[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143153] New: Editing Crash when grouping Text (Fit to Frame) and object
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143153 Bug ID: 143153 Summary: Editing Crash when grouping Text (Fit to Frame) and object Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: saywel...@gmail.com Crash when grouping: 1. Create a circle 2. Click the Text Box icon, click once on the page and type A 3. Right-click on the text box frame, select Text; untick Fit Height to Text and untick Fit Width To Text, tick Fit To Frame. 4. Group the two items and crash. If the file is saved and closed before grouping, then the objects can be grouped on re-opening the file. If you then go into the group and re-apply the Fit To Frame then crash happens on exiting the group. Reproducible: Always. Did not try in Safe Mode, but tried also in LO 7.2 alpha Dev which also crashes. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128204] ODS file opens slow but after on/off Wrap text automatically it opens very fast (because of adapting row height)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128204 --- Comment #12 from Kevin Suo --- ODF Spec. ''' 20.394 style:use-optimal-row-height The style:use-optimal-row-height attribute specifies that a row height should be recalculated automatically if content in the row changes. The defined values for the style:use-optimal-row-height attribute are: •false: row height should not be recalculated automatically if content in the row changes. •true: row height should be recalculated automatically if content in the row changes. ''' Well, from this ODF standard, this attribute defines that the row height should be recalculated if the content in this row is changed (i.e., at the time of editing), rather than when the document is open. At time of editing when the row height is recalculated, a new row height value is determined and is saved to the ODF file. At file open, the application should use the defined row height value directly rather than recalculating each of them. For all new ODF spreadsheet docs there is a defined row height for each row. The rational of recalculating the row heights at file open as in the commit of bug 62268 is that for some mannully generated ODF files there is no row height value defined in the xml file, normally because those programs are not professional OpenDocument Producers and they simply want an ODF Viewer like Calc to calculate the row height for them when the file is open by the user. And I agree that in such case (if there is no defined row height value) Calc should help to recalculate. So, consider both bug 62268 and the properly generated ODF filed, the fix should be: if rowHeight and rowHeight>0: finalRowHeight = rowHeight else: if useOptimalRowHeight: (recalculate row height) finalRowHeight = reCalculatedRowHeight else: finalRowHeight = defaultRowHeight The improvement of the speed for the recalculation of row height is another issue. However, for large spreadsheets even the fastest calculation may still cost a lot of time and CPU circles as it need to loop into each row and each cell. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Yes. "Format Painter" is the term used in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Claris Filemaker etc. It's a better term, because it's a noun phrase, while "Clone formatting" is an infinitive phrase. > If you speak about formatting being transferred, please specify what exactly > you mean. Ideally with an example document and to make it easy to understand > a screencast about the problem. Ok, adding a screencast. In the screencast, I only want to make the text orange, but instead I get a paragraph alignment change and a below-paragraph spacing change. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143055] Snap-to-grid button should be on more toolbars, optionally or by default
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143055 --- Comment #6 from Eyal Rozenberg --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #5) > The pure "Snap to Grid" (.uno:UseGrid) function without accompanying "Show > Grid" makes not much sense. Proof that it makes sense: 1. When you disable snapping, you have no need/motivation to start seeing the grid, since you don't interact with it. 2. When we enable snapping again, we're back to the default state of affairs: By default, there is snapping, even though we don't see the grid. And people aren't clamoring for LO to show them the grid. So, all the sense of turning snapping on and off remains even if we don't touch the Show Grid setting. QED. > And we have both in the main menu under View Grid, which is sufficient for > Writer and Calc. It's sufficient when you're writing, but insufficient when you're _drawing_ - even if it's in Writer (or Calc, though I never draw in Calc so I wouldn't know. Snap-to-Grid is on the ribbons - albeit in menubutton - in MS Office: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/turn-the-snap-to-grid-and-snap-to-object-options-on-or-off-in-excel-817da2d4-40cc-4cff-b0de-1359ecbe95e3 and I think that's in all Office apps - when you're drawing. > For > Draw/Impress it should be made more easy to toggle the settings and in > addition to the main menu we should add the command to the toolbar. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85449] UI: optional filter for 'Language' dropdown in 'Character' dialog to show only most sensible language choices
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85449 --- Comment #8 from Eike Rathke --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #7) > And not all dropdowns have a input field, see tools > options > > language > locales. You can search also without input field, just focus the list and start typing. In the edit field you can also type the locale's language tag though, if you happen to know that, which is not possible on the list. > We may also show only the languages that are installed by application > option, however user may paste content in alien languages. And it's not > clear what "installed language" means. Strongly against. Installed languages should not restrict what languages are offered for document *content*. > Sorting could help; could be done depending on region/locale. However, not > sure this is more acceptable than having a reduced number with more items on > demand. The current list is already sorted by language name, I don't see any benefit in sorting it by locale (what sort criteria anyway, the language tag? you'd end up with more or less the same grouping just in a different order illogical for the human eye). Sorting it by region we'd have to assign regions to locales, sometimes even arbitrary (Esperanto, anyone? Is Russia Europe or Asia?) and having English, French and Spanish split over several regions doesn't make sense either. What's the region for Cabécar to look it up? Or Bribri? A treeview might make sense for languages with many locales like English, French, Spanish or Arabic but wouldn't help in general for the outnumbering single language entries. Possible might be to move recently selected/used languages to the top of the list so they stay together for easier switching between different languages. But then again search by typing might be broken if it matched such recent entry that is not sorted into the alphabetical order. Choose your shortcoming.. Anyhow, this might be the best option. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143148] New: Use pragma once instead of include guards (Episode 2: Endgame)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143148 Bug ID: 143148 Summary: Use pragma once instead of include guards (Episode 2: Endgame) Product: LibreOffice Version: Inherited From OOo Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: difficultyBeginner, easyHack, skillCpp, topicCleanup Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ilmari.lauhakan...@libreoffice.org CC: mentor...@documentfoundation.org Background: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Include_guard The task is to remove the include guards in the header files and replace them with "#pragma once". This report is a continuation of bug 124176 - please see the commits in it for examples. The idea is to work on a few files per patch and move on to other tasks. This is a good first task for beginners. Keep in mind: - leave the status as NEW and do not assign this to yourself - multi-hacker tasks work like this - write a brief, but informative commit message referring to the report ID - don't leave extra blank lines in the source files Simple command to get a list of possible candidates: git grep "#ifndef" | grep hxx Helper scripts are in bug 124176 comment 126 and bug 124176 comment 213 NOTE: There are some source files containing include guards that are meant to also be processed by compilers other than LO's build baseline compilers: * All URE include files, see the (generated via odk/CustomTarget_allheaders.mk) workdir/CustomTarget/odk/allheaders/allheaders.hxx for a complete list. * Anything under odk/examples/. For those source files, it is probably better to conservatively stick with include guards than to replace them with #pragma once. To generate the allheaders.hxx file, run make CustomTarget_odk/allheaders -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140912] FILEOPEN PPTX: extra image and text label "insert image" appears (even in presentation mode)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140912 --- Comment #6 from Attila Bakos (NISZ) --- Created attachment 173306 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=173306=edit image placeholder behind the text in PP Sorry for the late reply. The file has an empty image placeholder with the text from the master slide "Insert Image", and it is covered by the textbox in PP, that is the reason for the difference. It might be related to my patch because empty placeholders (like this) was not exported as placeholder only as an empty shape (so it did not have the picture icon before). I think the only problem is that, why the image icon stretched, and why it is shown in presentation mode, but the reason might be that this was an image what is missing from the file, so that is why the icon shown instead. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85449] UI: optional filter for 'Language' dropdown in 'Character' dialog to show only most sensible language choices
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85449 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added Keywords|needsUXEval | CC|libreoffice-ux-advise@lists |heiko.tietze@documentfounda |.freedesktop.org|tion.org --- Comment #7 from Heiko Tietze --- We discussed this topic in the design meeting. The current situation is clearly a usability issue: huge lists never make sense. It's not a blocker because one can search by typing, but this doesn't affect the list itself. And typing "Engl" still returns all languages and countries. And not all dropdowns have a input field, see tools > options > language > locales. We may also show only the languages that are installed by application option, however user may paste content in alien languages. And it's not clear what "installed language" means. Sorting could help; could be done depending on region/locale. However, not sure this is more acceptable than having a reduced number with more items on demand. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143055] Snap-to-grid button should be on more toolbars, optionally or by default
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143055 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|trivial |enhancement Keywords|needsUXEval |difficultyBeginner, ||easyHack, skillDesign, ||topicDesign CC|libreoffice-ux-advise@lists |mentoring@documentfoundatio |.freedesktop.org|n.org Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #5 from Heiko Tietze --- We discussed this topic in the design meeting. The pure "Snap to Grid" (.uno:UseGrid) function without accompanying "Show Grid" makes not much sense. And we have both in the main menu under View > Grid, which is sufficient for Writer and Calc. That means removing the items from the toolbars, even when hidden, sounds like a plan here. For Draw/Impress it should be made more easy to toggle the settings and in addition to the main menu we should add the command to the toolbar.
