are never catastrophic - more of a pain in the derriere and once
the impact is noted it's generally just a case of ascertaining where the user
parameter is to be reset to the previous value.
It was originally more concerning when the "sort lists" disappeared leaving
only the (6?) existing default settings - Not quite sure why I get the Israeli
calendar though!
Is there a procedure I can run periodically to detect any potential corruption
in my user profile - I assume when you refer to "file corruption" you are
referring to something potentially identifiable by a chkdsk command as it's
probably impossible to identify that something has changed a binary "true" to
"false" without physical damage to the structure?

OTOH, unlikely it's LibreOffice locale: the unit testing uses a fixed en-US
locale, and I caught the problem when the unit test that I now disabled was
failing locally.

Maybe system locale then? But despite I have a localized (Russian) Windows, I
use a en-US MUI on it, so ... confusing.

True

> @Mike, is it feasible a routine release build upgrade would clobber this
> setting in user profile?

Upgrade will *never* touch any user profile; there's absolutely no code there
that could (even in theory) do that.

However, theoretically it's possible that some *existing* data in the user
profile could cause LibreOffice to consider the profile corrupt, and result in
the profile's re-creation. Then I'd expect the value to revert to defaults, and
for this setting, default is true, as you mentioned. Yet, this is not truly a
problem of upgrade, but of the data in registry - and the only way to handle
that would be to have either copy of the data that is considered invalid by
newer versions (if it's in fact valid), or a scenario that generates that
invalid data; and that is close to impossible (so far, we have ~zero bug
reports with such kind of info).

Can not cofirm behavior, but that value should remain in user profile on
version upgrade.

The SID_SC_OPT_SYNCZOOM default setting [1] is 'true'. Do not beleive it will
affect existing Spreadsheets and on toggle is applicable just when creating new
shhets/documents.

Recorded to user profile (i.e. into registrymodifications.xcu):

false

@Mike, is it feasible a routine release build upgrade would clobber this
setting in user profile?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142693] New: Libreoffice Writer is not reading user page sizes from docx file

2021-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142693

Bug ID: 142693
Summary: Libreoffice Writer is not reading user page sizes from
docx file
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: abhay_homep...@yahoo.com

Description:
Libreoffice Writer is used to create a .docx file with page size of A1
dimensions.
As A1 dimension is not a standard available in page styles, user page style
with dimensions of 23.4 inch X 33.1 inch is applied.
This is saved into the .docx file. The same is visible even when opening the
file in MS Office.
But when the file is again opened in Libreoffice Writer, the page sizes somehow
reset to 0 inch x 0 inch.
Upon setting the page size manually, the display of pages is back to as it was
previously.
Please help fixing the User page sizes not getting applied correctly for docx
files.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a .docx file
2.change page size to user dimensions like A1 paper size (23.4inch X 33.1inch)
3.save the file and close
4.reopen the file to see that page dimensions reset to 0inch x 0inch

Actual Results:
page sizes reset to 0inch X 0inch

Expected Results:
actual page size from user sizes should get applied

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Seen in previous 7.X releases of Libreoffice also.

Dear Owen Savill,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

I restarted LO Calc in Safe Mode and loaded the .ods workbook.
After selecting rows in the Table I was successful in Deleting Rows with
Ctrl-Minus. In this case, the file originated from Excel but the sheet
containing the Table had its rows of data contents pasted from the Clipboard
while running Calc.

I restarted Calc in normal mode, opened the same file, repeated the same
Ctrl-Minus delete row action, and Calc crashed as before.

Apparently, something is loading in Normal mode that causes the problem.
I am a noob Calc user, just beginning to migrate from years of Excel
experience. If you can suggest other things I can do to research this problem
please advise.

Thank You,
...Patrick

The crash I reported resulted after I had completely uninstalled LibreOffice,
used Revo Uninstaller to make sure there was nothing lingering, and installing
a fresh copy. The first thing I did was to open the spreadsheet in question,

Sample ODP with simple table.

For me this is not a regression, but it depends on the row height, and whether
the row is inserted above or below (it's fine if the row is inserted below).
Ie. with the attached sample the behavior is even reproducible in 3.3.0:
right-click a table cell, choose Row -> Insert.., and pick Before.

I guess inserting rowsd above and below shouldn't behave differently.

2021-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142692

Bug ID: 142692
Summary: Python script connecting to LO instance fails
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: bibisected, bisected, regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: framework
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

CC: ilmari.lauhakan...@libreoffice.org,
noelgran...@gmail.com
Blocks: 127593

Follow steps from bug 126582, copied below slightly modified:

1. Run LO Impress as `soffice --impress
--accept="socket,host=localhost,port=2002;urp;StarOffice.ServiceManager"`
2. Dismiss a "Template" window, so you're left with a new presentation of a
single slide
3. Run the attached python script, attachment 153018 (it creates 2 new slides
and puts a text on them)

=> Error when connecting to LO:
...
File "test.py", line 16, in connectToLO
return (desktop.CurrentComponent, smgr)
__main__.RuntimeException: Binary URP bridge disposed during call

Observed in LO 7.2.0.0.alpha1+ (e96554b67b17f9d3d91b0bb1f29ab0b9cdc43dcb) /
Ubuntu.
No issue in 7.1.0.3.

Open the document and scroll all the way down to the end with all the lorem

indent. My guess it this happens with numbered lists as well.

@Michael Warner the formatting of this HTML has been retained on the document
you have created. It's using a monospaced font. As such, the circumstances has
changed and the bug isn't present.

As I've pointed in my original report, it's a specific sample that produces the
bug. Paper has to be set to A4 using standard borders, and the text must be
pasted unformatted.

This bug was filed from the crash reporting server and is
br-c98af06b-d81a-4a7e-a31a-8d1ab9426003.
=

During a Calc EDITING session on a Table, an attempt to Delete Rows
(Ctrl-Minus) crashes Calc, repeatable with a single row selected, with multiple
rows selected, with Autofilter On and Off, with a single cell selected, with a
single row selected by clicking on the row number label.

The file came originally from Excel 365, but was converted to .ods format. The
Table is a new table created in that workbook. The same problem occurs when
deleting rows in a Table originally created in the Excel 365 application.

This issue is confirmed for Linux Mint, but may be an issue with other Linux
distros as well.

Open a document and then the Find and replace dialogue (Ctrl H). Perform some
tests to make sure that all the shortcuts in the dialogue work.

EXPECTED RESULT: The letter corresponding to the shortcut for the command key
should be underlined (X for "Find next"; R for "Replace" and so on). The
corresponding shortcut should work.

ACTUAL RESULT: No letters are underlined and none of the shortcuts are working.

The non-functioning "Replace" shortcut has apparently been resolved (see Bug
123825). But the absence of shortcut underlining, which seems to be a Linux
(not windows) issue, and the non-functioning "Find next" (not to mention other
shortcut?) is still an issue.

The observation is valid. Not sure if it was intentional or an oversite as
Contextual Single was being refined. Standard (Single) 'Single Toolbar' shows a
TB, and IIRC the full NB Single was dropped as for bug 125040, which does
remain open.

@Maxim, Andreas -- thoughts? Still work to do maybe, and did Maxim's conceptual
approach [1] for bug 125040 (agreed to in bug 124835) actually get implemented?
Looked, but I get a bit confussed following the 'Contextual Single' mode in
source.

Sorry, I don't quite understand the first sentence you wrote.
In as far as I have tried more.
I believe it's the same bug as
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127072 .
No problem with surrogate pairs directly.
CTL, CJK, even Basic Latin (Precomposed character) also have problems.
The second codepoits or more have been discarded (when type via AltGr)

Regards.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142653] Contextual Single user interface shows no toolbar

2021-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142653

Created attachment 172656
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172656&action=edit
screenshot of default Contextual Single toolbar for 4 main components (LO 7.2)

This screenshot puts side-to-side the default Contextual Single toolbar of all
4 main LibreOffice components, at startup, before performing any action on the
new document. From top to bottom:

- Draw
- Impress
- Writer
- Calc

Notice how the three first components have a default toolbar with many useful
tools, without requiring any extra action. They also have some items in common,
like the Undo, Paste and Insert Image elements, which in my opinion should be
present in the default toolbar of all 4 main LO components.

Calc does not have one, and the formula toolbar cannot be considered to be the
"contextual single toolbar" as it does not change significantly or disappear
depending of what the user is editing (for example, it is still present when an
image is selected even though formula are irrelevant to images).

Thanks Stuart.
Interesting, I can't reproduce either on another laptop, running Ubuntu 20.04
with a fresh install of LO 7.2:

Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha1+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 399a6472f666ae6c3e20b6f8367f9fd089c15605

TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time:
2021-06-05_17:38:40
Calc: threaded

And then went back to the other laptop, reset to factory settings (settings,
interface modifications, user profile) and can't reproduce anymore.

Some weird fluke apparently. Closing now as NOTABUG, but do change if there is
a more appropriate status.
