[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147071] New: Please automatically insert the Right Single Quote character when a word has a missing first syllable

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147071

Bug ID: 147071
Summary: Please automatically insert the Right Single Quote
character when a word has a missing first syllable
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@vansomeren.co.uk

Description:
Libre should be enhanced by using the Right Single Quote to indicate a missing
syllable, typically found when typing reported speech.

People say ’phone or ’bout or ’bye or ’night or ’kay and the missing first
syllable should be indicated by the Right Single Quote (alt code 0146) in the
ISO Latin set. I can only speak for UK and US English.

If AutoCorrect is Replacing Single Quotes I suggest the software look back at
the last typed character when a word is ended that has started with a Single
Quote. If it is a (closing) single quote, do nothing. If it is not a closing
single quote replace the word's initial left single quote by a right single
quote.

I think it's in DocxAttributeOutput::FormatLRSpace.
sw/source/filter/ww8/docxattributeoutput.cxx:9301
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/filter/ww8/docxattributeoutput.cxx?r=b5c616d1#9301

where currently it only checks for GetTextFirstLineOffset():
sal_Int32 const nFirstLineAdjustment =
pLRSpace->GetTextFirstLineOffset();
if (nFirstLineAdjustment > 0)
pLRSpaceAttrList->add( FSNS( XML_w, XML_firstLine ),
OString::number( nFirstLineAdjustment ) );

I think it should also be checking the pLRSpace->IsAutoFirst(), and if true,
then nFirstLineAdjustment should be calculated the same way as what we have
done in sw/source/core/text/itrcrsr.cxx:250.

There are some information about using an IDE with LibreOffice's python on wiki
[1], but nothing about Eclipse. Admittedly the documentation about this area
is rather sparse.

> Is there a reference list showing which Python version comes with which LO
> release?
Not that I know of. One can always look into the source code repository and
deduce this information from git log, but that's not easy. And it isn't very
useful anyway, because (1) it only shows the version of bundled python, which
is usually the case for Windows, but many Linux distributions build LibreOffice
with system's python and don't bundle it, therefore the python version will
just be the distribution's choice for the whole system; and (2) the bundled
python is just a subset of the official upstream python and many modules of the
standard library are stripped, so it's a bit unreliable to predict which python
feature is available just by looking at the bundled python version number.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81257] FILEOPEN DOC: wrong image layout with square wrap - pictures that should be right aligned, appear at top of page (OK if DOC resaved in MSO as DOCX)

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Dear mahesh patil,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147067] New: Option-click in a Mac scroll bar does not work properly

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147067

Bug ID: 147067
Summary: Option-click in a Mac scroll bar does not work
properly
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.5.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: khjalm...@gmail.com

Description:
In most apps, Opt-Clicking in a vertical scroll bar jumps to that location in
the document. In LO, that does not happen. An Opt-Click merely jumps up/down a
page (if you have it set that way in System Prefs). This has been the case
since I started using LO a couple years ago.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Opt-click in a vertical scroll bar.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Document moves up or down a single screen/page.

Expected Results:
Document should jump to proportional point in the document, depending on where
you Opt-Click.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Most Mac apps do NOT do this. I know there is one other that does, but can't
recall which one at the moment.

And https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com isn't responding for me either.

If you want me to confirm the bug still exists on a newer version I still need

One way is to add the PPA offered by the Ubuntu packaging team:
https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
sudo apt-get update

An easy way is to use an appimage: https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/

I see this problem every day.

This bug is still present with:
Version: 6.4.7.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: CL

I'd be glad to test with a newer version if you would provide me with a
coherent set of installation instructions.

The first place I looked
(https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/install-howto/linux/) say to use the
version from my OS. How to I get a later version on Ununtu?

I then found https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Install/Linux
and the "Graphic Installation (Preferred Way)" failed. From the command line
instruction it says that Ubuntu should use .deb files, but the kit that the
download page gave me (the link from
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ ) contains rpm files.

Can you just give me either an installation program to run or a tar file I can
extract and just run the file in the extracted directory?

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146109

Thanks for this feedback raal,
I'm seeing a slightly different bevavior in v7.2.5 (Windows 11).
Moving the saveas dialog has no effect, and the cells remain filled.
The cells are only cleared after I click save or cancel on the saveas dialog.
Additionally, I tried your suggestion of adding a wait to the macro (we think
alike).
With a 500ms delay before the saveas request, everything sequences as expected.
So that is a workaround, but I would need to edit numerous files to implement.
My main reason for the original post is the concern that the change in behavior
from previous versions might have additional ramifications.
Best Regards,

I could solve the problem in the meantime. The failure was inside the used
font. After having used another version of the appropriate font, everything
works well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147050] [FILEOPEN] NUMBERS table incorrect number formats

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147050

A "Sheet" in Numbers can contain multiple objects, including "Tables" and
charts and text boxes. LibreOffice projects each supported object into its own
"worksheet". If a table has a title, the generated worksheet uses the title as
the worksheet name. That decision loosely "makes sense" given that LO has no
direct equivalent of a Numbers Sheet.

In the "Interactive Chart" Sheet in Numbers, there is a text box, a table and a
chart.

LibreOffice put the text box in the "Interactive Chart" worksheet. Since the
table has a title "Monthly Sales by Region", LibreOffice actually generated a
worksheet called "Monthly Sales by Region" and put the table there.

The phrase `Table "Monthly Sales by Region" (original table in worksheet
"Interactive Chart")` should be parsed as 'LibreOffice generated a table
"Monthly Sales by Region". This table corresponds to the "Interactive Chart"
Numbers sheet.'

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147062] New: [GTK] shortcut Ctrl+Alt+ works as Alt+ : opens the first menu starting with

2022-01-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147062

Bug ID: 147062
Summary: [GTK] shortcut Ctrl+Alt+ works as Alt+
: opens the first menu starting with
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.3 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jbfa...@libreoffice.org

Description:
With the GTK backend, Ctrl+Alt+ opens the first menu with name starting
with letter .
As a consequence assigning for example Ctrl+Alt+O to the Text Body paragraph
style, this shortcut opens the Outils menu instead (in French corresponding to
Tools menu).
In previous versions, including 7.1, it worked as expected : Ctrl+Alt+
does not open a menu. Only Alt+ does.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Assign Ctrl+Alt+O (because Ctrl+0 is not usable on a notebook without
numeric pad) to the Text Body style
2. Create a new text document and insert some text with style paragraph
3. Hit Ctrl+Alt+O to this paragraph

Actual Results:
In the French version, that opens the Outils (Tools) menu. In the English
version, that opens the Format menu.

Expected Results:
Apply the Text Body style

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Reproduced in LO 7.2.6.0.0+, LO 7.3.1.0.0+ and current master
Works as expected in LO 7.1.8.0.0+

Works as expected if I use the generic backend instead of GTK3 one.

Thank you so much for the quick response, Ming Hua. Following your advice, I
could verify the Python version number and make sure that f-strings are
basically working on the command line. Before filing my bug report, I already
tried that, but with C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice\program\python-core-3.8.8\bin\python.exe which is not working
at all on my system.

Please close the issue. I think you are right and the problem might have its
source in my eclipse setup. Developing LO macros with eclipse is quite tricky
because I haven't found a way to establish the UNO bindings yet.

Is there a reference list showing which Python version comes with which LO
release?

I have the same issue. Each time I copy/paste a table from Cacl, the formatting
of the entire post (including the original from the sender) gets modified to at
least the font size of the Calc data.

To me it feels like that font size gets added to the global CSS affecting the
entire post as a consequence.

I'm under Linux (Ubuntu 18.04 at the moment) and I've seen this happen for
years. I'm sure many of us would appreciate a fix to this. It probably happens
with other types of data too... (anything that pastes HTML in a way similar to
Calc).

This was marked as Resolved, it never worked for me. I'm not too sure how you
can make it work. If it really works for you, maybe you could be so kind as
showing us the steps you take to make it work correctly?

On my end, I do:

1. Read an email and decide I should answer
2. Click "Reply"
3. Write an intro such as "Hi There, this is me..."
4. Go to Calc and Copy a table
5. Come back to Thunderbird and type Ctrl-V under my intro
6. ALL the text, i.e. my intro and the text from the original email is all
small now

In 7.2.4.1 there is a (new) issue with file history and old (Samba) network
shares:

If a file in the history list points to a (temporarily) disconnected network
share, you will run into a timeout: LibreOffice freezes for a few minutes.
You should be able to delete the history or set the timeout somewhere -
10 seconds should probably be enough anyway.

IIRC like Chris S. and Mark H. have reworked some of the font handling of late,
with recent master against 7.4 we no longer are getting an odd font being used
for the toolbars. And the asymmetry of the cross with Skia Vulkan (or previous
OpenGL) does seem to be gone.

drop-down menu.

I have used NATNUM12 to resolve the problem in bug 77803 only.

*This* bug should still remain open.

Please check the software behaviour once more according to my initial
description.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129609#c0

I imagine that a concrete file example is not so relevant here.
Is it more important to achieve a consistent error repair for file names (or
questionable paths)?

Alas, this reminded me that the libnumbertext-based formatting is also provided
through the [NatNum12] formatting in Calc. So for you original problem, using
"[NatNum12]0" instead of "[NatNum4]0" format code should give you the desired
result, at least on an up-to-date [1] Calc [2].

1. Version 7.2 or earlier has a but for numbers like 201 and 2345, see
https://github.com/Numbertext/libnumbertext/issues/83
2. [NatNum4] is also used for importing Microsoft's .xls/.xlsx files when they
contain [DBNum1] format code, if I read bug 130193 correctly. So
interoperability with Excel is still a problem.

I know. In my previous comment I meant "the current implementation of NatNum4
and NatNum5 in Calc" seems to be just character-for-character replacement of
each other.

As for what differences you want to make them to have in the future, I don't
use this feature and don't really have a horse in the race.
