[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105828] EDITING: content-hidden table cell cannot be selected or receive the cursor
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105828 Justin L changed: What|Removed |Added Summary|EDITING: Empty table cell |EDITING: content-hidden |cannot be selected |table cell cannot be ||selected or receive the ||cursor --- Comment #12 from Justin L --- If you know what is wrong with the document, it is fairly easy to select a range of cells and turn the Format - Character - hidden property off. If you don't know what is wrong the document, I imagine it would be hard to figure out no matter whether you can (easily) get the cursor into the cell or not. Even in MS Word 2003 I had to select the entire cell in order to turn off the hidden format, so the method of "fixing" this document is already the same for both Word and LO - just that LO can't just select only the hidden cell (at least not "out of the box"). I am completely baffled why "nothing content" has been marked as hidden in this document. Lowering the importance since it is an odd-ball example dealing with character hiding - which by definition is not a "simple document". Also lowering it because anyone intentionally using hidden text in LO should know about Tools - Options - Writer - Formatting Aids - Display Formatting: Hidden characters. Things work "as expected" when that is turned on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149716] New: Crash on cutting cells loses data permanently
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149716 Bug ID: 149716 Summary: Crash on cutting cells loses data permanently Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.3.4.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: h6+documentfoundat...@pm.me Created attachment 180948 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=180948=edit The file as it was recovered, rows 3 to ~55 had textlabels in col A, then numbers & empty cells in B-V Heya, I just selected a bunch of cells in my spreadsheet and (C-x) cut them. Calc immediately crashed, restarted & recovered the file - but it recovered the file as it was after the cells had been cut, but with an empty paste buffer, and an empty undo buffer, so all my cell data is (afaict) irrevocably lost since I last saved. It was a large chunk of cells (like 30*50 cells), referenced in formulas & graphs both in this and in other sheets, so the crash may be due to any number of things I'm failing to reproduce it, partly because I lost the sheet that was the cause of it. But regardless of why it crashed, it seems *extremely* bad that the document recovery does not handle a case like this and I might now become paranoid about cutting cells of data at all. This lost me many hours of work, and logged data that is now impossible to reproduce. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149715] New: MAILMERGE Data Source not Updated For Email Mail Merge (Filtering and Modifying Data Source Has No Effect)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149715 Bug ID: 149715 Summary: MAILMERGE Data Source not Updated For Email Mail Merge (Filtering and Modifying Data Source Has No Effect) Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.0.0 alpha1+ Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: missol...@protonmail.com Description: After the Mail Merge Wizard is used to setup a data source for a document, the data source cannot be updated and this has several effects: - The "Refresh" button of the data source toolbar has no effect (if records are added to the underlying data source, they will not appear in the Data Source view in Write). Even reloading the document using File > Reload does not help. The only solution is to close LibreOffice and open it again. This is not a display issue, as the various Mail Merge functions ("Email Mail Merge", "Edit Individual Documents" and "Save Merged Document") will indeed use the original data without taking into account the changes. - VERY DANGEROUS: While filters can be defined using the data source toolbar of Writer, and the records can be seen correctly filtered in the Data Source of Writer, this has no effect on the actual data used by the "Email Mail Merge" function. This means that if one wants to email the Mail Merge, emails will be sent for all records and not only for the filtered one. This also impacts the "Edit Individual Documents" button, and the "Save Merged Document" button, and the "Print Merged Documents" button. All these functions do not use the whole data set instead of only using the filtered data. - VERY DANGEROUS: After a data source has been setup for a Writer document, it is not possible to modify it: if one double clicks on a different table in the Data Source view of Writer, while the records of the new table are correctly displayed in the Data Source View, the Mail Merge functions (Email Mail Merge, etc...) will use the data of the original table instead. Closing and reopening LibreOffice writer does not help. The only way to modify a data source is to go to Tools > Options > LibreOffice base > Databases and delete the connection from that configuration dialog. While the first symptom makes working with LibreOffice's Merge impractical, the last two symptoms are particularly dangerous especially since there is no Preview Window allowing users to double check the records selected. So a user may send the Mail Merge to the wrong people without ever noticing it. I appreciate this is a volunteer-led open-source project but this one really needs to be fixed asap as this is shipping something harmful to users. Making a mass mailing mistake often has serious consequences. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a Writer document 2. Setup a Data Source using the Mail Merge Wizard 3. Modify the source data outside of Writer 4. Filter the data source from Writer and try to Email Mail merge the filtered records 4. Try to replace the data source in Writer either by double clicking on a different table or by using the Mail Merge Wizard, and try using a Mail Merge Function using the new data source (Email Mail Merge for example) Actual Results: Writer uses stale data when calling the Mail Merge Functions Expected Results: Writer should call Mail Merge Functions using up-to-data, whether this means properly refreshing the data source when the Refresh button is clicked, or applying the filters when filters have been defined. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha1+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 089c91b1ad16232f130cb50266732509f83c52eb CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.18; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Also reproduced on: Version: 7.3.4.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 30(Build:2) CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.18; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded For 7.3.4.2 while I couldn't test the "Email Mail Merge" function due to bug #149703, I was able to reproduce the fact that the refresh button does not work and that the data source cannot be modified without fully removing it first from LibreOffice Writer Global options. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149714] New: BitsPerPixel property of Graphic has Boolean UNO type
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149714 Bug ID: 149714 Summary: BitsPerPixel property of Graphic has Boolean UNO type Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: difficultyBeginner, easyHack, skillCpp Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: BASIC Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com Consider the code: Sub TestGraphicBitsPerPixel Dim oProps(0) As New com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue oProps(0).Name = "URL" oProps(0).Value = "https://bug-attachments.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=177261; oProvider = createUnoService("com.sun.star.graphic.GraphicProvider") oGraphic = oProvider.queryGraphic(oProps()) MsgBox oGraphic.BitsPerPixel End Sub It uses attachment 177261 (that is simply a small PNG having 24 BPP), and the expected output would be 24; but the actual result is "True". The problem is implementation of BitsPerPixel property (documented to have 'byte' UNO type) [1] in vcl/source/graphic/UnoGraphicDescriptor.cxx, where the UNO type is defined as cppu::UnoType< sal_uInt8 > [2]. But that type maps to TypeClass::BOOLEAN [3], which makes Basic to convert the non-0 value to True. The actual type that maps to TypeClass::BYTE is cppu::UnoType< sal_Int8 >. The problem was since the introduction of the code in commit 7e83653a7fac894bee2c7c35fa2b84daac026642; there also was GraphicType property using that type initially, but that was fixed in commit 0170d51253bddd1e8ec1c8c887b526f2fc18d019. The code that sets the numeric value to the property [4] uses the correct sal_Int8 type. The fix of this easyhack should contain a unit test. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149447] Some Calc functions called via a FunctionAccess service are accepting type Byte, but treat it as if it is ShortInt (-128..127).
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149447 --- Comment #5 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #4) > in the mentioned "Choose "smallest" > representation for int values because up cast is allowed, downcast not" > hackery, there are uses of cppu::UnoType - i.e., an UNO type for > *unsigned* 8-bit values. Oh my. Debugging that, I see that cppu::UnoType corresponds to TypeClass::BOOLEAN, which is handled as TRUE/FALSE type - the sbxToUnoValue clamps the value to SbxValue::GetBool(). Which means that commit 11f9aa4fcb2ad0a5fada8561c7041e7f25a059fc broke all the 128..255 unsigned short/long values passed from Basic to UNO to become 1. Fun. (But I wonder how can we create such types in Basic - which could be the reason why it goes unnoticed for so long...) So could we pass the 128+ Byte values in TypeClass::SHORT? Maybe. That would mean that *if* the UNO expects a byte, and gets such a short, it will throw an error (see that "up cast is allowed, downcast not")... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

See also https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.3#Changed_spreadsheet_functions This should work: =IFERROR(IF(SEARCH($D$1;$B4);"x");"") In the success case SEARCH() returns a value >=1 so the condition would be TRUE (for any value <>0) and the THEN path of "x" would be executed. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149447] Some Calc functions called via a FunctionAccess service are accepting type Byte, but treat it as if it is ShortInt (-128..127).
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149447 --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- The problem is the mismatch between Basic's Byte type (unsigned; 0..255) and UNO Byte [1], which is *signed* [2]. Calling a UNO method from Basic *always* includes conversion from Basic types to UNO types; for simple types, that is implemented in sbxToUnoValueImpl [3], which calls getUnoTypeForSbxValue (and that returns the signed type for an SbxBYTE [4]). This happens even before the next "Choose "smallest" representation for int values because up cast is allowed, downcast not" hackery, so the signed -128..+127 type is used in the following manipulations. Initially I thought we are doomed (because I imagined we are bound to the TypeClass constants), but immediately in the mentioned "Choose "smallest" representation for int values because up cast is allowed, downcast not" hackery, there are uses of cppu::UnoType - i.e., an UNO type for *unsigned* 8-bit values. So the obvious solution would be to check the value of the passed Basic byte in the getUnoTypeForSbxValue, and if it's greater than 127, use the unsigned 8-bit type, otherwise, use the old signed one (to minimize possible changes). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149626] HANG during basic macro using com.sun.star.datatransfer.dnd
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149626 --- Comment #6 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Andreas Heinisch from comment #5) The code in the macro is non-portable (just as our own transferable flavor types), so it works differently (does not work) on Windows. And in any case, the internals (call stacks, locking, etc.) of DnD would be *completely* different on Windows compared to (different integrations for) Linux (the bug is against gtk3). Having said that: I wasn't able to repro the hang/crash on Ubuntu, using 7.3.4.2 (non-debug), and current master (dbgutil). There may be some additional specifics involved (like different kernel versions or other system differences), or it may be a heizenbug, dependent on e.g. timing, and thus ~reliably reproducible with debug builds on come CPU, but not with release build on another CPU (or something like that - you get the idea). The problem is that our HUE band misses the saturation/brightness. And the only solution is to combine the HUE band and the RGB space. But looking at the way it's implemented in GIMP I think we can do the same - and meet the user expectation. That is to apply the HUE angle at the RGB space while keeping the position at white or black. Caolan, is that much effort? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
