[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128287] LibreOffice menu bar not displayed in Windows 10 high contrast view

2022-11-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128287

--- Comment #8 from Russ  ---
Hello,

I am currently running Windows 11 22H2. I am also experiencing the same issue
(blank menu bar until menu items are hovered over). Interestingly enough, I
installed OpenOffice to see if it was also affected (and I don't expect its
code to have changed in ages). However, I was surprised to find that it behaves
as a program should when high contrast mode is on (that is, inheriting the
color scheme of whichever contrast theme is applied... in my case, the menu bar
is not blank and the menu items can be seen without hovering over them).

Here is my LibreOffice version info:

Version: 7.3.6.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: c28ca90fd6e1a19e189fc16c05f8f8924961e12e
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

and here is my OpenOffice version info:

AOO4113m1(Build:9810)  -  Rev. 281f0d3533
2022-07-01 10:22

At any rate, thank you for your hard work in maintaining this amazing software
collection!

-Russ

@Rajasekaran Karunanithi.

Strange. I also used LO 7.4.2.3 under Focal but still experiencing this bug.

Let me make it clear. The output should be the pdf with the size of the object
(e.g., circle or square), not the page size (A4). If you got the selection but
in page size, the bug still appears.

As in EPS exportation, the page size should be reduced to fit only the object.
Hence, I am still claiming the bug is still persistent. See the attached file.

The tabs are a different color than the rest of the toolbar

The tabs have white text on near-white background, when the rest of the toolbar
is almost black.

I'd like the tabs to share the same white-text-on-black-background colors as
the rest of the toolbar.

personalization theme.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.2.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dl...@yahoo.com

Description:
I'm using one of the "preinstalled themes" under the personalization tab in the
options menu, and I'd like to use tabbed view as my user interface, however,
the tabs have white text on a white background, which doesn't match my chosen
theme, and is hard to see.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Choose Tools > Options > Personalization > Dark
2. Choose View > User Interface > Tabbed
3. Go blind.

Actual Results:
The Tabs aren't grey like the rest of the toolbar.

Expected Results:
The Tabs should be the same color as the rest of the toolbar.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 7.4.2.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community

I have edited the header and footer PNG files (under the personas > dark

Dear Ben,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151544] “Lines per page" in Grid Mode is not accurately applied (always 1 line less than set in page style dalog)

2022-11-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151544

--- Comment #5 from Kevin Suo  ---
I did some debugging.

In function SwTextGridPage::UpdatePageSize(const SfxItemSet& rSet), currently
when calculating the page height (net of the header, footer, top space, bottom
space etc) (strictly speaking it is the height of the text area, should not be
named "page size"), it used the following code:
sal_Int32 nValue1 = rSize.GetSize().Height() - nDistanceUL -
rBox.GetDistance(SvxBoxItemLine::TOP) -
rBox.GetDistance(SvxBoxItemLine::BOTTOM);

When I change this to:
sal_Int32 nValue1 = rSize.GetSize().Height() - nDistanceUL -
rBox.GetDistance(SvxBoxItemLine::TOP) -
rBox.GetDistance(SvxBoxItemLine::BOTTOM) - 425;

(i.e. deducting the calculated text area height by 425 twips), then if I set
the page grid to 22 lines then there would be 22 lines perfectly shown on the
page.

As a result, I guess the problem may be that when calculating the text area
height it did not take into account the spaces between the lines, as when you
enlarge the page you will see that there are spaces between each lines. The
exact additional spaces to be deducted should be the height of each space
multiplied by the lines to be displayed on the page.

Formula to sort arrays of data.

Seems to me that such formula in any case is not of too much confidence.

Excel: Introducing something in the empty cells between data (a4, a8) produce a
result sort list with replicated values at the end. If there are numbers, the
second it's not on the sorted list.
Calc: retains the '0' at the top, but if numbers in a4,a8 only a4 it's on the
sorted list but duplicated.

Attached a sample file that deals with numbers, text, blank cells (at the end),
working with calc and excel. Based on 'ken johnson' answer

Hello Roman,

I kind of gave up, since I was told noone could reproduce this error but me.
Unfortunately I got the same issue on 3 machines in a row. And I hesitate to
update other machines to a newer LO version.

All machines have 128 GB SSD but different types/manufactorers, two 8 GB and
one 16 GB RAM. There is no particular antivirus software on it but MS defender.
All with currend MS W10. If it's necessary I could provide you the chipsets and
CPU maybe on Friday.

To be honest it really sound like #109530. I also figured out, I can't start
7.1.8.1 on one machine any more. Even after a fresh install.
I figured out, it happens alsways in a same pattern, too. If I start Calc the
first time and load a file - no matter if LO is started first and the file
loaded in it or LO is startet with the file via double click - it take the
minute. But if I don't close it anymore, every loading after that goes fast
like before.
I also noticed long loading times for dialogs like changing font. To load the
first dialog takes sometimes more than a minute. But if I do it again, the
dialog appears under a second.

I'm not sure, if/how this could help. I even thought about making a video to
show these effects and to prove I'm not making it up.

Writer was able to open other files of same age & Writer version. Am working
on a book, typically am working on 3 files at a time, so I know those files
were saved with the same version of Writer.
Hang persisted through reboots of Windows 10, restarts of Writer.
File that hangs is attached. It is coprighted material, so don't copy/spread it
around ecept as needed to check out the bug.

Just wanted to note that the more the relative contrast is decreased, it
becomes more difficult to read text. So regardless of whether this is adopted
or not - dark brown on light brown seems problematic to me.

Also, there may be considerations involving color-blind people here (or there
may not be, I can't say).

It's not a big problem, but it is _a_ problem, so setting this to "minor"
rather than "enhancement".

> So the question boils down to what the "document language" is.

(In reply to ajlittoz from comment #0)
> LO offers the possibility to separate UI language (menu, toolbars, …) from
> document language (both set in Tools>Options, Language Settings>Languages).

Tools>Options, Language Settings>Languages doesn't set the document language,
and, in fact, doesn't even set the _default_ language. How come? Suppose you
choose English for the Western language group (LG) and Arabic for the RTL-CTL
LG. Which of these is the default document language? Not clear.

> Ideally, they should be in the insertion-position language but it is very
> difficult to determine which language to use in a multi-lingual document,

Why? We have an indication for this right now in the bottom status bar...

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #10)
> Anyway, the "document language" coming from tools > options is applied to
> the Default PS and subordinate PS, and should be used for the category

See my comment above about that.

Also - do you mean PS as in Page Style, or Paragraph Style? The Page Style
dialog does not have a language setting/indication anywhere.

> So the
> question boils down to what the "document language" is. Perhaps we always
> take what is define in tools > options and ignore the setting in PS/CS,

Nope, we need a proper document language. Does the ODF spec have one?

HTML tables listed in the External Data dialog (Sheet ▸ Link to External

I remember that LO had some problems with the SVG->PNG icon converting. I mean
LibreOffice doesn't show the SVG icons directly, first it converts SVG to PNG

Tomaz, what do you think today about the suggestion? Is there today some
technical reason to have PNG icon themes and don't use only SVG for all icons?

This happens with any RTL language.

Note that other aspects of direct formatting _are_ preserved when switching
styles, e.g. underlining, bold/non-bold.

Also note that font family is character DF, and direction is paragraph DF,
which is interesting.

I confirm the behavior but I'm not sure it's a bug

The background is a page's property, it isn'r any shape or object...

Xisco, should the SVG file support the background of some page?

Heiko, I would like to give this one a try.

However, I have no idea how I should save/restore this information.

Do you know any similar patch I could study about this?

The "paint can" seems to be the mouse pointer used when the clone tool is
clicked. But pressing Esc should exit the clone tool.

Can you provide more info on what you were doing when the problem happened?

Maybe some steps for us to reproduce?

--- Comment #5 from Eike Rathke  ---
I doubt any system actually has support for an en_DE.UTF-8 locale, if not
handcrafted.
Just enter this on the command line:
LC_ALL=en_DE.UTF-8 locale
and you'll get something like

locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory
LC_CTYPE="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_DE.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=en_DE.UTF-8

Whatever happens if in KDE a locale is set to such an invalid value, apparently
it influences the text encoding with which file system paths are read by
LibreOffice with thread encoding, probably for an invalid locale it falls back
to a non-UTF-8 C or other locale, which would explain the question marks
instead of umlauts.

If (from the system or command line) you want English UI with otherwise German
locale settings then instead set that properly, like

LC_MESSAGES=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8

where LC_CTYPE determines the default system locale LibreOffice uses for number
formatting and so on, if not overridden under Tools -> Options.

Be sure to not set LC_ALL that would override any other LC_... variable.
LANG=... may be set, LC_MESSAGES will take precedence if set. Anyway, for the
UI language a LANGUAGE=... set will take precedence over both LC_MESSAGES and
LANG, so LANGUAGE=en_GB.UTF-8 would work as well.

Don't know what suggestion you mean. My comment was about the fact that all
animations belonging to the selected object should be highlighted. Which works
for the purple ABC-frame and the smiley shape but is not true for the GHI nor
the TEST object. So this is a bug to me.
