No, I refer not to a physical disk corruption (and so not to something identifiable by chkdsk), although such disc corruptions indeed could cause this (but such things would be not possible to fix in LibreOffice code, even in theory). What I am thinking about is some problem in LibreOffice (either in older version generating an invalid profile, or in newer version considering valid profiles as invalid). And this could only be identified by backing up the profile [1] from time to time, and especially before upgrading, so that if the problem appears, one could then try again with the profile restored from backup, check if restored backup also gets the setting "reset"; maybe check if older version still has the setting correct (downgrading the version); inspecting the setting in the profile before and after running the new version (to see if it changes) ... and finally filing the bug with the "good" profile attached, to allow devs to try and see what in the profile causes the problem (in the hope that it would also happen on others' system). https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142666 --- Comment #5 from Colin --- I have been affected on a number of occasions. The changes are never catastrophic - more of a pain in the derriere and once the impact is noted it's generally just a case of ascertaining where the user parameter is to be reset to the previous value. It was originally more concerning when the "sort lists" disappeared leaving only the (6?) existing default settings - Not quite sure why I get the Israeli calendar though! Is there a procedure I can run periodically to detect any potential corruption in my user profile - I assume when you refer to "file corruption" you are referring to something potentially identifiable by a chkdsk command as it's probably impossible to identify that something has changed a binary "true" to "false" without physical damage to the structure? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Definitely > Do not beleive it will affect existing Spreadsheets and on toggle > is applicable just when creating new shhets/documents. True > @Mike, is it feasible a routine release build upgrade would clobber this > setting in user profile? Upgrade will *never* touch any user profile; there's absolutely no code there that could (even in theory) do that. However, theoretically it's possible that some *existing* data in the user profile could cause LibreOffice to consider the profile corrupt, and result in the profile's re-creation. Then I'd expect the value to revert to defaults, and for this setting, default is true, as you mentioned. Yet, this is not truly a problem of upgrade, but of the data in registry - and the only way to handle that would be to have either copy of the data that is considered invalid by newer versions (if it's in fact valid), or a scenario that generates that invalid data; and that is close to impossible (so far, we have ~zero bug reports with such kind of info). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125770 --- Comment #6 from QA Administrators --- Dear Owen Savill, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142689 --- Comment #2 from Patrick McKinley --- I restarted LO Calc in Safe Mode and loaded the .ods workbook. After selecting rows in the Table I was successful in Deleting Rows with Ctrl-Minus. In this case, the file originated from Excel but the sheet containing the Table had its rows of data contents pasted from the Clipboard while running Calc. I restarted Calc in normal mode, opened the same file, repeated the same Ctrl-Minus delete row action, and Calc crashed as before. Apparently, something is loading in Normal mode that causes the problem. I am a noob Calc user, just beginning to migrate from years of Excel experience. For me this is not a regression, but it depends on the row height, and whether the row is inserted above or below (it's fine if the row is inserted below). Ie. with the attached sample the behavior is even reproducible in 3.3.0: right-click a table cell, choose Row -> Insert.., and pick Before. Open a document and then the Find and replace dialogue (Ctrl H). Perform some tests to make sure that all the shortcuts in the dialogue work. EXPECTED RESULT: The letter corresponding to the shortcut for the command key should be underlined (X for "Find next"; R for "Replace" and so on). The corresponding shortcut should work. ACTUAL RESULT: No letters are underlined and none of the shortcuts are working. The non-functioning "Replace" shortcut has apparently been resolved (see Bug 123825). Interesting, I can't reproduce either on another laptop, running Ubuntu 20.04 with a fresh install of LO 7.2: Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha1+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 399a6472f666ae6c3e20b6f8367f9fd089c15605 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2021-06-05_17:38:40 Calc: threaded And then went back to the other laptop, reset to factory settings (settings, interface modifications, user profile) and can't reproduce anymore. Some weird fluke apparently. Closing now as NOTABUG, but do change if there is a more appropriate status. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
