Certainly you could position any control exactly. Might be my special problem
with English language. If there is more than one paragraph in a form controls
will be anchored to different paragraphs. PositionY won't help here to set
controls at the same absolute y value.

It seems that I need some macro locally, that would require me to take a deep
breath and drink my morning coffee before sending stuff - because I clearly
needed to do that before sending comment 1. Indeed, the dialog needed to set
the positioning options is not available in report designer.

I still believe we should fix that, making positioning ~independent of
anchoring even there - but please disregard me for this bug.

Not opposing the request itself (I have *no* preference myself) - just
mentioning the flaw in this specific excerpt: you *can* define exact
*positioning* of controls regardless of the *anchoring* - see FAQ [1].

Open any database file.
Got to Forms → Use Wizard to create a Form…
Create a form.
After you have created the form open the form for editing, not for input data.
Set cursor on the background of the form.
Press "Del".
All controls will disappear.

This isn't only a problem of the wizard. Default anchor for all controls is "To
Paragraph". So all controls will be lost by pressing "Del".
This wouldn't happen if default anchor (in Base forms, not in standalone
forms!) would be changed "To Page".

Another argument for "To Page": Some users try to change the position of
controls by setting paragraphs. Have seen many form here with a lot of
paragraphs. If controls are anchored to paragraph you couldn't set the position
exactly by PositionX and PositionY of the control.

I tried to bibisect this using bibisect-44max with two different approaches.

1. Open ODT, save as RTF, reload, check the part with "Bozkurt-Lotus
Olayı(1926)".

This was failing at the reload step for a long time, and got fixed with the
following commit, but was already bad at that point. I didn't check where the
failure started, I'm assuming it was still OK at that point.

Dear Martin,
yes, I can confirm turning pen on and off with "p" with the keyboard is
working.

The reason why I request also CTRL+A are hardware presenter / air mouse
devices.

Here is case which has a "pen" key, which maps to the actions:
1. CTRL+P (activate pen)
2. Click, while button is pressed (draw)
3. CTRL+A (deactivate pen)

Such a device relies on the CTRL+A working. As it is basically recognized as a
combined keyboard and mouse device, a remapping for the hardware is not
trivially possible.

I understand, when you would disagree with this shortcut, but in this case a
customization option for the shortcuts in presentation mode would be helpful
and nice.

Blanco--  thank you for the information.  I will try installing the Windows KB
update. 

Martin. Thanks for the suggestion.  If you notice my second comment,  I receive
a crash in safe mode as well when attemptingattempting to access the setting. 
I have not tried to access the same in calc etc yet. I will try and get back if
Blancos suggestion doesn't work.

Thank you for your response.  I was unable to upload the bug report as I did
not have the option come up after the crash, unless I'm missing something? I
have had it other times, but not for this type of crash strangely enough. 

-yes I have Windows 7 SP1 Installed. The computer properties lists it, so I
assume there were no problems with the install either.

Demonstration of Paragraph text area being larger than Entire Paragraph area

The attachment shows how to use "paragraph text area" to position shapes

Another perspective for thinking about the Table > Insert Table dialog.

Why not let the software do the mental arithmetic to add the required number of
rows to match the value in the “Heading rows” spinbox plus the value in “Rows”
in the general column – rather than pushing that task over to the user, as is
done at present? 

Explanation of work flow.

1. General section offers Rows and Columns (do some users just take the default
to get started, because it is easy to add rows and columns?)

2. Options section introduces a post facto question (after deciding rows and
columns), where user must take some positive actions (a) “enable” Heading (b)
decide whether to change number of Heading rows. 

Why can’t user assume that the “Heading rows” are going to be added “on top” of
the rows and columns, which were already decided (or not) in the General
section? (I probably did).

>From that point of view, the spinbox could/should take any value, where those
rows are added "on top" of the rows chosen in General.

That approach would make disabled spinboxes unnecessary (and possibly the
tooltip as well -- or maybe inspire another tooltip).



(note that Table Properties – Text Flow tab has the control:
   Repeat Heading The first [spinbox] rows
where it is possible to enter any value into the spinbox 

(though in that case, if the value exceeds the number of rows, 
the value is reset to total number of rows on reopening the dialog).

I've committed a proposed fix for this bug. It checks in
VSeriesPlotter::createErrorBar() for a non-finite negative error bar position,
and turns off the negative bar in that case. This mimics the behavior of MS
Office, though Office also shows a pop-up dialog warning.

I was trying to keep this very focused so I didn't add corresponding code in
the positive case (which I can see being a problem only in the event of
numerical overflow).

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/135105 is an initial path in that
direction. As always things are never simple and I think while this works for
"pure" gen, the themed versions of gen, e.g. windows, draw both spinners
together with a single enabled/disabled bit so will probably need a follow up
adjustment for those

I agree,  at the end of the day, we all want simplicity and it's nice when the
software helps us along with that.  
Though I appreciate the difficulty of anticipating all the bizarre tricks that

just my guess:

LibreOffice manages gridline status per document.

if you set

[Tools] -> [Options] -> [LibreOffice Calc]
[Grid lines] under [Visual Aids] to "Hide", lines on ALL sheets goes away.

On the other hand,
Excel manages this per sheet.

these seems ,at least to me, libreoffice stores the grid line status only to
the document settings, but not to the sheet settings.
On exporting to excel, the default data(true) for only per sheet,not document,
is retrieved.

and the retrieved data(true) is written to xlsx.

I'm sure that it may cause by Line Spacing, which will mess up first line
indent using Character with CJK language if it's not on Sing Line.

In my memory, Libreoffice did add the feather of first line indent using
Character on 6.x version. But I find it only work on Sing Line. If I change to
other Line Spacing, the characters of first line won't be aligned, and it will
make no sense.

Testing on Libreoffce 7.3, still not fixed

There isn't much to do on the LO level. If Qt is fixed, it's probably a single
call to the new Qt API. I opened the QT bug report back in 2019 and nothing was
done. Gtk is fixed, because Caolan prepared a patch himself. And I have enough
other LO bugs to fix, so I doubt anything will change in the near future.

Turning Off text-to-speech had no noticeable effect. Still crashes randomly

I have just sent a bug report - Writer crashes when attempting to use my Xerox
6000 printer to print a file containing graphics.
Most went fine, but I then tried to check whether OpenGL was enabled.
Instructions read:
LibreOffice 5.3 and newer:

Start LibreOffice in Safe Mode (open "LibreOffice (Safe Mode)" in the
Windows start menu or run libreoffice --safe-mode in the Linux terminal).
Select "Configure" -> "Disable Hardware Acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL)"
Click "Apply Changes and Restart"

Problem: I cannot for the life of me see how to Select "Configure" - there
seems to be no menu item to do this!

Description:
I had hoped that the upgrade to 7.2.7.2 would fix a bug I have had for a long
time - seems not so.
I have installed and otherwise fully working a Xerox 6000 laser printer.
I can print text fine in writer
However, always when I try to print a document with graphics it crashes.
Recovery of the file always succeeds.
Fortunately I also have Open Office 4.1.10 which does not have this problem, is
not my normal word processor but which I use to print docs with graphics.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Possibly have installed a Xerox 6000 laser printer?
2.Generate any writer document with graphics (B&W or colour I think)
3.Attempt to pring

Actual Results:
Crash. Crash report sent apparently successfully.
Recovery successful.

Expected Results:
Not to crash!


Reproducible: Always

Actually has the accelerator defined in UI [1][2], which (on Windows at least)
picks up with either  or , as at [3][4]. But still only the extended
tip, and not Customizable from Tools -> Customize

I compare times in version 6.2.4.2, where it whould works good and in latest
daily. And difference is only 15 seconds. All time is about 1:45. It works
better then for example in version 4.2 where I wait over 3 minutes.

Description:
In text grid mode, it is required that there is at most one glyph in a grid
cell. The test case shows that characters squeezed because of the following
half-width kana characters, because the half-width kana are narrower than kanji
glyphs.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached text file.
2. Observe the first three glyphs '中中中' in the first line, comparing the to
those in the second line.


Actual Results:
Three characters squeeze.

Expected Results:
Only one glyph is allowed in one grid cell.

In Impress' Normal view, one always has a slide open in the main section of the
Windows. That means that one slide must _always_ be highlighted in the slide
sorter (albeit possibly out-of-view, if you scrolled up). However - I sometimes
arrive in a state in which _no_ slide is highlighted. I'm not quite sure what
gets me to this state, but I get there.
