[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147579] Windows taskbar does not indicate dialogs / child windows
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147579 --- Comment #5 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Roman Kuznetsov from comment #4) OTOH, if Samuel finds a way to indicate that - it could be cool. I doubt it could be the dialog itself - it could be larger than the editor window itself (our print dialog is quite large these days), or it could be displaced, and simply overlaying one atop of the other could be confusing; but instead of painting the dialog itself, the thumbnail could be accompanied with the icon - just the same way we do with our start center thumbnails, and that would inform users nicely. Using a specific icon (e.g., associated with uno:print), or some generic (meaning "*some* modal dialog is open") could both be improvement. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148226] New: Add Edit style buttons in Footnotes dialog
[EN] Editing the styles that format the Footnotes and/or Endnotes becomes quite complicated because you have to enter their name in the dialog box to edit their characteristics (in the Tools menu) and then find the style. It would make it quite simple to customize its format just by adding buttons to edit the style chosen from this dialog (just as they allow you to edit a secondary style from the style's edit dialog itself). Steps to Reproduce: 1. Clic on Tools menu. 2. Clic on Footnotes and Endnotes option. 3. See style name 4. Close dialog. 5. Locate the style in the list of styles in the sidebar. 6. Right click on the target style. 7. Click Edit. 8. Change the features. 9. Confirm changes. Actual Results: Edit style for footnote or endnotes. Expected Results: Reduce to: 1. Clic on Tools menu. 2. Clic on Footnotes and Endnotes option. 3. See style objetive style. 4. Click Edit stle button. 5. Change the features. 6. Confirm changes. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Reducing the clicks or the number of steps to do something increases the user's productivity and allows them to have a better feeling about the program they are using. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118463 --- Comment #14 from flywire --- Yes, bug still exists. It's obviously not in the File > Save as > Save as type - menu of formats available. It seems there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the functionality. MS template and macro formats are supported (saved), despite the macros not actually running in lo. Surely it's reasonable to expect the template macro format to be saved. It's a trivial fix. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148225] New: spaces are highlighted
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148225 Bug ID: 148225 Summary: spaces are highlighted Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2 all versions Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mois...@hushmail.com Description: Honestly I don't know if this a bug or not, but it drives me batty. I'm alternately impressed by and driven batty by Libre office. I don't use it often but I keep it on hand because it offers a number of other things (like pdf for one) that I can't get with other free programs. Thank you. I've had Libre for several years, and have gone through many an update and since the beginning, when I first downloaded the file, Libre highlights the spaces. it is especially seen when I copy/paste text from elsewhere. It drives me so batty that I normally go through and erase all the gray highlights--an anal act that drives me batty as well, and which requires a lot of discipline and follow through. I don't even know if "highlights" is the correct word to use. all I know is that between each word is a spot of gray color, which fills the entire space between each word in the entire document. It seems like the silliest thing to fret over, but such it is. Thanks for Libre office. It's a thousand times better than wordpad! and it's saved my work hundreds of times--like when I need to convert from PDF to word or vice versa; but I admit, I usually use Jarte Plus. It's less annoying and a lot prettier. another thing that drives me batty is when Libre underlines the entire sentence when I mistype a word. I want spelling, as I type, indications but not the entire sentence, and not something that is ongoing as I continue to type--something that interrupts my train of thought and demands to be adjusted. and I don't know how to fix it until the entire sentence is complete, without misspellings. sorry to be... I feel like a font of negativity. Libre Office is a great product, and greatly appreciated by me and I love the entire suite. very appreciative. but batty too. sorry. Have a beautiful day. Actual Results: It happens most frequently when I copy/paste text, usually from online. Expected Results: I don't know any way to turn off the space markers. so I just erase them manually. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I don't know what version. I just downloaded 7.5.1.2 64, but haven't used it yet. but I didn't look to see what the last version was. could be fixed by now? Libre is the ONLY free software that I've ever worked with that highlights the spaces. I think if Libre didn't highlight spaces, didn't underline whole sentences when I mistype a word, and was much prettier to look at, not dense/gray/busy, then it would likely be my favorite product. Please contrast with Jarte Plus, which uses a lot of colorful, fun icons and has much more colorful background. Jarte also allows us to turn on/off different menus and allows us to decide what/how we want to look at (it). If I had the jarte interface with the Libre office capacities, I would be over the top delighted. BTW, Jarte is discontinued; can you acquire it? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

This would be the blueprint for integrating the Zotero addon in Writer. Pros of having it pre-installed like in Textmaker: 1 - Incentivize users to use a properly maintained reference manager, 2 - Incentivize users to use a reference manager with interoperability, 3 - Incentivize users to use a reference manager that will create an external library, or a library that can be easily imported/exported and used in other documents. Cons of having it pre-installed: 1 - The maintenance of this integration would fall squarely on LibreOffice developers. If anything broke, LibreOffice devs would have to fix it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121958] Replace the Bibliography Database by a dialog to manually input new sources and to fetch from online sources via identifiers for citations/bibliography/references
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121958 --- Comment #10 from Pedro --- There are two reference managers that could be promoted by LibreOffice as reference managers by integrating them. Only one of them is open-source. I am excluding Jabref because that one mostly focuses on LaTex text editing and not document editing software like Writer and Word. Most other reference managers are outdated and with no development for a few years. The two reference managers are Zotero and Mendeley. Mendeley was acquired by Elsevier and is closed source. I would be very against integrating it, since as an academic I very much disapprove Elsevier's business model. That leaves Zotero. There's also an examplo of Zotero having integrated their extension in word editing software. Namely in Softmaker's Office Textmaker. I believe that for previous compatibility sake they left the old bibliographic reference management system on Textmaker. However, according to this topic in Zotero forum: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/89804/softmaker-office-cannot-modify-citations The integration of the Zotero addon by default was done exlcusively by Softmaker's devs. I doubt any help will come from Zotero developers if such an option was followed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146174] ALT no longer usable for hotkeys, goes to dropdown menu now (started in 7.2.3)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146174 Paolo Aranha changed: What|Removed |Added Version|7.2.3.2 release |7.3.1.3 release Component|LibreOffice |Writer --- Comment #16 from Paolo Aranha --- I can confirm that the bug occurs also on Libreoffice 7.3. As a consequence, the default keyboard binding Alt+F, meant to insert Footnotes in Libreoffice Writer, doesn't work anymore. This binding is clearly shown as a default setting under the menu Customize -> Keyboard, but then Alt+F doesn't insert a Footnote, but rather calls the "File" Menus, just as Alt+E calls the "Edit" menu etc. However, as a further inconsistency within a very annoying inconsistency of its own, Alt+S doesn't call the "Styles" menu, which is activated only by F11. I kindly request the developer to consider this as a real bug: if Libreoffice settings promise a certain behavior (i.e. Alt+F inserting footnotes), but then does something else in reality, there is a problem. I am strongly affected in my productivity by this bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Server config file here says DatabaseAccess = Restrict /srv/firebird so the path in OpenSUSE will be localhost:/srv/firebird/externtest.fdb Thanks for this tests! This path isn't available in normal way through the GUI of a user. So it couldn't be fund by the database wizard, if I browse through my system. And server will only be available in this path, which is also be set by the system for all Firebird data files, which will connect to the server. If we will offer this option also the connector to server database should → connect to localhost directly, means he must read the path for data from the Firebird server (DatabaseAccess) → allow all user-management as it is possible through JDBC → must also connect to a server, which will allow to open files in Firebird versions like Firebird 4.0 The internal driver will produce an error with Firebird 4 files. But the internal databases won't be changed from Firebird 3 to Firebird 4. Databases, which have been used by other people, should be also usable in future. So it could be we need different drivers for the internal and the external server database. At this moment the only database, which could be created without problems, using the wizard, is the simple external file. And this should be available under "Create database", not under "Connect to an existing database". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148219] New: Spelling correction moves cursor to the beginning of the word
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148219 Bug ID: 148219 Summary: Spelling correction moves cursor to the beginning of the word Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: markand95-pat...@yahoo.com Description: Although not a serious bug, and I could not find any other bugs related to this. It is a minor observation which deals with the UX of the application. The issue is suppose you are writing a sentence, you type in an incorrect word, you see a red line under it, you right click and choose correct spelling. Now with correct spelling in place the cursor goes to the first character of the word. You can no longer just continue your typing. You need to put the cursor manually back to end position. Not a major issue, but irritating for users like me who prefer on the fly spell corrections and make frequent errors. MS Word does opposite, the cursor goes to the end of the word not at the beginning hence you can immediately start typing further. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write a sentence with a word containing spelling mistake 2. Choose right spelling by right clicking red underlined word. 3. The cursor will be at the first character of the word. Actual Results: The cursor moves to the first character of the corrected word. To type further sentence, cursor needs to be placed at the end manually Expected Results: Like MS Word, the cursor should be at the end of the word so that further typing can be started immediately. You need to grant at least read rights on the data base to 'lotest' more over Admin rights > because there is no possibility to do this with the internal driver, because > user administration isn't implemented. Many databases need to have a previous user before the first connection. Usually database root or database admin is implemented locally and don´t allow remote connections if not is granted specifically. So you could connect trough direct driver with the default SYSDBA. I'm not able to connect with direct driver to localhost here. My connection with JDBC: firebirdsql:oo://localhost/externtest.fdb?charSet=UTF-8 and the connection with direct driver: /srv/firebird/externtest.fdb (which I couldn't choose through database wizard, because it is a protected folder) If I try the same with localhost… the file couldn't be found. So I couldn't connect from any other position as my own computer. Then I tried to change and use another user 'lotest'. I could add another user in direct connection, but I'm not possible to set GRANT RDB$ADMIN TO lotest; because there is no possibility to do this with the internal driver, because user administration isn't implemented. Changed to JDBC to do this. I don't know if we could say the direct driver for Firebird could really work with the server database. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
