(In reply to Joop Lanting from comment #35)
> Can you please explain to me why SKIA is so important?
> Does it improve screen quality?
> Is it mandatory for future hardware?
> Can I do without?

It improves the performance of rendering graphics and the user interface. It
supports offloading work to the graphics processing unit of your computer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147434] New: Keyboard shortcuts involving ALT do not work

2022-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147434

Bug ID: 147434
Summary: Keyboard shortcuts involving ALT do not work
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gregor-dallin...@gmx.at

Description:
Keyboard shortcuts involving ALT do not work, because the focus switches to the
menu bar, and opens some entry there. e.g. I always used ALT+V to insert a text
unformatted. Now this opens the "Formatvorlagen" menu entry. I have also tried
CTRL+ALT+V, same behaviour.

I am using 7.3.0.3 on debian

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set a shortcut involving ALT+any letter key
2. Use shortcut, will open menu bar

Actual Results:
menu bar opens

Expected Results:
shortcut action is performed

Reproducible: Always

run spell checker and tell it to add word to dictionary ; SUCCESS ; the word is
accepted and is no longer flagged ; i now open the spreadsheet again ; EUREKA

??? why does your calc program refuse to add the word to the dictionary

will be annoying as %$@#$# that i will have to goto the writer program to add

2022-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 147432
Summary: Many backups (like 1889 in 10 minutes) automatically
created while editing queries in SQL-view
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rob...@familiegrosskopf.de

While editing queries in SQL-view I saw flickering in the status-bar. After it
has been gone I had a look in backup folder.

LO has created 823 identical backups of my Base file. Could see the same
yesterday: 1889 identical backups in 10 minutes. Had also deleted other
identical backups of this file yesterday.

Couldn't upload the file - data are protected informations.

This all happens with a internal Firebird database, contains macros (which
aren't working while creating a query in SQL-view). File has about 90kB.

This all happens with LO 7.3.0.3 and now 7.3.1.1 on OpenSUSE 15.3 64bit rpm
Linux.

The statusbar functions are in svx/source/stbctrls/selctrl.cxx, missing UNO
commands like uno:SelectionModeBlock and uno:SelectionModeDefault. Don't see
how the other options becomes activated, maybe per INetURLObject aObj(
m_aCommandURL ).

Hossein, is this easy hackable? And shall we make the menu call UNO commands
instead of doing some other magic?

@Xisco
I'm stuck how to prioritize this. In old win x32 builds this would eventually
crash, because of memory of the limit (sane solution). Consuming all resources
today is pretty bad, it freezes the whole system.

There are not many cases of this happening (as far I know) an i have no clue
why the document here causing this problem to appear.. but even if this is a
broken bug doc, it should not consume all the system memory available

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Created attachment 178274

Spreadsheet with chartsheet

Excel, and perhaps ODC, has the concept of a chartsheet, a sperate worksheet
that can only contain a chart. This isn't supported by Libreoffice - the
chartsheet shows as an empty worksheet. It would be great if it did. The
attached workbook is an example of the "problem". It was created using openpyxl
(under Linux) and displays in Excel but not Libreoffice.

Angus

Add localize= attribute to the tag of the Help contents tree.

localize="[false|true]"

DTD:

Default is true

Code fragment (telegram channel, Rafael lima)

Indeed it is much more complicated than I expected. It seems the .tree files
are processed here:
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/l10ntools/source/treemerge.cxx?r=67478f9d#28

You could try something like:
xmlChar* pLocalize = xmlGetProp(pCurrent, reinterpret_cast("localize"));

if (localize) {
break;
}

If the property "localize" exists, than nothing needs to be done.

Sorry, I just found the changed behavior of the Paste Special Function after
posted this report.

Normally, prior to v7.3.0 any options selected once can be use repeatedly by
pressing only the "Enter Kay" and all of them will be reset to default by the
next launch only. Anyway, starting from v7.3.0 this behavior can be done by
clicking at the OK button instead while the "Enter Key" won't behave like the
formerly usual way.

I think there may be some design reasons on this which I'll adjust my custom
way of clicking and pressing the "Enter Key" with the function instead.

Thank you for your kind concern. I'll continue to use the v.7.3.x and learn
more of its improvements.

I noticed this while testing bug 146325: the Position slider and the Time
control are not updated during multimedia playback in the Media Playback pane
of the sidebar.

1, Open attachment 177012
2/a, Start playing the media file using the Media toolbar
2/b Start playing the media file using the Sidebars Media Playback pane

Notice that
in case 2/a on the Media toolbar the Position slider and the Time control gets
updated each second of playback,
while in case 2/b on the sidebar they are not (neither on the Toolbar, while
other controls status changes are synced between the two properly).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 145963] Slow typing with version 7.1 or above on Windows 11

2022-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145963

I'm also experiencing this issue on Windows 11. I think it's worth pointing out
that spaces and some special characters type at normal speed. For example,
periods, commas, exclamation points, semi-colons, colons, and quotation marks
all type fast. However this is not true for all special characters. For
example, brackets are slow.

What's interesting is that whenever you type a character that "types fast" such
as Space, all the letters you typed earlier which haven't displayed yet
instantly appear.

I'm not the only person to experience this behavior, see the comment here:

2022-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 147425
Summary: Fearure request: Use super script (and sub script)
glyphs from the font if it includes those characters.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4 all versions
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: johan.mattsso...@gmail.com

Description:
Super script could be a bit prettier with fonts that includes special super
script glyphs (like U+00B2).

Steps to Reproduce:
Type Ctrl+Shift+P and "2". Compare that to U+00B2 in the current font. Tested
with Dejavu Serif. The difference is small but U+00B2 is a little bit better.

Actual Results:
A thinner version of the digit.

Expected Results:
The U+00B2 glyph from the font, if present.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This feature is not available in all fonts but it would be nice if Writer made
it possible to use these glyphs id they are available.

Hi JBF,
I was using ascending order. I just tried it again using descending order and
it reversed them, but the numbers still weren't in order.
So I looked at the actual cells that were out of order and lo and behold, there
were hidden "`" in front of the numbers!
Sorry about that. It was "bad" data, not the software.
Sorry to take your time. It really had me baffled. I'll remember to check for
that in the future.
Thanks for your patience.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

This bug was filed from the crash reporting server and is
br-472062c4-8d8c-4861-9d13-a71ed9a10e13.
=
I had opened an 18-MB file (with a lot of graphics), accepted 2 deletions,
attempted an Undo which didn't work, and then tried a Reload, and Writer
crashed.

I see that in 2018 I filed Bug 118333 after a crash when I'd also tried to
Reload. I submitted an anonymized version of the file but the bug was not
reproducible and it was closed. I'm afraid I don't have time for that now.
