Another clue...
Using the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, using the thumb wheel for horizontal
scrolling works as expected. Using Shift+wheel (the usual wheel) for horizontal
scrolling, up becomes left which works fine. Right(down) is problematic as
above.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148991] New: Chinese characters break when other chinese characters inserted ahead

2022-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148991

Bug ID: 148991
   Summary: Chinese characters break when other chinese characters
inserted ahead
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lofudo_alran...@tutanota.com

Description:
When I type Chinese characters in the insertion mode of the keyboard just ahead
of several other Chinese characters, the characters typed in advance got
broken, with "!!broken!!" displayed. It happens when more than 2 Chinese
characters are typed ahead in my test, however, I am not sure if the number of
characters matters. ALso, in the simple test of mine, the same occasion is not
seen as to ASCII characters.

Example:示例 --> 示例二!!broken!!

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new .odt file and open it.
2. Type several Chinese characters, like "示例".
3. Turn the cursor to the head of the characters typed before (for example,
press button "Home" on the keyboard).
4. Press button "Insert" to turn the insert mode.
5. Type more than 2 Chinese characters, like "示例".

Actual Results:
示例 --> 示例!!broken!!

Expected Results:
示例示例

dldld  changed:

--- Comment #3 from dldld  ---
Started working on this bug.

It seems to be related to the fact that the cairo rendering is not using
CAIRO_FILTER_NEAREST to scale the border images correctly.

https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/vcl/headless/SvpGraphicsBackend.cxx#n679

Removing the following condition seems to fix the issue.
if ((fXScale != 1.0 && rTR.mnSrcWidth == 1) || (fYScale != 1.0 &&
rTR.mnSrcHeight == 1))

Background, is that the border pictures, which are getting scaled are having a
size of 26x26 pixels, so that the condition is not met and the cairo rendering
is using a "smooth" interpolation instead of hard cuts.

Code pointer:
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/source/filter/itiff/itiff.cxx?r=520d8c9e#679

(nCompression = 5 corresponds to LZW, the case here).

+ files vcl/source/filter/itiff/lzwdecom.hxx/cxx

When looking at initial doc then complex doc, it seems that for about the first
bit of last byte, if this one is white, the rest of the line is white, if it's
black, the rest is black.

Now, I spent several hours on these files and don't know where is the bug.
Also, I find LZW not simple + you must consider tiff use with CLEAR code (256)
and EOI code (257).
I wish I had a far better brain...

When changing the height of a header ("Format Header" -> "Height") the change
is not shown in the UI. A save and reload of the document is required to show
the change.

To reproduce:

- Open the attached document

- Change the header height ("Format Header" -> "Height") to a large value. The
change is not reflected in the documents view.

- Save and reload the document, the new height is shown

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148986] New: Support the "XF86Forward" and "XF86Back" presenter mouse / remote clicker shortcuts to move between slides in presentation mode

2022-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148986

Bug ID: 148986
   Summary: Support the "XF86Forward" and "XF86Back" presenter
mouse / remote clicker shortcuts to move between
slides in presentation mode
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nekoh...@gmail.com

I have two clickers, one is a Targus PAUM30, the other is a Microsoft "Wireless
Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000" (model 1065). The Microsoft one feels much nicer
to use, but its shortcuts are not properly handled by LibreOffice Impress.

According to the `xev` command, as tested under Xorg with Fedora 35, when
pressing the previous/next buttons on a Microsoft presenter mouse 8000, it
emits:

```
KeyPress event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x521,
root 0x31f, subw 0x0, time 527729954, (68,276), root:(662,604),
state 0x10, keycode 166 (keysym 0x1008ff26, XF86Back), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
KeyPress event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x521,
root 0x31f, subw 0x0, time 527722534, (68,276), root:(662,604),
state 0x10, keycode 167 (keysym 0x1008ff27, XF86Forward), same_screen
YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
```

...but LibreOffice Impress doesn't understand those shortcuts, and thus doesn't
go from one slide to another in presenter mode.
In comparison, the Targus PAUM30 clicker / presenter remote, whose button
presses LibreOffice Impress understands, emits these:

```
KeyRelease event, serial 38, synthetic NO, window 0x521,
root 0x31f, subw 0x522, time 528029747, (35,52), root:(629,380),
state 0x10, keycode 117 (keysym 0xff56, Next), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
KeyPress event, serial 38, synthetic NO, window 0x521,
root 0x31f, subw 0x522, time 528031339, (35,52), root:(629,380),
state 0x10, keycode 112 (keysym 0xff55, Prior), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
```

So my request is for LibreOffice to support the "XF86Forward" and "XF86Back"
shortcuts just as well as the "Next" and "Prior" shortcuts to move between
slide in presentation mode (or even in editing mode, possibly).

P.s.:

* Both devices also have play/pause / screen switching shortcuts, but I was not
able to clearly determine what they are using xev
* I used the xev command to test simply because I don't know what the Wayland
equivalent would be...?

You can open pdfs with LibreOffice, they are opened in Draw, even edited, but

Sorry Mike, you are right.
I do not get an error, but a wrong result. That is worse than an error.

Curious, =MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS(A$401;A1;$B1) has correct result, whereas
=MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS(A$402;A1;$B1) is wrong.

In addition there is an update problem in column A. If you change the value in
A1, values below row 53 (about) are not updated. But you need to hard
recalculate.

Sorry Mike, you are right. Generated formula is
=MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS(A$5;$A$1;$B1).
It seems, that it is not possible, that the variable cell $A$1 is part of a
range used in the sample calculation, here A1:A4. Changing A5 to =A1+sum(A2:A4)
works.

--- Comment #2 from BDF  ---
2nd test
Libre Office: 7.3.2.2
OS: Windows 10

I tested this bug on my Windows machine and it does not crash over there.
Unlike Linux, Windows does only search for a single letter you just pressed. So
if you type "bug" it jumps to the first result for 'b', then jumps to the first
result of 'u' and then the first result of 'g'. If there is no entry starting
with said number, it does not do anything.

On Linux the letters are kept. So it searches for 'b' then 'bu' and then 'bug'.
If there is no entry for the searched term Impress crashes. This also applies
if the first letter does not exist (eg. if you type "y" in Impress with german
UI).

Description:
When I search for a specific word in the object animation in Impress,
LibreOffice crashes.
After a bit of testing I think the 'specific word' is any word that does not
exist in the list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add an object animation to an object (eg. a simple square)
2. Click in the animation selection list to make it active
3. Search for something that does not exist (eg. "zzz")

Actual Results:
Impress crashes

Expected Results:
Impress does not crash. Maybe even tells me that it didn't find any result.

Reproducible: Always

Nice workaround. Confirming that I updated the excel spreadsheet with the
recommended fix, and that the formulas compute correctly when the sheet is

--- Comment #8 from Mike Kaganski  ---
(In reply to Dan Chall from comment #5)

A *workaround* would be to make the input cell be outside of the range
mentioned in the formula cell. Namely, DSUM formula (used in the
MULTIPLE.OPERATION and Excel's table) refer to F4:F5 range; and the input cell
(the variable which value gets changed in the MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS/table) is F5
which is part of the mentioned range. If instead you put "Bill" to, say, G5;
and change B5 to '=G5'; and change input cell of the MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS/table
to G5 (so it's not part of resulting formula's ranges), then it would work.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148984] New: Image not pasting into text document when copying from desktop

2022-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148984

Bug ID: 148984
   Summary: Image not pasting into text document when copying from
desktop
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mlinux...@gmail.com

Description:
Image not pasting into text document when copying from desktop in some Linux
distributions.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. On the Desktop in the operating system Ubuntu 22.04 we have several
pictures-files
2. Open in Ubuntu 22.04 LibreOffice 7.3.2 Writer.
3. Right-click on the picture file on the desktop and select Copy (Ctrl+C).
4. At LibreOffice 7.3.2 Writer we will try to insert a picture (Ctrl+V).
5. Nothing happens.

Actual Results:
If you drag the picture from desktop with the mouse to LibreOffice 7.3.2
Writer, then the picture is copied to a text document.
Thus, we see that the problem occurs if you right-click to select Copy (Ctrl+C)
and right-click to select Paste (Ctrl+V).

Expected Results:
This error occurs in other Linux distributions as well.
When you try to paste a copied image into a text document, the path to it is
inserted instead: file:///home/user-name/liberty-bell.png

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
No difference in image format: png or jpg.
The problem occurs only with pictures on the desktop.
There are no problems with pictures in Folders!

2022-05-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 148983
   Summary: MULTIPLE.OPERATIONS fail with Err:504 when the input
cell is *part* of the range used in formula cell
directly
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
   URL: https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/calc-getting-list-of-out
put-values-for-a-set-of-input-values/77238/
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com
CC: er...@redhat.com

In a new Calc document:

1. Put number '1' to A1, A2, A3 and A4
2. Put formula '=SUM(A1:A4)' to A5
3. Put number '2' to B1
4. Select B1:C1, and call Data->Multiple Operations
5. Put 'A5' to dialog's "Formulas", and 'A2' to "Column input cell", and click
OK.

=> C1 shows Err:504.

It depends on the range used in the A5 formula. Having the formula changed to
'=SUM(A2:A2)' (note that it also uses reference to a range including the input
cell, but only that cell!), or to '=SUM(A3:A4)' makes it function OK. Seems
like the range gets "broken" when we use another cell for updated value for
some cell inside the range.

Also repro using OOo 3.3.0.

This excel file shows how the computations work in Excel

I don't remember much about this issue but it has resurfaced so I'm doing my
best to show what works in Excel but not LibreOffice. I don't remember whether
I had to tweak the formulas to reflect application differences, but the
computations were straightforward analogues. I'm unable to demonstrate the
problem by opening the ods file in Excel and showing the success, but when I
open this XLS file in ODS it demonstrates the problem in LibreOffice.

I think, I've understood it now. Would have been more easy to understand and
save a lot of of our time, if original bug report contains an easy sample

Note also, that it works with

=MATCH("2";{"2"|"3"};0)

=> it gives the expected 1.

MATCH with MatchType = 0 is defined in ODFF 1.3 [1] differently compared to
MatchType = 1 and MatchType = -1; for the two latter, there's explicit "If
Search is of type Text and the value found is of type Number, the #N/A Error is
returned", while for the former, no such clause exists, implying that the
return value of 1 is really expected here.

2. Put '=A1+1' to A2.
3. Copy A2, and paste into A3:A30
4. Check that A30 shows '30'
5. Put number '2' to B1
6. Select B1:C1
7. Run Data->Multiple Operations
8. Put 'A30' to Formulas, 'A1' to 'Column input cell', and click OK.

=> Err:522 ("Circular reference") is shown in C1, and also in some bottommost
cells in A column (A29 and A30)

9. Put cursor to C3, and hit F9 (recalculate)

=> more cells show Err:522 in column A (starting from A299600).

10. Delete B1:C1, and hit Ctrl+Shift+F9 (hard recalc)

=> Err:522 is still shown in A299600:A30.

11. Save and reload

=> all cells in A show expected numbers again.

This is repro also in OO0 3.3.0; in current LO, it doesn't depend on OpenCL
and/or multi-threaded calculations.

There are two bugs

1. 'pi' is not rendered in contrasting colors
2. 'pi' indicator doesn't disappear when formatting marks is off edit window.

'pi'-'s behaviour should be same as 'checkmark'-'s behaviour.

>From a user's point of view, (1) is similar to

Like that bug, this bug also may be Linux only.

(I don't have access to Windows machines. So, I cannot confirm or deny the

It might be a good idea ... to review if "highlight in contrasting colors" bug
is in other places.

moving F4:F5 to F10:F11, I4 to H10, clearing H11:H13, selecting G10:H13,
running the Excel's "Data Table", and selecting G11 as "Column input cell", I
get "Input cell reference not valid" error from Excel. Indeed, I might do it
